Waching daily Feb 13 2017

we are in the Bald Hills this is an area

that the park has a history of burning

since the nineteen mid-nineteen eighties

and our primary objectives up here are

resource management objectives we like

to maintain the Oakwood lens for the

Roosevelt elk habitat we got about 220

of those up here we also have some

remnant cattle that get in here and

there hopefully not in our unit today

so our specific objectives in the open

grassland it differs a little bit based

on it for an open grass vs under the

Oaks we like to kill about eighty

percent of the encroaching Douglas

first-half wings in the open grassland

and about a 70-percent under the Oaks we

also want to maintain the native plant

species up here that's what I am

primarily responsible for in terms of

the monitoring and then we don't want to

reduce the oak woodland canopy cover by

more than 10-percent within a couple

years of the burn so we're trying to

kill small douglas-fir but we're trying

to maintain that oak / story as well

some operational objectives or provide

for the safety of the public and

firefighters bald hills road is a really

active public peace road there's some

logging going on so be cognizant of that

ensure communication is available across

the burn unit and we'll talk about comms

a little bit later and we're going to be

managing some traffic and doing what we

can to limit smoke from obscuring Bald

Hills red and then primary operational

objective is to prevent fire from

crossing the park boundary to the north

and east into the private timber land

see what everybody so the unit is about

300 acres got all aspects on it's one of

the highest points in the park it's

bounded by bald hills road on the south

right here and along the west side

robbers Gulch Road on the North that's

where a lot of the

the logging trucks are coming out of and

what we call the east side road grassy

room on the east side of the unit got a

lookout up on top a little bit of into

infrastructure up there primarily grass

hill model 3 with some local stands kind

of on the northwest side and some

encroaching doug fir and some of the

drainages

so you can see right now the grasses

which are the final fueled their running

very quickly and quite well

the purpose of this fire is to remove a

lot of the Douglas fir from this part of

the libraries and the fire is doing that

as you can see behind me some of that

fire is going creeping into the oak

trees it's going to creep around those

trees cause very little damage and when

it gets back into the grasses that will

continue to burn the brasses as well as

those little Douglas fir trees

okay copy that down there right there

give me about five minutes to bump up a

couple

Episode 2

Axiu

Here's the amount you wanted

Check it

It's not necessary

You're the construction boss

I believe you

Mr. Liao

I never imagined you'd love our Suzhen

She's pure and well-behaved

She'll depend on you the rest of her life

You need to treat her well

Rest assured

I won't let her suffer any hardship

In the blink of an eye,

the rest of my life changed

Suzhen

Take care of yourself

Thank you

Mr. Liao

Take good care of Suzhen

Don't worry

Let's go

Suzhen

This diary is my gift to you

From this day forward,

you can use it to write about your new life

Remember this song?

"I send you a gift of love"

"I wish you true happiness"

It's those exact words

I wish you true happiness

Take good care of yourself

And that was it

I left the bar where I'd worked so many years

and began a new life with Mr. Liao

Mr. Liao gave me a new home

A home that didn't require me

to work for my keep

It's not very big, but I hope you'll like it

Thank you

Go to the back and take a look around

Is this in the right place?

Is it straight?

Yes

It looks very nice

Having this kind of happiness was like a dream

Having this kind of happiness was like a dream

Even though it wasn't exactly real,

it was the most secure I'd felt since childhood

I had someone to care about me,

take care of me and love me

It was a wonderful feeling

Even though I wasn't married to him

and couldn't be his legal wife, Mrs. Liao

But I was sure that once I had a child,

But I was sure that once I had a child,

I'd have a family of my own

A family that belonged to me

Suzhen

You're here

You haven't eaten, right?

I'll go cook something for you

That's OK

By the way

Does your lower back still hurt?

Did you sleep well?

It's the same

Sometimes it hurts so bad I can hardly stand

Let me take you to a doctor, OK?

It's OK

I'll be fine if I rest a bit more

I wait for you every day

So far, you've come twice this month

You always come so late

I'm sorry

There're a lot of job sites, so I'm really busy

I'm sorry to keep you waiting

It's OK

Go get washed up

I'll cook dinner right away

It looks like the light bulb's burning out

Do you have a new one?

Give me a new one and I'll replace it later

There's no rush

You just got here

Get some rest first

Haven't you heard them say that

if a light bulb burns out,

it affects a couple's relationship?

What if it affects us?

What if it affects us?

Really?

I'm just kidding

Hurry and get a new one

Later, I'll replace it

OK

By the way

I'll stay here tonight

Suzhen

Do you know what I'm thinking about right now?

What're you thinking about?

I'm thinking of the way you looked

the first time you sang

I was so nervous my legs were shaking

I just love your innocence

By the way

I haven't heard you sing for a while

Sing a song for me, will you?

Sure, what song do you want me to sing?

Any song will do

How about this?

I'll sing about my feelings for you

Your feelings?

I'm coming

What took you so long to open the door?

Why are you so drunk again?

What's wrong with my drinking?

No matter how much I drink I'm still your mother

No matter how much I drink

I'm still the grandmother of this child

Mr. Liao has a wife

When my precious grandchild is born,

what will I tell people?

Who is my father?

What is it? Why are you here so late?

I…

I ran out of money

I don't have any money at all

You live such a comfortable life now

You don't even care about your family

You have a grandmother

and grandfather at home

Your brother and sister need you too

Keep your voice down

Please, alright?

He's here

Mr. Liao is here

Please, be quiet

Alright. Stop yelling

I'll get it for you

Please, be quiet

Thank Mr. Liao for me

I saw the baby

She smiled at me

She's so cute

She's so beautiful. Just like you

No

I think she looks more like you

By the way,

I'm sorry I haven't visited the last couple days

I'm sorry I haven't visited the last couple days

There's so much work to do at the job sites

and I couldn't get away from things at home

It's OK

Now that you've come,

help me with the discharge while you're here

I don't like the hospital food

I can't sleep good here either

OK

I'll go up front and pay the charges

I'll go up front and pay the charges

I'll call a cab to take you and Xuanxuan home

Why did you come here?

I told you I'd go home and give you money

You said you'd give it to me, but didn't call

I was afraid you wouldn't give it to me

You come over for money every 2-3 days

I don't have that much money to give you

Now that you're living so well yourself,

you don't care about the family anymore?

Your grandparents, brother and sister

still need me to provide for them

But you gamble away everything I give you

What're you talking about?

Are you giving me the money or not?

Mr. Liao

What a coincidence

I came to visit Suzhen

I'm happy both mother and baby are fine

Let me tell you something

I had good luck a few days ago

I had a "self-pick" very time

But last night I.

Suzhen has such a good life

Being with you, she doesn't have to worry

Come by and visit some day

Everything's done

We can leave the hospital in a bit

The nurse will bring you the baby

The nurse will bring you the baby

Thank you

Does your mother visit you often?

You said before you didn't have enough money

Did you give her all your money?

She says she needs it for the family

I know she takes it to gamble,

but I can't refuse her

Besides, I told her that I don't have much

Besides, I told her that I don't have much

I asked her not to gamble anymore

But.

I told you. It's not that I don't want to help,

but the way your mother spends money,

no matter how much I make, it won't be enough

If I refuse, she says she'll kill herself

No matter what, she's still my mother

What will you do in the future?

Give her money every time she comes?

You'll just give her whatever she wants?

I don't know

I just don't know

Reality wasn't as simple as I pictured it

Reality wasn't as simple as I pictured it

I didn't understand why my happiness

I didn't understand why my happiness

was like the canna flower

whose beautiful blossom only lasts for a moment

Once the blossom falls to the ground,

it never comes back

"5 years later"

Let Auntie hold your hand

Good girl

Xuanxuan, did you greet Auntie?

Say Auntie

Good girl

Time goes so fast

Xuanxuan's grown so big already

Renjie is also a little boy now

It's your fault for not visiting me

Every time I asked you over, you were busy

As long as you're happy, that's all that matters

Your second child is a boy

Mr. Liao must be very happy, isn't he?

How about you, are you doing well?

The same as always

I drink with patrons every night,

then go to bed

Once I wake up, I start drinking again

I do the same thing day after day

If I could be like you and meet

a good man like Mr. Liao, my luck would change

a good man like Mr. Liao, my luck would change

I envy you sometimes, you know?

What happened, did I say something wrong?

Lately, our affection has been deteriorating

Lately, our affection has been deteriorating

He seldom visits me now

If he comes, he doesn't talk much

I know we're drifting apart

Sometimes.

I'm really afraid

that he doesn't want us anymore

I thought Mr. Liao treated you very well

Xuanxuan, go over there to play, alright?

Did he stop loving you?

It's because of my mother

For the past few years,

she's been coming a lot to ask for money

She says it's for household expenses

Actually, she's been using it to gamble

We fight a lot because of this

We fight a lot because of this

Your mother loves to gamble too much

No matter how much you give her, it's not enough

You shouldn't give her money anymore

I know

Sometimes I want to be firm and refuse her

But if I do that,

she says she'll kill herself or that

her creditors will cut off her hands and feet

When I see her crying so sad,

I can't bear it

Are you planning on

giving up your children's father?

Your mother loves gambling too much

If I were Mr. Liao, I'd feel pressured too

Initially, Mr. Liao

wanted to give you a comfortable life

But now he's ended up hurting himself

No matter how wealthy or how much money he has,

he can't afford your mother's gambling, right?

Instead, she's worn him down

In the end,

Mr. Liao only deposited

money to my account

for my monthly living expenses

He seldom visited me

Seaweed is Baba's favorite

That's right

Why hasn't Baba come home for so long?

Your father's busy working

He'll be back when he finishes his work

Hurry and eat

Renjie, eat your meal

Hurry and eat

Mama

Why don't you answer the door?

You didn't have your key?

Right

Why didn't you open the door?

I didn't know it was you

I thought it was my...

You didn't eat yet?

I'll heat things up

That's OK

This is the money for this month

My cash flow's been tight lately

It's a little less than usual

Spend it carefully

Baba

Baba

Be good and eat

Are you leaving already?

Won't you stay for dinner?

Go talk to your mother

and tell her to control herself

She came to the job site asking for money

Lately, several of my job sites

are having cash flow problems

I'm having a tough time as it is

She dared to use the kids to threaten me

She dared to use the kids to threaten me

What's she up to?

Is she trying to destroy me?

The worst part is that

if I don't give her the money today,

she'll go to my house and tell my wife everything

she'll go to my house and tell my wife everything

You tell her I'm not scared

You tell her I'm not scared

Let her try it if she dares

I called you in here to hear you sing

What would you like hear, Mr. Liao?

The song you were just singing

I heard you really like scenic pictures

I just happen to have some

I really like them. Thank you

As long as you don't mind my family

I guarantee

I'll take good care of you your whole life

Once I have a child it'll be better

Yes, he's good

She thinks she'll double-cross me?

If I don't give her money today,

she'll go to my house

and tell my wife everything

I'm not scared

Let her try it if she dares

Initially, Mr. Liao

wanted to give you a comfortable life

But now he's ended up hurting himself

No matter how wealthy or how much money he has,

he can't afford your mother's gambling, right?

How about giving him the kids

We can start over

I don't plan on leaving my kids with him

I'll keep them with me

Don't be a fool

Mr. Liao's a wealthy man

The kids will have a comfortable life with him

If they stay with you,

their days may be tough up ahead

Mr. Liao has the means to raise them

What about his wife?

Will she accept Xuanxuan and Renjie?

How many women are generous enough to accept

children their husbands had with other women?

If I keep them with me,

at least I can care for them

No matter what, they're my children

No matter what, they're my children

They're my treasures

I can't bear to part from them

Suzhen

If you have any problems, come see me

Don't hesitate to ask

Xuanxuan, Renjie

We've got to go

Mama, where're we going?

We'll move back to Grandpa's house

Will we be coming back?

This house isn't my home anymore

This house isn't my home anymore

I've even started to wonder

if this house ever was my home,

or was it just a place for Mr. Liao to rest?

I need to start over

I don't know what's ahead of me

I only know that I have my children

I need to make money

It's only with money,

that my children and I can survive

Without experience,

you're not suitable for this job

I'm sorry

Check and see if other places can hire you

I don't need a new employee right now

I can learn. I'm a hard worker

I'm sorry

We don't hire people without experience

Grandpa, what happened?

Renjie cried for half the day

I don't know what's wrong with him

Why does he feel so hot?

Why didn't you take him to a doctor?

I don't have any money

Suzhen

Aying

Yanhong said you were looking for me.

What is it?

Renjie has a fever

Why is his temperature so high?

Take him to a hospital, fast

I…

You don't have money? Wait for me

Wait a minute

You haven't found a job yet, have you?

I don't have an education or work experience

I don't have an education or work experience

I looked everywhere for work this month

No one's willing to give me an opportunity

Don't worry about it

Take your time finding work

If you need anything,

don't hesitate to come to me

You need to send money home every month

How can I always bother you?

I see my grandparents

buying groceries on account every day

We need money for everything

I just don't know what to do

Mama

You're back

Xuanxuan's a good girl

She didn't take the candy I offered her just now

Mama

I heard Renjie had a fever

Is he OK?

He's fine

Suzhen

I really have no other choice

Please

They'll chop off my hands and feet this time

Please

Xuanxuan

Your younger brother is sick

Sleep next to him, understand?

Come in

Here, lie down

Don't either of you come out

What're you going to the kitchen for?

Did you hide your money in the kitchen?

Why are you holding that knife?

You said you have no other choice

Have you ever considered that

I'm also at the end of my rope?

I can't find a job

I need to raise my kids,

support my grandparents

and pay for the younger ones' tuition

Xuanxuan had a fever today

I don't even have money to see a doctor

You want money?

I'm penniless

Tell whoever who wants to chop off your hands

and feet if they want money, I don't have it

I'll cut off my hand to help you out

I'll cut off my hand to help you out

Don't do that

What're you doing?

Put the knife down

Put it down

Why do you push me so hard?

You're my mother

You won't be happy till you kill me, will you?

You want money, right?

I'll chop off my hands to pay for your debts

Don't act like this, alright?

If I don't do this, what else can I do?

You want money, don't you?

I'll chop off my hands now.

I won't ask you for money anymore.

It's been several years

I haven't seen you for so long

Business is tough these days

Girls aren't as easy to hire and train

Patrons are demanding even more than before

Really

What's going on here?

It's pitch black

Does anyone live here?

All of the girls

you used to know

have all left

Aying's the only one who's still here

She happens to be out today

You didn't tell her you'd be back, did you?

She was so shocked

when I told her that

this time you're not here to clean,

but to accompany patrons to drink

Adjust your attitude

and get used to it

What's wrong?

Where are the vines?

They grew too thick

I didn't like the way they looked

and chopped them all down

Don't you feel it's more spacious now?

If you're willing

I'll take you away from this place

I liked you from

the first moment I saw you

Come here

I'll take you to your room

You can stay in this room with Aying

The room hasn't changed

I feel bad

The girls who lived here before

The girls who lived here before

didn't like the pictures, so I tore them down

You're such a fool to leave Mr. Liao like that

You're such a fool to leave Mr. Liao like that

You didn't take any money when you left

and even kept the kids with you

I just don't know what you were thinking

At the very least you should've asked him

to give you some money to raise the kids

I didn't think about it that much

The kids have my family name

I'll raise them myself

Look

You. Sooner or later,

this personality of yours is going to cost you

Here

Take half a month's salary in advance

Otherwise, you have to wait until next month

How will your family live during this time?

Thank you, Auntie Xiu

I know if you weren't desperate,

you'd never have come back here, would you?

I'm only going to work here for 2 years

When my brother joins the military

I'll find another job

It's OK. No problem

You can work here as long as you like

Let me tell you

This may not be the best place to work,

but at least you can support your family

and the kids can go to school

You'll have no problem making a living

Thanks

You're welcome

It's OK. I can do this

I'll have someone replace this with a new set

I'll have someone bring it over later

OK, you go ahead and get settled

Didn't you like putting posters up before?

Now that you're staying with Aying,

you can put up anything you like

Alright

That make-up is for you

Put it on

We're entertaining patrons tonight, remember?

Put your money in a safe place

Why are you so dumb?

Why did you come back here to work?

I couldn't find anything else

I've got to work to support my family

You know my sad story. You know it

Why doesn't Heaven see

and lets you have such a hard life?

I heard Suzhen is back

That's great

Those dirty clothes have been in my room so long

Now I have someone to wash them for me

Suzhen has a different job this time

Suzhen

Hurry up, hurry

The patrons are waiting

Put your shoes on

You two are still chatting here

Don't you have anything to do? Hurry and go

Honestly.

Come on.

Suzhen, hurry up

Come quick

Suzhen

When you go in you need to be sweet, OK?

You need to greet them with a smile, OK?

Mr. Wang, you're here

You should come more often

Sure, sure

Auntie Xiu, hurry. That man's been waiting

OK... Here you go.

Is there enough liquor?

It's enough

Our Suzhen

Suzhen

Isn't she pretty?

Not bad, not bad

She sings good too

Suzhen, get up

Didn't I see you up earlier?

Why are you lying down again?

Hurry up.

It's time for work

We're late

I'm coming

Ba, thanks

Ba, thanks

Mr. Chen

Why haven't you been here for so long?

I finished my drink

Where's my tip?

Xuanxuan, Renjie

You drink first

Here.

You bad thing

Here, here

Bottoms up, bottoms up

Let's drink together.

Why did you rush out like that?

I'm sorry, I didn't see you

I'm sorry

Sir, where should I put this board?

Take it outside

Did you finish nailing it down?

I'll take care of it later

Leave 2 cm between the panels

Alright, I know

Mr. Chen

Have something cold to drink and take a break

That's OK

Ma'am

Where's the cleaning lady I saw last time?

I haven't seen her for a few days

What cleaning lady?

The one carrying the bucket with the big eyes

She's really pretty

No special reason

It's just. there's some garbage out back

I wanted her to take it out

You mean Suzhen?

Her name is Suzhen

She went home to take

her grandmother to a doctor

She'll be back tonight

Go have a cold drink later

I have things to do

Suzhen

Please

Why are you still working?

Mr. Chen

Hurry up

What time is it now?

I need to open for business

I'm sorry, so sorry

I'll clean up right away

Hurry. is the towel ready?

Axi, don't nail that one

Clean up in the back

Hurry and clean up over here too

Hurry up.

-------------------------------------------

Hồng Kông Dưới Ách Cai Trị của ĐSC Trung Quốc trong 10 năm tới? |Trung Quốc Không Kiểm Duyệt - Duration: 12:31.

I'm here with Andrew Choi, the executive producer of the movie "Ten years",

which is one best film in the Hong Kong Film Awards.

Andrew, thanks for joining us.

I'm a huge fan, so I've seen it at least five times.

Tell me, what's it like working with Channing Tatum and Chris Pratt

What's that Shelley?

Oh, that's a different movie, also called "Ten years".

Andrew, excuse me for just a moment.

Okay Andrew, thank you,

pardon the interruption.

So I just watched "Ten years",

which is apparently a collection of five short films

about the Chinese Communist Party's erosion of freedom in Hong Kong.

So, the film is set in 2025, 10 years in the future of Hong Kong.

Why are there no robots or sentient machines?

Well, because we have a very limited budget

and so that's the

Best answer.

Yeah, best answer for us.

Actually, we talked to the directors

and that we only have like in Hong Kong $100,000 Hong Kong for per film.

So it's very very low budget.

per each of the five films?

Yeah, so total 500,000 Hong Kong dollars budget.

So, I don't think you can have a robot with this budget.

Always cardboard.

So, why did you get involved with this film?

Well, I think we started out about three years ago

It was in 2013,

Me and my co-producer Ng Ka-leung, who was also one of the director,

Local Egg.

We just finished a documentary film in Hong Kong.

Also talking about some of the changes in Hong Kong

And, three years ago we have the idea that

Oh, after this documentary file, I want to do a feature film about the future of Hong Kong.

Because, back then you can, kind of sense Hong Kong is changing.

Of course the influence of China,

you can feel, is getting more and more involved in the Hong Kong issues.

So, we were just asking the question: "What's next for Hong Kong?"

"Ten years" was very successful in Hong Kong, sold-out theaters.

Were you expecting this kind of response?

Definitely no.

We never imagined we could have such a huge response.

We, at the beginning, we just imagining maybe one theater can show it for one week.

But then theaters show it for eight weeks

total of six cinemas showed it.

But, even after eight weeks, our film was actually doing quite well.

It was selling out, selling out in all cinemas.

But, the cinema told us:

"Sorry Andrew, we won't have any screening time for you next week."

And, we're asking: "Why, our film is making money for you guys?

They just said: "I'm sorry, we just don't have any slot for you guys."

So, that's an interesting part

because normally that won't happen in Hong Kong.

Do I, why do you think there was that?

Of course, they won't tell us the reason.

But, you can, kind of, know it,

It's kind of self-censorship

from the cinemas.

But, yeah, we don't have the chance to continue to show in the cinema.

So, we showed in the community.

So, we did 150 screening since February this year

in universities,

community centers

different high schools

even churches.

Yeah, people are eager to watch our film

and so we continue to screen it for,

I think, five to six months in the community, yeah.

And then it won Best film at the Hong Kong Film Award.

How did you feel about that?

So we were very surprised and of course we're honor.

I think this film not just because that the

in terms of production quality,

I don't think we are in that level.

But, I think in terms of the meaning,

in terms of the response from the Hong Kong people

And I think people appreciate it.

because of the timing of the film that it was released.

And so people are saying: "Well, seems like things that we are talking in the film

are actually happening in Hong Kong.

So people're saying: "Oh,you guys are, like, prophesizing in the future and then it's really happening."

So, it's kind of generate more awareness to the Hong Kong people, yeah.

I know some people said the things that happened in the movie

could never actually happen in Hong Kong.

But then as you say, shortly after it came out

there was the five Hong Kong booksellers that were detained in mainland China.

And past few months, there's the interpretations

Beijing is making about Hong Kong legislators.

So, do you feel that opinion has changed that this could never happen?

Well, actually, people are saying that

we should change the title of the film.

Instead of "Ten years", we should name it "This year".

Because, we are imagining the future

10 years from now, right, 2025.

But, just a few months after we released the film,

then people are saying that things are already happening in Hong Kong.

And they can really sense these things are going to happen in the near future.

Actually, when we do the film,

all the directors kind of have this in mind that

we don't want to see

the story that we talked about in the movie happened in real life.

But unfortunately things are really happening as you said.

Some of the conspiracy theory that we talked about in the first film - Extras.

People can associate in actual the Mong Kok incident

in February this year you know.

That's Fishball Revolution

Yeah, Fishball Revolution

People're kind of associate:

"Oh, this is what you're talking about in the film."

And of course, the [...] bookstore in one of the film Local Egg,

we talked about a secret bookstore.

So people're kind of associate that things that we're talking about is sort of really happening.

And, when we do the local community screenings

especially after the Q&A session,

we always say that: "In real life,

things are more ridiculous than what we're talking in the film.

And because of the political nature of the film,

have you faced any censorship or pressure because of it?

Not directly, yeah.

Actually we were asked very often that:

"Are you guys being followed,

Are you guys afraid?"

No, so far no.

But, I think, I think but we can feel the pressure,

especially when we know when we were nominated in the Hong Kong Film Award.

The mainland news Global Times wrote an article about us saying that:

"We are spreading virus, spreading despair."

I believe the specific term they use for the film was "thought virus".

Yes, thought virus.

Congratulations!

So actually, yes after this news came up and we were just saying that:

"Oh we got a free publicity."

Because, in Hong Kong you know, when the government say something that you're no good,

It means that's very good.

So it's kind of help us to do.

People are more aware of the film

and really believe that our film is doing something right.

It's definitely actually a good way

to understand what things are happening in Hong Kong.

Any plans to take the film to the mainland?

Well, there's a privated version, yeah.

I heard it was quite popular among the mainland people.

Oh really?

Yeah, it's a lot of download, a lot of BT, I heard.

Of course it's illegal.

But that's probably the only way that we could go in.

I don't think you'll be making that box office there.

No, there's no box office there.

But we release in Taiwan the film.

And, we went to, I think, over 30 international film festivals just past year.

And so I think we did arouse quite a few interests in different areas in the world.

And we just released a DVD,

and recent online.

So hopefully more people will see the film

For the China Uncensored viewers in the US,

is there any way they can see the film?

I think we're going to release it in iTunes and Google Play in the US as well.

So, I think you guys have a chance.

But, I think and I can share a little bit about our next project.

because it's related with "Ten years"

Because we went to a lot of international film festivals,

we got the idea of that "Ten years", I think, it's a very local topic about Hong Kong.

But when we show it in different countries,

people're very interested in

not only to Hong Kong but they kind of reflect of their own country.

So, we can have a project called "Ten years international"

we're going to go to different places to do a local version of "Ten years".

For example, we going to Taiwan,

we're going to do a "Ten years Taiwan".

We can have local Taiwan directors to do a "Ten years" about Taiwan.

We've planed to do in Thailand,

in japan and in Korea.

So, we kind of want to bring this idea to different places

and continue the discussion about the future of different countries.

So that's gonna be interesting, yeah.

Great!

Well, since you mentioned that the next project,

you know, I've been told I have a certain cinematic appeal.

I don't know if you would ever consider maybe casting me

and something particularly involves the sentient machines

It looks like a Matrix.

Something like that.

Something like that, yeah, that'd be good yeah.

I'll make a "Ten years" in US, yeah.

I probably cast you.

Well, 10 years in the future the US would be pretty disgusting.

Well, I wouldn't talk about this because I was in New York

Cut the cameras!

Yeah, cut the cameras.

One final question

at the end of the film, it ends with the phrase: "It's not too late."

I know, people have been saying that Hong Kong has become very pessimistic and cynical.

Do you feel it's not too late, do you feel there's still hope?

Well, I think it's going to be difficult.

I think the control and censorship is going to be even more tighten in Hong Kong.

But the same time,

with all the screenings,

we've talked to many people, especially younger generation in Hong Kong.

and we feel that they are concerned about the future

and they really want to fight for something

that they used to enjoy in Hong Kong,

freedom of speech,

the freedom to do their own things,

to have a good jurisdictions system in Hong Kong.

I think, young people are very

I think, stepping up,

and I think, I can see the future in them.

It's going to be difficult but I think more people kind of going to fight for

what we used to have as an international city in Hong Kong.

But, yeah, so that's why we think it's never too late.

If we lose hope and then we're going to very be pessimistic.

But I think we can keep the hope

and keep the hope in people, especially.

So ,yeah, that's how we see it.

Well, thank you very much for joining me Andrew.

The film is called "Ten years", be sure to check it out

and keep your eye open for the US release.

I highly recommend the film.

Thank you.

Thanks again.

[仙女不下凡] - 第01集 / Life is not a Fairyfale - Duration: 48:01.

Episode 1

Wake up! You're going to be late

You haven't put your make-up on

Wake up.

You're all so lazy

Let me sleep in for a while

Sleep in?

I accompanied Mr. Xu for dinner and drinks

I didn't get back until 2:00 AM

Oh, so hard

Where's Suzhen?

Ask her to come get her make-up on. Hurry

Why does she need to put on make-up?

I went to the consignment store

I had my friend bring me some new make-up

I want to try it out on Suzhen

Just try it out on me

You?

This lipstick color is very pretty

Is it from Japan or the States?

It doesn't matter which country it's from

It'll still look the same on your plain face

I'd rather try it on Suzhen

You.

She's much prettier than you are

Don't say that

Give it to me

A lot of big bosses like me

Hurry and tell her to come in

Stop talking to me

Hurry up, hurry

I just don't understand you girls

You're always so slow at everything

OK

Hurry up

Go get her

While we're on the subject of Suzhen,

she's been sticking a lot of these on the wall

See if she can fill up the whole wall

"1972 Taipei"

"To Youth Mountain they come in pairs"

"Songs of birds floating in the air"

"The babbling stream gently flows"

"It's nature's music where ever one goes"

"Ooh, ooh, Youth Mountain"

"A carefree stroll on Youth Mountain"

"To Youth Mountain they come in pairs"

"Songs of birds floating in the air"

"The babbling stream gently flows"

Are you done?

You think you can just laze around and sing?

I'm all wet

Why did you do that?

Why did you pretend to be Auntie Xiu to scare me?

If I really did scare you,

you wouldn't get my feet wet like this

Your toenails are painted so red,

I knew it was you

I just came out

The floor's so clean

You already cleaned them all?

But I haven't done the dishes yet

or cleaned the rooms

Sister Yanhong asked me to do some laundry

I'm afraid I won't be able to finish

and Auntie Xiu will yell at me again

Sister Yanhong is calling you again?

She agreed to collect the laundry once a day

Why is she acting like this now?

She's asking you to collect 2-3 times a day

Has she considered where else she can find

Has she considered where else she can find

a hard-working girl like you these days?

What if you faint from over-work?

No, I won't

Oh, Auntie Xiu was asking for you

Now?

Yes, let's go

Let's go

My sheets

We're here. Where's Auntie Xiu?

Why is she asking for me?

She got some make-up

from the consignment store

She wants you to try them out

On me?

I'm not interested in make-up

Don't all girls like to be pretty?

I'll help you since Auntie Xiu isn't here

Which one?

This one

Let's try on this one

The color's brighter

Look at your features

Even without make-up, you look like a fairy

Even without make-up, you look like a fairy

Put some on

Aying always says I look like a fairy

But why would a fairy work at a gentleman's club

doing laundry and cleaning floors?

Put on some lipstick. You'll look pretty

Look over there. The lighting's better

Come here.

It's so pretty.

You don't look like you're under 18

Oh, no

What happened?

Auntie Xiu has no business making you up

Don't tell me she's going to ask you

to accompany men tonight

I don't think so

My mother has an agreement with Auntie Xiu

I'm only here to do cleaning, not accompany men

I'm only here to do cleaning, not accompany men

That's good, then

I just want to tell you,

you should hurry and clear your debts

Get out of here as soon as possible

Don't ever be like me,

useless for the rest of my life

Aying, don't say that

It's OK. I accept it

I don't take it too hard

Hold on

Mr. Xu gave me this wrapping paper last night

Mr. Xu gave me this wrapping paper last night

I don't know if you like it

It's so pretty! I like it

Thank you

Good you like it

I still think jewelry is better

I don't see any beauty in this piece of paper

Luckily, you asked me to save it for you

I don't know why either

Every time I see such pretty wrapping paper

or beautiful scenic pictures,

it makes me so happy

I lifts me up more and more

Really?

Why don't I feel like that?

So you're done with the lipstick?

Suzhen, this is a good color for you

You can do the dishes later tonight

Get yourself made up

and wait for me in the room

I'll come get you, understand?

Auntie Xiu, Suzhen is here to clean up

Auntie Xiu, Suzhen is here to clean up

Don't ask her to accompany men

What are you thinking

Do you think I'm like that?

Suzhen, I need you to do me a favor tonight

You can also earn a little extra

Wait for me in the room, OK?

I'd like to earn a little extra too

You.

Don't be lazy! It's almost dark

Hurry up. Put some make-up on.

Patrons are here

OK, OK

Nag, nag, nag

OK, I'll go put on make-up

Thank you, thank you

Suzhen

Suzhen, what are you doing here?

I thought I asked you to wait in the room?

You.

See?

I can't leave anything to you

Come on. Let's go

What do you want me to do?

Come. Leave the dishes alone

Hurry up. Follow me

Say nice things in a bit

Don't be like this

I told you there's

no traveling singer here

Coming.

I don't care.

Mr. Lin, I'm so sorry to make you wait so long

Mr. Lin, I'm so sorry to make you wait so long

I know you want to listen to singing

So I made some preparations

See, this is our Suzhen

She's pretty and she sings good too

Pretty. Very pretty

Why haven't I seen her before?

Mr. Lin

Suzhen is only here to sing.

No drinks

Have a seat

OK. No drinks.

We'll do this

You sing to everyone

If you do well, I'll give you this

OK?

Suzhen,

you like to sing, and do it well

Don't let this opportunity go today

Don't embarrass me

Mr. Lin

I'll sing Tainan Nocturne, OK?

That's a good song

OK

OK.

Sir

Suzhen can sing and perform

She's played the harmonica since she was young

So do you want to hear a song or the harmonica?

Here. Hold this

This is my box

Yes, yes

Sir?

I'm fine with anything

How about a song?

Sing a song? OK.

Put your hands together everyone

"On Tainan streets there drifts a song"

"Heard from bars on winters long"

"Warming the wine, awaits the maiden fair"

"The cold in my heart becomes despair"

Ma'am, the cops are here

Excuse me, we've got to go now

Hurry up. Here.

Let's have a drink. Come on.

Why are they running away?

Didn't you know?

Suzhen's a minor?

Here, Mr. Liao

Hide here for now. Come on

Stay hidden

In here

Don't make a sound

If you get caught working here,

I'll have to pay a fine

Stay hidden

Grandpa, you're back

Grandpa, did you find Mama?

Yes

Did you get the money?

I knew she'd have money for gambling,

but not for the household

I told her she owes the grocery store

If she doesn't clear it, we won't have rice

I've already run out of things to tell her

But she keeps telling me she can't get the money

What do I do?

I need to pay my school fees by tomorrow

I'm the only one in class who hasn't paid

Suzhen, you're the class rep

Did the teacher yell at you?

No, the teacher didn't yell at me

But if I go to school without paying,

it's too embarrassing

Suzhen, are you done with the laundry?

Yes, I'm done

OK, you're done

Come help me sort the vegetables. I'll cook

OK

I don't know what happened to my back

If I bend over, I can't get up and it hurts

Grandma, you rest. I've got it

Let her do it

Did you get the money?

No

Sister, I don't understand. Can you teach me?

This?

Carry over to the tenths

Carry this over, then bring this back

Take a seat over there for now

I'll teach you later

No matter what

This family is able to survive because

of the money earned by Suzhen's mother

If this is what her mother decided,

we've also got to let Suzhen know,

so she can mentally prepare for it

Finished eating?

Grandma will take you out to play

Suzhen, leave them alone

Sit here. Grandpa wants to talk to you

Here.

Suzhen

I went to ask your mother for money

She told me

we need another person to help earn money

Your mother's decided

to send you to Auntie Xiu's gentleman's club

to do housekeeping to earn some money

Grandpa's reluctant too

You're so young

But we have so many people in the house

And we need to survive

So can you sacrifice a little?

Grandpa

I don't want to work at Auntie Xiu's place

Tell Mama I want to study

I don't want to work

Suzhen

Don't cry, don't cry

I'll help us think of something

But your mother already took

a year's salary in advance

You don't have a choice

Grandpa

Hush, don't cry

Don't cry. Don't cry

Suzhen, don't worry

Auntie Xiu guaranteed

that if you go to her place,

you'll just do housekeeping

We'll get some money next week

This money is very important to us now

So you have to sacrifice a little

Suzhen, you're the eldest child in the family

Sacrifice your education for now

You can finish school in another year, OK?

You can finish school in another year, OK?

Grandpa, I don't want to. I want to study

Please. Listen to Grandpa

I can't bear for you to go to work either

I don't want to let you go

Listen to me

What is it?

Suzhen, get up

I want to talk to you

Enough. Keep your voice down

What for?

Mama, why do I have to keep quiet?

We can hear you just fine

Why do you need to shout?

She can't hear

I can't get her up

Mama

You must think you have a very cruel mother

You must think you have a very cruel mother

But when I went to work at the gentleman's club,

did you guys feel sorry for me?

We know all about this

So what if you know?

Isn't asking me for money

every month forcing me?

Have you ever thought of how I feel?

Do you think I want to drink and gamble?

I was brought over as a child bride

Who would've guessed your son

would die so young?

Ever since I can remember,

Mama fought with Grandpa and Grandma

I didn't understand much of the adult world

But at least I understood that

Mama was really suffering inside

Mama, Mama

Enough. We know.

Am I that capable?

I know you're suffering

No, I'm not, Mama

Your mother and I...

I'm not that capable

Enough already

Suzhen! Wake up

Mama wants to talk to you

Get up

Sister, what are you afraid of?

I'm afraid Mama will send me to work

But I want to study, not work

But Grandpa said if you don't go to work,

But Grandpa said if you don't go to work,

I won't have money to study either

Zhiren, one day if I'm not here anymore,

you've got to listen to Grandpa and Grandma

Take care of yourself and little sister, OK?

Take care of yourself and Little Sister, OK?

Sister, I'll be afraid if you're not here

What's there to be afraid of? Boys are brave

Promise you'll be brave

Come on. Let's go to bed

You're here

Come. Here.

Just a minute. I'll be right back

This is for Suzhen

It has heavy clothes in case it's cold

It has heavy clothes in case it's cold

Tell her to wear them

I know, I know

This.

This is for her to play

OK, OK. Where is she?

She's cleaning the vegetables

Why is she washing these when she's leaving?

She said she wanted to help

How about letting her have lunch first?

What is there to eat?

It'll be sweet potato leaves again

What's wrong with that?

After she goes to the club,

even if there's good food, she won't be happy

Hurry up.

Follow me, quick

Quick

Listen to me

If you keep staying here,

you'll have endless housework

If you go to Auntie Xiu's place,

you can eat meat and fish at every meal

Plus you'll earn some money

I'm doing this for your own good

This isn't for my own good

I want to study, not work

Even if I earn some money,

it'll all end up on your gambling table

What do you know?

Do you think you'll get food if I don't gamble?

I don't want to work at Auntie Xiu's

I don't want to go

What's wrong with you?

When I was your age, I was already working

When I was your age, I was already working

What's wrong with working?

Since you're the eldest in the family,

you've got to accept your fate

How about this?

I'll have your younger brother and sister work?

Suzhen, Grandpa wants to talk to you

Grandpa, I don't want to go

Hush.

Suzhen, just sacrifice a little

Do it for the family,

and for your brother and sister

It's only for a year

We agreed that you'd come back in a year

The money you earn in this year

will be used for the other kids' education

and household expenses

Grandpa will help you save some money

so you go back to school after that

Just for a year?

Yes, one year

I already put the harmonica you like to play

in with your clothes

You can play when you have time

Oh,

Grandpa and Grandma like to hear to you play

So think of us when you play

So think of us when you play

Good girl

You'll be back in a year

Sister

Zhiren, while I'm gone,

Zhiren, while I'm gone,

you've got to listen to Grandpa and Grandma

and take care of Little Sister, OK?

Mama, use the money I earn this year

Mama, use the money I earn this year

for household expenses

Don't use it for gambling anymore, OK?

I know.

Let's go. Hurry up.

Quick

Hurry up

OK. Let's go.

Grandpa

You can come out now, the police are gone

Suzhen, come on

Auntie Xiu, are the police gone?

Yes, can't you see all the patrons left too?

But there's one patron

who stayed behind

He asked for you

In a minute, you need to perform well

What do you mean?

Come on. Let's go

Here.

Sit down

Mr. Liao, I've brought you your request

Why aren't there drinks?

Little Sister, bring the drinks. Hurry

That's OK. I asked her to clear it away

She's still young and I've been drinking

She's still young and I've been drinking

We'll have fruit and tea for now

Mr. Liao really cares for Suzhen

Suzhen, let me tell you

Mr. Liao often meets his clients here

He's a valuable customer

He's like a brother to us

Mr. Liao, let us serve you tonight

I forgot

I have some things to take care of

I've got to go now

Aying, don't get yourself so drunk

Aying, don't get yourself so drunk

Have some tea

Thank you

Don't be nervous

I just want to listen to you sing

What do you want to hear?

Whatever you like

Aren't you here to earn more money?

I just take my wages.

I don't want anything else

I thought all the girls here

wanted to earn more money

You seem different

I am different than they are

Auntie Xiu only asked me to sing for today

So what do you normally do?

OK

If you don't want to say, I won't force you

Here

What's wrong with your hands?

I know my hands are ugly

But even during winter

I have to do the dishes and clean the floors

So you've been doing heavy work

This place is very complicated

It's not suitable for you

What I do isn't important

I thought you wanted to hear me sing?

What do you want to hear?

The one you didn't finish just now

Sit down to sing

"On Tainan streets there drifts a song"

"Heard from bars on winters long"

"Warming the wine, awaits the maiden fair"

"The cold in my heart becomes despair"

"No hope, no hope, I cry, 'what do I care'"

That's good. That's very good

If I bring guests over next time,

can you come sing for us?

You can treat me as a friend

Then you'll be singing for your friends

Is that OK?

I guess so

But, Mr. Liao, you're more like my elder

Yes

I think I'm about the same age as your father

I think I'm about the same age as your father

Then, I'll be going now

Just a minute

Can you tell me what you like?

I'll buy you something

That's OK

I've taken your money

Besides, I don't like anything in particular

All the same,

I want to buy something for you

as a token of my appreciation

There's really no need to

I like to look at scenic photos

and printed wrapping paper

I thought girls your age liked to dress up

I thought girls your age liked to dress up

and wanted new clothes

You like those kind of things?

I have to go

Wait

Thank you

Miss, please don't block the way, OK?

Mr. Liao from last night is here again

What does he want with me?

How should I know?

Did you offend him?

He looks very stern

I didn't have the courage to tell Auntie Xiu,

so I brought him to the backyard

You should go apologize

Mr. Liao

I'm sorry for rushing out

I'm sorry for rushing out

Did I cause you any inconvenience?

No

What brings you here, Mr. Liao?

Nothing

I was passing by this way

I thought I'd give you this

I heard you like scenic photos

I just happen to have some

It's nothing valuable,

Look at it as a thank you for singing to me

Do you like them?

They're so pretty

Every one of them is pretty

I really like them. Thank you

Thank you

This melon vine is so pretty

You think so too?

Every time I come here to work, I look at it

Every time I come here to work, I look at it

I think they're pretty too

But Aying and Auntie Xiu always make fun of me

for looking at these boring things

This melon vine,

should be the prettiest scene in this place

If only there was a way to capture it,

it would look as good as these

The dishes are here

Suzhen

Mr. Liao

Thank you

Here

This is Suzhen's pay for the next half-year

Make sure it's right

I'll go do my work first

Thank you

No problem

Grandpa

Grandpa

Grandpa, what are you doing here?

It's nothing. I was just.

You're here for money again.

You took my money?

Suzhen, how've you been recently?

You haven't answered my question

What money did you take?

It was.

You're taking my salary again, aren't you?

Grandpa, how can you do this to me?

Grandpa

Suzhen

I really didn't want to come

But your mother owes so much money

Debt collectors come for money every day

There's nothing your grandmother or I can do

I can't help it. I've got to take your money

But if you keep coming to take the money,

when will I get to leave this place?

You said it would only be for a year

So many years have already gone by now

I've been here for several years already

Please be patient

Do it for your brother and sister

Their tuition is due now

If you don't make money for them,

they won't be able to go to school

I wanted to give them an education

That's why I came here to work

But if Mama keeps gambling,

when will I ever get to leave this place?

Suzhen, just hold on a few more years

For the sake of the family,

just sacrifice a little longer, OK?

It's not that I can't hang on

or sacrifice for the sake of the family

or sacrifice for the sake of the family

But I'm understanding more and more,

that I'll never be able to leave this place

Do you know that?

Suzhen

Forget it

Grandpa, you can go back now

I'll be going, then

Mr. Liao, what are you doing here?

I saw you sitting here alone

You don't look happy. What happened?

Nothing

Maybe I'm just a little tired

How about this?

I'll talk to Auntie Xiu

and have her let you off for the day

I'll take you out for a walk

What happened?

Did I say something wrong?

No, it's not because of you

It's my grandfather

He came to take my salary again today

At first, he said it was just going to be a year

Today he came and took my salary again

When will I get to leave this place?

If you're willing,

I'll take you away from here

To tell the truth,

I liked you from the first moment I saw you

I'm sincere

If you're willing to be with me,

no matter what problems you face in the future,

I'll help you solve them all

But, is that OK?

Your family.

Suzhen,

I wanted to tell you all this the last time

As long as you don't mind my family or status,

As long as you don't mind my family or status,

I promise to take care of you forever

I promise to take care of you forever

Don't stay here and suffer anymore

Let me take good care of you

OK?

What's with the onions?

It looks like they were frozen and defrosted.

Oh? Mr. Yoon Suho!

Mr. Yoon, what are you doing here?

What do you think? I'm working.

Did you come here after you got fired?

Fired? That's hurtful.

Can't you call it a transfer?

Fired or transferred, it's all the same.

Will he come back with CEO Yoon's backing?

Is this successor training?

So he'll inherit this successful restaurant?

Are jobs that scarce?

10 Bizarre Aircraft We Love, and the Stories Behind Them - Duration: 4:51.

It's easy to love these funny-looking planes just for their sheer weirdness.

But many of them were built to prove a point or to advance the science of aerodynamics.

10 Bizarre Aircraft We Love, and the Stories Behind Them:

10.

Sikorsky X-Wing The Sikorsky X-Wing was built to combine the

speed and propulsive mechanisms of a jet with the vertical takeoff abilities of a helicopter.

Unfortunately, the program was cancelled in 1988, a long time after and far, far away

from the first successful X-Wing.

9.

Grumman X-29 In 1984, the Grumman X-29 proved that the

underlying lifting properties of jet wing wouldn't be compromised even if the wings

were angled in reverse.

8.

Alexander Lippisch's Aerodyne To look at Alexander Lippisch's Aerodyne is

to be baffled at how engineers managed to get such a crazy thing off the ground.

And it's far from alone in the gallery of bizarrely shaped aircraft we've seen over

the years.

From balance-driven helicopters to inflatable airplanes, even a cursory tour through the

history of aviation reveals some strange beasts that look little like the jet shape we're

all accustomed to.

7.

Scaled Composites Model 281 Proteus Burt Rutan designed the thin, tandem-wing

Scaled Composites Model 281 Proteus, first flown in the late 1990s, to investigate the

use of aircraft as high altitude telecommunications relays.

Thanks to its efficient design, this model was able to fly at 65,000 feet for over 18

hours.

6.

Blohm & Voss BV 141 The Blohm & Voss BV 141 is a stark reminder

that symmetry is not required for a flying machine.

This WWII-era German wonder was designed as reconnaissance aircraft, and while few dozen

were built and flown, it lost out to the the equally odd-looking Focke-Wulf Fw 189 and

never reached full production.

5.

Rutan Model 202 Boomerang The Rutan Model 202 Boomerang is asymmetrical

for an entirely different reason.

This 1996 aircraft was built to still be controllable in the event of an engine failure for either

of its twin engines.

4.

McDonnell XF-85 Goblin The McDonnell XF-85 Goblin was built soon

after WWII as a so-called "parasite fighter," meaning it was built to be deployed from the

bomb bay of a larger plane, the B-36.

In the December 1948 PopMech, General Hoyt S. Vandenburg outlined how the little plane

fit into America's new Air Force.

But, in 1949, the U.S. scraped the Goblin alongside other parasite fighter projects,

and focused instead on developing methods for airborne refueling.

3.

Hughes H-4 Hercules "Spruce Goose" A 200-ton monstrosity, the H-4 Hercules was

nicknamed the Spruce Goose because of its wooden frame.

The heavy transport aircraft is the largest fixed-winged seaplane ever built, and was

designed by filmmaker and business magnate Howard Hughes.

Only one was every built; today it sits in a museum in Oregon.

For Scientific Discovery: AeroJelly Rarely does a researcher invent an entirely

new method of flying.

But 2014 November, at New York University, applied mathematician Leif Ristroph did just

that.

Ristroph's naturally stable flying machine, the AeroJelly, is only slightly larger than

your hand, and pumps its four flapping wings like a flying jellyfish.

"My lab is interested in studying air dynamics and flapping wing flight," says Ristroph,

"and I was trying to design something that was stable without any sort of feedback."

And Because You Just Can: de Lackner HZ-1 Aerocycle

The balance-driven de Lackner HZ-1 Aerocycle was built with the dual hope of flying single-man

reconnaissance missions and building the greatest Bond-villain chair of all time.

A pair of crashes grounded the idea, but the dream lived on.

5 Easy Ways to Become Politically Active | Activism 101 - Duration: 4:40.

Hello and welcome to my first resistance week!

I'm hoping this will be the first of several weeklong video series, when I can manage it,

all centered around their own theme.

This week is about basic activism.

I'll be sharing three videos this week (including this one) designed to help you immediately

become a more engaged citizen.

I know getting involved can seem overwhelming, but it's actually a lot easier than it looks.

I think the most intimidating part of expressing your beliefs outside of a social media post

is figuring out what actions you can take.

Especially if you are young and maybe cannot vote yet, or if you live in an area where

your elected officials actively work against what you'd like them to do.

Today we're talking about easy-ish ways you can become more politically active.

If nothing else, these small steps are typically more than most people do, so at the very least

you can feel morally smug around annoying relatives that do nothing but complain.

First is the easiest one.

Make sure you're registered to vote (if you are old enough).

It doesn't matter if it's a Presidential election year or not, there are all sorts of elections

every year.

Every state has different rules, so it's better to get registered now than find out a week

before midterms that it's too late to register.

The harder your state makes it for you to vote only shows how powerful your vote could

be.

Why put so much effort into denying you your right if you can't really make a change?

Your vote is your first weapon of resistance, so don't waste it.

Flippable is a good resource on upcoming opportunities to change the election landscape.

Next, be visibly resistant, if you can.

I understand you may live in an area or even with people who do not share your political

beliefs.

You may not have many safe opportunities to express your frustration, so take every opportunity

you do have, no matter how small.

You may be surprised at how many people feel the same way you do.

When the Women's March took place, the protests that really stood out were not the hundred

of thousands on the coast but instead the small towns and groups that marched in the

heartland, in a freezing blizzard, in towns with only a few hundred residents.

Find and take opportunities to resist in your community.

You may find likeminded friends.

Don't think your opinion doesn't count because you are young.

As far as I know, there's no age limit on calling your representatives.

As long as you live in the state or district your congressperson represents, you are well

within your rights to call them.

Calling is the simplest action you can take and it can be very effective.

It may be a bit nerve wracking at first, but your representatives work for you.

It's their job to listen to you.

Unfortunately there are dozens of things going on all the time to call about, so your best

bet is to focus on the most time sensitive and crucial issues first.

Celeste Pewter, who runs the best Twitter I've seen if you're confused or overwhelmed

with everything, has a website with phone and email scripts on current issues to call

your senators and house representatives about.

This website also has links to help you find contact information for your reps and clear

details about what's going on and what you can do.

I'll link both her twitter and her website in the description.

There's also a SUPER awesome website called 5Calls that takes your location and tells

you exactly who to call and has personalized scripts on issues of your choice.

I'll link that too.

It's important to stay informed, but it's also easier than ever.

Countable is an app you can download that will inform you of upcoming bills and allow

you to voice your opinions on them.

While calling is likely still a better way to be heard than app feedback, Countable is

a good resource for staying up to date on what bills are being voted on so you can better

decide whether you'd like to help or oppose them.

Work on expanding your news sources.

The worst barrier to being politically informed is isolation, so if you only ever get one

view point you shouldn't be surprised if your focus is narrow.

However, you should be wary of potential fake news sources.

I made a video on spotting fake news a few months ago, check it out!

Reach out!

It's hard to navigate this new landscape, especially on your own.

Making friends and allies is crucial for your growth as an activist.

Your friends might be tapped into subsets you hadn't even thought of.

Later this week I'll share tips on how to be a good ally and how to utilize your network,

but understand that the only way we'll win is by being stronger together.

I'm here for you and I hope to help you build the skills you need so that you can

be here for me.

So let's summarize: Register to vote and participate in local elections, be as visibly

resistant as you can safely manage, call your representatives and voice your opinion no

matter your age, expand your information sources and be better informed, and finally, make

lots of friends!

That's five super easy ways to instantly become more politically active.

Just clicking on this video shows you have the drive to be more involved.

Good job for taking the first steps to being an active citizen.

I'm proud of you and cannot wait to see what you'll accomplish.

Resistance is scary, but you're not alone.

If you liked this video, please subscribe and consider supporting my Patreon.

Support from my patrons helps me make videos like these.

I'm an author, so I talk about writing a lot, but a lot of my videos have taken and

will likely continue to take an active stance.

Once again, links mentioned will be available in the description below.

Thank you for watching and please tune in Wednesday for another video!

Bye.

MOUNTAIN GOATS STUDY AT GLACIER NATIONAL PARK - Duration: 2:12.

glacier national park in partnership

with the University of Montana has begun

a three-year research study to develop a

broader understanding of how mountain

goats and their potential predators are

affected by Rhodes people and trails in

the Logan Pass area recently mountain

goat colouring efforts began

approximately 20 to 25 goats will be

collared of the estimated 1500 goats in

the park or approximately one-point-six

percent of the estimated park-wide

population gps and VHF radio collars are

being utilized to collect data from

goats regarding their movement and use

of the Logan Pass area throughout the

year while the goat is immobilized for

colouring researchers also collect hair

blood and siegel samples colors will

remain on goats for three years at which

point a mechanism will release allowing

the collar to fall to the ground

the caller will then be retrieved by

researchers which means the goats will

only have to be handled once mountain

goats will be captured only at locations

that are safe for the goats away from

Cliffs roadways and water and also safe

for the field operations crew in

addition to colouring this study will

also incorporate goat observations

visitor messaging and temporary

marketing techniques research on bighorn

sheep will be conducted simultaneously

no collars will be placed on bighorn

sheep as individual sheep are easier to

identify do horn variations this study

is an attempt to balance the parks need

to develop a long-term science-based

management strategies for the Logan Pass

area and the going-to-the-sun road

corridor while providing a quality

visitor experience that celebrates the
