Hello everyone and welcome to this weeks English lesson.

Today I am giving you 5 common English sayings.

These are quite short and simple sayings we use in informal situations.

We use them in everyday English with our friends and our family.

So the first one is check it out.

Check it out.

This means basically look at this or watch this.

So usually if you're showing somebody something you would say check it out.

For example if you are going to do a back flip you might say check it out I can do a

back flip and show your friend.

It's usually used for quite impressive stuff or maybe if somebody is showing off.

The next one is why not.

Why not.

This is used as a nice way to agree to do something usually.

Your friend might say do you want to come to the pub later?

And you can say why not.

Yeah sure why not.

We are basically saying I can't think of any reasons not to so of course I will.

Why not.

The next one is no way.

No way.

This is used for two situations.

The first one is to disagree.

Say you are having an argument with your friend about what's better football or rugby.

You could say no way football is much better than rugby.

The second way of using no way is when you're surprised or shocked by something.

Maybe somebody in your family is telling you they've won a lot of money and you could say

no way that's amazing.

You're almost saying that's not possible or I don't believe you.

You're saying no way that's amazing.

The next one we have is chuck us.

This means can you pass me or can you give me.

Chuck us.

Maybe if you are at a party you might say chuck us a beer meaning pass me a beer.

Can you get me a beer.

The last one we have so number five is hang on.

Hang on.

This is an informal way of saying wait a moment or in a minute.

For example if you are reading a newspaper and your friend says chuck us the paper you

might say hang on I'm still reading it.

You need to remember these ones I have given you are more informal.

For example you wouldn't use hang on in a restaurant.

Maybe you are the waiter and the customer asks you for something you wouldn't use hang

on in this situation.

It would be rude to English people.

You would say please can you wait a moment.

So just remember these are great to use everyday in English with people you know.

How to Fall in Love in English!! - Duration: 3:30.

Oh my God! It's Valentine's Day

And I want to tell this person how much I love them

But I don't know HOW in English!

Don't worry! I've got you covered!

Here are some ways you can let them know:

Of course "I like you" can just be friendly

But! If you say it a certain way...

Then of course it means you like them more than a friend

You're interested in being more than just friends with that person

You could also say:

You...

...complete me!

No, that's too much. Too much

But really it doesn't need to be more complicated than saying "I like you"

Sure, add a winky face emoji if you really want to!

But that's all you need, it doesn't need to be more complicated than that

But maybe you want to be creepy and intense!

So how can you let someone know you love them, but also HOW MUCH you love them?

Let's look at the levels of how much you can love someone or like someone

We begin with "I like you"

Now this just means you're interested in the person

You want to get to know them better

They're attractive

That's fine

If you say "I'm into you"

That's a bit more than "like"

That's: "We need to cuddle right now!"

And you can modify it with:

"I'm REALLY into you!"

"I am totally into you!"

But maybe you are crazy about someone

In which case you could say you are:

"Gaga FOR" that person

Or "Gaga ABOUT"

Or "Gaga OVER" that person

Yes, like Lady Gaga

And that just means you are super super crazy about them

Example: "Ugh, He's Gaga for her... Annoying!"

If you're "smitten with" someone, you're drunk in love

It's that next level of...

Oh my God! I just think about them all the time

And I just want to be with them always

So if you have two friends who are seriously in love

And they're always together and they're really annoying

They are smitten with each other

Totally in love, and totally annoying

The next two are a more formal serious type of love

We can say "enamoured with" or "besotted with"

Pronunciation:

Again this sounds more formal and a more serious type of love

So if that's what you're feeling, you are enamoured with that person

But then love can get a bit crazy and a bit scary sometimes

And then that person is obsessed!

A synonym of "obsessed" is "Infatuated"

This is the type of love that usually...

People feel for celebrities

Oh my God I know everything about Nicolas Cage

I know his birthday, I know his cat's birthday,

I know his starsign

Wow, I'm infatuated!

Pronunciation:

And it means the same as "Obsessed"

But with love

Scary love

So if you have a special someone this Valentine's Day

S. Korea, U.S., Japan hold video conference after N. Korea missile launch - Duration: 0:41.

Defense officials from Seoul, Washington and Tokyo held a video conference to discuss countermeasures

for North Korea's missile launch.

According to South Korea's defense ministry on Tuesday, the officials from the three countries

condemned the launch and agreed that it was a clear violation of UN resolutions.

They also agreed that North Korea's missile program is a grave threat to the peace and

stability of Northeast Asia.

Separately, Seoul and Washington agreed to deploy a U.S. strategic asset to the Korean

Peninsula during their annual Key Resolve and Foal Eagle drills scheduled to begin in

early March... as a warning to Pyongyang that provocations will not be tolerated.

Korea's import prices up 2.1% in January m/m on back of strong crude prices - Duration: 0:50.

Korea's import prices are on an upward streak,... fueling concerns of stronger inflationary

pressure down the road.

The Bank of Korea says... import prices rose two-point-one percent last month from December

last year, marking the fifth straight month of increase.

The rise... came on the back of the cheaper Korean won against the greenback... as well

as robust global oil prices.

The average price of benchmark Dubai crude stood at slightly over 53 U.S. dollars last

month, up over three percent from a month ago.

From a year earlier, import prices spiked more than 13 percent,... marking the biggest

on-year jump in five years and three months.

Export prices were also up one-point-one percent in January from the previous month.

S. Korea's acting president denounces N. Korea's ballistic missile test - Duration: 1:53.

South Korea's acting president has denounced North Korea's missile test,... calling it

a grave provocation that threatens peace on the Korean peninsula and in Northeast Asia.

Song Ji-sun reports.

Chairing the weekly cabinet meeting on Tuesday,...

Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn said North Korea's attempt to further advance its missile technology

must be strongly condemned... as such a test is a direct challenge to UN Security Council

resolutions and warnings from the international community.

"The North Korean regime must realize that its provocations erode hope for peace on the

Korean peninsula.

It will only isolate itself, and drive the international community to unite toward denuclearizing

North Korea."

Hwang also ordered the foreign and defense ministries to closely coordinate with South

Korea's allies and the international community, so North Korea abandons its nuclear and missile

programs.

He said the military should maintain firm security conditions based on a strong South

Korea-U.S. alliance... in case of a follow-up provocation.

The emerging presidential hopeful, who's leading the polls among conservative candidates but

has deferred to say whether he will run,... also touched upon domestic issues.

He spoke on the government's efforts to rein in the spread of foot-and-mouth disease...

and called on the National Assembly to help foster the so-called fourth industrial revolution

movement by approving related bills.

UN Security Council condemns N. Korea's ballistic missile test - Duration: 2:32.

Our top story this afternoon...

The UN Security Council has spoken with one voice,... denouncing North Korea for its ballistic

missile launch over the weekend.

The North's first test-firing of the year is considered a more serious threat than previous

ones... as the missile's solid-fuel engine enables a faster and more stable launch.

Connie Kim reports.

All 15 members of the UN Security Council wasted little time unanimously adopting a

press statement on Monday calling North Korea's ballistic missile launch a "grave violation"

of multiple UN Security Council resolutions.

"The members of the Council stressed the importance of working to reduce tensions in the Korean

peninsula and beyond.

The members of the Council agreed that the Security Council would continue to closely

monitor the situation and take further significant measures in line with the Council's previously

expressed determination.

Thank you."

The meeting was requested by South Korea, the U.S. and Japan early Monday, Korea time,....

following the North's firing of a ballistic missile that traveled 500 kilometers before

landing in the East Sea.

"We were very unanimous in saying that obviously we have to implement the very robust strong

resolution that we already have -- that is a starting point -- and that we will keep

on watching the situation very seriously."

The U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, issued a statement on the North's missile

launch shortly after the meeting.

She called on all members of the council to use every available resource to make it clear

to North Korea that such launches are unacceptable and that it's time to hold Pyongyang accountable

with actions... not just words.

The Security Council does not issue a press statement following EVERY North Korean missile

launch, so watchers say THIS shows how seriously the international community considers this

latest threat.

Last year, the council adopted nine press statements following the North's nuclear tests

and ballistic missile launches.

The Pukguksong-2, ....the missile launched on Sunday, is considered even more threatening

as it's believed to have a solid-fuel propelled engine that enables a faster and more stable

launch without being tracked in advance.

As this was North Korea's first ballistic missile test since President Trump was sworn

in,... further measures and warnings against Pyongyang are likely to be announced in the

coming days.

Trump vows to deal with North Korea "very strongly" - Duration: 1:42.

World leaders have been lining up to deliver stinging condemnations of North Korea's latest

missile test.

President Trump is one of the latest to comment,... calling it a big problem that should be dealt

with strongly.

The Pentagon has vowed to protect South Korea and Japan from Pyongyang's increasing threats.

Oh Jung-hee has the details.

Following North Korea's test of a new type of ballistic missile on Sunday, U.S. President

Donald Trump has vowed to deal with North Korea "very strongly".

During a joint press conference at the White House with Canadian Prime Minister Justin

Trudeau on Monday, Trump referred to North Korea as a "big problem".

"Obviously North Korea is a big, big problem and we will deal with it very strongly."

Trump, however, did not elaborate on how he would respond to North Korea's missile and

nuclear threats.

Earlier in the day, the Pentagon strongly condemned Pyongyang's missile test... and

stressed Washington's "ironclad" commitment to protect the U.S. homeland and its allies,...

such as South Korea and Japan.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Pentagon spokesperson Jeff Davis described North Korea's

weapons programs as "unlawful"... and said they represent a clear, grave threat to U.S.

national security.

He highlighted that the U.S. stands ready to take all necessary measures to deter and

defeat threats posed to its allies' citizens and territories.

Along with the U.S.,.. various other nations have expressed their opposition to North Korea's

latest provocation,... including countries traditionally close to North Korea, like China

and Russia.

N. Korea's latest missile capable of flying 2,000 km: NIS - Duration: 0:31.

South Korea's spy agency says that the intermediate-range ballistic missile North Korea launched on

Sunday is capable of flying more than two-thousand kilometers.

The National Intelligence Service said Tuesday the missile reached a top speed of Mach eight-point-five,

or more than 10-thousand kilometers per hour.

The missile traveled about 5-hundred kilometers... and was launched at an angle of 89 degrees

from a tracked mobile launcher.

SLEEPING, AND THE WIFE HELPS TO DISPOSE OF THE BODY AND TEMPERED

WITH EVIDENCE BY CLEANING UP THE BLOOD.

AUTHORITIES WENT TO THE HOME AND FOUND A TON OF BLOOD THERE,

SO OF COURSE THAT'S ENOUGH TO DETAIN THEM, AND THEY'LL

PROBABLY FACE TRIAL.

LOOK, I'M HAPPY THAT WE HAVE A SENSE OF WHO THE SUSPECTS ARE,

BECAUSE THIS IS EXACTLY THE KIND OF STORY THAT WOULD LEAD TO

CRAZY CONSPIRACY THEORIES, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE OF WHAT THIS

GUY'S IDEOLOGY WAS.

HE HAS A WEBSITE, AND HE WILL THINGS ON THAT WEBSITE

LIKE, "YOU MUST BELIEVE THE WHITE RACE IS THE TRUE CHOSEN

PEOPLE OF OUR LORD GOD AND HAVE TO MINION OVER ALL CREATURES

OF THE EARTH AS GOD DEEMED THAT IT, THE WHITE RACE, SHOULD.

MEMBERS MUST NOT DATE OR BE MARRIED TO ANYONE OUTSIDE

OF THE WHITE RACE.

THE APPLICANT MUST NOT BELIEVE IN A MIXING OF RACES AND
