Waching daily Feb 3 2017

So last night the greenhouse didn't just collapse it it blew away.

It was really windy.

It's been catching a lot of wind at the side of the building.

Fortunately it happened, it was about half past nine

so me and Trevor were both in we heard a mighty crash and came out and the greenhouse was

like blown over here and there's like a communal parking area so luckily we were able to grab

it before it went into where the cars are.

I had reglazed it a lot with the poly carbonate but the, recently a lot of those had popped

out so they weren't actually in and most of the glass was roof so I think the wind had

gotten in underneath.

I'm really annoyed that I left the glass in the roof, I thought it would help anchor it

down but the reason I put the polycarbonate in was the smashed glass last year getting

everywhere.

So, so there's not really any overhead lighting out here.

So Trevor had his camping torch on and we went over the car park area because

there was lots of shards of glass.

I don't think that I will re umm put another greenhouse up because there's just not any,

any space for it to go.

And this is the spot where it was, I think it might make a nice flower bed

or you know the grass has already been trying to reclaim it.

There's some glass that we didn't get last night but this is kind of out of the way,

but we're just having a go at this now.

Again, that's why I'm so annoyed because we're just dealing with the broken glass area.

Anyway, my plan now is to just get it in the skip and uhh I think it's had it, hasn't it

really.

It's not done very well from the very beginning and you can see how bent up the frame is.

I don't think a bot of gorilla tape and wood is going to help it now.

I'm just about ready to get my seeds in as well so that's kind of annoying, I'm going

to get as much as I can, well it's probably a few weeks but it's the potato day tomorrow.

There is one at Montford Bridge by Shropshire Organic Gardeners and if you're local there

is also one at Harper Adams on Sunday which I did a video for last year.

So I'll link those both below I was going to get my seeds and things from

there and then look at putting them in but really I've got a few weeks yet to do that.

I think I can start stuff on the windowsill and may be get a cold frame outside rather

than having a big structure.

There just isn't really room for it like this area where the greenhouse is now is actually

the car park and the bit of the garden that we're using it's not actually ours it belongs

to the guy upstairs, so I, there isn't anywhere I can put something in and it's just too blowy

around the side to put the greenhouse back there so I'm not going to do that but

I don't know, it's going to be the tomatoes that I think, I dis well with tomatoes outside

last year but I loved just having the greenhouse just full of all of those varieties of tomatoes

and I've saved quite a lot of seed but maybe, maybe I'll be able to get them outside but

I don't know.

We'll see.

[sigh] it's annoying, it's very annoying but it could have been a lot worse, it's so fortunate

the time it happened that we were both in and the neighbour across the way came in and

just helped us drag the frame back up here out of the way.

So it's not the end of the world but it is a big irritation.

I will see you again on Wednesday with another allotment video which I will have some filming

from the potato day for you, to show you and hopefully on a more positive note.

Thanks for watching guys, bye bye.

Attack

First your briefing, starting with maritime deployment.

In the Netherlands, Army support is going according to plan.

Then, Minusma in Mali.

News from the EUTM mission in Somalia. These are the details.

A small group of soldiers are working in Mogadishu.

One of them is the only Dutch soldier involved in training the Somali army.

His name is Adam.

I train guys who can't read or write.

But I do need to explain to them how the alphabet works.

Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, etcetera.

That's difficult.

What other challenges have I got?

Last week, I found out...

That was my boss. He came to tell me about the threat we are facing right now.

We are at the highest threat level right now.

There is concrete evidence of a mortar attack this afternoon.

To Somalia now, where a terror attack on a hotel killed at least 14 people.

It started with a suicide car bombing at the hotel gate.

Witnesses say gunmen then rushed in shooting people at random.

There are many attacks and shootouts.

Every day, there is an incident. New threats are coming in every day.

Yesterday, there was an attack on a hotel on the beach.

Some guys came from the sea on to land.

My name is Adam. I'm 27. I've been a professional soldier for eight years.

I'm going to Somalia as a trainer.

I'm going to help the Somali government train NGOs, squad leaders.

They will then fight insurgents.

OK. First, defensive positions as a squad leader.

Last time in Afghanistan, there was a whole platoon of us.

Now I'll be on my own.

My family back home isn't quite so keen on me going to a war zone.

My mother was quite upset at first.

She doesn't want her son to be sent to war zones.

Now that she knows how much I want this and what my motivation is...

she understands this and supports me.

I'm finishing my walk-around.

But we're not going to fly for some time because of the lightning.

My name is Niki. I'm 47 and I fly a F-16.

In the 25 years I've flown the F-16, I've reached about 3700 flying hours.

There are a few other pilots in the Air Force with over 3000 hours.

I've been dispatched on numerous missions...

to former Yugoslavia in the 1990s and four times to Afghanistan.

Recently, I also took part in the fight against ISIS.

This is just standard Arizona weather.

See you later. -Have fun.

I'm going to start from scratch...

with a new team of F-16 pilots to be.

It's going to be fantastic. I'm really looking forward to it.

My new mission is training young F-16 pilots.

I'm moving to Tucson. I'm really looking forward to my new job.

It's great for me because it's where I started flying the F-16 myself.

I made a Picasso on the board.

I hope I can have a positive influence on my students.

You already did close and tactical in Texas.

The training given in Tucson is very extensive. It takes eight, nine months.

Then they're ready to be dispatched to a conflict zone...

when the Netherlands decides to send F-16s.

Guys who have just finished their training are going to fight ISIS over Iraq and Syria.

Good morning. This is Rhino, from the Apache.

I've finally arrived in Gao. 18 months ago, I was in Mali too.

This is my room. Sylvie and sweet cards from my girlfriend.

My role in Mali is Apache commander. I am in charge of an Apache helicopter.

Apart from flying, the coolest thing is getting into the helicopter...

and thinking: This is really awesome.

Looking back on another mission is still great.

It was sort of weird.

After take-off from the airstrip, we were supposed to explore the area.

After 10 minutes, we got a radio call saying we had to go to an area urgently...

because a Niger platoon had walked into an ambush.

There were multiple casualties. So we went there as fast as we could.

When we got there, we saw what had happened.

There were burned out vehicles.

We were told the men who had laid the ambush...

had fled on mopeds with the weapons.

We searched the area, but we couldn't find anything.

Later they returned with Chinooks with commandos on board...

to recover the bodies.

We don't exactly know the situation there.

The only information we have comes from Apaches. It may be total chaos.

We'll take the lead. We'll get things sorted.

From the air we use sensors to look at the ground.

This gives us quite a good view. And you can actually see bodies outside.

It turned out nine people had been killed.

We talked a lot about it with the men. We had many briefings about it.

So my first time was quite shocking.

in the next episode

My name is Paul.

I am 30 years old.

I've been a commando since 2007.

FR/EN : HOW TO WEAR ETHICAL FASHION ON A BUDGET ? - Duration: 4:12.

If you feel concerned about the disastrous effects of fast fashion

I talk about it here - if you just arrived -

Congratulations this video is for you!

Yet despite our desire to save the world

you still don't want to eat your crusts or return to the family home...

because you soon realized that consuming ethically is often expensive.

I went through that: I almost gave up after having a fantasy where

I held-up a fashion store with a banana

to acquire these superb vegan-leather ankle boots ...

Before falling back to Earth as I envisioned the state of the toilets

from the jail-cell that would be my new home.

So I tried to think about a few low-budget alternatives

and this is probably the reason why you are here now.

Unless you're lost in the dark web.

Basics and big statement pieces

If you should only put your fashion budget in two things

It is basics and big statement pieces

I never invested enough in the basics telling me that

it was not expensive

that if they were moderately well cut

or/and that they were made from poor quality products

that is was not serious

that I will buy, I will replace them.

The basic is the black or white tank top

the raw jeans

to acquire these superb vegan-leather ankle boots ...

that you will put in another 20 years

choose it in a noble, ethical, viable

and in a timeless cut

THAT SUITS YOU.

Are we doing the math?

1 good quality jeans worth 100 euros,

will only return to you 0.83eu per month over ten years.

1 Jeans worth 30 euros at H & M (for example)

that you have to replace every 6 months

will cost 6 times the price over the first decade

Do not do the crazy, Marcel!

If you find this video useful and would like me to make a video about the basics to have in a closet,

please do not hesitate to let me know

with a blue thumb!

Private Sales / Sales

I still have that nightmarish image of the annual Black Friday

when I think of sales.

Reviewing how to consume sales, private sales

and other bargains

is an important step in "consuming better".

So even if you don't play that Ninja Turtles fighting game

to get that super automatic toilet paper unroller

without which you can not imagine peace in The world

(it turns a lot around the pooh-pee this video, right?)

but that is your style to

wait until those new internet promotions are released:

Before even opening the links of your favorite online stores

make a list of what you really need

in order of importance.

and prioritise the ethical shops.

They will be more expensive than some competitors

January 2017 Wrap Up Part 2 - Duration: 7:41.

Hi everyone. I'm Rincey this is Rincey Reads.

Today I'm going to be doing part 2 of my

January wrap up. I will link to part one

up in the cards so you guys can check that

out if you haven't watched it already.

But basically this month I read a lot or

at least more than I usually do. So I

decided to break up my wrap up into

parts so that way it's not, you know,

30-plus minutes long. So today I have a

four different things I'm going to be

talking to you guys about. These are all

books that I've read either during 24

in 48 or during diverseathon.

So the first thing I have is Iron Cast by

Destiny Soria. I don't know why I always

trip over the last name but I always do.

This is a young adult like historical

fantasy book. It takes place in 1919 in

Boston and you are basically following

these two girls. One of them is named

Ada and the other one is named Corinne and

they both have the sort of like magical abilities.

Ada is able to use music to

sort of like entrance people and

Corinne can do the same thing but

with words specifically. So she'll recite

like poetry and it'll entrance people. And

so they work at this sort of like

speakeasy sort of place and they perform

for the patrons. But it's like illegal to

do that. But also to keep like the bar

open and to keep everything afloat,

they also do this is sort of like a con.

Like they'll target specific people and steal

money from them basically while they're

entranced. They get into quite a bit of

trouble in here and so it's about them

sort of looking after each other and

looking after the other people that are

part of this. Sort of like what they do

when everything starts to go wrong.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it

was a lot of fun. I did have some

quibbles with it. One of the biggest

ones is the fact that, like I said

earlier, it takes place in 1919 but

nothing about this book feels

historical at all other than the fact

that they keep talking about how

prohibitions going to come and when

prohibition comes then like the bars

gonna get shut down. But like they

don't talk like it's 1919, like nothing

about the style really feels like it's

in that era. So that was one of my quibbles.

I think the characters in here are

really interesting and I like the

magic system and how it's setup. But I do

think that some of the plot lines were a

little bit rushed but that just might be

because it's like a young adult story.

There were a lot of twists in here that

I didn't see coming which I really

appreciated. But overall I thought it

was just like a great fun story and kind

of like perfect for a readathon. So yeah, I

think this either three out of five

stars or three and a half out of five stars.

I don't remember completely.

The next thing I finished was Giant Days vol.2.

I don't have a lot to say about this

just because I feel like with Giant Days

there isn't a significant amount of plot.

Like these are all just slice of life

stories about these characters while

they're in college which personally I

really enjoy. There's nothing magical

happening here. There's nothing like

supernatural or sci-fi or anything like that.

So if that something you want in your

comics, then you're not going to enjoy

Giant Days. It's not like super dramatic

or anything like that. It's just fun.

These characters are funny and interesting.

I have the next volume

checked out from the library as well so

I'm hoping to get that this month.

I don't even think I rated this one on

Goodreads because I don't have like a

strong opinion about it. Like I enjoy it.

It's cute, it's fun, don't expect a

significant amount of depth. I just think

it's a fun series. The next book that I

finished was Someone to Watch Over Me.

And this is a mystery book translated

from Icelandic. Oh man, I gave this one a two

out of five stars. I was really

disappointed with this. I think because I

went into it with the wrong expectations.

I had heard this described as, in terms

of like the marketing, as being like a

thriller, like a Norwegian thriller like

Stieg Larsson or Jo Nesbo or whatever.

But it's not like that at all. It's more

like a straightforward mystery story.

It's very slow-moving. I didn't even find the

mystery that gripping. The part of it that

I liked is the fact that there's a

character here that has Down syndrome.

I should probably tell you the plot of this book.

Basically there is this character

named Jacob who has Down syndrome.

He is accused of burning down the

assisted-living facility where he was

and killing I think it's five people who

are inside the building. Someone in the

jail doesn't think that he actually did

it so they hire this investigator to

look into everything that has happened

and to see whether or Jacob

actuall committed the crime.

So what I like about this book is

there's a lot of discussion here about

people with various disabilities.

The main detective in here, Thora,

she thinks about a lot how those

perspectives and how her own biases are

coming into play with this case. And all

of that I really enjoyed. The actual

case itself, did not care about at all.

I feel like I had a really hard time, I

mean maybe it's just a me thing, but I had a really

hard time telling the characters apart.

I don't know if this is a translation, but this

book also wasn't like copy editors very

well which I can handle sometimes and

especially works in translation I can

handle a little bit. But I felt like there were

so many errors in this book. And yeah it's

just like the type of mystery book that

I personally don't really enjoy. I like

it when there's a lot more character development.

There's a lot of like side stuff

happening with Thora and her secretary that

I didn't find amusing even though I

think you're supposed to you. There's like

family stuff happening, which I feel like I

didn't really connect to and I don't know if that's just

because this isn't like obviously the

first in the series. So I don't know if I

needed that sort of background to be

able to care about those parts of the

story more. But yeah, it just didn't

really do much for me. So I gave it a 2

out of 5 stars unfortunately. And then

the final book that I finished in the

month of January was Among the Ruins by

Ausma Zehanat Khan. This is one of my most

anticipated books of this year and I loved it.

I think it's my favorite book in the series.

I've read the first two book in the

series, The Unquiet Dead and -- oh man I can't

even remember what the name of the second

book is. I will put the title on the

screen cause I can't think of it right now.

And I really enjoyed the first book

a lot, I didn't enjoy the second book

quite as much. But this one might be my

favorite so far in the series. In this

one we are following Detective Esa Khattak

as he goes to Iran for sort of like a sabbatical.

There are some things that

happen in the second book and he ends

up basically going on leave for a little

bit. And so he decides to go on a vacation

But while he's there, he ends up getting

recruited to sort of look into the

murder and disappearance of this really

famous filmmaker who made a documentary

about Iran's government and things like that.

And so he gets sort of wrapped up

in this mystery. I really enjoyed this

book a lot because you wanted a lot

about Iran and their history and their

government. I also really enjoyed this

book because I think the mystery was

really interesting and I think it

kept you on your toes. The quibble or

the one like complaint I have about

this book is the fact that his partner,

Rachel Getty, is in Canada and she's

basically investigating

as much as she can in Canada. Cause the

filmmaker I believe lived in Canada as well, or

was a Canadian citizen, I don't

remember exactly. So those two aren't

working together which I really kind of

missed and they do get reunited

eventually which made everything a lot

better in my opinion. I really like the

two of them working together a lot.

But yeah, I really, really enjoyed this one. I'm

actually going to be making a video I

think over on Book Riot about this

book specifically because I enjoyed it so much.

I highly recommend it. If you're

someone who likes mysteries and you

haven't check out these books yet,

please, please do because they're so fantastic

and they are totally underrated. So yeah

that's basically wraps up my January.

I was hoping to read more before the end

of the month but then you know like the

world or our country started falling

apart so I didn't have the time / energy

to read anymore. But yeah, you can always

follow me on Goodreads to see what I am

currently reading. I have links to like

all my social media down below. If you

have any questions about any of these

books definitely leave a comment down below

letting me know. Or if you've read them yourself

let me know what your thoughts are on

them as well.

So yeah, that's all I have for now and thanks for watching.

The Sequence Of The Swing Requires An Athletic Tension Free Stance - Duration: 4:40.

Welcome to Baseball Player University I'm Jeff Forney founder and host of Baseball Player

University.you know the importance of an athletic stance or a tension free stance? and the sequence

of the swing that's what I'm talking about today so let's go on out there and swing the

bat.

All right we're here in our element we're hitting talking about dropping the boom.

Let's get started with some basics and then we're just going to jump and dive right into

it.

First thing Austin the go ahead get here in a box.

We always hear things about hey what's the perfect stance where should I be and all this.

The key to a stance is to have a relax tension free stance.

Go ahead get and yourself into position.

So now it starts right here.

You can have your feet a little wider a little closer.

You know those are some details you know we don't want to get caught up in.

We want to make sure one that he has a tension free stance and what that means Austin is

going to be aware of every moment that he's doing and the box a lot of hitters get in

here and they're so tense and they have no awareness of the movement.

They're not tension free.

So their first movement is really really aggressive or is really taking them back or taking about

an athletic position.

We want to first make sure we have a tension free stance.

Go ahead and give me a little demonstration of that Austin.

He's nice and relaxed.

So now we can go ahead and load this stance up.

That's the first part.

Let me put a tee right here.

All right.

We're going to talk about loading up the swing.

Go ahead Sonny. you can sit there and feed him.

When we start getting loaded.

Basically what we're doing is taking our weight back.

We want to take it back against a firm back side here I always say early load is something

we're doing to get our body prepared to hit we want to stay athletic.

We have this thing called a center line or the axis that runs right down through the

middle of our body.

Here's where everything happens we want to hit here but now we need to take energy back

in order to go forward when I go back.

I don't want to overload and take myself out of an athletic position.

This weight right here is on the instep of my leg.

If my leg is split perfectly in half.

I'm pushing up against the middle of this so I'm ready to trigger and start the sequence

from the ground up when we start talking about a hitter it goes legs, core, shoulders, arms,

hands to the ball.

That's the sequence that we want to see happen.

Alright Austin won't you go right there and load up take couple of swings.

Nice now notice how everything is loading up on the backside.

He's tension free.

OK.

Now let's take it up a notch here.

Now what I want to do we want to create energy really drive us back there to the center line.

We want to try to create as much force coming from here back to center line to trigger this

swing.

It all starts with this heel.

This heel triggers that sequence when his heel comes down the first thing when we should

see moving are our legs.

So we will take this energy and we will do our crossover we'll cross over driving into

that heel to get the legs going.

We have to get the legs out front of the hands if the hands start going first we're not going

to create torque in the swing.

So we've got to get the legs out front go ahead do the step behind us.

I'll put this out here just a little bit nice.

And notice he's to the ball and through the ball.

One more and hold that finish for me right there.

Now you can really see him get his hips through here.

There his hips got out in front of his hands.

And we want that we want this to start leading We want to keep this connection of elbow to

hip right here and you're going to see as we start getting into more video analysis

breaking this down for you.

You're going hear me this year talking about my four p's a positive, powerful, posture,

position, powerful positive posture position.

Everything we're doing is trying to get ourselves in a positive powerful position.

Let's go back let's start that drill over cross over for me again.

Now here he's going to be in a very powerful position.

He's going to take himself to a positive action ready to hit boy we want this to be a really

explosive swing.

Put another one up there for him.

Sonny thanks man.

push.

Alright one more.

Good.

Now that gets us started.

That gets the back side loaded up powerful positive posture position.

We want to go negative in order to go positive.

Getting back in order to create energy going forward.

We'll see you on the next segment.

Is Music Not As Good As It Used To Be? - Duration: 4:28.

Man...

Music is just not as good as it used to be

Or is it?

I truly believe it is

and not only that, I think music nowadays might be even better than before

Now, I know music taste is as subjective as it can be

but for the sake of this video im going to focus on only one genre

Rock

since it's my favorite and it has evolved enough in the past couple of decades

that I find it to be a perfect example to prove my point

Rock music has been changing constantly

new bands take inspirations from the ones that came before and learning from them

so musicians of this day and age have access to so much information

that it's not surprising that they can develop talent and skills far beyond of what was considered possible decades ago.

and on top of that rock music has been mixing with so many different genres and styles that it has created a plethora of sub genres

It has so many subgenres that you can find your particular niche no matter what it is

Sentimental?

Violent?

Technical prowess?

Epic fantasy themed adventure music?

Yeah, there's a subgenre of rock for that.

Now

when you think of rock music of the past you think of classics like The Beatles, Pink Floyd or Queen.

And that's the thing, they are classics

and a classic by definition: is an outstanding example of a particular style; something with a timeless quality.

So they weren't just great bands, they were the greatest of their time and that's why you know about them.

That phenomenon is called Survivor Bias

Survivor bias is the logical error of concentrating on the people or things that "survived" some process

and inadvertently overlooking those that did not because of their lack of visibility.

In other words, the fact that they were so good was what made them stand out over all other examples of their time.

That's why when you think of rock from the nineties, you think of Nirvana

and not Moist

Now that we know we are taking the greatest bands from the past

we can't justly compare them with your everyday garage band

or the newest pop sensation that is going to fade away in just a couple of years.

No, we need to compare them with the greatest of our present time

but who are those?

Well… we can't exactly know at the moment for certain

we need time to judge if a band is just a one hit wonder, or if they can keep on putting great music for years to come

But what we should do is try to get out of our comfort zone in terms of music

don't just listen to the radio or that same old playlist you made 3 years ago

try listening to up and coming bands, or bands that you never heard of

or even music from countries you wouldn't expect

That way we have a better chance of identifying who will be the next legendary band

I know it's not that easy to find them

but services like Spotify and Pandora have great features for discovering new bands

But in my experience the best places to find new music are subreddits like:

/r/Music/, /r/WorldMusic/ and /r/listentothis/

Not only did I discover gems that I would never find otherwise like Manganas Garden

but there's also great discussions and recommendations about music in general

Now I would like you to give me a band or song recommendation

it doesn't have to be your favorite, just a song or a band you would want me to listen to, and tell me why

From my part, I would like to recommend you Protest The Hero

it's a really good band with extremely talented members

the vocals are top notch, the guitars are insane and the whole band is just amazing

Listen to "Blindfolds Aside", it might not be their best song, but its my favorite from them.

Remember to like and subscribe

And if you would like to know how I learned to enjoy other music genres apart from rock, watch this video
