hey folks this is rhykker with a diablo
3 necromancer beta video showcasing the
generator skills the primary skills
we're going to showcase the skills as
well as give our initial impressions and
we'll eventually showcase all the skills
but we want to keep these videos in
digestible chunks if there are more
things that you would like to see folks
do drop a comment letting us know what
that may be but first order of business
time to show off the / dance command for
the necro and as you can see it's just a
sarcastic slow clap better angle so
there you are it's either that there
won't be a dance animation or this is
just a temporary place to live because
if you do the the numpad commands I
believe that is one of the possible one
of the possible animations that we could
see I'm trying to go through them
quickly here I could have sworn I saw it
up here yeah there we go so I'm pressing
six and it makes the same clap but now
on to the skills now one thing you'll
note about the necromancer is that he
has fewer skills than other characters
and that's not really a bad thing
because for all other characters you
have like a wide assortment of primaries
and a whole lot of skills but a whole
lot of skills that don't even end up
getting used so the focus of the
necromancer was to make more useful
skills rather than just make a whole lot
of skills and amongst the primaries you
have three different primaries each of
which served a very different purpose
bone spikes is your ranged primary grim
site is your mail a primer your
generator i should say these are your
generators folks and siphoned blood is a
little different siphon blood is a range
generator that also heals you so right
off the bat all three are very different
now let's see them in action we'll start
by showing the unwound bone spikes right
there in two spikes pop out of the
ground now we're going to apply the
first rune sudden impact which stuns an
enemy this will kill this guy but we'll
do it on you see the corpses generator
it on this guy and he is stunned as you
can see so next room it will be boned
pillars this one's a little different
shoots up a spike and a special on that
strikes a target and up to two nearby
enemies so let's let's demonstrate that
over here we're going to try to kite one
of these guys over maybe alright so
we're going to talk to him and there you
can see the other additional spikes pops
up there you go so the nearby enemy
range is it seems to be roughly a little
bit less than the distance between these
two corpses as you can see we're going
to try to know come on tight back tight
back okay I think it's in range now to
hit both nope not even so it's a pretty
small range we'll try here there we go i
hit two targets that hit all three so it
seems will be about i would say 10 feet
radius within each other next to each
other then we've got frost spikes so
frost bikes just leave a patch of ice
behind a patch of ice behind that slows
movement speed 40 seconds I think that
means it just slows them while they're
actually in it so here well that wants
to kill them but there we go and it's
going to slowly walk over and as soon as
the egg swamp we still going slow that
seems to be a display error actually it
seems like it should be more than zero
seconds because they stay slowed once
the eggs of the patch now path of bones
this is what I feel the best one it does
less damage to begin with but it could
deal up to double damage for targets
that are further away so let's just show
how far it extends that's like a full
screen so I think we can insta-kill no
we didn't insta kill them but here from
up close we'll we'll try the sky from
right up close that was a mistake you'll
reading too much damage to these little
fellers but ok you saw it right there
the guy closer to us didn't die the guy
further away did die because I damage
ramped up who else can we line up ok so
we got these guys in a line beautiful
well that didn't quite display as it
should have but you get the idea you get
the idea
the best part in my opinion is that it
can strike more targets than any other
rune on this which is what I believe
makes it the most useful then you have
blood spikes and that's one that also
heals you a little bit it also applies a
bleed but that's going to be
insignificant you know generally your
generators aren't going to be dealing a
whole lot of damage in most boats there
are some builds you know and game bells
in the game that do rely on generator
damage but they are far and few between
few and far between yeah so the fact
that it only heals you four point five
percent of your total life over the
duration means you really got to be
hitting a lot of enemies to make this
worthwhile alright now we're going to
pop that and you see it barely does
anything it's barely even worthwhile as
a heel all right onto grim site so the
difference between grim sites and bone
spikes is that while it generates less
essence it generates / enemy hit so
against a single target it will generate
less but once you got a big group of
enemies you're really going to be
bringing in that essence so just by
itself on runes looks like that then we
apply the execution rune enemies below
twenty percent health have a five
percent chance to be decapitated and
instantly killed this is kind of a crazy
effect I could imagine on a rift
Guardian if you can be in a party and
you get a riff Guardian down to twenty
percent health and you got a necromancer
with super fast attack speed this seems
like it could possibly be crazy Opie I
mean five percent chance means that
roughly one out of every 20 hits will
land it but if you get your attack speed
high enough now attack speed in diablo 3
caps at five attacks per second i don't
know how reasonable it even is for a
necromancer to get 25 attacks per second
but let's say in a perfect scenario
where everything falls in place and and
you can somehow get 25 aps then we're
talking on average would take four
seconds to finish off a roof garden with
twenty percent hell even if we say just
two attacks per second that's going to
be on average ten seconds to kill a roof
garden at twenty percent health which
when we're dealing with
rift Guardians at greater if 90 plus you
know when it's taking you minutes to
kill a rip guardian that's huge now the
dual size power is going to push enemies
together this would be best showing off
around here as you can see it's moving
them a bit there so that was nice
roofing nice clumping right there so I
could already see application perhaps
for a group scenario where you want to
be grouping enemies you know I don't
know for sure it's going to it'll depend
on what kind of build could come
together but certainly interesting it
also helps coming just for yourself this
in general clumping density is always a
good idea then we have cursed sighs
that's interesting enemies hit have a
fifty percent chance to be inflicted
with a random curse so our curse is here
we have three different curses decrepit
I leech and frail speed leech gives you
life on hit decrepit I weakens an enemy
and frailty outright kills enemies with
less than fifteen percent health so
we'll go see what exactly we trigger so
we're going to fight Zoltan cool here so
that he lives long enough to actually
apply curses on it and there's minions
here so okay that guy's got a curse on
in you can see the little purple try to
get curses on all of them now
spawn ok so the purses do a timeout it's
basically the same as you would expect
and all right another curse on him now
it's a second traffickers you just died
I feel like we've seemed to prep a fly
and we've seen leech perhaps okay that
that is what it's like a CREP reply find
out here
I'm pretty sure if he already has like
okay there we go there's the other
person who's seen all three at this
point okay now he's got two on him as
you can see two are appearing on him if
you drop a little fifteen percent health
will be in fig I know so yeah that was
it that was it so we had to decrepit I
curse on sorry the frailty purse on it
we're just going to go quickly now cast
all three curses to show you what the
icons look like so all right that was
frail that was a frailty this is going
to be decrepit by now that's a little
blue one and lastly we have week and
that's that symbol they look at how they
did those symbols together you can have
all three all that is perfect they were
struggling to find a way to depict all
three at the same time and I think they
found the perfect solution for that
awesome we'll go over the curses in a
bit there but frailty I don't know about
that the overall i'm not sure that being
able to curse enemies 50 of us a chance
to curse with an unrehearsed is all that
great particularly because it's a random
curse that gets applied as well I mean
it's a nice bonus but it's generally not
something you're going to want to count
on given if you really want to curse
you're going to have it on your hotbar
then we got frost site each enemy hit
increases your attack speed by 1% 45
seconds max 15 stacks so I'm going to
check this out now let's see how fast
you start moving so I already at 15
stacks right there perfect and now it
drops and you could already feel us
going slower and lastly we have blood
sighs this just kills us as we take mom
once you take damage as we hit enemies
and all right so we're going down and
there we go instant heel all the way
back up there so this is really good if
you've got a lot of enemies to hit one
percent per enemy hit so against groups
of enemies this is fantastic again
single target it's basically useless but
against groups is really a great deal
actually now lastly we're going to look
at siphon blood so as you can see
between grim scythe and bone spikes grim
safe the disadvantages you got to be
melee if you want a call of disadvantage
you got to be in the danger zone danger
zone but you can generate more essence
bone spikes allows you to be safer while
still generating a good amount of
essence whereas siphon blood it
generates less essence than these other
two however you're also regaining life
so let's go test this one off as you can
see if you're just shooting in the air
it does nothing until a target appears
let's test the range it is quite long
range as you can see we're going to see
exactly i'll try to test exactly how far
away we can be there so it's like 50 50
yard radius it's perfect i'm thinking a
bunch of damage those channel on this
mallet lord and it's it's a it's a slow
channel but it could be expected it's a
pretty it's a pretty decent heal and
again this is on room so let's start
applying some rooms bloodsucker you pull
in health globes within 40 yards while
siphoning I mean it's gonna look the
same we don't really need to show off
the health clubs getting sucked in you
get the idea suppress enemies are also
slowed by seventy-five percent now we
need to note that there's a lot of
placeholder asset still in this so i
know some powers for instance might have
like the same visuals I'm not
specifically pointing out this one but
just be aware that there's soul up some
placeholder assets and stuff yeah that's
that's going to still advancing enemies
I don't see that being super super
useful I don't imagine that to be a
skill it's used a whole lot then we have
power shift damage is increased by ten
percent each time damage is dealt max 10
stacks so this makes it a more powerful
attack skill but I mean in general
you're not going to be using generators
tacticals philippi here and I'm a sacar
up to 10 now and it's feeling
considerable damage but not concerned
out and damaged relative to what our
spenders will be dealing then we have
purity of essence essence gain is
increased to 20 while you are at full
health so that's interesting that makes
it a somewhat better essence generator
it's kind of a nice blend I suppose
between regaining health and regaining
essence the thing is under real
circumstances are probably taking damage
so much or so quickly that you're
probably never really going to be
regaining essence so it seems overall
you're probably better just going off
with a proper generator and using
another power to regain health will go
over other powers that will enable you
to regain health but overall I'm not
finding siphoned blood as useful as a
bone spikes or grim site and then we
have drain life which is a pure a Pure
Life Drain power so this one no longer
generates any essence all right so it's
going to take quite a beating that we're
and start the regen process and now mid
combat it it's kind of keeping up with
the incoming damage we're slowly trying
to generate it's noteworthy but again
you're probably not going to be standing
there channeling help that's another
problem channeled skills I mean so the
issue of channeled skills is that you're
a sitting duck while you're channeling
it and I think firebats on the witch
doctor is basically the only channeled
feel that's really used for for mass
damage but I don't things are going to
see that on a generator so that's going
to be a wrap up of our three generators
folks again these are preliminary
thoughts I might still change my mind
under further testing but my my first
impression is that bone spikes and grim
size are going to be the the two
generators that people are most likely
to use and it seems grim size might be
used more for melee bills and bone
spikes more for range build so that's
pretty cool maybe siphon blood might
come into blood skills a blood builds
rather I guess it will depend if they're
most likely will be a necromancer set
that
buff's your blood skills so that might
fall into that category again we'll have
to see items and sets have not been
released yet so we'll have to wait to
test those when that happens but yeah I
mean just the fact that we have at least
two of the three seem to be pretty damn
good is a positive sign and in our next
video we're going to go over more skills
