If you thought you could get rid of me that easily, well, here I am.

Alive, but barely meme-ing

I'm here to let you know that I don't understand how friendship works.

I don't; it's too complicated.

It's not me, it's you. But it's also mostly me!

I can't tell if it's supposed to happen in stages

If I speak to or hang out with you outside of school or work,

You're important enough to cut into my nap time.

Believe me, I would choose a nap before a lot of things.

I'm not sure when milestones are supposed to happen between friends.

When do you start talking every day?

When do you ghost each other for no reason and act like it never happened?

When do you transition from texting to calling, or

just show up to their house like, "hey, asshole! I'm here!"

Most importantly, talking to them while peeing

and sharing with them your irrational fear of John Travolta.

Almost all of my friendships are long-term.

they've lasted at least five years or longer

My newer relationships are one to four years in age.

All of the aforementioned events are routine for all of these.

So, it drives my overthinking self insane.

I'm sitting here like, "what does it all mean?!"

One moment, you're at dinner with someone,

and the next, you're telling them that whenever you see a smart car,

you just wanna tip it over with your bare hands.

It's a thing. It happens.

It's so small!

Just shove it, and it'll fall!

I somehow can't grasp onto the idea that these things just happen.

But for the sake of anyone else who thinks I'm just about the most

#relatable #teen right now,

you can't plan these things out.

Aldrich Brothers-Race Against Time: Real Sports Trailer (HBO) - Duration: 1:57.

SOLEDAD O'BRIEN: It's race day,

which means it's time for 11-year-old Noah Aldrich

to ditch his glasses for his goggles.

While some kids his age might be splashing around

What is your strategy for the swim?

I try to start off slow so I can conserve my energy,

and not use it all at once.

He's saving his energy because after the swim,

he'll have to bike, then run.

This is Noah's 14th youth triathlon.

O'BRIEN: (CHEERS) Go, Noah! Woo!

O'BRIEN: Do you think you're a good athlete?

Yeah. I try to be.

Have you ever won a triathlon?

Mmm, not exactly.

What slows you down when you're doing a triathlon?

Definitely a lot of...

the stuff I'm pulling behind me.

O'BRIEN: That "stuff" is Lucas, his younger brother.

Noah competes in triathlons

with his nine-year-old disabled brother in tow.

ALL: Three! Two! One! Go!

(CHEERING)

O'BRIEN: Whether it's in a pool or pond,

Noah attaches himself to the raft,

and pulls Lucas for a 200-yard swim.

Then, Noah hits the road and peddles

with his brother for five miles,

and, on the final leg, he pushes Lucas for one mile

before he crosses the finish line.

-(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) -MAN: Yeah! Hoo-hoo!

It's quite a heavy load for a fifth grader.

NOAH ALDRICH: It can be hard,

but I just look back and see Lucas' smile and it just...

kind of fuels me up to keep going.

Peeps Do Not Fit In This Turned Easter Basket - Duration: 6:20.

Hi, Alan Stratton, from As Wood Turns (www.AsWoodTurns.com) When I contemplated a project to do for Easter,

I had a problem because Easter is really two almost opposites.

There is the spiritual side with the mission of Jesus Christ.

And then there is the new beginnings, the spring side.

And it is kind of hard to turn a project that represents the spiritual side.

So, I'll settle for the new beginnings side.

My wife insisted that I do a small Easter basket.

This is it.

It is turned as an Easter egg and then the sides are cut out to form a handle and eggs

put inside.

It is actually quite nice.

I congratulate my wife on her insight.

But for its size, maybe next time I'll have to make a bigger one because this one is too

small to put a peep in.

But, Let's go ahead and make this basket.

I've mounted a block of walnut harvested in Texas many years ago—definitely dry.

I'm using a steb center on the spindle and a standard live center.

Rough rounding is not my favorite activity but it does go quickly.

I need a dovetail tenon on both ends.

Then switch to shark jaws for my scroll chuck and part the block in two.

It is much safer to part from a chuck mount than if mounted between centers.

No chance to bind.

Now I've mounted the big end of the egg in my chuck.

I'll hollow it first.

I'll first remove a lot with a spindle gouge cutting outward thru the grain.

I need more practice at this technique so I stopped a bit short of a complete hollow

and switched to a round nose scraper.

I'm using a square carbide cutter to cut the straight sides of the mortise.

Then sand and finish the interior.

Now for the exterior with a spindle gouge.

I'll do some rough shaping at this point but stop short from finishing it.

I intend later to put a small concave hollow on the bottom so that it can sit straight

on a surface.

Next, I've swapped over to the egg top.

The first thing to do is to match the tenon to the mortise in the bottom part of the egg.

A typical fitting process.

Then mount the big end onto the tenon and do some turning between centers.

But not much at this point.

When I started to hollow, I had a bad catch that messed up the tenon.

I had to shorten it.

Then on to hollowing.

Nothing fancy here.

I did some with my carbide cutter, some with my spindle gouge and some with a round nose

scraper.

I will not sand the entire interior – just the portion near the joint.

I'll sand the rest after I carve the handle.

Now I can finish the big end of the egg.

This will be the bottom of my Easter Egg Basket.

A little tooling, then sand the big end.

Then, quickly sign the bottom before applying shellac friction polish to the base.

Now, I'll part off the top end.

Since the tenon is on this part, I can reverse it onto my chuck jaws to clean up the top

before sanding and finishing.

If this were a box egg, I'd be finished now – but it's not.

I'll glue the two pieces together now and let dry.

Now to carve the handle.

I've applied tape around the bottom and across the top.

I'll carve out the two sides of the top.

I've wrapped some old router pad around the egg and gently mounted it into my shark

jaws.

From here, I'll carve with a Proxxon with a coarse rasp cutter.

The tape marks my edges.

Then a lot of hand sanding to clean up the edges before applying finish.

Finally, I can buff my egg to a nice shine.

This is a cute little egg basket.

I'll fill it with jelly beans, malt balls, and peeps just in time for Easter.

I just wish my egg basket had something to do with Jesus Christ and the main reason to

celebrate Easter.

Arnstadt: It says in the police report that you ran back to the house.

Jackson: Yeah, and all those cars kept following me, just more and more.

I get to the driveway, there's like a ton of cars just in a pile.

Tried the front door, nothing, it wouldn't budge.

And then the back door…

Arnstadt: All right, that's fine, that's enough.

Jackson: Do you, do you think it's my fault?

Arnstadt: I don't, we're not sure why this is happening.

I doubt it's your fault, really.

After the nose is numbed and decongested with a nasal spray, a flexible endoscope can be

threaded through the nose and into the throat in order to visualize the voicebox.

both adults as well as kids can easily tolerate this procedure without sedation

Lets take a closer look on the inside.

Here the scope is being passed through the nose.

After reaching the very back of the nose, the scope is than bent down in order to visualize the throat.

With further advancement, one can see the back or base of the tongue as well as the epiglottis.

In this position, the vocal cords can be seen coming together to create sound.

When breathing, the vocal cords move apart in the shape of a V allowing air to pass between

the vocal cords into the windpipe and down into the lungs.

The pitch of a person's voice can be altered by reducing the throat diameter as well as

decreasing the height.

This alteration is analagous to an organ pipe where the smaller diameter and shorter pipes

create a higher pitched sound compared to an organ pipe that is large.

As you can see here, the vocal cords themselves can also adjust their thickness

and tension to adjust pitch.

Just like a violin string, the thinner and tighter the string, the higher the pitch.

The thicker and looser the string, the lower the pitch.

Build Mix Singing Voice - Raise the Key Pitch of the Song - Duration: 5:04.

One of the hardest things about learning a new singing technique is breaking old habits.

We make great progress in the voice lesson but when try and apply it to singing songs, we

quickly revert to old habits. We tighten up as if we've never had a voice lesson.

Inside this video, I'll show you how, by raising the key (pitch) of the song, you can

build mix singing voice faster.

Hi I'm Chuck Gilmore with Power To Sing.

It's very challenging to overcome our old habits of singing. We're learning new concepts

and feeling vocal sensations we've never experienced before. At first we may even be

skeptical of the new vocal coordination and subconsciously resist it.

Often you decide you don't like this mixed voice sound. It's not as powerful or strong

as you want it to be...so you sing harder and louder...like you used to, or like your

favorite singer.

You want to take a voice lesson, get your voice working like you want, and use that

great new voice tonight in your performance.

But when you sing your favorite song your old habits kick in. Your voice seizes up with

tension and it seems as if you've never had a voice lesson in your life.

If you were able to sing in a great mix voice in the lesson, it's impossible to do it

now...when you want it! The force of habit returns.

One way to disrupt our old habits is to raise the key (pitch) of the song. This helps you

build mix singing voice.

Raise the key enough so the highest notes are in or above the bridge of your voice.

For example, if the high notes for your song, men, are on Middle C, D and E, raise the key

so these notes are now E, F and G.

Women do the same. If your high notes are Ab4, B and C#5, raise the key so these notes

are now, C#5, D and E5.

The principle is, raise the key enough so your high notes are in and/or above your bridge

or break area of your voice.

Why does this work?

A new higher key changes the song and disrupts the old habits. You can't sing it like you've

always sung it. With notes in and above your first bridge,

your mix voice is easier to find and maintain. With the addition of head voice, chest voice

is not being pulled up. So there's no tension or reach in the voice.

By eliminating tension from the external neck muscles, the internal muscles of the vocal

cords will build their own strength and coordination. This is what develops real power in your voice.

Practicing and singing this way will significantly build chest, mix and head voice.

Here's an example of raising the key. Since the making of this video falls on Friday before

Easter, I'll use the song, "I Need Thee Every Hour", from the Hymnal of the Church

of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, of which I am a member.

The men's choir arrangement puts the melody high note on D above Middle C. I'll sing

it without a mix voice and then with a mix. [DEMO] When just learning, singing

the D in mix is very hard.

Now I'll raise the key a major third so that D4 is now a F#4. Now, instead of singing

a note at the top of my chest voice, it's on the last note of my bridge. It's very

hard to sing this using old habits and doing it in chest. [Demo] Now mix. [Demo]

If I raise the key one more ½ step, it's on the G4, which is through my bridge and

into my head voice. [DEMO]

This is counterintuitive. You think it's going to be harder. Yes it is harder to pull

chest that high, but it's easier to sing mix and head voice.

Raising the key disrupts your old habits and causes you to experience new sensations without

tension or reach. This builds mix singing voice.

Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) Review: Meet Jack - Duration: 6:31.

Hey there, Alex here.

The Samsung Galaxy A series is like a much neglected middle child in the Galaxy family.

It's not as powerful or flashy as the S Series, and it's not as accessible as the

J Series.

It just sits quietly in the middle.

In its third generation, it seems like the A Series is all grown up.

It can now do even more of the things that the S series can do.

So let's take a closer look at the Galaxy A7, and see if it's any good.

As part of the Galaxy family, the A7 looks exactly like how much it costs.

Which is basically a slightly cheaper version of the Galaxy S7. Glass front and back, and

metal sides.

It still looks and feels great, but it just lacks that polish and shine that the Galaxy

S7 has.

Like it's literally less shiny.

An interesting design choice is that the speaker is actually at the side of the phone instead

of the bottom.

So instead of covering the speaker with my right hand, I'm now covering the speaker with

my left hand instead.

Anyway, the speaker itself is pretty average sounding.

The A7 is now water resistant, with an IP68 rating, which is definitely a very nice feature

to have.

Considering there are way more expensive phones still without that feature.

There is a 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED screen at the front, and like all modern Samsung displays,

it looks pretty wonderful in most lighting conditions.

It has great contrast and nice colours.

It may not be as amazing as the display on the S7,

but it's definitely better than most phones in this price range.

I am in the camp that thinks that Full HD is still plenty enough for everyday use.

Furthermore, with lesser pixels to push around, the battery life and performance will likely

be better as well.

For those who find A7 a bit too big, there is the slightly smaller A5 with a smaller

screen and battery.

Performance wise, it's packing a mid-range Exynos 7880 chipset, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB

of internal memory.

This is a very similar chipset to the Snapdragon 625, also with Cortex A53 cores, and built

using the 14nm process.

The phone handles most everyday tasks with ease, even with a bit of gaming thrown in.

The user interface is generally pretty responsive despite TouchWiz.

It take a tiny bit more time to open apps, or load a game, but nothing that I would consider

a deal breaker.

On the bright side, the processor seems to be pretty power efficient.

With a 3,600mAh battery, I'm getting really great battery life with more than a day of

use, and great screen on time.

It supports fast charging as well, but since the battery life is so good, I rarely found

myself needing it.

Software wise, it's running a version of TouchWiz that looks similar to the Note7.

It's still running on Android 6.0, but it already comes with some Android 7.0 features

like split screen multitasking and blue light filter.

It's a bit of a bummer it's not on Android 7.0, but at least the security patch level

is still relatively recent for now.

It supports Samsung Pay, which means I can use it for mobile payments at more locations

with Samsung's MST technology.

Always-on-display is here too, which is a feature I have grown to love on the S7.

Another nice touch is that the fingerprint sensor is now always on, so no need for a

button press to wake the phone first.

Then you get a bunch of other TouchWiz features too like the ability to hide important data

in secure folder,

run apps in a floating window, game tools for enhanced gaming experience,

picture in picture mode in the Samsung browser, take a long screenshot,

clean the device up, and a bunch of other stuff.

So software experience wise, it's going to be a pretty familiar one if you've used a

Samsung phone before.

Which is to say it's decent, but not fantastic.

The A7 has a 16MP rear camera with f/1.9 aperture which actually performs really well in most

lighting conditions.

You're not going to get S7-like quality from this camera, but it's still pretty good.

It does struggle a little bit in low light especially with no optical image stabilisation,

but then again most mid range devices do.

That said, it is still slightly better than I expected it to be.

My main complaint with this camera is the app itself.

Not with the lack of modes compared to the S7, but with the Auto mode.

The Auto mode isn't really that great, because I still have to manually switch between HDR

and Night mode to get the most out of the camera.

It's 2017 for crying out loud, and even mid-range devices deserves a full auto mode

with auto HDR and scene detection.

The front camera fares a lot better with its 16MP camera and f/1.9 aperture.

I don't take much selfies,

but I am pretty impressed with images that it's able to produce, even in dimmer lighting conditions.

So while the camera experience isn't perfect, and the focusing speeds isn't the fastest around,

I think it's still a decent camera for a mid range device, especially if you use the front

camera more than the back.

So is the Galaxy A7 worth buying?

Well, it depends.

On its own, it is really good at almost everything, but it's not great at anything in particular.

If I wanted to name it, I'll probably just call it Jack.

Because basically, the A7 is a Jack of all trades.

Except for the fact that it's able to support 2 SIM cards with a microSD card, and it has

great battery life,

it's basically a step down from the S7 in almost every single way.

And that's a good thing.

Because for a mid-range phone, it's hard to find a package as complete as this.

However I do think that the A7 is a little bit pricey for what it is.

For around the same price, there is the OnePlus 3T which has better specs, camera, and software

experience.

Even though it doesn't have water resistance, and the display isn't as good.

Or maybe even a used Note5 or S7 Edge could be a decent option too.

But if you want to stick with a brand you know, want a brand new phone, and don't want

to spend too much money, the Galaxy A7 will most likely satisfy your needs.
