A Few Things to Know About American Sign Language | NPR - Duration: 4:20.

Yeah. I do have a few things I want people to know.

"Please"

"Thank you"

"I'm sorry"

For my family and other people, I'd love them to learn basic signs.

Questions: "How are you?"

"How was your day?"

And then the responses for those types of questions.

They already know "I love you."

Yeah so my background is coming from a family with parents who are Deaf,

my siblings are Deaf, and so my first language was ZEI.

Which is Iranian Sign Language.

I did learn some British Sign Language,

but I haven't remembered it.

I guess it's just like any other foreign language people learn

if you hear it one or two times it's cool, but you forget it quickly.

Ok, it's like the English language has different accents.

In the South there's an accent, in the West, you know in different parts of the country

people have different accents.

It's the same thing with sign language.

The different styles of signing are the same as accents in English

I also think that some people say that I sign something a little bit different.

It's probably the influence from another country.

People come from other countries and they don't maybe develop the fluency in the way Americans sign it.

So they do develop an accent in sign language.

So I'm a black person and I use Black ASL.

There's an influence with black hearing community members—

They have an influence on how black deaf people sign.

So there is African American Vernacular English.

So there are some things to say like "girl please" or "you're trippin'."

There are certain phrases in the black community that have been influenced,

and now black deaf people use them, like the ones that i just mentioned.

I use Black ASL, but not in the classroom.

I use Black ASL with a specific community.

I don't always think in ASL.

I typically think in English, English word order.

Remember ASL is very different from English.

ASL is it's own bonafide language with grammatical rules.

In English it's typically subject-verb-object.

That's typically the word order.

It's linear, it has a very linear structure.

While as in ASL, the structure is less.

It could have the object-subject-verb.

And the way we know what is a subject or object, for example, is through facial expressions.

I acquired language,

so just like any other infant acquires language,

I acquired my language at a few months of age.

One time my kids were sleeping,

and my daughter was actually sleep signing.

You know that?

My daughter, what she did, she was like, [signing while asleep],

and I'm in shock.

My daughter is signing in her sleep.

I was born with a hearing loss, but it got worse when I was 18 years old.

And when I was 18, I had a decision to make.

I could either get surgery—I could get a cochlear implant

or I could learn sign language.

I didn't want to have the cochlear implant surgery,

and I decided to learn sign language.

Doors began to open to a whole new world.

People call me hearing impaired, and I have to tell them, for example, that's not a term that I accept.

I'm Deaf.

They don't understand that Deaf people have a culture.

They think that hearing impaired is more politically correct, but actually it's more offensive.

Because what you do, is you don't recognize the fact that I come from a linguistic minority

where we have our own culture—Not only here but around the world.

I also want people to know that just because I can speak, doesn't mean I'm not Deaf.

I run into hearing people who often say, "Well you can hear a little bit,

and you can speak well. That means you're not Deaf."

I would say "Excuse me. You can't tell me what I am or am not."

Transformers: Dark Of The Moon ''Opening Scene''- (2011) Movie Clip 4K ULTRA HD - Duration: 5:34.

My hero needs to wake up.

What is that?

This is your new lucky bunny.

It's a beautiful thought, Carly,

but I don't think it's the whole bunny that's lucky.

You see, it's just this section here.

You see, it's just the rabbit foot that's lucky.

Well, it's just a good luck charm. To help you think positive?

Today's important.

Come on, get up.

- Hey, wear that nice tie. - Yeah.

You need any money for lunch?

No, I don't need any money for lunch. I have money from yesterday's lunch.

You love it, don't you? I'm just your American boy toy.

A lover boy toy.

You know how demoralizing it is to have saved the world twice

and still be groveling for a job?

People don't know you saved the world, Sam.

I mean, I do. I believe you.

The government knows. I mean, they could hook me up with a job

right here in D.C.

I mean, I should be working with the Autobots, otherwise it's not fair.

Come on, they paid for your college. The President gave you a hero medal.

Thank you, man. Great job.

That's the coolest thing that ever happened to me.

All right, guys.

- What the fuck! - Wow.

And, as I recall, that wasn't even the highlight of your day.

Mr. Ambassador, here.

British Embassy, you're up next.

No, you don't wear it. See, you've gotta... The box.

I couldn't, even if I wanted to.

You're supposed to leave it in the box, right?

You keep it in this. What a gorgeous box.

Oh, yeah. My medal. You know who gave that to me?

- Who? - POTUS.

President of the United States.

Babe, it's hard for everybody to get a job.

I don't have time. You see, my parents are gonna be here in a week

on their road trip Partybus World Tour.

If my dad gets here and I don't have a job,

he's gonna spank me. You know, it's go time for me.

All right, tonight, I'll give you a job.

Romance me with a nice dinner and maybe you can get that bonus.

- Get lucky. - Get him out of here.

Wait. No, no, no, no.

- Oh, he's gross! - She's good.

They're stranded here. Somebody's got to watch out for them.

Yesterday, that one was in my underwear drawer.

Did research. Looking real good, too.

No need to hit me.

- You are not a normal boyfriend. - That's what you love about me.

- Crybaby. - We're not at the love word yet.

Maybe a little bit closer when you're covering your half of the rent.

Good-bye.

Frickin' shorting my circuits out here!

It's inhumane, what it is! Make us live in a box

on a balcony, right next to a beast! Like a common animal!

Stop, okay?

You and your creepy sidekick can't be in here without permission.

According to who? Miss Blondie Blonde?

Giddyup, little doggie!

- Yo, Brains, wassup? - Doing good.

Shit, I seen this one. It's the one where Spock goes nuts.

You know, Sam, I don't know about moving in with this chick.

What if she dumps us like the last girl?

She was mean. Didn't like her.

Us guys got to stick together.

We are family.

No, we are not family. You're a political refugee,

and I have finally found someone who appreciates me for me.

Well, you tell her that we're not your pets,

and we're not your toys!

All right? We're an advanced, genius alien race just looking for a home.

- Maybe it wasn't such a good idea. - Didn't have to stop.

Come on. What're they going to do, tow it?

Where is he?

Sammy!

- Come on, that's funny! - Sam.

I missed you guys so much.

Sure, you did. What do you think?

- Look at that. - Cute.

- You look old. - Stop it.

Feel like I can see the end.

I love your little tie. Hey, where's my girl?

- Where's my beautiful Carly? - She's at work, Ma.

She's got a new job. You guys said you were gonna be here in a week.

The 21st, not the 11th, Dad, remember?

We just hauled ass in this thing.

- We stopped for gas. - This thing. The love tub, it flies.

Are we keeping you from something? Like, say, your job?

Well, it's about time. You had us worried.

I have job interviews.

That's good.

- That sucks. - Stop it.

You don't have to be so negative, Dad. You know, you're in D.C.

You're here with your son and your family.

- I mean, it's a good time. - It sucks that you don't have a job.

Yeah, but there's good things to do here, too, right?

Right? Museums and monuments, okay?

- I'll see you tonight. - I'm bagging the gift.

Sam, I think for an interview you should wear real pants.

I think for life, you should wear real pants.

What happened to Bumblebee?

He's off on his missions. I had to get this for backup.

- Your car has a job, huh? - Stop.

What does it change into?

It doesn't change into anything. It's a collector's item, Ma.

I got it for a steal. It just needs some work. Trust me.

No, I think it's darling. It reminds me a lot of Bumblebee,

if Bumblebee were a sad piece of shit.

Come on, we'll give you a ride!

DRUGSTORE MAKEUP HAUL 2017⎢Jolien Nathalie - Duration: 12:41.

this sunshine is the way to bright you

guys it's way too bright this is like no

no no new new new new new please leave please

hi everyone thank you so much for

coming welcome back to my channel I'm so

happy that you're here today I am back

with another haul I hope you're excited

because I haven't done a haul in ages

in fact my last haul was seven videos

ago and that was an essence haul and

review I will link it down below whoa if

you haven't seen it do you see that ehm

I think I was about to loose something my

breath, my voice, everything that would

not be ideal for this video anyway if

you enjoy my haul videos don't forget to

give it a thumbs up don't forget to hit

that notification bell to get a

notification every single time I upload

a video because you don't wanna miss

out on all of my awesome content and if

you like me follow me on my social media

which is joliennathalie on twitter facebook

instagram and snapchat and let's get on

to all of the makeup okay so I want to

start of with the Maybelline Dream

cushions liquid foundation on the go I

have two because the first one that I

bought was actually the wrong skin color

the wrong shade and then I went back to

get the lightest one which in Belgium which is

10 ivory and even this one is too .. too

dark for me so I feel like compared to

the L'Oreal Cushion Foundation which I

rave about all the time it's an amazing

foundation I'm talking about the Nude

Magique Cushion Foundation .. I like that

one more and the shade selection is much

larger and better but it's not that this

is bad I have an entire review about

this on my blog and I like it in fact

I'm wearing it today it's just that I'm

waiting for a little bit of a tan so I

can actually match this to my face right

now I just do it with bronzer and

concealer and everything looks fine and

blends in beautifully but this chase

women is very dark so if you have a

darker skin tone definitely look into

this, it is much cheaper than the l'oreal

Cushion Foundation and it's a little

bit drier and formula but that might not

be an issue because if I mean Summer is

coming up people are going to be sweaty

your face is going to be sweaty so why

not I like this it retails for €12.99

which is much more affordable, the one

from l'oreal is like almost €20 euros

so this is great I will leave you the

link down below so you can go ahead and

check out all the close ups and

swatches I know some of you have asked

me how I use this in another video

because I mentioned it and I will

definitely keep that in mind and then

include it in a tutorial somewhere and

then I'll let me know on my social media

so yeah this was the first product

that I got then I have another product

from Maybelline which I'm not very happy

about it is Terre Indienne Bricks

bronzer and I got the one for Blondes so this

this one is called 01 blonde I had been eyeing this

for ages before I purchased it I believe

I spent €13 and I bought it and

when I got home I realized that the

pan was broken so it's not the actual

pan it's the makeup in the pan that

came out and I just pushed it back in

and this is what I was left with and I

tried it I used it a couple times and I

find it way to dusty like when you

swatch this it's absolutely gorgeous and

it looks like really smooth but then it

does not translate on the face I'm

wearing on this brick thing, brick

highlighter thing on my cheeks today but

it doesn't impress me very much it's

very dusty has a lot of powder kick off

doesn't look chalky but it doesn't look

pretty either so I would not recommend

this, not because I bought it and

it was broken but just because I don't

think the quality is there I was excited

about trying as it turns out ehm it

didn't get into my favorites basket next

I wanna talk about my favorite setting

powder I've been using one setting powder

for like I think the past year or so I

don't remember the last time I used

another powder this is the Immaculate

compact foundation from H&M

and it is not really a foundation

because it doesn't have that much

coverage but it's a nice setting powder

so this is what the foundation looks

like it is in the shade alabaster and you

get a mirror and then you also get a

little sponge underneath I never use a

sponge I just use a setting brush by Real

Techniques it's like a pink one and it

has very nice and soft fluffy bristles

and I just used this to set my

foundation in my t-zone and underneath

my eyes and then on top of my eyes if I

want to do eyeshadow, now I also set my

forehead actually cause I noticed it

reduces the wrinkles on my forehead

which is great but I highly recommend

this powder it's very finely milled it's

very very smooth and it's also very

white so if you're pale or if you need a

little bit of ehm enlightened

underneath your eyes, you need a little

bit of highlight let's say I think

you're going to like this a lot if you

have any recommendations for me when it

comes to powder I'm definitely open to

trying other setting powders but for now I'm

really hooked on this I think it's

amazing and I recommend it, it's €9.99

which is not the cheapest but my last

compact lasted me for ages and it's not

even completely finished now I'm just

using the new one because my last one

has discolored a little bit which is

because I don't always clean my brushes

on time so yeah I got a new powder and I

could not be happier! Moving on I have a lot

of face products in this haul you guys I

got the Tea Tree water from Lush I never go

shopping at Lush now last Friday I

happened to meet up with a girlfriend

and I went to Antwerp, wait no no

rewind: I went to Antwerp and I met up with a

girlfriend and she wanted to get in to

Lush to get some bath bombs and then I

saw this and I had no clue that they had

sample sizes so this .. is it says it's

100 grams but I assume it's 100 ml

which is amazing which means you can

take this on the plane with you and

I've been using this for past couple days

and I really like it so I've heard a lot

of good things about this Tea Tree Water

from Lush for a very long time already

so it's definitely some kind of like a

cult beauty product, I did a blog post on

that as well on my blog so if you're

interested again that will be in the

description bar down below but this is

basically a toner water and tea tree

is effective against bacteria that causes

breakouts and this is great for people

that have clogged pores now this is

definitely something that I struggle

with I don't have nasty acne but I do

get like tiny little break outs like all

over my face which is just not that

great so I got this now I'm not really

sure if it works for breakouts because as

I was using this I was still getting

breakouts but I feel like it makes my

makeup look so good so the other day

when I was in Antwerp that friday I

thought I would go look completely

busted when I got home so I sprayed

this on my face and then I checked out

my makeup in the mirror once I got back

to Brussels and my makeup looked

so good and then I continued to spray this

on my brother and my boyfriend

and their face looked just so fresh and

matt, but healthy at the same time I just

really like it, I think I paid €6 and

something for it and I'm going to keep

on using it and then see what I think

about it, do I think it's an absolute

must have until now? Not really but I do

enjoy it especially because the weather

like it's much warmer now and it's nice

and refreshing and I can see what people

are talking about but I'm on the fence

as to if it's worth the hype or not

the last face product that I have of this

haul is this Olaz/Olay double-action

normal to dry day cream and primer so if

you follow me on snapchat you know that

I went to action and action is basically

a place where you can buy everything you

want but for really really cheap also

from brands and I like to go there to

buy my Olaz skincare or Olay

because it's like half the price of what

you can find it for in drugstores and I

was really interested in the

primer aspect of this because Olaz day

creams are usually really great primers

but I was like okay with this one they

actually claim it to be a primer which I

had never seen before and I tried it the

other day and I'm not convinced also I'm

not sure if a lot of you would enjoy the

smell, it legit smells like baby

diaper and then that cream you put on a

baby's bum it actually smells like that

it smells like a baby's bum with cream

on it and a diaper, that's what it smells

like so I'm not convinced I think I'm

going to start using this as an night

cream and not as a day cream because

also this does not contain any SPF and

I'm definitely into all of that anti

aging stuff so this is a no go for me

because my makeup did not look great on

top of this, I mean it looked okay but

I know that it can look better with

other Olaz moisturizers so this is a no

no no no ok so now I have another

repurchase and this is for my eyebrows

I got the Catrice Slim'Matic Ultra

Precise waterproof brow pencil in the

shade light ..? Yeah 010 light, this is

what it looks like so we have the brow

pencil here and it is basically inspired

from the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow wiz

some of you have told me that the

brow wiz is completely different formula

wise which I can definitely imagine

because I mean Anastasia Beverly

Hills is like high-end and top-notch for

eyebrow products and I've never tried

anything from her brand but I would

definitely love to I know they have Anastasia

Beverly Hills here at Planet Parfum

I'm not really sure thought but I think

I've seen in there, I think I've seen it

I just don't really like shopping there

I don't know why it's not my jam and

then we have a little spooly at the end

I'm mainly use this now to basically

outline the bottom of my eyebrows to

really have a nice tail and then fill in

the little sparse areas because I really

really enjoy my Wonderbrow and then my

Essence Make Me Brow but this really

like finishes off my blonde eyebrows and

I like it a lot and I have no problem

with smudging or anything I'm wearing it

now right here and I think it is a great

product it's only retails for €2.99 so if

you're looking for the hit when it

comes to budget brows you can try this

okay now for the last product of my haul

I thought I should mention that last

week I tried PS Get Lippy Lip Kits

from Primark these are new and they are

basically a lip kit with a metallic

liquid lipstick and a lip liner or a

matte liquid lipstick and a lip liner I

did a try on and review I guess, try on

haul .. yeah a try on haul

I tried four of them: this one

is called cookie dough and this one is

called molten lava so if you're

interested in Primark makeup and whether

these lip kits are worth it I

definitely suggest you go and check out

that video because I really enjoyed

doing that video and it was my first

time trying out my new camera which I'm

filming with now I'm filming with the

canon eos 700d and as I said in my

previous video you girls were very happy

about the quality and you didn't say

anything about the focus so I assume

that's fine but if you want to leave me

more feedback about the focus or the

lighting of this camera definitely let

me know in the comments down below and

that's it, this is my entire makeup haul, I

really hope you girls enjoyed thank you so

much for leaving me your makeup

recommendations of the moment in the

comments down below because I'm always in

for something new I always like trying new

makeup, I know you leave me a lot of

recommendations but I actually write them

all down and then when I get them I'm

like okay! I got it! So thank you so much

for being here, thank you so much for

spending time with me, I really

appreciate it, don't forget to follow me

on social media which is joliennathalie

on twitter facebook instagram and

snapchat have an amazing day I'll see

you later bye

2017 | "TRASH MY TBR"?! [CC] - Duration: 6:00.

Hey, BookTube! It's Sylwia! So today I'm stealing another BookTuber's idea. I'm gonna

link you to her channel down below and all over the place. It's Drinking By My Shelf.

She came up with this awesome idea and actually she has a lot of really unique BookTubing

video ideas, so I strongly recommend her channel. Today, what we're gonna be doing is: you guys

are gonna help me cut books off of my GoodReads TBR. So, the entire point of this is to convince

me NOT to read these books. I'm going to share 100 books with you that I don't own and that

are sitting on GoodReads TBR and I want you to let me know if: 1) The book perpetuates

unhealthy ideals or has problematic representation, 2) If the author is ignorant in any way and

doesn't deserve my time or money, 3) If the book depicts rape graphically. I'm very against

that, so please let me know. 4) If you thought the writing style of the book was horrendous

(so cliché, grammatically offensive, or dense in a negative way), 5) and lastly I wanna

know if you rated the book 1 star, 2 stars, OR 3 STARS. And I wanna emphasize that you

Corporations Cash In On Illegal Immigration - Duration: 7:32.

GEO GROUP, WHICH IS ONE OF THE LARGEST FOR-PROFIT PRISON

CORPORATIONS, HAS TO SECURED A FEDERAL CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT

OF $110 MILLION TO BUILD A NEW FACILITY SPECIFICALLY MEANT

TO DETAIN UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS.

ACCORDING TO THE TALKING POINTS MEMO, THE GEO GROUP SAID IT IS

1000 BED DETENTION FACILITY WILL BE IN CONROE, HOUSTON, AND

WILL OPEN BY THE END OF NEXT YEAR.

GEO ALREADY OPERATES THE 1500 BED JOE CORLEY IMMIGRANT

DETENTION CENTER IN THE SAME SMALL TOWN, SO IT'S A LITTLE

STRANGE THAT THEY NEED ANOTHER FOR-PROFIT PRISON TO DETAIN

FOR-PROFIT PRISONERS IN THE AREA.

BUT YOU KNOW THAT WE HAVE BEEN COVERING FOR-PROFIT PRISONS, AND

HOW DISASTROUS THEY HAVE BEEN, HOW THEY DO NOT CUT COSTS, HOW

THEY ARE NOT REALLY PRIVATE PRISONS ñ THEY ARE PRIVATELY

RUN, BUT THEY HAVE INVESTORS, AND THEY WANT TO MAKE A PROFIT.

THE WHOLE POINT IS TO DETAIN ñ TO DETAIN AS MANY PEOPLE AS

POSSIBLE SO THAT THEY CAN MAKE AS MUCH MONEY AS POSSIBLE.

SO, IF YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS USING UP

OUR RESOURCES, WELL, THIS IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF HOW DETAINING

UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS ACTUALLY MAKES YOU, THE TAXPAYER,

SPEND YOUR MONEY ON SOMETHING WE SHOULDN'T BE SPENDING MONEY

SOUND ñ BE SPENDING MONEY ON.

WELL, IT'S NOT JUST TEXAS, THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON IN ARIZONA.

I HAVE FAMILY THAT ACTUALLY WORKED IN A MEDICAL FACILITY

THAT IS PRIVATELY RUN AND OPERATED, AND ICE KIND OF

OVERSEAS IT, SO WE HAVE ALL THESE CONTRACTS WITH ICE, THAT

SORT OF FACILITATE THE HOUSING AND WAREHOUSING OF DILIGENCE, SO

IF YOU INSIST: CLOSE CATCH AND RELEASE PROGRAM, IF WE ARE

BASICALLY FOR THE WAREHOUSE PEOPLE TO GET THEIR PAPERWORK IN

ORDER, UNTIL WE SHIP THEM OUT, WE ARE ESSENTIALLY STARTING

ANOTHER INDUSTRY OF, ESSENTIALLY WAREHOUSING PEOPLE WHO ARE

IN VIOLATION OF THE ROCK ñ OF THE LAW.

IT'S VERY COSTLY.

IT LEADS TO A GIGANTIC PROFIT MOTIVE IN CRIMINALIZING

PEOPLE WHO ARE SUDDENLY COMING HERE LOOKING FOR A BETTER LIFE.

AND LOOK, I UNDERSTAND, WE SHOULDN'T HAVE A SYSTEM

WHERE WE JUST LET ANYONE IN AN OPEN OUR BORDERS, NO ONE IS

ASKING FOR THAT, BUT YOU WANT COMMONSENSE LEGISLATION,

AND COMMONSENSE REGULATIONS TO DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE, AND

WE ARE DOING THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF THAT RIGHT NOW.

IT IS THE WAY THAT THESE DETENTION CENTERS ARE

MODELED AFTER OUR CURRENT JUSTICE SYSTEM MODELS.

OUTSIDE OF THE DETENTION CENTERS THERE ARE BOND PROGRAMS, OR

OTHER FORMS OF SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS THAT LOOK A LOT LIKE HOW

WE DEAL WITH CRIMINAL JUSTICE, WHICH IS ALSO PRIVATIZED.

SO I THINK WHEN WE EXAMINE THIS, WE'VE GOT TO LOOK AT SOME

OF THE RACIAL STRUCTURES, THE ECONOMIC IMPERATIVES AND ASK,

WHY ARE THESE POLICIES FORMING IN THE WAY THAT THEY ARE?

EXACTLY, AND SO, YOU KNOW, AT THE END OF THE ñ AT THE TAIL END

OF THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION, OBAMA HAD MADE THE DECISION

TO STOP USING FOR-PROFIT PRISONS AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL.

OF COURSE TRUMP CAME IN AND COMPLETELY DID AWAY WITH THAT,

AND THE STOCK PRICES FOR THESE FEDERAL PORK ñ FEDERAL

FOR-PROFIT PRISONS SHOT UP, AND I'M SURE THAT THE STOCK

PRICE FOR THE GEO GROUP IS WHAT SHOWED UP AGAIN.

YOU DON'T WANT TO HAVE THIS SORT OF PROFIT MOTIVE STRUCTURED INTO

OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM, BUT WE DO, AND I WAS HOPING THAT THIS

SYSTEM WILL GET BETTER AFTER THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION, BUT

OF COURSE IT'S NOT.

YOU HAVE DONALD TRUMP, WHO IS A PRODUCT OF A CORRUPT

POLITICAL SYSTEM, HE'S EXPLOITED THAT POLITICAL SYSTEM, WHAT

MAKES ANYONE THINK THAT HE WOULDN'T DO ANY ñ

THAT HE WOULD NOT DO FAVORS FOR GROUPS LIKE GEO GROUP?

US IMMIGRATION AND CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT ALREADY HAS A RECORD

OF MORE THAN 41,000 DETAINEES, THAT NUMBER IS EXPECTED TO

INCREASE, AND ALSO THE AGENCY HAS IDENTIFIED AN ADDITIONAL

21,000 UNUSED BEDS THAT IT PLANS TO USE FOR DETENTION.

UNDERSTAND THAT.

THESE FOR-PROFIT PRISONS USUALLY HAVE CONTRACTS THAT

INDICATE THAT THE GOVERNMENT, WHETHER IT'S ON A STATE OR

FEDERAL LEVEL, NEEDS TO PROVIDE A MINIMUM OCCUPANCY RATE.

SO, LET'S SAY THAT THESE BEDS ARE NOT BEING USED, OUR TAXPAYER

MONEY STILL HAS TO PAY FOR THE BEDS AS IF THERE ARE INMATES

THERE, AND IT CREATES AN INCENTIVE WHERE IF THERE

ARE UNUSED BEDS, WELL WE JUST NEED TO DETAIN MORE PEOPLE.

SO THAT'S ANOTHER ISSUE.

ALSO, TRUMP HAS INSTRUCTED ICE TO DETAIN ALL ñ-

AS SOON AS YOU COME INTO THIS COUNTRY AND YOU ARE

UNDOCUMENTED, YOU ARE BREAKING THE LAW IN DONALD TRUMP'S BOOK,

AND YOU COULD BE PUT IN ONE OF THESE DETENTION CENTERS.

IN OTHER WORDS, THEY WILL BE FILLING UP, AND THEY WILL

BE BUILDING MORE OF THESE FACILITIES.

THAT'S RIGHT.

AND CONDITIONS WILL PROBABLY DECLINE AS POPULATIONS RISE

IN...

RIGHT, BECAUSE IF IT'S RUN LIKE A BUSINESS THEY WANT TO CUT

COSTS AND MAXIMIZE PROFITS.

THERE HAVE BEEN A NUMBER OF REPORTS REGARDING FOR-PROFIT

PRISONS THAT, YOU KNOW, THERE WAS JUST HEINOUS BEHAVIOR.

INHUMANE TREATMENT OF THE INMATES, NOT PROVIDING THE

NECESSARY MEDICAL CARE, AND SO, THAT'S UNSURPRISING WHEN YOU RUN

A PRISON LIKE A BUSINESS.

SO, THIS IS NOT A GOOD

SITUATION, AND I APOLOGIZE THAT WE ARE OPENING THE SECOND HOUR

WITH SUCH A DEPRESSING STORY, BUT THIS IS ONE OF THE MANY

DEVASTATING OUTCOMES OF TRUMP'S PRESIDENCY, AND HIS

ADMINISTRATION.

I HAVE A FAMILY MEMBER WHO WORKS AT A MEDICAL CENTER IN ARIZONA,

AND THERE HAVE BEEN NO DEATHS, AND THEY ALL GO OUT OF THEIR WAY

TO MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS MEDICAL CARE FOR EVERYONE WHO

NEEDS IT, AND THEY ARE SO CLOSELY MONITORED BY GROUPS THAT

COME THROUGH THESE FACILITIES DAILY, SOME OF THEM VERY HIGH

PROFILE, LIKE SOMETIMES JOHN LEGEND COMES THROUGH WITH A

GROUP, AND OTHER GROUPS, SO THERE'S A LOT OF ATTENTION TO

MAKE SURE THAT EVERYONE IS CARED FOR AND FED, BUT AGAIN, IT'S THE

IDEA OF JUST LIKE STOCKPILING, OR WAREHOUSING FACILITIES TO

DETAIN ANYTHING WHILE WE DON'T ADDRESS REAL ISSUES, IT'S JUST

ANOTHER WAY OF, AS YOU SAY, PROFIT INDUCEMENT IS SORT OF

WINNING THE DAY, RATHER THAN REALLY CONFRONTING THE

CONVEXITY OF THE ISSUE.

ñ THE COMPLEXITY OF THE ISSUE.

AND WE HAVE A CONGRESS THAT DOESN'T WANT TO CONFRONT IT.

NO, THEY DON'T WANT TO CONFRONT IT BECAUSE THEY ARE ESSENTIALLY

PAID BY THE SAME CORPORATIONS TO KEEP IT GOING, SO THIS IS THEIR

BREAD AND BUTTER, THEY ARE GOING TO CONTINUE DOING IT.

WE HAVE THE CONVERSATIONS ABOUT THE WAR ON DRUGS, AND WHY

MARIJUANA ON A FEDERAL LEVEL CONTINUES TO BE

CRIMINALIZED, IT STILL LISTED AS A SCHEDULE ONE DRUG AND PEOPLE

ARE LIKE, THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE, WHY IS THAT HAPPENING?

IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO THE ELECTORATE, BUT IT

CERTAINLY MAKES THAT ñ MAKE SENSE OF THE POLITICIANS

THOUGHT IT MAKE SENSE TO THE PEOPLE WHO ARE LOBBYING TO

CONTINUE PROHIBITION, BECAUSE THEY MAKE MONEY OFF OF IT.

Syringe Vending Machines Installed By State - Duration: 5:47.

THE HEROIN EPIDEMIC ñ

CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM IN THE UNITED STATES, BUT SOME

STATES HAVE DECIDED TO TAKE MATTERS INTO THEIR OWN

HANDS AND CREATE POLICIES THAT WOULD HELP THE SPREAD OF

DISEASES AS A RESULT OF INDIVIDUALS SHARING NEEDLES.

IN NEVADA, THEY HAVE DECIDED TO INSTALL WHAT IS REFERRED TO

AS SYRINGE VENDING MACHINES.

THEY ARE EXACTLY WHAT THEY SOUND LIKE.

THIS IS TAKING PLACE SPECIFICALLY IN LAS VEGAS, AND

THE IDEA IS THAT ñ THE IDEA BEHIND IT IS THAT THESE

INDIVIDUALS ARE GOING TO SHARE NEEDLES, THAT THEY ARE GOING TO

SPREAD HEPATITIS AND HIV, AND THAT IS A PUBLIC HEALTH

ISSUE, AND SO WE NEED TO SOMETHING TO AT LEAST

PREVENT THAT FROM HAPPENING.

THEY ARE ACCESSIBLE TO CLIENTS OF A PROGRAM CALLED TRAC-B

EXCHANGE.

ONLY PEOPLE WHO ARE PART OF THIS PROGRAM WILL HAVE ACCESS TO THE

VENDING MACHINES, AND IN MY OPINION THAT IS ONE OF THE

DOWNSIDES, BUT WHAT THEY WANT TO DO IS KEEP TRACK OF THEIR

CLIENTS AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE GETTING THE NECESSARY HELP, BUT

IF YOU ARE NOT PART OF THAT PROGRAM YOU WILL NOT HAVE

ACCESS TO THE VENDING MACHINES.

DRUG USERS CAN SCAN A CARD AND ENTER A UNIQUE ID NUMBER IN

ORDER TO VEND ONE OF THE COLORFULLY GIFTWRAPPED

BOXES INSIDE.

I'M NOT SURE WHY NBC THOUGHT COLORFULLY GIFTWRAPPED WAS

IMPORTANT.

AVAILABLE AT THREE DIFFERENT LOCATIONS BY THE END OF MAY,

EACH CLIENT WILL BE LIMITED TO TWO KIDS A WEEK; EACH BOX

CONTAINS SYRINGES, ALCOHOL WIPES, SAFE SEX SUPPLIES, AND A

DISPOSAL BOX.

I THINK SOME PEOPLE THAT GET TURNED OFF BY THESE IDEAS.

YOU HAVE COUNTRIES LIKE CANADA ñ

LIKE CANADA, FOR INSTANCE, THAT HAVE DECIDED TO CREATE

THESE CENTERS WHERE IF YOU ARE ADDICTED TO HEROIN YOU CAN

GO THERE AND SAFELY INJECT IT, AND A LOT OF CONSERVATIVES

GET TURNED OFF BY THAT IDEA BECAUSE THEY THINK IT

ENCOURAGES PEOPLE TO DO DRUGS, BUT I DON'T THINK ANYONE WOULD

HEAR ABOUT THOSE CENTERS AND THINK TO THEMSELVES, YOU KNOW?

I'VE NEVER TRIED HEROIN BEFORE, LET ME TRY HEROINE AND GOES

TO THE SENSOR TO DO IT.

IT'S ALL ABOUT SPREADING THE ñ

IT'S ALL ABOUT PREVENTING THE SPREADING OF DISEASES.

THAT'S ALSO THEIR ABSTINENCE APPROACH, IF YOU GIVE

PEOPLE CONDOMS WILL BE ENCOURAGING THEM TO HAVE

SEX, RATHER THAN ENCOURAGING THEM TO HAVE SUCCESS.

I LIKE THAT THERE IS DATA THAT SHOWS THAT PROGRAMS LIKE THESE

WORK, IN PREVENTING THE SPREAD OF DISEASES LIKE HIV AND AIDS.

AND I ALSO LIKE THAT IT IS

COMMUNITY-BASED, AND I WOULD BE

INTERESTED IN KNOWING WHAT THE CRITERIA IS FOR PEOPLE TO

REGISTER, BECAUSE LIKE YOU MENTIONED THAT MIGHT BE A

DOWNSIDE, BUT YOU CAN IMPLEMENT THESE SYSTEMS IN WHATEVER

COMMUNITY CONTEXT, BASED ON THE NEEDS OF THAT PARTICULAR

PLACE, SO I THINK THAT THAT IS INTERESTING.

ABSOLUTELY.

I LIKE THE IDEA, I'M JUST NOT SURE THAT IT'S REALLY PRACTICAL.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN?

I MEAN, WHEN YOU WANT TO SHOOT UP AND THERE'S NO VENDING

MACHINE AROUND, WHAT DO YOU DO?

COULD YOU TAKE ME OVER THE VENDING MACHINE, I NEED TO

GET A CLEAN NEEDLE?

I JUST DON'T KNOW IF SOMEONE WHO IS REALLY DON'T THING, AND

NEEDS TO GET HEROINE IS GOING TO BOTHER GOING TO THE VENDING

MACHINE.

IT FEELS LIKE A REAL, LIKE A PROMOTIONAL THING FOR TREATMENT,

WHICH, WE ARE ALL IN SUPPORT OF, LIKE, INCREASED TREATMENT AND

ACCESS TO IT, SO IT KIND OF FEELS LIKE A SORT OF BRANDING,

SORT OF LIKE ñ

AND I THINK THEY ARE DOING THAT ñ

IT'S A VISIBLE WAY OF SAYING TO THE COMMUNITY, THERE ARE

PEOPLE AROUND HERE WHO NEED THESE NEEDLES, BUT MORE

THAN THAT THEY NEED TREATMENT.

THEY DO NEED TREATMENT.

I THINK THE PART OF THAT MAKES ME WORRY IS THAT YOU DO

HAVE TO BE REGISTERED TO THIS PROGRAM, BECAUSE A LOT OF

PEOPLE ARE DISTRUSTFUL, THEY DON'T TRUST ORGANIZATIONS, AND

THEY DON'T TRUST THE GOVERNMENT, AND THEY ARE WORRIED THAT THEY

ARE GOING TO BE ON SOME SORT OF LIST, AND IT COULD NEGATIVELY

IMPACT THEIR LIVES, WHETHER IT'S WITH EMPLOYMENT OR WHATEVER.

I THINK THAT TWO THINGS NEED TO HAPPEN FOR THIS TO BE

EFFECTIVE, BECAUSE YOU RAISE A GOOD POINT.

IF IT'S NOT READILY AVAILABLE OR ACCESSIBLE, IF YOU ARE AN ADDICT

AND YOU WANT TO SHOOT UP, YOU'LL PROBABLY GO AHEAD AND SHARE A

NEEDLE, SO THAT IT'S IMPORTANT TO HAVE IT MORE

ACCESSIBLE, BUT I DON'T THINK THAT PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE TO

REGISTER, I THINK IT SHOULD BE AVAILABLE TO ANYONE WHO HAS

THIS PROBLEM.

AND I AGREE WITH YOU THAT THEY NEED THIS TREATMENT, THEY NEED

TREATMENT, AND UNFORTUNATELY WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH POLITICIANS

WHO WANT TO MOVE IN THAT DIRECTION.

THAT MAY BE THE AIM OF REGISTRATION, IS TO TRACK

PATIENTS, AND THEIR PROGRESS, BECAUSE THEY DO SEEM TO GO

JOIN THIS WITH TREATMENT OPTIONS, OR REHAB

REFERENCES, SO THAT MIGHT BE THE POINT OF REGISTRATION.

BUT, AGAIN, FOLKS ARE VERY DISTRUSTFUL ABOUT

REGISTERING AND IDENTIFYING THEMSELVES AS DRUG USERS.

ANYTHING THAT DISRUPTS THE SORT OF TRADITIONAL SENSIBILITY AND

IDEAS ABOUT DRUG TREATMENT, AND WHO IS DOING DRUGS, IS GOOD,

BECAUSE IT CLEARLY HASN'T WORKED FOR MANY YEARS, AND NOW THAT IT

IS SORT OF REALLY TAKING HOLD IN THESE TINY SMALL TOWNS,

LITTLE TOWN NEAR OHIO WHERE

I GREW UP, WHERE YOU HAVE PEOPLE STRUGGLING.

PEOPLE ARE NOT PREPARED, AND THIS IS A KIND OF A STORY,

OR A PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY THAT GETS PEOPLE TO PAY ATTENTION.

YEAH, ABSOLUTELY.

I THINK THAT'S A GOOD THING.

Ellen Enlists Bradley Cooper To Defeat That Chicken Nugget Kid On Twitter - Duration: 1:27.

Everyone please turn you attention to this pressing global crisis that demands your immediate

assistance: Ellen DeGeneres Twitter game.Yes, the queen of daytime needs your help to keep

the title of the most retweeted tweet of all time, aka that selfie from the 2014 Academy

Awards, and ward off her competition.

Earlier this week, high school student Carter Wilkerson edged closer to closing the gap

between himself and DeGeneres after his tweet to score a year of free Wendy chicken nuggets

received 2.8 million and counting retweets.

DeGeneres is still ahead by a couple hundred thousand, but enlisted the help of Bradley

Cooper, who took the famous Oscar selfie, to encourage her fans to show her some more

Twitter love.

If you think I m going to lose that record to some chicken nugget kid, you are out of

your cluckin mind, she said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Friday, later adding in her and Coopers

PSA,I was sitting on Meryl Streep lap for an uncomfortably long time.
