Hello, Gamerati! Marcelo here. It's the 08th of April, 2017. Let's review the top
5 game news of the week here on this episode of Gamerati News Update sponsored by Petersen Games.
John Wick invites you to join the Explorer's Society and help expand 7th Sea Second Edition.
John Wick Presents aims to facilitate production of third-party material and cut through the
red tape of licensing. If your work is part of 7th Sea Explorer's Society, you can incorporate
material from books published by John Wick Presents and other works from Explorer's
Society. 7th Sea Explorer's Society page on DriveThruRPG has clear and simple rules
for your work to be part of it, templates and illustrations for your product to pop
and tips to draw attention to your creation on social media. Revenues will be split 50/50
between you and John Wick Presents after DriveThruRPG takes its cut.
And if you are a Game Master
looking for new material to your next adventure of 7th Sea 2nd Edition, Explorer's Society
already has a lot of stuff there, from adventures to NPCs, from expanded rules to hacks.
You can find a link to the landing page of 7th Sea Explorer's Society in the description
below.
RuneQuest comes back home to Chaosium on a new edition going back to the classic. RuneQuest,
the fantasy RPG first conceived by Greg Stafford in 1978 and which in its heyday was second
in sales only to Dungeons & Dragons is getting back to its roots and its parent company.
In December we will see the release of RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha core rulebook, Gloranthan
Bestiary, and a scenarios book with adventures designed by Steve Perrin, Ken Rolston, Chris
Klug, and Greg Stafford himself. You won't have to wait that long to sink your teeth
in this new iteration of RuneQuest. A quickstart booklet will be available in June for Free
RPG Day and at the Chaosium website on the 1st of July. RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha
is not a 7th edition. It's built off 1980's RuneQuest 2nd edition (although streamlined
and updated, or course) and it's compatible with the classic RuneQuest and the reprints
of the 2nd Edition line that Chaosium recently crowd-funded. Speaking of crowd-funding, Chaosium
decided not to Kickstart this new RuneQuest. The reasoning behind it expediency: they really
want to release the game as soon as possible. We're living in interesting times.
Mantic Games is so confident you'll gonna love their new The Walking Dead board game
that they'll accept it back and give you a refund in the odd change you don't love it
Mantic kicked it off as kinda of an April Fool's joke on April 1st but for real.
If you buy The Walking Dead: All Out War core box from this month from Mantic's webstore
and you don't enjoy it, you can send it back for a full store credit, including the
original shipping. You have to pay for the return shipping, though. The core box for
The Walking Dead: All Out War was released last December with expansions and boosters
to come out this year, starting in May. One of the features I like about this game is
the expandable nature of it: you can play it in an area as small as a kitchen table
or as big as a large dining table with dozens of miniatures, like a wargame. So if you want
to take Mantic at their word head over to manticgames.com and look for the core box
for The Walking Dead: All Out War. You have before the 30th of April to contact Mantic
to return the game in case you want to return it.
Dust regroups and reaccesses the tactical situation in the US and comes back in full
force with its own distributor. Dust, of Dust 1947 as it was originally released, is the
miniature wargame designed by Paolo Parente that tells a story of an alternative
World War II that never ended thanks to the… ah. How can I put it? Mechas. Yeah. Giant walking
robots powered by a rare ore called Vk. The current version of Dust that's going to
be distributed in the United States by Dust USA is a streamlined version of the game that
was conceived by Dust Studios to be more forgiving to newcomers, especially ones that aren't
very familiar with miniature wargaming. All you need to play is a couple of Starter Sets
and about 15 minutes of your time. No, really. The base game only takes 15 minutes to play.
You can expand it to a full-fledged, rules-dense wargame with expansions, but only if you really
want to. Dust USA is offering the game direct to retailers and is suggesting a list of best
sellers so stores know what to stock first nor overwhelm their potential customers with
options. So if you're interested, ask around your FLGS for Dust. That way they know there
in interest in the game.
The PC Game Marvel Heroes from last year is about to get a console version. The action-focused
MMORPG Marvel Heroes will come to Xbox One and PS4 calling itself Marvel Heroes Omega.
The developer Gazillion is promising the game will hit consoles in the spring and a closed
beta will be available soon, so we still don't know the rules and requirements to be part
of the beta yet. Marvel Heroes and now Marvel Heroes Omega is the natural evolution of Marvel
Ultimate Alliance, but on a large scale. Marvel Heroes was released for PC last year by Gazillion
after three years in development. The company assures PC gamers that they won't abandon
the PC version of game. Development of both versions will continue at the same time.
