All they need is a little magic!
Hello Kickstarter, we are Camille and Marion, the co-founders of Tourmaline.
Here we create games blending physical and digital elements.
Today we are proud to show you Oniri Islands, an adventure and exploration game
where the characters are two smart toys.
Oniri Islands is where toys and video games meet.
The figurines are the game controllers, you place them on the tablet and as you move them,
you explore the fabulous world of Oniri.
The interactions were specifically designed for this toys tablet setup,
and put the smart toys at the heart of the gameplay.
The game is made for two players in cooperation: you help each other progress in the adventure.
Oniri gathers all kinds of people:
big and small,
friends,
parents and children
around a unique experience to share together.
Oniri is an adventure game
it puts you in the shoes of Tim and Mina
a brother and a sister, kidnapped and stranded
on the shores of a mysterious island.
It is a very dangerous place
and in order to solve its secrets, and go back home
Tim and Mina will need to use animal masks
just like this
masks giving them amazing powers.
With the game box you get: a tablet app, the two figurines of Mina and Tim and 5 animal masks.
Each mask comes with a unique magical power, and allows you to play and explore the island
in different ways.
Before we start the production of Oniri islands, we made many prototypes for more than a year.
We evolved our toys:
we tested different materials, different designs,
we constantly refined their interactions with the tablet,
to feel like they are moving and exploring the island.
We developped gameplay which never existed before in an adventure and exploration game.
Thanks to losts of feedback from our playtesters, we improved the overall game experience.
We wrote a beautiful story set in a unique universe, with poetic, colorful
and lively visuals and sounds.
Our goal is to create a magical place for you to explore.
To make the interaction between figurines and tablet possible, we use a technology invented
by the french studio Volumique.
There is no NFC or RFID inside, it cleverly uses the static electricity from your body.
Today we offer you the first part of the game: three playable chapters.
The toys are ready for manufacture and shipment.
Now we need your help to produce the first batch.
This means you will be the first to own and play Oniri Islands.
As first players, you will shape the future of the game and the new chapters to come.
