(English Subs)Le métissage est-il une solution pour mettre fin au racisme? - Duration: 14:35.

Hello my foodies!!

After approximatively a month without posting a video, i come back with a video about interbreeding

Yesterday, i saw in an afro-feminist group (facebook) an article untitled :

"Interbreeding is not the answer to the fight against racism"

I will put the link of this really interesting article article in the info box

I agreed with the opinion of the writer.

Few weeks ago, i went to see the Première of the movie "Les Mariannes Noires" (the Black Mariannes)

I will make a video about that movie later

I remember that, that day we had a debate about interbreeding

and if it will or not benefit to the fight against racism

A lady took the stand to say she favored the "black love"

which is literally supporting love between Blacks.

I partially agreed with her opinion

but i did not intervene in the debate regarding this fact.

When we came back from that event, a friend of us drove me home.

While we were in the car, a friend of mine ask me my opinion regarding the opinion of the lady

who favors black love (and was really against interbreeding)

because some weeks before, i told them about a debate i had with another african facebook group i was in.

They posted a picture which was illustrating the colonial age

in which you could see naked black women laid on table who were abused by whites.

Under the picture was written the words : women who go out with whites are brainwashed

(a kind of : they are foregetting the past and were we suffered from those same whites they love)

I came on the debate to say there was no link between the fact that we were aware (or not) about our history and the person we choose to be with.

I added that mixing all the past and the present this way wasn't a good idea.

My point of view wasn't understood and the debate lasted for a while.

So my friend wanted to know my opinion regarding the lady favoring black love arguments.

I think that day, i wasn't able to express myself as i wanted and i thought it would be good to talk about that in a video.

I have a problem with the idea that "interbreeding will make the racism disappear"

is located at several levels. First :

I am not against mixed couples.

I have no issue with that.

Each person is attracted to someone by the quality or hobbies his/her can have...

Anyway, it's hard to justify the feelings you can have towards someone,

it's hard to think "i will only be with this or that kind of person and anyone else."

I mean, some people can do it and look for that but to my point of view and when i look at my personal experience.

It would be hard for me to think this way.

Ok, so this was the first thing.

Let me insist on it : i have NOTHING against mixed couples (i'd rather say it because i am sure someone would say this)

Nevertheless, the problem I have is

the tendency people have to put mixed couples above others and to advocate for interbreeding.

As if, it was an obligation or the solution to any issue.

So I am going to give you an example to show how it can't be the case.

On a Camerounian facebook group,

i mean, as far as i remember, it might not be the case but whatever, it's not that pertinent.

A lady came to us asking for advice because she had a niece who came to see her one night

to tell her that one of her classmate had been making fun of her she was as black as poop, a lot of stuff like that (i can't remember)

anyway, a lot of insult for her to know she was ugly because she was black

Hearing that story, the aunt rose up "what? i am going to see this little boy and his mum tomorrow, you will see, we will sort this out!"

The little girl looked at her auntie.

She was a little bored but said anything and left.

The day after, the aunt and her niece went to the school. The aunt was thinking in her mind "i am going to talk to

this little boy and his mother and we gonna see that today!"

She then asked her niece to show her the little boy who is bullying her.

As a response, her niece pointed a mixed-raced boy out.

The aunt, a bit surprised just responded "Oh. Well, ok..."

Later, her niece showed her the mother of the little boy : she was black.

The aunt was really chocked and did not know what kind of reaction she should have.

Finally, she did not say anything to the little boy and his mother.

If the little girl got bored the day before, it was because she already told about that issue to another relative of her

and this person had the same exact reaction. She thought to herself : nothing is going to change and no one would do anything.

In the group, we were questioning the situation.

Some of them were saying (and they were right) "if this little boy's mother is black

and if he's mixed-raced, it means his father is white,

what is going on in that couple for that child, who has a black mother, to allow himself to say to a classmate of him who is also black

'she is ugly because she is as black as poop' ? "

We finally questionned the relation of the couple.

But not to much for me because (i wanted to find a solution for the little girl).

I tell you this story for you to understand that it's not because a child is a mixed between two cultures that it solves something.

Regarding interbreeding, 90% of the time,

the child will be more affected by a culture than another.

One culture will precedence over the other.

I have the example of one mixed couple where the mother really likes the fact that her husband is African.

She gave Camerounian names to her children,

she wanted her kids to know the Camerounian culture,

she wanted them to keep and grow their curly hair...

So even if her kids grew in France with the French culture, they were also introduced to the African culture.

But if we talk about a black person (man or woman whatever)

who acknowledge his/her western culture more than the African one,

if that person choose a white partner,

the baby they would give birth to would grow only the Western culture.

So to think that just because s/he has "black blood" in his/her genes, s/he would grow aware about his/her African culture

well, no, S/he would not. Thinking that this baby to come's birth will defeat racism is a mistake.

We found a lot of case of women, i saw it on internet, (the link is down below and it's in english) i don't know if i will be able to find it,

who struggle in mixed relationships. I have this example of that woman who was complaining because

her husband was using really bad words to talk about her while they were in the marital bed.

The terms he used were really violent (like "n*gger bitch"), i don't really remember all of them, luckily for me...

But yeah, the idea is : it's not because they are in a mixed relationship that

the white person who choose a black or a person of color generally speaking,

is necessarily aware of (or interested in) the questions and problematics of non white people as a whole.

There is also another aspect that i want to talk about :

The interbreeding seeing as exotic.

It is seen like a kind of aesthetics to achieve.

This person is not black nor white, s/he is lightly tanned, with a complexion a little bit more weathered

S/he sometimes has colored eyes, so s/he is more attractive.

She has nice curls ect ect..

It's really seems to be only based on aesthetics.

I often see people's reaction when they see a mixed-race baby and it looks like :

"oh look at this beautiful mixed-race baby!!"

So we have that feeling that : if the baby is beautiful, people can't...i mean, this is what i see as commentaries

It looks like :

"What a beautiful mixed-race baby!! The union between black and white is so beautiful! look how beautiful this baby is! How can we be racist after seeing this!!"

what is the...

So here we are moving the issue,

because the baby is beautiful, it will necessarily imply that there can't be racism or colorism and so on...

People are mixing a lot of things together and at the end, the result makes no sense.

The person who wrote the article made a comparison between Blue Ivy Carter and North West

You all know that Blue Ivy is Beyonce's daughter (and North West Kim Kardashian's)

From her birth and before being 3 years old, she was moked by the American Press Media,

I don't think they were the only one though.

A petition who has more than 6;000 signatures was even created to ask Queen B

to take care of her daughter's horrible kinky hair.

Just for you to see that people already have an opinion about what a "typical mixed-race person" should look like.

If this mixed-race kid doesn't fit the profil, people will allow themselves to judge him/her.

But if you look at North West, she's got curly , not kinky hair.

So she is the image of the mixed-race girl people are wanted for cause contrary to Blue Ivy,

who took the negroid features of her father,

North West is the "mixed-race with whom everyone agrees"

As a consequence, in the article, the writer explains that

USA made a study in which it was said that in 2050,

more than half of the US population would be mixed.

They were advocating for the interbreeding in the article.

As a consequence, you would have classification of complexion's colors.

If you look at the media, they are more mixed race people.

When we were watching movies like "Les Mariannes Noires" and "Ouvre la Voix"

The filmmakers told us that as actors, they couldn't fit the profile for the screen because they were to dark for it.

Or, that when they could get a role play, it was eventually to play the ghetto girl from the suburb and that it was really hard for them.

There is already a classification regarding your skin complexion. The lightest you are, the easiest you will be able to access some social environnement,

some jobs... The darkest you are, the hardest it will be.

With that way of thinking, with this tendency to delimit the interbreeding more to a physical than a cultural aspect,

it won't work.

This is the reason why i think interbreeding is not the solution to the fight against racism.

The real issue is the acceptance of others' culture.

As long as we will not be able to accept that uniformisation doesn't exist,

that we are not all the same, that we don't all think the same,

that we don't share the same history,

it will be hard for us to understand each other.

Indeed, this will create misunderstandings, discriminations...

That was the message I wanted to share with you guys.

If they are mixed race people watching,

who were born from parents coming from different cultures,

don't hesitate to say it in the comment section and give your opinion about the subject

You can also talk about your experience if you want to

For those who are coming from a different culture (western or not)

what do you think about interbreeding?

Do you think it would end racism?

what was your opinion before and what is your opinion after watching the video?

Is it still the same? Did you only acknowledged the aesthetics part of it?

what do you think about this mixed-culture aspect?

Do you think that you can choose these kind of relationship and be with someone from another culture?

So, do not hesitate to give your opinion!!

That's all for today, i think i talked to much! It talked for more than 15min

I thought it would last less than 5min but it's seems like i made a huuuge mistake!!

So, that's all for today!

I hope you liked the video

I want to say : "let's meet up next week", but i know myself, it's possible that it won't be the case!

So, let's say : See you next time!

Waiting for that : eat a lot of vegetables, drink a lot of water,

but first and foremost : keep smiling :)

deuces!! =)

Say hi everyone (laughs).

And it's just a really fun way to share our life

and so I'm a little nervous actually speaking in person.

This thing doesn't make me nervous at all,

so it's kind of backwards.

Hearthstone - What Small-Time Buccaneer Could Have Been - Duration: 4:28.

Whats up guys its me Disciple!

Together with Patches, Small Time Buccaneer has been destroying the standard meta, and

two buccaneer + patches are played in a ton of decks, even non-aggressive ones.

However, in a recent interview with IGN Mike Donais actually revealed that there were a

bunch of different versions of Small Time Buccaneer, some of which were actually even

stronger than the current version of the card!

So let's dive right in and take a look at what Small Time Buccaneer could have been!

According to the devs.

Small Time Buccaneer was always going to be a neutral minion, but the actual card itself

changed around five or six times during the design process.

We don't actually have info on all of the versions of the card, but the devs did give

us an idea about what a couple of the versions looked like, so we can definitely take a look

at those and then think about how the current version of the card worked out.

So the earliest version of Small Time Buccaneer was a card called "Swashbuckler" that

was a one mana one/one and gained attack and health equal to the attack of your weapon.

This is super broken and would have made pirate decks even more frustrating to play against

if it had ended up getting printed.

You could turn one coin a fiery war axe, and the next turn upgrade and play swashbuckler.

That would give you a 4/3 weapon and a five/five minion on turn two.

If you play Swashbuckler while you have an arcanite reaper equipped, even an unbuffed

one, then you're paying one mana for a six/six minion.

Even just playing it after a nzoth's first mate, to get two one/ones because of patches

and a two/two on turn one is really solid, and makes Swashbuckler a really versatile

card that can be a good beater no matter when you play it, as long as it's with

a weapon.

All in all Swashbuckler is a pretty cool design but would be way too OP in standard, so the

card ended up getting reworked.

Another one of the iterations we know about was a one mana one/two that gained two attack

whenever you equipped a weapon.

Now this might seem pretty similar to the current version of small time buccaneer, but

there are definitely some key differences.

It was sometimes a little bit worse if you had already equipped a weapon, since it didn't

get to be a 3/2 unless you equipped another one, but usually you just equipped a weapon

right after and it was more or less the same.

Some of the time you could even get it to be a 5/2 if you equipped a couple weapons,

or even bigger.

Unfortunately this made the Small Time Buccaneer pretty broken in rogue, since you could just

hero power a couple times and make him huge, and so Blizzard decided to make the card a

little bit worse, and we arrived at the current version of the card.

It's actually pretty interesting because Mike Donais, one of the devs, even says that

they released the card after nerfing it, and that it's a common mistake that can happen

where devs think a card is balanced just because they've nerfed it already.

At the time of making this video, the nerf to Small Time Buccaneer was just very recently

announced, and so the the final interaction actually will end up becoming a one/one that

gets +2 attack if you have a weapon equipped.

This will probably be a pretty balanced version of the card, but it's super interesting

to think about Small Time Buccaneer's journey, and how it was such a meta dominating card

despite being reworked and nerfed so many times in the development process.

Those are some of the designs and things that Small Time Buccaneer could have been, what

changes would you make to the card?

Let us know in the comments!

And it looks like that's gonna be it from me, if you enjoyed the video drop a like,

subscribe if you want, thanks for watching, and I'll see you guys next time!

Why did Trump bomb Syria? | Riley J. Dennis - Duration: 5:25.

You probably heard about Trump bombing Syria a few days ago, but it can be difficult to

grasp the full extent of what's going on over there, and what's been going on for years.

I'm not going to pretend to fully understand the conflict and all its intricacies, even

Obama said it was one of the hardest things he had to deal with as President, but I'm

going to do my best to summarize the recent events for you in a few minutes.

There's one thing I know for sure, though, and it's that a reality TV star is probably

not the best person to be in charge of our military at a time like this.

So, first let's start with a little backstory.

The Syrian Civil War has been going on since 2011, and there are a lot of different sides

involved, but in a way oversimplified version, it's essentially Bashar al-Assad's government

against the rebellion, which includes the Free Syrian Army, the Syrian Democratic Forces,

and a bunch other rebel groups that don't all entirely agree with each other, and ISIS

is also fighting against both sides in an effort to take control of the region.

A study by the Syrian Centre for Policy research estimated that by February 2016, nearly 500,000

people had been killed and 2 million had been injured over the course of the Civil War,

and that number has undoubtedly risen substantially in the last year.

Over 5 million Syrian refugees have been registered outside of Syria by the United Nations High

Commissioner on Refugees, which is the official organization

resettling Syrian refugees in other countries.

They estimate that another 6 million people have been internally displaced within Syria,

meaning that they had to flee their homes because of violence but stayed within the country.

That's about 11 million people total who've been forced to leave their homes, out of a

country with only about 23 million people -- so nearly half the population.

Assad's government has been guilty of a lot of wrongdoing.

The Civil War broke out when Assad chose to fight peaceful protests by killing and jailing protesters.

Since then, his regime has killed civilians regularly, using weapons that kill indiscriminately

like barrel bombs, and also by starving entire cities and depriving them of resources like medicine.

The situation is really bad, but the US has mostly stayed out of it.

The reasons for that are, of course, complicated, but one of the large ones is that the US government

hasn't wanted to get dragged into another long drawn-out war in the Middle East.

Plus, Russia has been backing Assad's regime, so any kind of attack on Assad could provoke

Russia and escalate a larger conflict between the US and Russia.

In many ways, the Civil War in Syria is a proxy for other countries' interests in

the region, and because of that, what happens there has global effects.

The US almost got involved in August of 2013 when evidence came out

that Syria had used chemical weapons on civilians.

Obama almost decided to retaliate against them for that.

He asked congress for approval, but they probably would have voted against intervening in Syria.

So instead, before they voted, he decided to work out a diplomatic deal with Syria and

Russia where Syria was meant to destroy all of their chemical weapons.

At that time, Donald Trump was strongly against intervening in Syria.

He tweeted about it a lot, telling President Obama to stay out of Syria, saying that "very

bad things" would happen if he attacked. Fast forward to 2017.

Trump is now our President, and Assad has once again used chemical weapons on civilians.

The attack was atrocious and sickening and completely against international law.

But the US faces the same predicament that it had in 2013.

An attack against Assad could provoke a larger war with Russia, and it could drag the US

into a long and fruitless war in Syria.

I certainly don't know what the right move is in this situation, and I don't think anyone does.

Foreign policy experts have been dealing with this situation and situations very similar

to it for a long time now, and they've managed to screw up quite a lot of them.

I don't think there's any perfect solution that can solve all the problems.

Every line of action has negative consequences.

However, what's bizarre about Trump's decision to bomb one of Syria's airbases

is that his position for so long has been to stay out of Syria.

That was a major talking point during his campaign.

He didn't even seek congressional approval for the attack -- which was something

he said Obama needed back in 2013.

It seems like he got emotional and made a decision without fully understanding the ramifications

of how that might pan out in the future.

Right now, it looks like this was a one-time thing.

Trump was responding to Syria's use of chemical weapons, specifically, not condemning them

for the other ways they kill civilians.

It wasn't intended to protect innocent Syrians from any other kind of violence.

It was simply a move against chemical weapons.

This is in line with the US's desire to prevent the spread of chemical weapons as a tactic used in war.

But now what happens if Assad uses chemical weapons again?

Will there be another retaliatory attack?

Russia has already spoken out against this attack by the US,

and another one could escalate the situation even further.

Another odd thing about it, though, is that Trump had previously said that the US shouldn't

warn Syria before attacking, but the Trump administration did notify Russia about the

attack in an effort to protect Russian and Syrian personnel.

It just seems like a total 180 on everything he had previously had to say about Syria.

And on top of all this, Trump has tried twice now to ban all Syrian refugees from entering

the US, at a time when Syrian refugees are desperately in need of help.

His executive order in January banned them indefinitely, and his revised executive order

in March banned them for 120 days -- but both bans have been blocked by the judicial branch.

So I don't really believe him when he says that he cares for the lives of innocent Syrians,

because he's willing to turn so many of them away when millions are in need of a safe place to go.

They're just trying to escape a conflict that is horrific.

And Trump is willing to appeal to that humanitarian side when it comes to justifying his attack

on the Syrian airbase, but he ignores it when considering his policy towards Syrian refugees.

Like I said, I don't think there's a perfect solution to this.

Maybe this will intimidate Assad and prevent him from using chemical weapons in the future.

Maybe it won't, and the US will slowly get pulled into another expensive and unending war.

Maybe this is the beginning of a proxy war with Russia.

But however it plays out, Syrians are going to lose, and Trump is doing nothing to really help them.

He's interested in preventing the spread of chemical weapons, which is good, but he

doesn't seem particularly interested in protecting innocent civilians from any other kind of atrocity.

He doesn't want to expand our refugee program to help Syrians fleeing violence, and he's

completely flip-flopped on his promise to stay out of Syria.

His policy at the moment is just inconsistent and messy, and I really can't believe he's

the one in charge of all of this.

If you would like to help, the best thing you can do is donate to the International

Rescue Committee or the UNHCR -- two amazing

organizations that are on the ground in Syria helping refugees.

You can also call your senators and representatives and

tell them that you want the US to accept more Syrian refugees.

I'll have links for all of that down in the description.

And that is everything I had for you today.

Thanks for watching this episode of Politics with Riley, and I'll see you next time.
