As Newsmax reported, the Antifa violence in Berkeley on Sunday is increasing the demand
for action to be taken against the organization.
Fox News' Laura Ingraham recommended a strong course of action that could be taken to stop
them, according to The Hill.
She suggests we label them a terrorist organization.
"We should also urge everyone to consider pressing this idea of declaring Antifa a terrorist
organization."
Considering the numerous violent acts they've committed in the last year alone, it would
be an appropriate response.
An article by The Daily Caller chronicles the violence of Antifa members since June
2016 at a Trump rally in San Jose, California.
The article details the attacks on Trump supporters, violence against police, dragging people with
cars, burning flags, shooting at passing cars and a number of other horrific acts.
And the list only extends to June 2017.
Ingraham condemns the Democrats who have fanned the flames of Antifa in the past months.
"They're volunteering all of this condemnation joyfully against President Trump post-Charlottesville.
They piled on him as fast as possible after Charlottesville."
She suggests legal action could be taken that could hold Democrats responsible for making
a bad situation worse.
"[Antifa] is actively trying to intimidate, suppress free speech, and violently attack
people with whom they disagree…There's a possible RICO action that could be filed
here, Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organization statute that we could pursue
here."
Ingraham points out that the organization isn't very organized given their anarchist
roots, and while that makes it hard to anticipate their moves, it does leave weaknesses.
"There are a lot of different ways to act against this disparate group called Antifa.
It's kind of an amalgam of a bunch of left-wing anarchists and activists.
There is no central organization, they're all over the place, but there is a way to
pursue this and I hope this administration is looking at this very carefully because
people could die here."
The belief that Antifa should be considered something more than political protesters is
shared by Jesse Arreguin, Mayor of Berkeley California.
In a statement following the violence during the protests, he called for Antifa to be considered
a crime gang.
He told local CBS reporters, "I think we should classify them as a gang.
They come dressed in uniforms.
They have weapons, almost like a militia, and I think we need to think about that in
terms of our law enforcement approach."
Arreguin also echoed Ingraham's sentiments that Democrats should be held accountable
for encouraging their extreme behavior.
"We also need to hold accountable and encourage people not to associate with these extremists
because it empowers them and gives them cover."
According to Newsweek, California law defines gangs as an organization of at least three
people unified by a shared name or symbol and engage in criminal activity.
Considering the countless beatings of civilians, assaults on officers and destroying both public
property and businesses, they certainly fit the bill.
An ongoing petition to declare Antifa a terrorist organization also points out that Antifa similarly
can be classified as terrorists considering "the use of violence and intimidation in
pursuit of political aims," which they routinely implement, such as attacking 'fascists'
or 'free speech' protesters, or really anyone who differs from their political opinions.
The only way to truly protect Americans from the growing threat of Antifa is to respond
to their violence as acts of terrorism and criminal behavior.
They shouldn't be praised or encouraged, but condemned and jailed for their crimes.
