Hello everybody, my name is Msh
Today we are visiting "Lvov Brama"
an unfinished Kiev metro station
We've got 5 people
Hey, everyone!
3 of us are sitting in the interconnection
the other 2 went ahead
We are going to have an active video footage
in the working metro, so there are trains
It's really challenging and akward
Wish us luck
Dear subscribers, wish us luck
After letting the train pass by,
we are running towards the Lvov Brama station
We have enough time until the next train
but it's better hurry to reach the next place to hide
Now about the station itself
Its history is simple and resembles the story
of the Admiralteyskaya station in St. Petersburg
which was a "ghost" station
It was called a "ghost" station because
the trains swept by without stopping for 14 years
Physically there is a station,
but it doesn't exist on the map
Admiralteyskaya station was not finished
because the city couldn't resolve the issue
with resettlement of the house
where the station entrance lobby should be located
Same here
Wow. Ksyusha is serious about getting there!
Oh, lets not distract
The entrance lobby of this station
should end up on Lvov Square,
where until the middle of the XIX century
there were the Lvov Gates
ie. historical entrance to ancient Kiev
In Ukrainian, the gate is a "brama"
hence the name of the station
Obviously the square is very old,
lots of historical buildings, narrow streets, tight spaces
clearly not suitable for subway construction.
The entire area requires a major redesign
to accomodate the station entrance lobby
And this issue has been on hold since 1996
deferring the opening of the station
to some unknown time in the future
For now, the trains pass by the finished platforms
without stopping
Even the central hall is ready,
with partly finished back walls, and that's about it
For me personally, it was interesting to look at it,
as a place inaccessible to an ordinary passenger.
In advance, I apologize for the quality of the footage
at that time I lacked experience
in underground video recording together with
fully working metro conditions
Let's roll
We don't have to go far, tunnel inreconnect is here
Tunnel interconnect is the connection
between two tunnels
An ideal place to hide from the train
I'll assemble the stabilizer there, pack the camera
and we'll move to the next place
There the spaces will be much tighter
How are you?
Did you like the race?
Oh, great
Ok, stay cool
Have something to say?
Is it a cross-cutting?
Yup
everything's okay
10 minutes later in the next interconnection
Guess what? We are having another stop
which is called the interconnection
Dany climbed a little higher
The interconnection is way too small
I'll come down and
show it to you, before the train passes by
This little nook will become our shelter
from the approaching train
Dany climbed higher to free some space
but me and Ksiusha will have to tightly squeeze in
Behind the lattice you can see a drainage pump
We are squeezing in
Somewhere the water flows...
I don't remember the words
Let's recall them
Waiting for the approaching train is one of the most
touching moments during the trip in the subway
"Cavens" the ones who creep on these kinds of places
so as not to burn in the rays of the projectors,
they hug each other so tightly that sometimes
out of three people you get the volume of one
As they say - you do whatever you can
in order not to get noticed
The trip in the subway somewhere looks like this
Going from the interconnect to the other,
you run between the trains, gradually approaching the target
Someone may ask - what if the train is coming
and there's nowhere to hide?
Will it hit you, after all? No, it will not
The tunnel is designed in such a way
that allows for people to stay alive
It is however necessary to stand on a concrete path
which you see on the right
The driver, of course, will see you
and this would mean the end of trip
But it's better to be alive and tell the police
what the hell you were doing in the tunnel, than
turn into a shower of meat and bones flying off the train
Meanwhile, we have almost reached the Lvov Brama
We let the train pass by and we run
That's it. Hooray. We are at the station
Now we need to quickly take our pictures and go back
Here we are, on Lvov Brama station
We've done it
The line wall is already decorated with marble
The platform is almost ready
in fact, only the finish was left
right now we are standing on a platform
a on the next platform are
police officers and station attendants
Maybe they are somewhere in the central hall
All the doors, that lead there are closed
but they could be opened at any minute
Here is a pylon-type station
The side openings between the pylons are open
but closed by these metal sheets
I think that the overwhelming majority of viewers
does not understand what are tunnel side openings
and what is a pylon station
I will explain briefly
The pylon station is the type of subway station
There are several major types of subway stations
Single-vaulted station
when both platforms and tracks are under a single vault
A good example of this type is Novocherkasskaya or the
Square of Courage stations in the St.Petersburg metro
Column-type station
Here, everything is clear
The platforms and the central hall are separated
by a number of columns
As an example, Mayakovskaya station in Moscow
And pylon station
instead of columns there are pylons
poles with huge cross-section
Extremely thick poles
Pushkinskaya station in St. Petersburg, as an example
Without getting into details
of subway construction technology
I will say that in the beginning, three tunnels are built
and they do not connect with each other
Generally, in the central tunnel,
there is an exit to the escalators
and in the side tunnels there are loading platforms
At the end of the construction
all of these tunnels are joined together
by opening of the sides
Basically they connect the central tunnel
with the side ones
This is a crucial step in the construction of the station
and after it's done you can proceed
with an artistic decoration of the station
At the Lvov Brama station all tunnels are connected
This means that the majority of hard work is done
only remaining part is the inclined exit shaft
and all mining-related work will be completed
And that's how we have to wait for every train
The trains don't pass that often
But as soon as you run out on the platform
to film something, you have to hide again
And it is better to hide as soon as possible
As we say, Hello to every one of my subscribers
Five diggers were hiding behind some cabinets
On an unfinished Kiev metro station "Lvov Brama"
How is the line called? Syretsko-Pechyorska?
Syretsko-Pecherska
Syretsko-Pecherska
Yes, Syretsko-Pecherska, not Syretsko-Pechyorska
The green line of the Kiev Metro
That's how MSH spends his vacation, and that's cool
Sitting here like gophers
Danya is leaving?
sec
have a nice one
Bye, I'll keep in touch
Have a nice way out!
Ok, the guys are gone and we'll go after the next train
Ksusha take photos while it it possible
The best thing about this place
is that you can visit it while it is unfinished
Someday it'll be finished
and we cannot come here again
But now this station reminds me of
an Admiralteyskaya ghost station in St. Petersburg
Which remained unfinished for a long time
and was in pretty much the same condition
because there were problems with building the exits
Here they have similar problems
By the way, up there you can see metal insulation
of the tunnel cladding
I'm rambling a bit...
This is something like a drain system
Later they will put plaster on it
And then the drain will become white and beautiful
Tha drain system serves for diverting possible leaks
through the lining of the tunnel,
including the tubings
So the water won't drop on passengers heads
The process is clear:
water flows down the probe and then it goes
to the drain system,
from where it is being pumped out to the surface
What is shown in the video is a temporary measure
because previously they used
asbestos cement drain systems
and now they use composite materials
Here goes the train on the adjacent track
We're hiding again
Basically, we have to get out soon
The time is 22:36
Unfortunately, I've forgotten the name
of whoever had given me these gloves
By the way, the train comes on our side
Hide everyone!
By the way, that's how the station looks from the train
You can see almost nothing except that there's light.
In memory of visiting the station,
we have taken a couple of pictures
But, as you can see, we are on the platform
Locals say that the central hall is guarded
I did not try to find this out, because
the consequences could be expensive for me
So here you are a photo from the internet
as you can see the situation in the central hall
is no better than on the platform.
By the way, here will be a door to the cable unit
Usually, people think that behind these doors
are food stocks, but alas...just cables
So there are no food stocks in case of war
Behind the wall...
Behind the wall run the cables
which you can see in the tunnels
Some of these cables run under the platform
in the substation collector
and some run over there
behind the door
Here they are, just a couple of them
Diggers are coming out
2nd track
In front of the station is a big hole
There is an interconnect
That's all, we're climbing down,
climbing over the contact rail,
without touching it
And of we go deep inside the tunnel
We have to run a lot, so lets start running
Sometimes we have to run 30-40 minutes one way
then run 30-40 minutes the other way
in order to hang out 20 minutes on the station
But it's worth it
The emotions you get
are priceless
But it's deadly dangerous
I mean it!
Here goes the contact rail
it has a voltage of 1 kilovolt
Not really a kilovolt
But the maximum voltage
in St. Petersburg metro is 975 volts
You can say that it's almost a kilovolt
it's some serious voltage
It'll fry you like a roasted chiken
or you can accidentally fall between the cross-ties
trip over, for example
You fall and break something...
because the road is not smooth
It's all in bumps, let's call it so
Cross-ties are sticking out, the cables are sticking out
and so on...
As it is said
watch this from your screens
and leave this job for professionals
Guys fled, because we decided to miss an interconnect
The intervals are long enough
to walk to the next interconnect
But still you have a small fear
What has happened to your sole?
Is it hungry?
Cheap chinese footwear, 180 hryvnia, good for a month
You have the same story?
Watch this, my shoelace comes out from here
Oh, great, the shoelace is hungry
We are next to the transport interconnection,
whence the transformer is being removed
for revision and repairing
STP-72
combined traction-reduction substation 72
Eventually we met with the guys,
to whom we said goodbye
That's how clean we are,
that's the metro,
that's the guys,
that's the digging,
and that's how we spend our time
Thumbs up, subscribe and repost
It was Msh with you in Kiev and a team of subscribers
It's Kiev
It's September
It's year 2015
Bye, bye
