So, in this video on meditation,
we're going to take a look at some
of the most common mistakes that people make
in either entering a meditation practice
or entering a meditation session.
There are couple of things
that if you don't know about them
can actually derail your practice a little bit.
As well as some of the mistakes that a lot of us have.
I know I had these for a long time
in even thinking about meditation
that kind of screwed up my practice.
So, once you eliminate these mistakes
and some of these pitfalls,
then your practice flows a lot smoother.
You get right in that zone,
you're surfing those delta waves
and life just gets a lot better.
So one of the mistakes is this,
making it more complicated than it has to be.
I have literally seen people take weeks.
One person I can think she actually took three years,
until she prepared the perfect
environment with which to meditate.
Three years.
Now I'm not judging her choices,
that's totally her right,
and yet, making it more complicated
than it has to be
robs you of those sweet, sweet delta waves
because all you need to do is do nothing.
That's it.
And so, thinking it has to be more complicated,
or, you know I've gotten emails and messages
from students and clients saying,
you know Jessie, I was all primed and ready
to drop in on my meditation,
and I realized, oh, I forgot my,
you know my blindfold and so I just put my meditation
for the next day.
I'm like come on, man, you don't need all that stuff.
I've seen probably almost every excuse
why people have that they didn't meditate that day.
Well it was too loud.
Great, what better practice to drive you further
into hyper presence than a little bit
of auditory resistance training.
Look at it that way.
Or, you know, I just go too busy.
You know, I had too many other things going on.
Well that in itself could be a mistake
that derails your practice.
I mean, come on, is there anybody else
on this entire planet more important than you?
I know what you're saying right now,
like, yes, my kids are more important,
my spouse is more important.
Okay, I'm not saying they're not important,
but here's the thing,
if you love them, and I know you do,
doesn't it just make sense
that they get all of you?
Instead of some fractured focus.
So if these are people that we really love
and we really care about,
doesn't it make sense to give them
every bit of us that we have.
And you can reclaim that connection
with your own frequency
in only 20 minutes?
So then seems to me that not giving yourself
that connection,
not giving yourself
that refresher,
not giving yourself that reboot,
and that replenishment of energy that meditation can be,
not giving yourself that,
is actually screwing over the people that you love.
So just don't do that.
Give yourself priority.
Another mistake that a lot of folks make
is putting meditation off until the perfect time.
You know, I'm going to meditate right before I go to work.
Or, gosh, should I meditate in the morning
or should I meditate in the afternoon?
Find your own time that works for you.
Split test realities and find out which one
comes out ahead.
Then do that.
There's no need to sit and wait and hmm, and huh and huh.
In the meantime present moment is there,
it's waiting for you,
it's just waiting.
Another mistake,
is, I really want to get a group together,
so that we can all have a meditation group
because there's a lot of power in meditating in a group.
So,
how long have you been waiting for these
magical people to show up?
To give yourself the gift of
solitude.
Time out, let's just look at how this sounds.
I'm waiting for the group of people to arrive
so that I can practice solitude.
Okay, so we're done with that one?
Okay, good.
No more waiting,
you don't need anything.
You need you.
And that's the one thing in this life you've always got.
20 minutes,
turn your phone off,
and just give yourself that space.
In future videos I'll give you a little bit more
of a clearer recipe,
and we'll show you exactly what to do
to get an optimal meditation experience.
But in the meantime, I'll leave you with one more
huge obstacle,
and I've literally seen people use this,
as the single biggest reason why they do not
give themself this gift of meditation.
Do you know what that reason is?
It can't be that easy.
Poof, listen to those words.
It can't be that easy.
And so the spell is cast.
I mean, come on, what do you think words are anyway?
How do you create a word?
You spell it, words are spells baby.
It can't be that easy, boom,
and that becomes your reality.
Maybe the hardest part of this whole meditation practice
and the literal miracles that can be worked in your life
by adding this practice in.
Maybe the hardest part of it is accepting
how easy it actually is.
I mean if this whole universe is expanding,
and if you,
are a part of that universe,
and if you are not only a part of this universe
but you are on the leading edge of this universe
because you have something that nothing else
that we know of has,
free-will choice, the ability to make your own decisions
independent of whatever the environment is,
seems to me that places you at
the leading edge of consciousness.
And the power that makes the seasons turn,
that same force that spins the planets on their axis
without you having to do anything about it,
that same force is working on your behalf.
Now whether you believe that or not,
test it.
Maybe suspend your disbelief
long enough to prove it for yourself.
In the next video, I'll share with you
the exact methods
that I've used for years,
to literally tap into cosmic Google.
There's no answer you can't find.
There's no puzzle you can't solve.
You can quite literally practically pierce time.
Step outside of this linear reality.
And in a very real, very practical, very repeatable way,
you can begin to experience the totality
of what you are.
I think you'll like it a lot.
But test it for yourself.
I'll see you in the next video.
