Hey guys So this company called iWOWnFit reached out to me to do a review on a smartband.
They are based China and specializes in smart wearables and health tracking which is kind
of a thing right now with all the different smartbands on the market.
I'm reviewing the i6 Pro which is one of models they offer and be sure to check them out in
the description box below.
Let's talk about the design, first glance and it looks really premium.
The bands are made of TPU which is nicely connected to the frame without sharp corners.
It also sits nicely on the wrist without any weird bending.
At the end of the band is the stainless steel buckle with their branding on it and with
the amount of holes available, this is definitely fit most wrist sizes.
The sides of the body is made of metal with chamfered edges which brings a sleek feel to it.
Since it's like the exposed part of the metal, it's bound to get scratches on it.
The frame has a solid feel and surprisingly it's pretty light at 18g.
On the back is where the heart rate sensor and charging pins are located.
It's curved so it fits more snug against the skin.
The charging cable is magnetic so it's pretty easy to take it on and off.
And it's IP67 certified so it's good against accidental splashes in my experience and don't
try to use the band in the shower or swimming.
Although the front display looks big, the 0.73 inch 128 x 88 screen occupies the centre
of the display.
I would have preferred it to be bigger to fully utilize the area.
The display is generally bright enough indoors but it's pretty dim when using it in direct sunlight.
There are 3 main gestures on the touch screen, tapping, swiping up and down,
and long press on the screen.
To wake the screen you can swipe up or raise up your hand, it works fine most of the time.
The Palming Gestures option works but the timing for it to light up doesn't seem to work for me.
Swiping up and down opens up some main menus.
The main display shows the clock, date time, weather
bluetooth connection, messages icon and battery life.
Tapping it shows the steps count, calories burnt, distance travelled and to start heart rate reading.
Messages shows the notifications that is received on the phone and it displays exactly that.
You can only tap and hold to dismiss and the maximum number of messages it can hold is 8.
The alarm in the Schedule reminder on their app also shows up here.
Schedule that is triggered by their app will be stored here but I couldn't dismiss those
on the smartband.
Functions menu consists of Find My Phone, changing the watch face
Factory Reset and Power Off.
Training is where it shows up to 4 exercises and it will track your fitness when you start it.
One thing that's nice is the Caller ID for incoming calls and you can reject the call
right from the band itself.
You will need to download the app from the App Store or Google Play to pair it to your phone.
Pairing is easy but you will need to create an account to use it.
The app has a simple to use interface with 3 main tabs.
Data tab shows information collected from the band and can be synchronized to the app
by pulling the screen down.
Activity shows the number of steps taken and calories burnt
Heart Rate shows the measurement and categorizes based on the value
and Sleep shows the sleeping data if you wear the band to bed.
To view historical data, either tap the date picker or tap the top right icon to scroll
through the past dates.
Device tab shows the current battery life and settings like customizing vibration for
different alerts, unit of measurement and toggle Auto Heart Rate.
Easy Camera is taking photos from phone using the band
and Sedentary Reminder to remind
you to get up and start exercising.
Lastly Profile tab is where you set the Activity and Weight goals and also find information
or get help from their websites and forums.
Battery life is really good.
It can easily last at least 5 - 6 days before needing a charge and it takes roughly 30 mins
to charge to full.
So far the experience has been pleasant but there are things to improve like the Palming
Gestures can be more accurate, and also brightness can be better so it's more usable outdoors.
Together with the long battery life, the i6 Pro is a great way to track fitness, receive
and read alerts without breaking the bank.
