Capitol Hill is by far one of the most
complicated neighborhoods in Seattle to try
to summarize in a short seven (10) minute
video. In part it owes its complexity
due to the diversity of the public
that it caters to that live here and visit it: young
people, college students, musicians artists,
couples, single people, a very strong
LGBTQ community. Everybody comes
together here from different backgrounds,
different nationalities. It's a true
melting pot, kind of like New York is.
It's extremely diverse and people live
together here and do so harmoniously
and this increases the richness of the of the
experience of the neighborhood. Capitol
Hill is located approximately this area:
east of i-5 and south of the 520. It is
organized around for urban nodes: Broadway,
15th Avenue, the pike/pine corridor which it shares
with First Hill and also Olive Way.
Capitol Hill also have some great parks:
Carl Anderson Park in which I'm walking
right now, it includes a big
ballpark where people can play sports.
Volunteer Park is by far the largest
park. It is dedicated to the volunteers
in the Spanish-American War and it
contains the beautiful 1906 water tower;
it contains the Seattle Asian Art Museum
and it also includes Volunteer Park
Conservatory.
Her name is Jules and she has an Instagram
account that is called flowpotion. So
check her out if you want to see more of
her beautiful dancing. One thing that
stands out about Capitol Hill is the
sheer number of restaurants. Any type of
cuisine,
any country, any type of cooking
you're going to be able to find here.
If I lived here I would have to spend eight hours a
day at the gym: Japanese, Tzar - Russian?

In order to accomodate its diverse residents, Capitol
Hill provides an infinite amount of ways to
live. As you were able to see in the video
many of the apartment buildings
were built in the 1920s and a lot of those
has been carefully preserved.
Some of those are still apartments and
others i have been converted to
condominiums or cooperatives. Quite a few
of those were built by Fred Anhalt. they
People often mistake him for having been
an architect but he was actually a builder.
He built many exquisite apartment buildings.
Some of those have been also turned into
condominiums and they are some of the
most treasured possessions of this city.
