Gender-Neutral Sizing Changes from Gray-Nicolls and Kookaburra - Duration: 2:45.
G'day guys, and welcome to Kingsgrove Sports.
Today, we're going to talk about sizing,
and more importantly, some name changes
that Gray-Nicolls and Kookaburra have come up with in their products,
that when you're coming in-store and you're looking at the products,
you might notice there's a few changes to what you would normally see.
So, for instance, this is mainly in regards to junior products, junior bats,
and obviously then, your protective.
So, for instance, Kookaburra, in their "small mens" bats, you now see that there's an "SA"
on the end of the handle -- that means "small adult."
So instead of being a "small mens" -- they've changed it to "small adult."
In Gray-Nicolls, when you're looking for your "harrow"-sized bats,
you might notice there will be a "Y" on the end of the handles --
that means it's just "youth".
When you go into your protective, and you grab a pair of Kookaburra gloves, if you're
an adult or looking for your "mens"-sized equipment, you'll now see that they say "adults."
And then in Gray-Nicolls, you'll see that the "mens" is now changed to "medium."
And that change is also down to, say -- so in Kookaburra, a "small mens" is now a "small adult,"
all your "junior" -- your "boys" size, your "small boys" sizes, things like that,
have all changed over to "junior," "small junior," "extra small junior."
The reason why the companies have done this is obviously, they want to make sure that
everybody's included in cricket.
Cricket is a game for everybody, so they want to make sure that all the female participants,
all the girls and all the women that are playing cricket don't feel excluded by going in and
having to buy their "mens" or their "small mens" or their "youth/harrow" products.
So, they've made a good change.
Of course, we know that cricket is a sport for all, we want to make sure that everybody's included.
So, when you're coming into the store, or you're looking in the new Kingsport catalogue,
which has just been released, you'll see those size changes reflected.

in a nuclear bunker
It was the very first step in this Null Stern concept
We did and the
the target of our art work
in generally is to put art in to the everyday life
That means we don't realize
the art for the art business, for the art market
or for the galleries or museums
We want to put art to a place
where you don't expect it
For the Null Stern Project
we had a very special experience
Because this installation
was done
only by the fantasy
It was not because we had the money
We wanted to show that
you can do something with out of nothing
That means we had resources
and we put our resources together
in a new way and then we said
this is the world's first zero star hotel
It was quite fun. We did it
as an art installation for 24 hours
We put press release to the media
and then it was like a little bomb
After 2, 4, 5 hours
this message of this world's first zero star hotel went through the world
In this system of the hospitality,
we said the Null Stern Hotel
means not a hotel with bad service
and
very less cost
It means the freedom and the independence
to define and redefine the luxury of a new way
And this is like a new category
Null Stern is like opposite of 5, 6, 7 Star Hotels
Daniel Charbonnier is a person
who worked for Four Seasons management in Beverly Hills
and he saw us in the media with this concept
and he called us
and with very loud voice
"You don't know what you are doing... you are artist
let me visit you and I want to be a partner of this concept"
and this is really interesting because
he came not from the art world but from the hospitality world
and he said
" 'Zero star' is the future in the hotel business
because the freedom and guest are the center and not the hotel"
and he wants to be a part of it
Then we created together
the brand Null stern only star is you
This is the brand
and he is the co- founder of this brand
and since 8~9 years we worked together
with this
partner together we developed this concept more and more further
and normally the butler
The figure butler is only part for 5 star 6 star 7 star hotels
and now he is the symbol of this bridge
between hospitality world and the concept of Null Stern "Only star is you"
This is a very important point
the social participation
Null Stern "Only star is you" means
lots of people are participating
This means the local community is the hotelier
There is no hotelier in the classical sense
The region is the hotelier
and he is one of this Butler we have
around seven people they are doing now
the check in service, they look to the guest, they make TV show
That means direct TV, you see there the old TV
This is you know the future of television
In the evening maybe ten o clock
he will give the news of the day
[ Will tell them the weather forecast for the next day ]
Or he is telling an anecdote
it's maybe, you can put it little bit higher so you will really in the picture
This is the future of television
Analogue without cable without something

It's also a statement against the digital nightmare of our society

a big chain in Europe called Null Stern hotel
and for that they wanted to pay us a lot of money
millions of Swiss francs
but the problem was they didn't understand
They didn't understand the philosophy and the value, the art value of this project
and this was the condition for the negotiation we did with them and we said
"Before we are going to be partnership,
you have to understand the philosophy of Null Stern"
and because they didn't understand
there were no partnership
and this was quite funny
because who is going to reject millions
This can only be an artist
because this is the love of the passion
The credibility and authenticity is very important for us
This was really one of the funniest moments
because we did really unusual business
The bunker version is dead and this is not the future
and then it's like a bomb then we said ok
the new strategy is the zero real estate
That means
we make the country version without walls and roof
that is why we are here
and the beauty is that the hills and mountains became the hotel room
This is the room
and the landscape is the wall paper
The happening, the adventure, the nature, the freedom,
the contact to the people, to the Null Stern butler
I think they expect also themselves in other situations
They can be surprised of themselves
because this is an unusual situation you have to act in other way
I think it's like an escape of your everyday life
It's a back stage, I would say it's a back stage situation of the normal everyday life
You can have as an experience
and this experience I think is the expectation of the guest of Null Stern
but not only, I think Null Stern has an image now
It's also statement to be here
We always use resources
existing resources
For example this double bed were installed in the 70s in a four star hotel, near from Zurich
and 10 years ago
we put it out and we installed it in the bunker
This is an original bed from the first bunker version we did with Null Stern
We used specific point from the hospitality luxury world
and this mix is very fascinating
because we bring the whole system upside down
This is the next step we want to make
the beds in different regions in Switzerland
and at the end
the Switzerland is the imaginary building of the Null Stern concept
and the landscape, the wall paper, the architecture of the Null Stern hotel
We are open, we can do it anywhere
