We want to talk about a couple of things. We are going to talk quickly about

stability, We're gonna talk about some stuff that you guys are finding

in the game that is super interesting.

We're gonna then talk quickly about the update

coming out soon. So starting out with stability...

We've been working hard, 24/7, engineers to the bone,

making sure that we get as many bugs fixed as fast as possible.

We've been able to get the game more stable for all platforms.

We've been focusing on everything. I know sometimes those updates

will come out all at the same time. We've just been working so fast trying to get out

to every single player as fast as we can. We are able to improve...

...it crashes about half as often.

Over half as often as it used to, people are still crashing out there...

We're going to continue to work on it.

But along with that, we've been finding a lot of those crashes

because there's over a million players out there. - - DARREN: Yeah, I heard there's a lot

DARREN: ... a lot of people in the game right now. - - ZAK: Oh man, it's amazing.

I just cannot even fathom how many people that is...

ZAK: along with that...

DARREN: Yeah, I mean, two things I'll say before you get into the other things...

We're doing these videos for everybody so we can reach more of you.

We realize there so many people... our community used to be super small and now it has grown so big.

We're gonna try these new methods of getting a hold of people

and talking to you guys, but it also comes with a bunch of people running

through the game. - - ZAK: Exploits.

DARREN: Those are some bugs there. People are finding some interesting things with the game.

ZAK: Some incredibly creative ways to ensure that, at the very least,

I get a chance to run around with a rocket launcher a lot longer than I was supposed to.

DARREN: Why are you trying to break the game, Zak. - - ZAK: I'm not! I'm just copying

what I see. Thank you guys for finding those issues. We actually really appreciate it.

We appreciate when you guys send us that feedback when you find those things.

If you could send them to us instead of posting them, that would be good.

We do fix these things as fast as we can. Along with that we need to

also balance the game.

DARREN: The reason we go through this iteration is

we are trying to get a sense of how fast people are going, how tough the content is.

That obviously influences the amount of rewards. We want to give more rewards to people

and we are trying to get a sense of how that's working out. We get a bunch of this anonymous data

that theres people moving super fast through the game and then we start investigating....

exploits are creeping in, some abilities aren't working the way we intended, or they are finding

interesting ways to apply them... so we are going to be correcting them...

but the reason why we go back to do that is that Zak usually says

"It's fair." so all the classes are fun and balanced and they all are

reasonably within the same power level. So we are going to be making some adjustments to that, but ultimately

the only reason why we're doing that is so we can balance the rewards

so that everybody can get the right thing, and it's for the majority of the people.

ZAK: It's all about making sure you guys get great rewards,

so as we balance those classes, expect some changes

over the next, well, actually forever. - - DARREN: We'll continue to iterate.

ZAK: We'll make sure it's fair for everybody and their playstyle. - - DARREN: Presents are coming though.

ZAK: Talking about presents, a 29...

DARREN: We have an update. - - ZAK: Survive the Storm is coming!

The survival mode that we talked about a little bit last time. It's gonna be the hard

iron-man, grind, it's gonna be awesome!

It's going to have some amazing rewards, four hours of play, going to get some amazing stuff....

There's definitely some shorter versions of that.

DARREN: 3-14 game days.

There's a range of how much you want to play,

and the rewards will be commensurate with the amount of time you put in.

ZAK: Along with that, we're gonna have some storms rolling in...

through Stonewood, Plankerton, Canny...

Twine, the storm systems are coming in

along with them, they create some properties...

DARREN: Yeah, they basically create modifiers for the creatures.

Storm systems are unique and they add properties like

Enrage on the creatures, which makes them deal more damage when they are low health,

or they explode... there are also positive effects that happen to players as well.

They may augment the Soldier class, you'll be more effective with those classes

and that will rotate around different classes.

and certain weapon types.

We are going to experiment with a bunch of those properties...

and, of course, you get more rewards for trying out these things as well.

ZAK: New content, as well, which we can talk about next week.

DARREN: Next week we will have a ton of new content. I don't think we have time to go through that content.

ZAK: Not nearly enough. I just want to say thank you again,

overwhelmed and stressed and kind of like a failure but participating in her

challenge definitely got me re-inspired and excited for my business again so I

that I found when I was looking for an accountability partner in Reina's

challenge so Janet of Janet Gwen designs and I have been co-working together for

a couple weeks now so when we go work together not only are we able to bounce

might be working in our business and what might not and how we should focus

on it to make it better so every Monday Wednesday and Friday

Janet and I held each other accountable for certain goals we check in on a Skype

call we make sure we completed our goals if we did it how can we help each other

get to that goal so then we set a goal that we want to accomplish in the next

hour we're on the phone and then we co work together we basically put Skype on

mute and start working not only are we completing our own tasks but we're at

being held accountable by one another so some of the things that we work on

during that co hour could be something that you really don't want to complete

or you've been putting on the back burner because you're not really

motivated to do it so whether it's responding to emails scheduling social

media whatever is something you've been putting off we set it as a goal to

complete in that hour then we check back in and make sure we completed it then we

set our goal for the next time till we see each other again and this has been

game-changing in my business I've gotten so much done in a couple weeks that

we've worked together and I really have a clear strategy of where what my

business ago just by working with Janet one-on-one for the past couple weeks and

also a side note about Janet she designs these amazing marbled laptop cases I pad

cases and iPhone cases so if you're looking for some way to jazz up your

Wonder where the magic of VOLTA's projections come from? Gentilhomme Interview | Cirque du Soleil - Duration: 4:53.

My name is Thibault Duvernay.

I'm an interactive video designer on the project VOLTA.

Welcome to my studio, Gentilhomme.

For me, what's really important in a project like VOLTA

is that you forget about the technology.

I really want to be able to create emotions, feelings

that will support the story being told by the Director and the Director of Creation—

as if by magic.

Specifically, we work with film, computer-generated effects, 3D,

things that are generative—that is, interactive—that will react to the music,

that will be organic and that will never be the same

from one show to the next.

You could say that the show is split into several different parts.

We have content that we've filmed using vintage lenses from the '70s,

really like how you would make a movie.

We've also worked with a lot of computer-generated effects,

but always trying to get something real—with a very photo-realistic quality—

and having a very very clear thread through the design

to be sure that it all fits well together

and, especially, into the story of the show.

When we undertake a multimedia project like this one,

we roll it out in four phases.

We start with the concept,

which involves trying to work at a pretty high level

without worrying too much about how we're going to execute it—

really coming up with big ideas

based on Bastien's script and what Jean is looking for,

but also what the other creators are looking for,

whether it's acrobatics, music,

choreography or set design.

Then we move on to design.

In the design phase, we create mood boards, colour scripts.

We really try to set the tone for each scene

and make the progression of each act coherent.

We also start developing our interactive tools, our production tools,

do research and development,

and really begin equipping ourselves for the production phase, which comes next.

In production, we've already done our storyboards and our mock-ups;

we know exactly where we're going.

We start prototyping things, then we start filming, assembling images—

really putting each number together.

Once production is finished, we go on to integration.

Now we get into the big top.

We really want to make sure that everything we've done so far

will integrate well into the big top environment and the tour context,

and also make any necessary adjustments before the premiere.

Here we're with Gage, our creative coder—

he's the one who developed the whole lighting system for the big top.

Now we're in the interface, which makes it possible to take audio react with the drum;

we're connected to the kick, the snare.

We can also add vocals, which animate the lights throughout the big top,

volumetrically mapping with the lights in 3D.

So we can see the whole system that's used to make the cues for each scene;

we take input from the band,

we can change colours and design effects in real time.

This is a tool we developed specially for the show,

which has really made it possible

to bring the surrounding lighting effects to our level.

We're with Daniel Iregi,

who's working on the system that manages the cameras.

This system makes it possible to control all the show's interactive cameras

and integrate them into the audiovisual system that's used

for the Quid Pro Quo TV show or Quid Pro Quo 1000.

It also serves as a show control for the whole interactive part.

So we have a camera module that can be used to control all our cameras

and manage cues,

and another module that is connected to the Cool-Lux ,

which actually manages the entire show.

The hardest part of a project like this is really maintaining very high quality

while remaining flexible and responsive in order to make frequent changes

to follow the show's human and musical development.

It's a huge challenge to integrate multimedia

on such a scale under the big top,

by the very nature of the location;

but it's really a challenge we wanted to take on.

We said, "Okay, it is actually possible to make it interactive;

we can have big video systems

and we can make lights that are controlled by an interactive system

that will also react to the music."

So we really took a gamble given all the challenges involved,

but I think the results will really pay off.

Fujifilm X-Pro 2 :: MIRRORLESS RANGEFINDER CAMERA - Duration: 11:06.

what is up everybody welcome back to the show

I have a few things that I want to share with you today these were sent to me by

my friends over at B&H photo this is the Fujifilm x pro 2 with the 23mm

f/2 lens and then they also sent me the 16mm f/1.4 lens and

oh my god the couple of days that I've had to shoot with these I just been blown

away these are so amazing and if you watch the show you know I'm a little

newer to the Fuji game and I've been really impressed so far and I guess it

was a couple weeks ago B&H sent me the x-t2 to check out and it did a video on

that and one of the things that just impresses me more than anything well

there's a lot that impresses me about these but the image quality is amazing

but also the thought that goes into the design and the functionality and how

easy these are to use yes they do have a very retro feel to them but everything

makes sense if it fits the style of photography that you like to shoot and

if your a Fuji owner you know exactly what I'm talking about but after I checked

out the XT 2 and I'm going to do a big review on that I thought it would be

only fair to also check out the X Pro 2 and this is a very different kind of

camera - it's also got kind of a retro design - it's a little bit different

layout with the way the dials are set and we're going to dig down and check it

fujifilm are doing some really impressive things in terms of their

approach to camera design and essentially they're taking the

possibilities that we have with mirrorless technology and then putting

it into a package that people are somewhat already familiar with so for

instance with the X t2 it really mimics what you would find on

an old film SLR of course there's no film you're using an electronic

viewfinder there's no mirror but it's more of an approach to using dials and

knobs and buttons to get at what you need to do rather than dealing with menus and

I think they did that really nicely on the X t2 now the X Pro 2 has a different

approach in that they've taken mirrorless technology and applied it to

what is possible with a rangefinder and this is where this camera gets extremely

unique and really interesting and I want to talk a little bit about that but I

also want to talk about the dial layout here because it is a little bit

different than what you see on the XT 2 now like the XT 2 gone is P mode shutter

priority aperture priority manual all that stuff everything is sort of manual

but you'll notice that all of your exposure function dials for instance the

aperture collar has this little "A" on it and so when you set those to "A" you're

going to be in automatic so when they're all three set to a you're essentially in

what used to be P mode on a traditional DSLR - does that makes sense and when you take

that out then you have taken over manual control of that particular exposure

function and then when you take all three out you're in full manual modes so

it's really intuitive and very easy to use and it makes you wonder why we have

priority modes anyway when something like this is

possible but you have aperture control on the ring of the lens and then on the

top of the camera you kind of have two dials in one and this dial is showing

you the shutter speed but in the little window there you're seeing there's

several modes of automatic that you can do with ISO but you can also lift up

this outer ring and turn that to display the ISO settings that you might want to

use and so that's essentially how the camera works in addition to that you

have an exposure compensation dial and that's pretty much it and I love this

layout because it's so simple it's so easy to use if you do want to dig in and

get really specific with auto focus points and stuff like that there's a

little joystick controller that you can use with your thumb that this is similar

to what you find on the XT 2 as well and everything is intuitive and it's so easy

to use and if your a Fuji owner you know exactly what I'm talking about now I do

want to talk about the range finder for a second because that's where this gets

particularly interesting now if you're not familiar with a rangefinder camera I

want to take a second and explain what a rangefinder is so this here is an older

camera but this is a rangefinder style camera this is a Fujica GW690

and this is a medium format camera but it used a rangefinder for its focus

system now a rangefinder design came about pretty early on in photography because

photographers needed a way when they were focusing this is before we had

technology using a mirror to be able to view through the lens we needed

technology that would allow us to focus on something and know what that distance

was and so that's why range finders became popular on cameras and essentially what

you have here and you can see it on the top here you have your main viewfinder

and that's basically an optical viewfinder so you're not looking through

the lens you were just looking through that viewfinder and then there's a

second viewport right here that's a lot smaller and it's right over the lens and

when you actually look through the viewfinder and I'll zoom in so we can we

can see what this looks like basically what you're seeing is an

optical illusion of sorts of two images being displayed on top of one another so

if I cover up the main viewfinder lens you're going to see a small portion of

the image in the middle of the picture here and that's essentially what you're

getting through this secondary viewport here right over the lens and so when I

uncover this you're going to see and I hope the video can pick this up two

images in the center there that lay on top of one another now to get into focus

what happens is essentially there is a mirror in here that is throwing that

image over on top of the other one but the mirror is going to move it's coupled

to the focus ring so when I start to focus this essentially what you're going

to do is get these two images to sync up on top of one another and you can think

of that little centered piece of light in there that you're using to sync

this as kind of your focus point I guess if you will it's a bit of a focus zone

so you would put whatever you want to be in focus on that focus up and then

recompose the shot and that's essentially how rangefinders worked and

these became very popular really in the 1930s 40s and 50s particularly with

photojournalists - people like Eugene Smith, Henri Cartier-Bresson - they all used rangefinders

and preferred those there were a number reasons why they were quick and

easy to use and they weren't as noisy as SLR cameras they didn't have the mirror

slapping up-and-down and so if you needed to be discreet and you were doing

photojournalism or even street photography and you wanted to just kind

of fade out and not be heard this was an excellent choice to go through the other

thing too because there's no mirror and there's no shutter curtain there's a lot

of these cameras this one for instance you can kind of see it on here if I get the

light right - it has a leaf shutter on there so it does not work like a shutter

curtain and it allows you to do faster flash sync there's a lot of benefits to

that now there are several downsides to range finders as well first of all is

parallax - the viewfinder is not in the same plane

of view as the lens here so this doesn't matter so much when you're shooting at a

distance but when you're doing stuff up in fact close up in fact this camera it

doesn't have a very close - it's a 1 meter is as close you can get to anything so

it doesn't focus in very close but if you were to get closer than 1 meter

you're going to have what you call parallax issues where you're composing

something but that's not what the lens is seeing and so it's not going to line

up and this is interesting because when you apply mirrorless technology to

something like this everything changes so the X Pro 2 essentially has three

different modes that you can run this viewfinder in and this is where it gets

really interesting the first one is just as an optical viewfinder so you're just

looking through the viewfinder but what's interesting is they're able to

project information that is helpful for you as a photographer in composing your

pictures so for instance when you half press the shutter release and the

autofocus kicks in it's going to give you the little green squares showing you

what's in focus it's going to give you all of your settings information as to

what you've set the camera at and this is where it really gets interesting now

if you don't like that and it's a little too old-school for you you can flip this

over by using this little dial on the front that actually it's kind of funny

because on the old film SLRs they had these but they usually operated the

self-timer but anyway when you click this over to my right or your

left you're going to flip this over into just basically an electronic viewfinder

so this would be what you see on the XT 2 this is an EVF it is completely

replaced the optical viewfinder and you see all the information on there and it

acts sort of like an SLR because you're viewing what's happening through the

lens although there's no mirror it's done electronically and then the third

mode is really interesting too if you go back to the optical viewfinder and you

switch the focus over to manual so I'm going to switch my focus over to manual

now when I switch that dial the left or your right what it's going to do is it's

going to go into this manual focus viewfinder mode and much like the

old-school viewfinder where you had that superimposed image it's going to give

you that superimposed image and you're going to see that on the

lower right hand side of the screen and so this ends up being a very high-tech

version of a view finder the other thing that's very cool is because of the

parallax issues you're also going to see framing lines and this is important if

you change your lens out if you use a different focal length the framing is

going to change because the viewfinder is just kind of giving you everything

it's not showing you where you're cropping and so these lines will appear

over and they also move when you turn the dial to manually focus to readjust

for that parallax correction that needs to be done and I think this is really

interesting now this is a slow way of shooting and it may be not to your

liking there are other problems that you have - for instance I have noticed that

support on the 16mm lens is not as nice as it is on the 23 for

instance I don't get the frame lines you do have a way of parallax correction

because that center thing will change and shows you but the other problem with

that is that lens is also huge so it starts blocking your view in the

viewfinder so this style of shooting may not be for everybody but it certainly

was for a number of photographers for a number of years and people who are

really into range finders really love that setup this was used on all the

Leica cameras Canon and Nikon early on made rangefinders you know all the

photojournalists like I mentioned and so it's really interesting to be able to

do that and mentally it's just a different approach and so this is

something that my first impressions are I'm really impressed with the technology

on this followed by I don't know if this is actually quick enough to use or

practical enough to use so that's one of the things I'll be looking for over the

next month but anyway that is basically more or less what you're looking at with

X Pro 2 and I think it's really unique really interesting and I want to

prepare a full review on both this and the XT 2 and so if there's any questions

that you guys have or anything that you want me to experiment with or cover in

here please leave them in the comments but I would love to know what you think

there are a lot of Fuji owners who are just rabid about these cameras and I can

see why they really are amazing everything is easy to use the image

quality is incredible the whole thing you can do with the picture profiles

that mimic film emulsions is amazing and I want to dig into all those things over
