TERRI: You may be on the verge of giving up. You may have even
said, "I can't take anymore." Well, I believe you are watching
by divine appointment. I have an encouraging word for you that I
believe you're going to pull your head up, pull your
shoulders back, and get your fight back.
(Music)
TERRI: Hey. I'm Terri Savelle Foy, and you're watching Live
Your Dreams. I pray that as you invest in yourself today, you're
captivated and you're catapulted to live your dreams. I want to
talk to you about what to do when you're about to give up, to
give up on a dream. In fact, God never intended for you to just
settle, to just park somewhere and give up. I heard somebody
say that life is a lot like wrestling a gorilla. You don't
quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla's tired. Well,
Satan would love for us to just quit somewhere, to give up along
the way, to go backwards, but our job is to outlast the enemy.
I know you have a dream on the inside of you. It could be a
dream to get out of debt, to lose weight, to see a family
member born again or maybe even a marriage restored, or even to
get a better job, a better car, a better house. Whatever it is,
God said in His word, "No good thing will He withhold from
you." God wants you to pursue and to attain every dream that
He's put in your heart. In fact, He also said in Hebrews 13:5 ...
Listen to this. It says, "For God Himself has said, 'I will
not, in any way, fail you nor give you up nor leave you
without support.'" Then it says, "'I will not, I will not, I will
not, in any degree, leave you helpless nor forsake nor relax
my hold on you.'" Those are some good words to hang on to,
especially when you're on the verge of wanting to just give up
and quit. Declare those out loud. And I want to talk to you
today about getting a new perspective about your future.
In fact, I heard someone describe it like this: imagine
going to the movie theater to see an exciting drama, an
adventure movie, and let's say you get there like 10 minutes
before the earlier showing has ended. Now, instead of waiting
in the lobby, you go inside the theater and you watch the last
10 minutes of the film you're about to go see. You see how the
entire plot unfolds. You see how everything turns out. Well, then
when the next showing starts, you go back in. You sit through
the entire movie. But instead of being on the edge of your seat,
nervous, anxious, concerned, you just watch the details. You're
looking at their costumes. You're looking at the camera
angles. You're using your Spotify, getting the music.
You're trying to think of other movies you've seen that actor
in. You're not nervous at all. You're calm. You're relaxed.
You're just taking time to enjoy the film. Well, you already know
how it's going to end, so you're not the least bit nervous. Well,
that's exactly how you need to act about your future. If you
really trust God that He's in control and He's the one who
said, "No good thing will He withhold from you," he's the one
who said that He works all things together for your good,
then you can rest in faith that it's going to be okay. It's
going to be all right. God's got you. But I also believe there
are some action steps that we can take while we're waiting. In
fact, there's another scripture I need to mention in
Ecclesiastes 5:3. This is what it says, "A dream comes about
with much business and painful effort." I don't like that
scripture, but I have to tell you. You have to fight for your
dreams. You have to know that Satan doesn't just roll over and
play dead because you have a dream. He also has a dream for
our lives. It's to kill, steal, and destroy it. If you're going
to fulfill a destiny, you have to make up your mind that you're
not going to give up no matter how many times you get knocked
down, no matter how hopeless things look, or how long it's
taking. You must be determined. In fact, I think the people who
succeed many times are not the most talented, the most
beautiful, the most educated. They're the most determined. Of
course, in life, there's always going to be things coming
against us always. But if you're going to have God's best in your
life, you have to have a fighter's attitude. You have to
fight for your dreams. In fact, I want to share a few things
with you that I have to do to fight for my dreams. A couple
years ago, when all hell was coming against us ... and I'm
not going to go into the whole story, but a lawsuit against my
husband's company. IRS bills out of nowhere. Diagnosed with skin
cancer all over my chest, my face. My house wouldn't sell.
I'm having to live in a hotel waiting for the house to sell.
Everything went wrong. Soon as the house did sell, my kitchen
flooded. My offices flooded. I mean, it was one thing after
another. I'm telling you ... I speak from experience ... I've
had to learn to fight. I want to teach you to fight. In fact, I
want to share with you three keys to keep you focused if
you're on the verge of giving up. Number one, the first key to
keep you focused, is you have to do something every day to keep
your dream alive. Do something every day to keep your dream
alive. I'm going to explain what I mean by that. In fact, I love
this story. You may have heard this, but it's about this couple
who lived back in the early '20s, the 1920s, and his name
was Charles Darrow. Now, when he was 20 years old, he said he set
a goal to be a millionaire, which doesn't sound like a whole
lot now, but back then, in the 1920s, this was crazy. It says
even when he and his wife Esther got married, he promised her. He
said, "Someday, we're going to be millionaires." Well, then
tragedy hit. 1929 rolled around, and the Great Depression hit.
Both Charles and Esther lost their jobs. They mortgaged their
home. They lost their car. And they used up their entire life
savings. Well, Charles was crushed. He said he sat around
the house depressed, until one day, he told his wife she just
needs to leave him. Go find someone else, because it's
obvious he's never going to reach his goal of being a
millionaire. Go find someone who can provide for you. Well, thank
goodness. While he was feeling hopeless and depressed and
distracted from his dream, she was full of hope, full of faith,
and she stayed focused on the dream no matter what. In fact,
Esther wasn't about to leave. She said to Charles, she said,
"We are going to reach our goal." But here's what she said,
"Every day, we need to do something to keep our dream
alive." Charles said, "Keep it alive? It's already dead." He
said, "We've already failed." But Esther refused to believe
it. She suggested that they take some time every night to just
talk about what they're going to do when they reach their goal of
being millionaires. Just keeping it alive by talking about it.
They began doing that each night. Well, soon Charles came
up with an idea to start creating play money. They didn't
have any real money, so they started making this play money.
Well, he and his wife pretended they would buy things, like
little houses, little hotels, and properties and buildings.
They finally turned it into a full-fledge game with a board,
dice, card, little houses and hotels. And you guessed it. I'm
sure you actually have this in your closet today. That was the
beginning of Monopoly. But listen to this. Charles's family
and friends so enjoyed the game that in 1934, they persuaded him
to approach Massachusetts game firm, The Parker Brothers.
Executives there rejected the game because they found it dull,
the action slow, and the rules hopelessly complex. Well, he
still wouldn't give up. He persevered. His wife kept
encouraging him, and he approached Wanamaker's Toy
Store. The executives there loved it. He said, "I'll take
out a loan. I'll create 5,000 of them," and the game took off.
Well, soon as it took off, Parker Brothers got more
interested. They replayed the game, but this time, they found
the game imaginative, fast-paced, and surprisingly
easy to master. The game was copyrighted in 1935, and they
sold it to Parker Brothers for $1 million. Isn't that amazing?
That's why it's so important that you see your dreams, your
vision, your goals. That's why I always encourage people to write
your dreams and goals. First of all, I didn't come up with this.
God's the one who said in Habakkuk to write the vision and
make it plain. Why? So you can run when you read it, because it
keeps you focused, committed, and driven. In fact, you may
have heard how Napoleon Hill interviewed 500 millionaires to
find a formula that made them so successful. Well, after he
interviewed all these famous people ... Thomas Edison, Henry
Ford, John D. Rockefeller, people like that ... he came
back and he said, "They all have clearly-defined, written goals."
Well, statistics say that only 3% of living Americans, or
anybody, for that matter, adults anywhere, have written goals,
but they're the most successful. I just want to challenge you
with that real quick, that success begins with a pad of
paper, a pen, and a few minutes of your time. One of the most
important keys to success is to think on paper. I don't know
what it is, but something miraculous happens between the
head and the hand when you actually write your goals down.
It's as if you're programming it into your subconscious mind. By
writing it down, do you know that it intensifies your desire
to go after that goal? You're giving yourself permission to
dream, and it also increases your belief that the goal is
even possible. I want to remind you that you need to see your
vision, but Jesus needs to see your faith. In fact, do you
remember the story about the four men who took their sick
friend to meet Jesus? When they got there, it was so crowded
they couldn't get in. It says that they climbed on top of the
house. They lowered their friend in front of Jesus. The Bible
says, "When Jesus saw their faith, He said, 'Friend, your
sins are forgiven,' and he healed the man." Well, let me
just ask you: can Jesus see your faith? Can you see your faith?
You know, that's what you're doing when you get a vision
before your eyes. You're showing Jesus, that's my faith. Well, I
love this story that Mrs. Dodie Osteen tells, how in 1981, she
was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She was only given a few
weeks to live. Well, she said her kids went together and
bought her some china that she really wanted. Well, when they
got it, they found out there were only eight pieces in stock.
They still needed two more pieces. Well, they said it could
take months for it to come in. Well, at Christmas that year,
when she opened up the box and she saw the note in there that
said, "The remaining pieces will be delivered in the Spring," she
said her first thought was, "I might not even be here." But do
you know the kids ordered that china on purpose, letting her
know that we expect you to be here when the china arrives?
They wanted her to see their faith. Months later ... Well, do
you know 30-plus years later, she's still using that china.
Well, let me just ask you: can your faith be seen? You've got
to do something to keep your dream alive. In fact, I love
this story about this town, this small town that was experiencing
a great drought. The pastor of a local church, he told everybody,
he said, "I want you to meet me tonight in the town square,
because we're going to pray over this drought and just believe
God that the rain is coming." He said, "I want you to bring an
object of your faith. I want you bring something to just show
that you're believing God." He said people brought Bibles. They
brought crosses. They wore T-shirts with Christian messages
on it, things like that. He said it was a beautiful sight. They
all came together. They joined hands. They started praying over
the drought. They said after about 10 minutes, all of a
sudden, it started raining. They started shouting and praising
God. It was amazing. But they said this one little
eight-year-old girl, the object of her faith stood out the best.
She opened up this beautiful little umbrella. What does the
Bible say? Have the faith of a little child. In other words, if
you're praying for rain, it's not complicated. Bring an
umbrella, right? Well, my point is, let Jesus see your faith.
Whatever it is, get a vision for it and keep it before your eyes.
That's one of the ways you stay focused when you're on the verge
of giving up. When we come back, I want to share
two more vital keys to help you stay focused.

TERRI: Hey. We're talking about how to stay focused
when you're on the verge of giving up. We all feel that
way. We all go through season where we feel like, "I can't
take anymore." But I want to share these keys with you
because I believe if you'll apply these, you're going to be
stronger than you've ever been before, and you're going to walk
in your dreams. The first one was to do something every day to
keep your dream alive. I recommend getting a vision and
keeping it before your eyes. The second key is to get in a growth
environment. Get in a growth environment. Do you know that
your environment can stretch you, or it can shrink you? In
fact, I've even heard that there is a certain species of fish ...
and I just happen to have it ... but you put that fish in a small
aquarium, and it'll stay small. You take that very same fish,
you release it into a large body of water, and it will grow to
its intended size. In fact, the article I was reading, it said
people are the same way. You stay in a harsh, limited
environment where people think small, they talk small, you're
going to stay small. But you get around people who believe big,
who dream big, who talk big, you're going to grow to the size
God intended you to grow. Well, you have to, on purpose, get in
a growth environment. You have to go to conferences. Go to
church. Get in connect groups. Connect with other people who
are doing more than you. In fact, John Maxwell says, "If
you're always at the head of the class, you're in the wrong
class, because the best place to learn is where others are ahead
of you." They're doing more than you. They make more than you.
They believe more than you. See, in that growth environment, get
around people who are growing. You may have heard that phrase,
"If you want to see where your life is headed, look at the list
of names in your cell phone." Why? Because you're the average
of the five people you spend the most time with. That's what Jim
Rohn said. Well, we all know, we become like those we hang out
with. It's not healthy for you to always be the smartest one in
the room, the wealthiest person at dinner, and the most
successful one in the crowd. Because when that's the case,
you're not learning. You're not growing. You're the one teaching
all the time. Get around people who earn more than you, who know
more than you, who have succeeded a little further than
you. That is one of the most effective ways to experience
personal growth. I like to say, "Get comfortable being
uncomfortable." Why? Because it means you're growing. In fact, I
love this story I heard about John Assaraf, who ... He said he
was simply a street kid who had been involved in the world of
drugs and gangs. Eventually, though, he was hired to work at
a gym in a Jewish community center across the street from
his apartment in Montreal, Canada. Well, he said, from that
seemingly simple job, his entire life was changed by the
principle that you become like the people you spend the most
time with. He said he was only earning about a $1.65 an hour.
This was a long time ago. He was also given access to the men's
health club, which was where his destiny began to materialize.
John said that he received his early education in business in
the men's sauna. This is crazy. I'll explain. He said each night
after work, for about 45 minutes, he would just sit in
the steam room and just listen. That's all he did, was just
listen and learn. He said he wanted to learn all he could
from these successful business men of success and failure. He
would just listen to their stories. He was mesmerized by
their setbacks and their successes. Just listening to
these men, he said he began to realize that everybody fails
from time to time. That his family wasn't any worse. His
family wasn't the only family facing difficulties. He just
learned that this is a part of life. You have to fight for your
dreams. These men began to teach him powerful principles of
determination and never giving up on your dreams. In fact, he
said one of them said, "No matter what the failure, try
another way. Try going up, over, around, or through, but never
give up." He said there's always a way. Well, just by hanging
out, listening to those intelligent men, John Assaraf
changed the way he saw his life, his future, his potential, his
destiny. Course, today, he's an international best-selling
author. He's grown five multimillion-dollar companies in
real estate, internet software, brain research. I mean, he's
doing great. But you might say, "Terri, I can't hang out with
successful men in a sauna." Well, you probably don't want
to, or you probably shouldn't, but here's the thing. You can
read their books, or you can listen to their audios. That's
how you start learning. In fact, I love how T.D. Jakes says,
"I ought to be able to look in your surroundings and know your
dream." He said, "What you have in your house right now should
show me where you're headed." Are the books you're reading
taking you closer to your dream? Is where you're spending your
money taking you closer to your dream? Are the seminars you're
attending taking you closer to your dream? Well, you know, you
may have heard me say how years ago, when I graduated from
college, the dumbest thing I ever said was, "I will never
study again." Because I thought, "I've paid my dues. I got my
degree. I will never pick up another book." Well, the sad
thing is, I backed up my promise. For 11 years of my
life, my life was average. Nothing grew. Nothing improved.
Everything was the same. It wasn't until I intentionally put
myself in a growth environment by making myself listen to
audios, read books, invest in my personal growth ... As I grew,
everything around me began to grow. I want to challenge you,
look for opportunities to grow, to build your faith,
to learn, to expand in your knowledge and to grow in
wisdom. Get in a growth environment. That's
something you have to do intentionally. It doesn't
just happen. You have to choose to do it. Number three:
the third way you can stay focused when you're on the verge
of giving up is you have to get your mouth in line with your
dream. Get your mouth in line with your dream. Do you know the
most powerful tool that you have is right under your nose? It's
your mouth. In fact, nothing happens until you speak it out.
You've read in the Bible where it says, "Let the redeemed say
so." See, it doesn't say, "Let the redeemed think so or believe
so or hope so." No. You have to take it a step further and start
speaking it out of your mouth. If you're going to go to the
next level, you got to start speaking about the next level.
This is what's so amazing to me. When you see this in the Word of
God, that the moment you speak faith-filled words out of your
mouth, do you know that the angels go to work to make that
happen? They go to work to open up the right doors when you
speak it out. In fact, they're on call just waiting to respond
to the words of your mouth. I heard Joel Osteen explain it
like this, and I love this. He explains Psalm 91, how ... You
know the Psalmist David. He said, "I will say of the Lord,
'He is my refuge, my fortress, my strength.'" Then the next
verse says, "'He will deliver me, protect me, cover me.'" Now
notice the connection. I will say, and He will do. I will say,
and He will do. Now, what's the opposite of that verse? I will
not say, and He will not do. I won't say anything, and He won't
do anything. That's powerful, isn't it? God is just waiting
for you to speak it out of your mouth. Speak those positive,
faith-filled declarations out of your mouth. Start saying things
like, "When we get our debts paid off. When I launch my
business. When I lose that weight." Just act as if it's
about to happen. Joyce Meyer says, "Every time you speak it
out, you believe it in a stronger way." T.D. Jakes says,
"It's not enough to see your dream. You have to speak to it."
And my favorite preacher, Jerry Savelle, says, "See it. Say it.
Seize it." It's not enough to just think about it and to pray
about it. You got to speak it out of your mouth. Well, this is
the last week for us to offer this special package. The
response has been amazing, so we're excited about this. This
is going to be The 7 Indicators You Have a Dream From God. I
don't know about you, but I wanted that assurance to know,
have I heard from God? Or am I just making this up in my head?
Well, these seven indicators are going to give you that assurance
that you don't just have a good idea, you have a God idea.
That's what I'm believing for you. As you listen to these, I
believe you're going to gain the confidence that you definitely
have the right dream. You're going to gain advantage over the
enemy. I believe you're going to say goodbye to doubt, confusion,
fear, by wondering whether or not your dream is something you
just made up or if it's definitely God inspired. Once
you get that confidence, start pouring yourself into it. Now, I
got this amazing message straight from my dad's notebook.
I stole it with his permission, but I teach from my own
experience. You are going to be so encouraged by the stories of
familiar people that you'll probably recognize, because
they've been through what you're probably going through right
now. They've had the doubts, the setbacks, the fears, but they
didn't let it stop them. I believe you're going to avoid
wasting time, wasting years pursuing the wrong dreams and
never worry again whether or not you've heard from God. So The 7
Indicators You Have a Dream From God. And then with that, we
included Fight For Your Dreams. I actually taught this in a
boxing ring at the Icing Women's Conference, and this message, I
believe, will fix the battle in your mind once and for all. You
are going to become more determined than ever to prepare
for your destiny. See, preparation time is never wasted
time. God wants you to get ready to train before you get in the
ring. Why? Because you have something the world needs. You
have a calling. You have an assignment. God needs you to
fulfill it. I share from my personal experience on how to
get ready for the dreams that are in your heart. I share real
results of the benefit of fighting for your dreams, the
secret of staying focused, of having the right people in your
corner. That's vital to your success, having the right people
in your corner. Then last, with this package, we want to give
you this free little boxing glove. This goes with our
package. This is just a reminder to keep you focused, driven,
ambitious and determined to fight for your dreams. It's a
little boxing glove. It says, "Fight for your dreams." But I
just want you to imagine getting settled in your heart once and
for all. Your dream is not just a good idea. It's a God idea.
God gave you this desire, and He wants you to go after it.
Imagine developing the mindset of a winner who trains and
prepares to succeed on purpose. You know what? You can get
started right now. You don't have to wait for the perfect
time, next month, your next birthday, the kids to grow up.
No. "Now faith is," the Bible says. If God's speaking to you
that it's time for you to get serious about your calling, your
destiny, your dreams, do it now. You're going to save years of
frustration by getting crystal clear on your vision and
resolute on your determination. This is the last week for us to
offer these two motivating messages with the free boxing
glove. It's simple to just call the number or go online to get
it sent out today. Remember, we're in this together. All of
us at TSFM, we're cheering you on to live the life Jesus died
to give you. So, let me just remind you. Don't look at all
the years you've lost. Let's look at the years you've got
left, and live your dreams. Let me just remind you ladies to
register for the Icing Women's Conference. It's coming up in
October. It's absolutely free, but you have to
register to reserve your seat and your treat. Be sure and
