Drowning Love Episode 10 A Thailand Love Story Final Episode - Duration: 13:17.

episode 10 drowning love I bumped into Joe in a bar in Bangkok told me his

story this was early 2005 sort of middle of February bumped into each other I was

getting married a few weeks later and then I was going to go to the village

where have a village ceremony later in the year for quick trip around I was going to have

my honeymoon in Phuket Patong for a couple of weeks I told Joe this anyway

he'd gone off I'm mulled over it what he told me in all the story for a few days

and thought about it and I reached out I tried

I rang Girl who used to work in my bar frozen it was my mamasan who looked after my

girls she had no contacts one of the girls who

used to work for me did have a contact in Phuket

but that person had lost their bar completely and had just sold the rights

to it to some body thought they could make a go of it

so no contact there I scratch my head I couldn't think of a way any other

contacts I had in Phuket I have the blue as fate does maybe two days before

my the registry part Bangkok for my wedding friend of mine Andy Andrew

contacted me he lived in the UK same as me long time friend and he was going to

be coming over and he said he'd try and come to my wedding at the Bangkok but he

had a condo in Phuket and he hadn't been over but his condos further up the hill

hadn't been over to check on it since the tsunami he was heading over there

for a couple of days and then try and make my wedding at this point I just saw

nothing to lose and I asked him if he had any time would he have any time

going around Patong before he came up and he said yeah he's going to be

catching it with all of his friends and trying to see how they all are

everything I asked him because could I send him a photo and I filled him in about

this tour shop and these three girls had a photo of one girl explained the story

to him and I emailed him the Photo with names and asked him if there was any

chance he could make some inquiries at least enough he a lot of friends that who

had bars and businesses and he said yes right three days later it was my wedding

and Andy came up from Phuket to the wedding we celebrated that evening and

had a few drinks around Bangkok so Great really good hadn't heard from Joe and no

contact at all and on the morning after all this getting drunk with friends and

getting married all the rest of it I was going to be heading up to the village

with my wife it's where her sister lived so I was sort of chatting away and he

stated that saying place we stayed at the same hotel and he suddenly

just out of the blue said Oh Simon I forgot I found that girl I was took back

Mai the girl from the tour shop yeah I found her you sure I said

what how you do he sort of how what is it real is it her he said well behind

second road they're building a brand new shopping complex and beside it way

back on a pedestrian area there's there's car parks behind it but way way

back there's some small shops and a little supermarket then they going to

build pedestrian area in the front and all sorts of stuff but those shops right at the back

are brand new and there was a tour shop there he said and a email cafe next

door so I went down there to use the email cafe and I poped in the tour shop

to ask if they knew this girl before I asked he said I spotted her and checked

the photo he said look iv'e took a photo of these girls in there

he showed me a photo of Mai I'd not seen a picture of Nan or Fah but there was

two other girls there don't know if that was Nan or Fah but the main picture

that was her and the picture taken to the front of the shop it was blurred I

couldn't make out the name of the shop but he got a brochure and on there it

said Mais travels and there was a phone number

and it was her the picture I looked at this picture it was her he found her

unbelievable don't know if about the other girls but Mai

was alive and well

unbelieveable I couldn't believe it he hadn't told me the Wedding right at the end before

I'm about to go he suddenly oh yeah I found her oh I had to go then it was

getting on I thanked him and made the missus new wife we were heading off to the

village well I had I had my phone no signal for the laptop or anything I got

a copy of this photo off Andy and I thought how can I tell Joe this is going

to be probably the best email he will ever have in his life and I Sat and thought about it on

that journey and I thought the best way is not with words is to send this new

photo of her with the phone number of her shop and I'll just leave it at that

that's what i did by luck fate I put photo on the phone put the phone number

of her shop and I sent it to Joe it was maybe 10 seconds after I sent it

maybe more immediately a message come back it what in all the questions and I

just said we found her there's a number ring her

absolutely unbelievable fate she was alive but I didn't know anything about

Nan or Fah a couple of days later I got an email so excited by the sounds of the

reading it he'd telephoned her and they were

reunited on the phone he was weeks away before he could get over all excited in the other

way emails and Nan and far were fine it seems that they'd shut the shop that

night they'd gone well Nan and Mai had left the shop and got up on the hill to

a bar where some of the Malaysian tourists were over they were doing some sort

of party up at a bar right on the hill a wooden bar reggae sort of bar rock

bar and Fah looked after the shop for a couple of hours and then locked it 10 ish

she'd gone up as well they were all up there late when it all happened and they

watched it all unfold but they lost their rooms this was a new shop she had opened

don't know all the details but it was such a huge thank you email to me and

his life was going to change and he said that he try and catch up with me in my

honeymoon in October later in the year i thought It was so lovely and months go bye

my wife myself we have our Thai ceremony later on it was September early

October honeymoon and I got a message whilst couple of days in from Joe and we

arranged the meeting an evening meal beach road in the middle of beach Road

that it would have been a restaurant that was there previously that he'd have

eaten and along he came with Mai I got to meet Mai it was where he just ran and

threw his arms around me and Mai gave me a sort of cuddle and shook my hand and

Mem and they sat down and told us a story that they were planning on getting

married he got his condo sorted out already new job they were going to get

married she was going to carry on working at the tour shop and Nan was going to stay

there working Fah was doing something else but still floating there going to get

married live there in Patong and that's it they were sorted we had a meal we

talked for hours at the end of the meal

Joe we all said our goodbyes Joe said to me Simon

I've got wedding present for you for everything you've done and he gave me an

envelope with some money in it as a present and it was quite a large amount

but anyway it was a lovely thought I didn't expect anything he was just so

nice to be part of putting Joe and Mai together and there it is fate

almost ripped them apart put them back together how fate steps him brought him to

my bar in the early days how it put us together in that bar in Bangkok and then

how my friend that's fate again it stepped in my battery went telling me

I'm talking too much but he did it stepped in put Joe and myself together

in the bar again in the bar in Bangkok then my friend Andy quite easily found

Mai and her shop it just was maybe covered up by her shop

was covered up by signs and things from the works going on for the shopping

center theJoel had been so close to her when he was looking for it didn't

realize but there we go drowning love true story

I've really enjoyed bringing it to you I hope you enjoyed it I will possibly with

a friend of mine be putting the full version of this which is a lot more

detail into an e-book and I'll let you know when it's out thanks so much for

watching and I'll see you again on whichever video Drowning Love bye

In Production on Getting Back with Dave Benson Phillips #3: Perv Cam - Duration: 1:38.

This is Dave Benson Phillips. A man who would give life to plants with a watering can.

Containing water.

So what you've got is a load of secret footage of a ex children's TV presenter called Dave Benson Phillips

shot secretly from a bush.

Yeah.

Well he hasn't actually agreed yet.

We call it 'Perv Cam'.

Do you want to see him on the loo?

No...

Yes. And I did.

I am Mary and I am walking into my office.

And who is he? Work experience assistant for Dave Benson Phillips.

And why does Dave Benson Phillips need a work experience assistant?

I wondered no more.

I observed his simple face and mind

I need his signature to consent to filming.

So she can make the best documentary series about him there's ever been.

Can you get for me?

That's one pound. That's two pounds. That's three pounds.

Yes. I think I can.

And we have progress from a three-pound sell-out.

Everybody knows Dave Benson Phillips!

I mean a documentary about Dave Benson Phillips I'll return later for my bag

behind that lamppost. - Let's make something that will get me an award.

Sounds good to me, fella. - Yeah this would be great exposure for you. Be yourself

Ignore the cameras. All I ask is... - Go on then... My dad's been on my back...

Yeah...?

The teacher that gave me detention is still about and... -Yeah?

Would you do my MP?

Yeah let's crank up the gunge tank. - I ready to go and I'm on the ascent.

literally I'm going upstairs.

Every documentary needs a hook. As does every coat hanger. And I know my coat hangers.

That is a coat hanger. Do you see what I mean?

The thing about niche... - Yes? Is it's niche.

Everybody knows Dave Benson Phillips. - That's Dave Benson Phillips.

Do you remember Dave Benson Phillips? - No

We need a hook. Documentaries are always contrived.

Let's get contriving. What's popular on web video platforms?

Let's play videos. Unboxing. Vloggers.

Is that a sex thing?

My team explained to me what a vlogger was and how it was not a sex thing although some vloggers have had sex.

Sometimes with each other.

Stick in a vlogger for Dave to manage. That was my hook for my metaphorical coat hanger.

It's a no from PewDiePie. - Find me somone cheaper!

Have you heard of Ryan? Hashtag Ryano Marten?

I like to go shopping. I do that myself. I like to consider myself... I'm just a normal guy.

Yeah this week I bought brown and white bread. Global.

I like your face it's good it's not the

best part of your body though.

No I like your face.

Yeah?

GIANT DAIM BAR RECIPE - Duration: 14:36.

- Hey folks it's Barry here.

Welcome to My Virgin Kitchen.

Today we're doing instructional-style giant food.

It was my plan to write the last three days off

to make Chloe here, don't worry she doesn't know about it,

a giant kinder egg.

That was my plan.

If you went to summer in the city,

I told you I was gonna do.

Unfortunately it hasn't happened

because they ordered a giant polystyrene egg from China

and I had an email saying it's gonna take weeks to arrive

so I'm still gonna do that and I might even end up

making my own egg shape.

To counter that, I wasn't gonna waste the days,

I was gonna use up my full giant food allowance.

All right?

This is the Daim bar.

I've done a homemade recipe on this before.

It used to actually be spelt normally, Dime,

but I think they made it more European

to save on packaging costs,

and there used to be an amazing advert

where they talked about an armadillo.

But with these instructional-style giant food videos,

which I'm planning on doing more of,

we're gonna go all out and make wrappers too.

So check this out

Oh yeah!

You see that?

That is a custom giant Daim bar

and I've made it roughly to the mould size that I need

so hopefully it will work

It's basically two sheets of tin foil glued together,

sprayed with something called etcher primer,

which sticks to the aluminium surface

and makes it more paintable so the paint won't peel off.

You then use acrylic paint.

This is exactly what I did.

And now James has got a new job,

I find it hard to actually even meet up with him as a friend

so I'm finding I can put more time

into putting things together like wrappers and stuff

and making these hopefully even better,

rather than rushing.

Here's a little montage of how I did it.

(upbeat music)

That's pretty cool right?

So all I did is let it dry overnight

and I've glued it together with a little bit of an opening,

like so, and we've got ourselves a giant Daim bar wrapper.

It's awesome.

I'm gonna start making loads of wrappers like this.

Look at that!

The coolest wrapper since Vanilla Ice.

(upbeat music)

Oh and incidentally, my new cookbook,

which is just there, available on Amazon worldwide,

has got five exclusive DIY giant food recipes

for you to try, so maybe check that out.

So this is the biggest baking tray I have.

It is 43, no 44 centimetres by 30 centimetres.

Okay?

This is good, it just about fits in my oven,

not I need to bake it, but it needs to fit in my fridge

and that's fine.

So first thing I'm gonna do is get some butter

and just basically grease the bottom of the tin.

Wah wah wah wah wah.

So hopefully you guys can get a hold of all the tins

and the stuff like this,

I'm gonna give you the exact measurements and recipes

so you can try this for yourself.

It'd make a pretty cool, fingers crossed,

birthday cakey thing.

Baking parchment.

Gonna let that sit in there.

Letting the butter do the hard work,

so I'll trim around the edges.

Hopefully you can see our standard size Daim bar,

which now looks minuscule compared to our main filling,

ah yeah, it's gonna be big.

So let's make the filling.

The filling is a pan, 500 grammes of butter.

It butter taste nice.

We can actually start to put it on a low flame already,

just begin to melt the butter.

It's at room temperature anyway.

This is a whole kilo, oh my god, of caster sugar,

and for now this is some golden syrup.

We're gonna need approximately eight tablespoons of this.

The only other filling that goes in there,

really gives you that dime bar texture,

is ground almonds.

So that looks really cool right now.

I'm very excited by this.

This pan is gonna get insanely hot, okay?

We need to keep stirring it, so the sugar doesn't burn

and stick to the pan.

If you keep mingling it through the butter,

it'll merge with the syrup and sugar

and it should get a nice

sort of like, caramel-ey, syrupy thing.

In short, all we need to do,

is just let this mingle together

and become one big sugary, buttery mass for now.

You can see it's starting to melt already.

Oh yes, look at this, it's like a big sloppy custard.

Loving it.

So it's all mingled together.

All we gotta do now is keep heating it and warming it.

It should bubble pretty soon.

You see that bubbling folks?

That is starting to get really hot sugar.

That's like what they used to use

in like mediaeval battles and stuff.

When they'd run out of bow and arrows,

they'd use Daim bar mix, honest.

So we'll bubble that for like five minutes.

Does look like something from Ghostbusters or something,

and to one side Homer and I, huh,

have got some ground almonds.

500 grammes, that's a lot of almonds.

If I was a, do squirrels like almonds?

I think they do.

But if I was a squirrel, I would like this.

Oh my god, huh!

All right, all right, shouldn't have taken my eye off that.

Should have taken my eye off it.

That's good, that's good.

Oh no! (laughing)

No, ah, okay, okay, we can get around this.

Give me back my lid.

Yes, the ladle has rescued the lid.

All right, we're back,

and somehow we're caramelising our ladle.

Gonna use my better spatula.

Oh please don't burn, please don't burn.

We should be okay, we should be okay.

That is why you don't take your eye off it

and do a little scene with Homer Simpson, folks.

'Cause you've all got Homer Simpson cutouts, right?

In go the almonds.

Uh.

Uh, uh.

(laughing) Oh my gosh.

Maybe do that in batches.

Okay, it should just get absorbed in there.

We'll do it gently.

There we go.

Yeah, definitely do that in batches,

I just got a bit excited.

Fantastic, so just another minute of it on the heat.

We're gonna just get all that ground almond

incorporated in there, mingled all the way through,

and it has really thickened it up,

which is good, we want it like that.

That is the filling done.

Just for reference, the scene you're about to see

is extremely dangerous, so be very careful.

Thank you.

With its younger brother looking on,

here goes the Daim mix.

Ah, let it just spread out and find its way

but what you will find is that it will kind of settle

very, very, quickly indeed.

So you need to push it to all of the corners.

(Barry humming)

Now we just kind of level it off.

I'm gonna get some oven gloves,

because that's gonna have warmed up the tin

considerably already, and then just,

(tin banging)

just drop it a couple of times.

Whoow.

So now we've got an amazing layer.

This is the bottom bit that we can put chocolate on.

This will cool down and firm up quick.

And we'll put chocolate on it, set it in the fridge.

Alright so we only need a small amount of chocolate

for the base-ey bit, which is cooling down.

In fact, it's still red hot.

I can't put hand on that right now,

but we're just breaking this up into a bowl.

Cool, let's melt it over a pan of simmering water.

Oh yeah.

Again, with this step be very careful.

Hot chocolate, you sexy thang, can be dangerous.

It's quite hot, so I'm using a tea towel

just to stop the heat.

All right, let's just try with this.

So we'll just spread it out,

using the heat from the filling as well,

because it should help, you know,

just get it in all the nooks and crannies.

Again, let's make it a little bit even.

(tin banging)

So just tapping it like that again to level it off,

and that will be our Diam bar's bottom.

Glutimus maximus Daimus.

All right, just made space for it on my fridge shelf.

Fits in there like a dream.

Put the fridge on the lowest temperature,

so let's let it firm up.

Just while that's chilling in the fridge,

Homer and I would like to let you know

about a little competition.

If you have pre-ordered or ordered my book,

if you're watching this after it's been released,

I am gonna do a competition for one lucky person in the UK.

Just the UK 'cause of travel costs.

I am gonna come to your house with a camera bloke

and cook, or lady, and cook with you.

We can do a giant food, we can do a normal recipe,

whatever you like.

All you need to do is message me on Twitter,

Instagram, Facebook or even the contact form on my website,

evidence that you have pre-ordered it

and, yes, we will have some fun indeed.

The only thing I would say,

is you need to let me put it on YouTube.

'Cause I don't want to waste my day,

and you need to be nice and give me biscuits,

and this guy donuts.

This may look like some badly bodged together

sheets of baking parchment, and two bizarre

and random tins of golden syrup,

but by adding a chopping board on top,

not only do we make a really naff bridge,

but we also create suspended area

to drip our chocolate on top.

Side note, just melted with some more chocolate to one side.

We're gonna get the bottom, out lay it flat down,

drench it, we can then use this to suspend it

and put it back in the fridge for a good old set.

All right, here we go.

So hopefully, with the greaseproof paper there,

Oh, yes!

Daim bar base, chocolate base, is resting nicely.

We're going to remove the parchment, okay?

The filling.

Oh yes.

Look at that, yes.

So hopefully this should make it relatively easy

to pour out.

Oh my god, yes.

Then what I'm going to do is just push it to the edges,

encourage it to touch the sides.

That is looking blooming stonking.

So all I'm gonna do, see these drips here,

get the spatula and just run it along the bottom there.

You'll have to do it a couple of times.

All righty.

I've gotta find one of those magicians.

We'll take the tray that we made it on.

Might as well reuse the baking parchment

to capture any bits that might fall off

and then that chopping board that we rested it,

on you just, uh, uh, sit it on there

and now I'm going to shove it in the fridge

for absolutely ages.

Okay Homer, are you ready to see the biggest Daim bar ever?

Okay, let's do it.

All right, here it is.

Just kidding.

(giggling)

Hoh, hoh, hoh, hoh, hoh.

It's set so hard, look at it.

(laughing)

That's amazing, ah.

But does it fit in the wrapper?

(laughter)

Yeah. (laughter)

Yes.

I feel like I need to do a pose with it.

(laughter)

Oh my gosh, look. (laughing)

Sorry, get together.

Look at it.

I need to hold it up better for a picture.

I think the wrapper just makes it.

I'm definitely doing wrappers going forward,

all the time now.

All right, let's not forget it's little brother down there.

Look at this scale difference,

and then we just take out our chocolate bar from the wrapper

and there it is.

Wow. (laughter)

But Boston, I know what you're thinking,

how does it taste?

Let's find out.

Now I have to wash my hands.

(giggling)

Oh, wow.

See that?

It's got that proper, like, Daim bar filling.

Look at this.

So if I just portion it up, ah.

Big Daim bar chunks.

Nom, nom, nom, nom, nom, nom, nom.

And for reference, look, it's the same, it's just wider.

(laughing)

Love it.

Oh my god.

That is just like the real thing.

It's so warm in this kitchen,

I need to get it back into the fridge, but mmm.

You know I actually really enjoyed

doing this more instructional video.

I think doing the wrapper, just for me,

just took it up a notch

and meant that I didn't have to rush.

If you do like this sort of style

of instructional giant food,

so you can ultimately make it,

that's my main idea of starting this channel.

I could probably do them every other week

'cause I could take my time with it

and we could do pretty much every chocolate bar in the world

and then some of the more larger ones,

when I can get a hold of James,

like, we can actually do them for charity

but it's getting harder to even meet up

with him socially now, but hey ho,

if you like it, do let me know.

Don't forget to subscribe for regular recipes and food fun.

Tag me in your pictures @myvirginkitchen,

if you do try, even slightly smaller, and that is it.

I will see you again next time.

Oh.

- That's really nice.

- [Barry] Do you like it?

- Mmm.

- [Barry] Hey Chloe, do you want some?

You don't?

Actually, you don't like almonds do you,

but next time daddy's gonna makes you a giant kinder egg.

All right?

Uh oh, what have I done? (laughter)

Angel Card Reading AUGUST 20-26 with Elizabeth Harper - Duration: 11:20.

Welcome I'm Elizabeth Harper and I'm here with this week's Angel Messages. So

what I'd like you to do is place one or both of your hands over your heart just like

angel wings, invite your angels to guide you to either message one, two, or three, a

message that comes from their heart to yours. Or what you can also do is move your

cursor along and when you intuitively feel inspired by your angels to stop

there's a special message for you just like that. So we're using today Doreen Virtue's

tarot cards the Angel Tarot cards I'm going to shuffle them three times and pick

three cards. I'm going to pick them like this, so see if you can intuit

where I'm picking them from. Yes, thats one. oh that one... okay that was

quick wasn't it? Alright so it seemed like we need to stick with that one, two,

three. So our first card is The Lovers look

isn't that beautiful? The Lovers Archangel Raphael. So you see

that lovely energy of green and opening up and opening the heart up opening the

heart space up. Says "Intimate relationships. Carefully weight your

decisions. Good health." Thats a good point. Archangel Raphael with all that

beautiful green energy. You know with The Lovers, The Lovers this is number six

card. Six is the color is the energy of Venus, of Aphrodite, of love. Six six six

is not the number of the devil, It is the number of the triple goddess. It's

the energy of love, the vibration of beauty of this gorgeous

connection that we have with the triplicity, Virgin Mother Crone or

Father, Son, Holy Spirit. You know there's this three vibration that's there and that

three vibration is abundance, its expansion, its luck. So with this with

this energy with the greem, I'm wearing the green, the green is expansion of the

heart, expansion of Love, expansion of choices because The Lovers card comes

with that vibration of choice because it's two energies coming together the

male and the female vibration coming together that lovely energy of love that

draws to you whatever it is your heart most desires.

Now with Archangel Raphael of course there's also healing. So what this is

saying is that there is healing coming for whatever it is your heart desires. If

you've been searching for something, seeking something, yearning for something,

then Archangel Raphael is going to help you to heal any blocks that are in the

way. Whatever it is that will bring you love, that will inspire love in your

heart. This is also saying that relationships are key for you this week.

The most important relationship of course is with yourself. I'm feeling as

well with that green energy because it's so bright isn't it? That bright green color

that there's a new beginning that's coming up for you but you need to choose

it. Are you choosing that new beginning especially this week. This is a great

week for that new beginning. I feel like you can feel it too.

Alright our second card I believe it's The Chariot it is how interesting. This is

Archangel Metatron so it's a beautiful spirituality that's coming in with The Chariot there's movement but look at that it's

black and white. So we've got that choice vibration coming up again and of course

this is the week of the Eclipse. So with that black and white vibration that's

there there's almost a sense of you're balancing the light and the shadow within

yourself. There's a lot of movement coming up for you but of course with the

chariot it's ruled by a cancer and that Cancerian energy is about coming out

from behind your shell. So with this I love those wings those beautiful wings

coming up there. There's a sense of flight and freedom but there's also a

feeling of protection because of course that Cancerian energy needs to know that

theres protection that's there but it's saying that you are willing to take this

step. You are willing to come out provided you are you know that

protection is around you, is present. Archangel Metatron is that vibration of

spirituality. So there is a sense of your spirit I feel almost as if your spirit

is yearning to take this next step, to move, to shift, transform. You want to come

out of your shell but again you are going to be protected you're okay it's

fine to do it. I feel as if you're letting go of something as well this

week. The the words on this card are "An important achievement, self-discipline

and willpower. Public recognition." What this is doing is it's focusing very much

on The Chariot being success but it's also the movement towards something and

that success is about you saying okay it's time. I can do this. I can take this

step outside of this boundary. I can take this step outside of my safe zone and go

into a place maybe that is unfamiliar but you need to know that you're

going to be okay. This is very much about seeing the maybe the gifts and the

challenges in a situation and then just going for it. Okay so our final card oh

my goodness this is really interesting this is the Hermit. Wow this is an

incredible week for all of us isn't it? These are all Major Arcana cards. The

Hermit is Archangel Raziel. Well well well so I've taken my glasses off to look

at this properly. It says "Spend time in quiet meditation

spiritual teaching, self-discovery." Now what I see here are the planets all

around this heavenly vibration that's coming up in your field and of course we

have Mercury retrograde as well that energy. 9 is to me is the vibration

of Mars again there's this movement but I feel almost as if this is about

letting go of your frustrations. Letting go of the pain, the hurt, the sadness of

grief. There's a sense of this is the end of that. This is time for you to shine a

light on your gifts, time for you to shine a light on the blessings that are

in your life. Usually this card an aspect of it is an end of a cycle before you

move into the Wheel of Fortune. So for you this week this is about tying up

some loose ends. I'm feeling as if there's going to be

some sadness that surround you. It's not going to be the same for everyone but

sadness is... it's all relative. I feel the sadness is more linked with release,

letting go, moving forward. So when I look at this I feel as if you're shining a

light on some part of your being that maybe you sort of shoved

away, put away, it's like putting something into a drawer and so you don't have to

deal with it and now there's this feeling that this week it's going to

start coming up to the surface and I feel as if whatever is coming to the

surface it was difficult for you to deal with originally and now you're ready. Now

you're in that place of peace because this is very much about peace

tranquility, serenity. You're in that place where you can deal with it and

once you face it it's like it's just not going to have any power over you anymore.

You face it and then it moves away and what's going to happen is you're looking

at it you think what was the deal with this? It really isn't that bad.

Sometimes we make a mountain out of a molehill right? This energy is coming up for

you to face and then it's just going to move on and you are going to come into

this most amazing place of power that's what I'm feeling with this. The golden

energy to me when I'm looking at this it's like your solar plexus. You're going

to be much more confident there's that self-esteem that's coming in as well and

I really feel as if you're going to be letting go of the boundaries that have

held you in this place of fear. No more! You're coming into a place of power. Okay

Learn English - Common Mistake 43 - teach / learn - with subtitles - Duration: 1:46.

Hello, and welcome back to 'One English Mistake in One Minute' where each week I

talk about, in detail, one common English mistake made by English language

learners around the world, and this is video number 43.

I don't think I tell you this enough, but I have total respect and admiration to

you for trying to improve your English. it's a very cool thing to do, and a very

smart thing to do in an increasingly globalized world. In this video, I'm going

to show you a slide, and on the slide there are two sentences: One is the

correct way that someone with English as a mother tongue would say it, the other

is the wrong way that many English language learners around the world say

it. You have to try to decide which one is correct. Do that now. Pause the

video if you have to, and after that slide I will have another slide where I

discuss the answer.

Okay, so if you got it wrong -- or if you just happened to guess right without really knowing why --

then that means you have to study this a bit more. To start you off with that

process, I've given you three sentences that you can study from: Study the

whole sentences -- you should realize the structure in the context in

the whole, not just individually -- drill them into your brain and put into

practice what you've learned through writing or speaking or both.

P. Sherwin #2 : What does Thomas Aquinas have to offer us today? - Duration: 2:00.

What does Thomas Aquinas have to offer us today?

Well, perhaps the best way to get... Well I mean, this is the... the brief answer to that question is he…

…he synthesizes the Fathers and the Scriptures and in a way that is timeless,

even if the way of expression is sometimes difficult to become accustomed to.

But I think the best way to come to that, to see his value, is by turning to

some of the philosophers from the Anglo-American tradition of Analytic Philosophy,

that, once -- through the help of Wittgenstein -- they were able to get rid of a Cartesian view of the moral life and of the acting self,

they returned to the great questions:

the question of what does it mean to live a human life; what does it mean to flourish.

And once you start asking the questions of the full integral human life:

what does it mean to live a human life,

the Medievals and the Ancients can have a role to play in that conversation,

so Aquinas brings to the table the ancient insights of Scripture,

but also a philosophical reflection about what it means to live a human life.

And he also provides, I think, a method for reflecting on Revelation,

where we begin with what is more known to try to understand by analogy what is less known,

to understand the mystery of God the Father through the experience of human fatherhood,

to try to understand the mystery of the infused virtues by reflecting on the mystery or human experience of the acquired traits of character.

So he provides a method that is always helpful, always with us.
