How Can A Director Tell A Good Script From A Bad Script? by Rhys Thomas - Duration: 1:50.

Film Courage: When you're presented with a script, how can you tell good writing versus

bad writing?

Let's say there's writing with a few more iterations which might be excellent and then

there are things where you know instinctively this just isn't going to work.

Rhys Thomas (Director of COMRADE DETECTIVE): Good question…A comedy (as well) is a very

specific thing because there are writers that are really good at jokes and they are just

really funny people but maybe sometimes just don't understand story.

So the structure…you might read something on the surface that has really good beats

but as a whole it just doesn't glue together so the thing that I tend to look for first

in any script is a sense of story.

Does this person sort of know the story that they are telling and did they understand the

structure of things and again it's a sort of subtle thing that you come to see.

And obviously is it a story that I like.

It's like anything.

There are films and scripts and what have you that are not for everybody.

So I may not enjoy a script but not because it's not good.

Maybe I'm not the person for it.

But a story is a thing that I think most writers if they can get a good handle on studying

that and understanding character and motivation and what have you that that's the sort of

foundation.

The joke writing and stuff I think if you can do that as well then you're on a good

track.

But it's really funny.

It's quite rare to see people who can kind of straddle both things.

Success Is The Result Of 1000 "Right" Decisions - Study Motivation - Duration: 7:41.

too many young men in our community continue to make bad choices and I have

to say growing up I made quite a few myself sometimes I wrote off my own

failings as just another example of the world trying to keep a black man down I

had a tendency sometimes to make excuses for me not doing the right thing but one

of the things that all of you have learned over the last four years is

there's no longer any room for excuses

I understand there's a common fraternity creed here at Morehouse excuses are

tools of being competent used to build bridges to nowhere and monuments of

nothingness but we've got no time for excuses not

because the bitter legacy of slavery and segregation have vanished entirely they

have that not because racism the discrimination no longer exists we know

those are still out there. It's just that in today's hyper-connected hyper

competitive world with millions of young people from China and India and Brazil

many of whom started with a whole lot less than all of you did all of them

entering the global workforce alongside you nobody is going to give you anything

that you have not earned. Nobody cares how tough your upbringing was. Nobody cares

if you suffered some discrimination and moreover you have to remember that

whatever you've gone through it pales in comparison to the hardships previous

generations endured and they overcame them and if they overcame them you can

overcome them too

I'm going to tell you something else. And I want to make this clear don't just listen don't just listen do

I'm not just talking so you know I'm not just talking I'm doing and I don't

want you to just listen put this information to work

make today count every day go forward get aggressive and attack whether it's on

the battlefield or on the beat in the factory or on the farm or on the

construction site or on the website in the garage or in the firehouse

don't hesitate step step forward and get after it

people don't like to look themselves in the mirror that's the hardest thing to do it's to

critique yourself rather than pointing a finger and everybody hates

change so to actually do that and say I'm wrong in a lot of areas I look at

myself in the mirror and I'm sounding wrong in a lot of areas it takes a lot

of willpower so start with self first you have a career idea in

your head or do you have a mindset about your no I mean yeah I do

my mindset is so simple I just want to get better I want to get better and I

want to work with great people it's really simple do you want to be pushed

in the directions all the time are you I don't want to be pushed I think I push

myself so that I never I have a pretty strong engine of wanting to grow so

there's no nothing although David is a good example I didn't think I could do

that role and he there was another director saying just walk with me you

know you know we're going to do another movie together in the spring where he's

it's the same thing it's it's a difficult character give yourself a

reward of some kind for practicing the new behavior each time you reward

yourself you reform and we enforce that behavior

soon you begin to associate at an unconscious level a pleasure of the

reward with the behavior you set up your own force field of positive consequences

that you unconsciously look forward to as a result of engaging in that behavior

or habit that you've decided upon a lot of it is mental you know do you want to

do something and you want it that bad you'll make sacrifices and growing up

for me as a kid I made a lot of sacrifices that I didn't seem that they

were a big deal and I don't seem there I think I don't think of them being as

being a big deal right now you know there were Saturday's or

Fridays where I'd give up going to a dance or hanging out with my friends because I'd have

workout the next day but those things that I gave up you know were things that

I wanted to to help me get to my goal and and there were times where but you

know I've been put in uncomfortable situations but I've used my mental power

and my mental strength to push through it I think that's how you you

know you can look at any of the athletes in the world

I mean Tiger the guy's a busted knee and still comes and destroys the rest of the

field you know that's the thing it's like people don't make excuses now some

of the best athletes or the greatest athletes in the world do things when

they're uncomfortable you know everybody can compete when they're feeling good

happy excited rested but it's the best people who can overcome when they're

tired sore not in the great mind or not and the best mindset I think mental

power that the greatest athletes have can push all the pain aside that's what

humans are good at we all fail we've all failed like

my parents haven't been killed my child I mean there's people who've had their children die

could you imagine, the s*** I deal

listen unfortunately or fortunately depends on how one wants to

look at it I'm a pretty optimistic guy I lost three of my four grandparents

before I was really before I knew them too before I was born in one very early

on like so it's easy for me to be happy I have my s*** in the right

order the health and well-being of my family and there's nothing even remotely

close to that not even remotely people have gotten through much

worse this is why I'm trying to recall our grandparents

and our great-grandparents people were persecuted and killed like I just

we do not have real headaches. You know what I mean? We're strong as s***. We're really f****** strong

we're just being sold that we're not because there's a lot of money a lot of

money in telling us that we're not pretty enough thin enough smart enough

good enough. F*** that, I wanna tell you you're the f****** best go do s***

Instagram Editing + Scheduling App | Preview App - Duration: 13:36.

Hey there it's Ashley Perkins! Welcome back to the best place to build income,

influence, and impact for your business or brand online. If you're new here make

sure you subscribe because I share new social media and brand strategies every

week. Growing and maintaining a successful Instagram account relies on

many strategic elements. You need to create and share quality impactful

content that's relevant to your brand and target audience, engage with your

community regularly, connect and collaborate with others in your niche,

the list goes on. When people land on your feed the goal is to have them

follow and interact with you, but in order for that to happen

people need to find value in your feed in some way. Whether that's the theme and

filters you use, the way you story-tell in your captions, the images you share, or

anything in between. So how can you be sure your Instagram feed is consistent

and desirable to your target audience? By using an Instagram editing and

scheduling tool like the Preview App. So today I'm going to share the

behind-the-scenes of my Instagram feed, how I plan, edit, and schedule posts and

grow my account using my favourite tool - the Preview App.

okay so once you've got the Preview App downloaded from the iTunes Store or

Google Play, you just want to go ahead and open it up because it's time to

start planning your feed. Now before we get started uploading any photos, editing

pictures, adding captions, or doing anything that we're going to share to

Instagram; you definitely want to click this little gear or settings feature in

the top left corner and make sure you click 'unlock all' because that's going to

unlock all of your filter packs and all of the features that we're going to be

talking about today. And if you need a little extra help

getting started the creators of Preview App have done such a great job by

creating how to get started tutorials and maintaining tips and tricks on their

blog regularly and those are available to you right there if you ever need help

or just want to check them out. Here you'll see the home feed of Preview with

any posts that you've either edited and still need to add captions to and

schedule for the week or you may need to edit them and get them set up completely

from start to finish. You'll also from time-to-time see any of

your previous posts so you can also coordinate your new posts with how they

look inside of your feed that you've already planned. So first and foremost

let's go over how to add a new post. When you click the plus sign in the top right

corner you'll see that you have the option to add a photo or video you've

already taken, you can repost a photo from your own feed or somebody else's,

you can take a video organically from within the preview app as well as a

photo, and you can also upload multiple photos to create a carousel or album. If

you have your photos stored in iCloud you can also select other and you'll see

there that iCloud Drive is an uploading feature. I'm going to go ahead and upload

a photo directly from my camera roll that I've already taken and that's this

one right here. So you can see that I've selected it because it's just a

little bit transparent there, and we're going to select the colour wheel in the

bottom navigation bar so we can start editing our photo. So the first time you

do this you'll actually be taken to Preview's filter packs. The filter packs

are what is going to determine the theme of your feed, and that's the general overlay

of colours and visuals that you include in your theme. And these are filters that

you should be applying to each and every single one of your photos to create and

maintain a cohesive and appealing feed. So first and foremost you really need to

consider the vibe that your feed is giving off or the vibe you want it to

give off. Is it something a little darker and moodier like fall filters that have

sort of orange and yellow undertones? Or are you like me and you love a good

clean white feed? Regardless of what your theme is Preview has a variety of filter

packs ready to go for you and they're also constantly updating them and

creating new ones regularly so you can play around mix filters and create a

beautiful Instagram feed that's completely and 100% unique just like you.

So like I said the filter pack I use is white II DD and the one I use is DD1

which you can see right here. So you see just there the original photo, which yes

has potential, but it needs to be a lot brighter. This was just taken with my

iPhone so I've got a lot of editing to do before it's ready for my feed. So I'm

going to go ahead and select the filter that I use which is DD1 and down here

on the lower navigation you'll see that you have the ability to control the

intensity of the filter, and 10 is a little too high for me. I'm finding that

I'm losing a little bit of the details between the makeup and the sun hat in

the background, so I'm just going to bring it down a little bit. So I really

like the look of number 8 there so I'm going to go ahead and leave that as is,

but before I click save I'm going to make a few other edits to this photo. In

the same spot at the top where you found the filter pack option you'll also see

the option to do further editing with these level bars. Here is where you can

adjust any crop, orientation, the sharpness of your photo, you can add

effects like blurs, and text, and vignettes, you can also brighten, whiten

and remove any red eye if you are a portrait photographer as

well. What I like to do is just adjust the crop to a square crop because as we

know that is what Instagram is all about so I am going to adjust it like so and

just select apply. I'd also like to enhance my photo to be high definition

quality you can really read the brand of the palette and the other makeup in the

photo and it just makes the whites differentiate from one another. Now that

I'm all done with these edit I'm just going to select done and I'm really

happy with the way that this photo looks compared to when I originally uploaded

it which you can see here. That was the original and here's our current so now

I'm just going to go ahead and click save, so as you can see this photo is

ready to go and can now be shared in my feed.

So before you share a photo to your feed you obviously need to add a caption, so

to do that just select the photo that you want to add a caption to and in the

same spot where you want to edit your photo you want to select the message

bubble or chat bubble or whatever you'd like to call that in the bottom

navigation. You can see here that I've already put a caption in here but this

is exactly where you'd want to type it and I've also added my hashtags. Preview

sort of forces you into adding the hashtags you want to use into your

caption which is totally fine. There are rumours that Instagram has this

preference of putting your hashtags in the first comment of a post instead of

in the actual post itself, but truly as long as they are on your post somewhere

it doesn't matter. My only recommendation is to put some space between your

caption and the hashtags themselves as you can see I've done here. I've got

about 10 periods you can use anything you want really between dashes, emojis,

and other symbols that you can find online. Just create some space there and

then you've got room for 30 hashtags below that. I also recommend that you

create and rotate through a few different hashtag groups regularly just

to keep Instagram happy and to keep your content being found by new people. So

to create a hashtag group you can either type your 30 hashtags into the caption

and then simply select the plus button down here, name this whatever you'd like,

and then click OK to save it as a hashtag group. So that way anytime you

come in here to do a post when you're done writing your post and you've

created some space all you simply have to do is select one of your created

hashtag groups to include. If you need some help finding hashtags Preview has

a great tool for that as well. Whether you're an artist, a blogger, a business

babe, they've really got a hashtag group that covers any industry and niche. So it

could be some great inspiration for future hashtag groups for you in there

all you've got to do is just search your niche like 'food' and you can see there's

a variety of hashtags in there ready for you to use. Okay so now that your post is

ready to schedule all you have to do is simply turn on schedule post if this is

the one that you want to share, click confirm, and done. Now if you ever want a

different view or preview of your upcoming scheduled posts you can simply

just click this little calendar in the top left corner and see the posts that

you have coming up scheduled for the day the week and month. If you're like me and

you manage multiple Instagram accounts, you can also add them by simply doing

what you would do within the Instagram app and just clicking add an Instagram

gallery or an entirely new gallery on its own if you just wanted to work on

the theme or create some additional filters. Okay so now that you know how to

upload your photos or any media that you want to use in your feed, edit them, add

captions, find and use hashtag groups, as well as see your schedule at a glance,

let's dive into Preview App's insights. You can access your insights by clicking

this little bar graph in the top right corner, and here is where you'll get an

overview of your Instagram account and how it's performed over the last 7 days.

Your overview covers photos from how many posts you shared in 7

days. It will break down your average likes and comments and will also do the

same for your video content as well. If you scroll down you can see your

engagement rate by day and features that will allow you to optimize when you post

and engage with your audience online. This feature has got to be one of my

favourites because it saves you from constantly feeling the need to be on

your phone 24/7 engaging with your Instagram community or wondering what

time is best to post or engage with your audience. If you've got a busy day ahead

you'll know your best time to post so you can schedule your content for that

time as well as a time to hop on and spend some time engaging with your

audience. You'll also get an overview of your top hashtags and your top hashtag

groups, and if you ever want to dive into these insights a little bit more all you

ever have to do is click see more. So here you can see your average total

posts from the last week as well as your likes, comments and engagement when you

go over to your month preview you'll see your most liked photo and most commented

on photo and another breakdown of your average engagement for each. You can

scroll through months of the year to get a better overview depending on how long

you've been using preview using the see more feature and the best times to post

is also a really great way to find your second and third best times to not only

interact with your audience but also to post as well. But given that preview

gives you the ability to schedule your posts in advance it shouldn't be too

hard to schedule your posts for the best time to post, it's more about finding the

second and third best times to interact with your audience so that if you can't

make it at that time one day you know that you've got a couple other windows

where your audience is most active. And finally you can also spy secretly

on other people in your niche and your audience as well on Instagram using

Preview's spy feature, so let's take a look at one of my favourite clients. So

here we get an overview of whoever you're taking a look at online and this

will look exactly the same as your insights feature on Preview. You'll get

to see the amount of photos this user has posted in the past

week, their average likes, comments, and other engagement, as well as their top

hashtags, and best times for posting, and user interaction. You can also in the top

left corner here just bookmark that spy search for future reference so you can

easily go back and check on people that you not only engage with but compete

with online regularly. Do you have a favourite Instagram tool? I'd love if you

shared it with me in the comments, and if you're interested in editing and

scheduling your Instagram feed just like I do, click the link below this video to

Homemade Pizza! B(R)OIL LA - S02E05 - Duration: 7:43.

What's cookin' guys, welcome back to the channel. My name is Jay and today I'm

going to be showing you how to make something that I am super stoked about,

homemade pizza! If you've been with us before, welcome back. But if you're new

here, and if you need food to survive, think about clicking that subscribe

button for more recipe videos and cooking tips. My name is Jay and this is

B(R)OIL LA.

Now we were actually planning on doing a pizza episode later on in the

season, but it was actually suggested by a viewer so thank you so much for that

suggestion and keep them coming. So the first thing we need to get started on is

our dough for the pizza. In the bowl of my stand mixer I already have 1 cup of

warm water and to that I'm going to add one pack of dry active yeast along with

2 teaspoons of granulated sugar. We're going to give it a quick mix and then

let this sit for about 10 to 15 minutes until the yeast eats the sugar and it

gets nice and foamy. So our yeast has foamed up so at this point I'm going to add 1/2

cup of olive oil

along with two and a half cups of double zero Italian flour, and two teaspoons of

salt. We're then going to add the paddle attachment to our mixer and then mix

this on low for about three to four minutes until combined, you might need

to scrape the sides of the bowl to get any dough loose. All right so you should be

able to tell when the dough comes together because the whole thing is

going to move as a giant ball. So I'm going to stop the mixer and then I'm

going to flour our surface and then just take our dough out and we're going to

knead it for a couple minutes until it comes together just a little more. So as

you're kneading this it should actually feel like it's getting a lot tighter

which is a good thing, that means that the gluten is building up inside the

dough which will give us a more chewier result.

All right so once our dough has come together I'm actually going to take our

mixing bowl from the stand mixer and we're going to line this with olive oil,

and then put our dough back in the bowl with a little more olive oil on top and

then we're going to cover this and let it proof for about an hour, it should

almost double in size. All right so our dough has proofed for an hour so I'm just

going to punch it to get rid of any extra air and then I'm going to put it

on our board and I'm going to cut this into quarters and then knead each

quarter for a couple seconds then cover these again and let them proof

overnight. Now I know it might seem crazy but proofing them overnight does

actually make a big difference. So while our dough is proofing we're actually

going to get started on our pizza sauce. So to a sauce pan over medium heat I'm

going to add about a tablespoon of cooking oil along with a tablespoon or

two of minced shallot and two cloves of sliced garlic. So after about a minute or

so we're going to be adding one 28-ounce can of pureed tomatoes along with one

teaspoon of dried oregano, 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes, a tablespoon of

sugar, and a couple pinches of salt.

Once this gets up to a boil we're going to reduce the heat and simmer for about

30 minutes. So I'm going to actually be cooking our pizza in this, my new toy, the

Pizzeria Pronto Stovetop Pizza Oven. Now they didn't sponsor this video in any

way, but I thought I might give it a try and let you know how it works. So while

we're prepping our pizzas I'm going to have this preheating over the highest

stove setting. So after our dough has proofed for the second time, we get to

roll it out. So the easiest way to get it to a circular shape is actually to start

out with a rolling pin and to roll it out to about 1/4 inch thickness and then

handle it with your hands.

All right so you want to roll it so the center gets so thin you can almost see

through it and then you want to just take the edges and kind of tug them with

your hands, and if you want to get fancy you can toss it.

Now I actually don't have a pizza peel but what I do have is a wooden cutting

board. Now this will work exactly the same, so to prep this what we need to do

is just cover one side with flour and then we're just going to transfer our

dough to it and it should be able to slide. So the first pizza that we're

going to make is a grandma style pizza. So I'm only going to add about a quarter

cup of our tomato sauce right in the center.

We're then going to put on our sliced pieces of mozzarella, I'm going to

sprinkle on some oregano, a little bit of salt, and a drizzle of olive oil. Now this

is ready to go into our oven.

Now we're going to cook our pizzas in the Pizzacraft for about five to six

minutes turning halfway through, the crust should get nice and bubbly and we'll

have some nice color on the bottom. So the second pizza I'm going to be making

is the pizza that I order when I go to a pizza restaurant, which is going to be

tomato sauce, with some shredded mozzarella, some mini pepperoni, and some

crushed garlic.

Now this oven gets incredibly hot so you want to make sure that your pizzas

rest for about five minutes before you dig in

or you'll burn the crap out of your mouth.

Hey guys thank you so much for watching this video, if you liked what you saw

make sure to give it a like and let me know if you have any suggestions for

future episodes and the comments down below. You can click this button to

Testing audio levels for our voices in the Czech version.

I can hear them aloud, but I can't really see them!

At this point I actually read through the list of secrets, so we should be getting way more secrets now.

The second secret level we never thought of as a secret in the past (but it is one) - you just have to went to a smaller door instead of a big one at the end of the next-to final level.

Skineri just used a rocket as a flare. :D

There was a house in the way, but due a rendering glitch, the game doesn't show it at a longer distance.

... and I just was made into a pasta.

That's actually a very precise jump.

I just had to press the USE button like fifty times when drowning for it to work...

*Trying to get Skineri to get a grenade there*

6 Reasons Why You Should Appreciate Introverts - Duration: 4:53.

6 Reasons Why You Should Appreciate Introverts

If you haven't realized the hard way, it's obvious that our society favors the extroverted

personality.

Being introverted has always been seen as something that needs to be "fixed."

Yet, whatever happened to quality over quantity in our words, Should it be about saying the

most or saying what matters?

Although introverts comprise one third of the overall population,"introverted" isn't

exactly advertised as a successful quality or one most people are willing to put on their

resume.

This often forces many to put on an extroverted personality when at work, school, or with

friends.

With the increasing buzz about introverts personality, in this video I'm going to show

you 6 reasons why you should appreciate introverts.

But before we start, make sure to like this video and subscribe our channel so you won't

miss any interesting update in the future guys.

So, below are six reasons why you should appreciate introverts.

1.

Introverts have hidden powers.

Just because we introverts don't say much, doesn't always mean we're clueless.

While others are busy chatting, introverts observe things most people are oblivious too.

Sometimes we can even read people.

While it may seem introverts are always zoned out, we're actually analyzing and thinking

of creative ideas to one day share with you.

2.

Introverts keep the world balanced.

In a world that can't stop talking, the ability to listen to what each other has to

say is an important virtue that will assist us in building peaceful relationships of understanding.

The truth is, without introverts, extroverted people would have no one to listen to them.

3.

Introverts can self-recharge.

Though the extrovert may gain their energy through mixing and mingling in crowds, introverts

are self-recharging powerhouses.

They don't need to constantly put themselves out there to feel energized.

Their energy is found through solitude.

In the age of social networking, introverts teach us the importance of self-awareness

and getting to know yourself before getting to know others.

4.

Introverts make great friends.

Yes, introverts are human.

Although they tend to stick to a small friend circle, they do value having a close relationship

with the few friends they have.

Introverts may not make the list for the most fun people to hang out with, but when all

the fun is over and you just need someone to listen to you, count on introvert to be

there for you.

5.

Introverts will one day run the world

In her famous Ted Talk, Susan Cain states that there is actually no flaw in being introverted.

Yet, our society down plays the positives of being an introvert due to how successful

many have them have turned to be.

Introverts have shown the potential to be great leaders.

Never underestimate an introvert, because someday you might end up working for them.

6.

Introverts have something important to say

There's nothing more disappointing to an introvert than finally taking advantage of

a moment to speak , only to be interrupted by an extrovert.

Amidst the noise of chatterboxes, the voices of introverts often get drowned out.

While extroverts may speak every thought that comes to mind, an introvert will filter their

thoughts and only speak of the ones they think our best to share.

Well, that's the 6 reasons why you should appreciate introverts.

So next time you come across an introvert, let them know you appreciate them.

Remember that introverts do have something to say, all you have to do is be willing to

listen.

Really cool information isn't it.
