Waching daily Aug 25 2017

Speaking of corporate crime and white collar crime, that's pretty much what your new book

deals with.

Law and Vengeance, which is getting great reviews.

What did you draw from to write this new thriller?

Is it experiences from your own cases?

Yeah.

Just like the first book I came out with, Law and Disorder, it's a series of books.

They'll be four in a series.

This book is based on real world themes.

White collar criminals in the United States have been operating under this Wild West mentality

where they can lie, they can cheat, they can steal their way to financial success while

never having to worry about the possibility of going to prison.

That's one of the themes that's pivotal in Law and Vengeance.

But in the United States, we've had this way that even though we don't prosecute white

collar criminals, we've had a way of going after them through what we call false claims

acts or whistleblower cases.

One of the themes in the book is that these men and women who risk everything to expose

the wrongdoing of a corporation or government, they're actually more likely, interestingly

enough, to be prosecuted and put in jail than the people that they expose.

This story centers around an actual case we handled here right in the firm.

Actually, a couple of them.

One is a gun sight that was so defective that when it's actually out in heat, in humidity,

it can be off two degrees for every hundred yards.

So, it basically makes the gun unusable.

It's called a hologram.

You're supposed to point it, pull the trigger, and you're supposed to hit your target.

It works great if it's air conditioned.

There's no heat and humidity in Afghanistan.

So, nothing to worry about there.

No, exactly.

Yeah.

That's where it actually became discovered.

You had police officers that were mandated to use this piece of junk and the manufacturer

knew of the problem, kept it on the market anyway, even though.

In the process, taxpayers paid millions of dollars to buy this piece of junk.

So, that's pretty typical in a whistleblower case.

Then also in this case, we find that the whistleblower is victimized.

It's not this, they're going after him to upset him.

They're going after to kill him.

Many of those tragedies involved in the book involved people trying to protect that whistleblower.

I'd love to say that that's just farfetched, but it's not.

It's every day in America, unfortunately.

We really do believe that we have our finger on the pulse of how criminal corporate America

has become or international manufacturers and corporations have become.

We think we have our finger on the pulse.

But until you follow these stories as a trial lawyer every day, you don't get a sense of

really how bad it's become.

That's one of the themes in the case in the book.

It centers around a female trial lawyer, Lee, that I think you'll find interesting.

Yeah.

I've learned from our mainstream media that whistleblowers are the bad guys.

They're horrible human beings.

Our mainstream media has become so preposterous on topics like this.

It's really pretty pathetic.

The Department of Justice in this case, we listened to Obama talk about how he was going

to be there for all these whistleblowers.

In the end, the truth is he wasn't there for any of them.

In fact, he had more whistleblowers prosecuted than three presidents before him combined.

So, the truth is whistleblowers actually are sometimes the last line in defense to the

level of fraud that's taken place in this country that is numbing.

It's just become so bad.

So, the whole book is built around that.

It's a series of books.

The next book that comes out is built around the opioid crisis that's killing so many Americans,

as you pointed out.

The opioid crisis is going to be the major theme of the third book.

Then the fourth book deals with the international banks that are actually washing money for

terrorists and actually enabling many of these terrorist cells all over the world to stay

in business.

You might remember, I think it was nine of the banks in Europe pled guilty to actually

washing money for terrorism.

That'll be one of the themes in the fourth book.

Secrets The Biggest Loser Producers Tried To Hide - Duration: 3:50.

For seventeen seasons, NBC's The Biggest Loser pitted obese or overweight contestants against

each other to see who could lose the most weight.

It's not without its detractors, but it also gained a huge following in its decade-plus

run, inspiring thousands to take charge of their lives and get fit.

Here are a few facts about the reality TV juggernaut even its most vocal admirers may

not know.

Product placement aplenty

Savvy pop-culture diehards know that companies pay millions to get their products featured

on hit shows and movies, which helps producers offset the high costs of filming.

But did you know that The Biggest Loser was one of the most lucrative beneficiaries of

this practice?

"These Ziploc containers, the size of them?

They're perfect for a 100 calorie snack."

In 2011 alone, the show boasted a whopping 533 product placements in just 34 episodes,

according to Business Insider.

The Biggest Earner

Agreeing to feature as many products as possible wasn't the only way The Biggest Loser made

bank.

At one point, the franchise was bringing in about $100 million a year, according to the

New York Post.

That figure accounts for advertising as well as the many Biggest Loser-branded weight loss

goods and services.

Fans snatched up mountains of cookbooks, exercise DVDs, protein powder, workout clothes, and

even video games.

"It's time to change your life and become 'The Biggest Loser.'

Get off the couch — c'mon! — and start playing the game!"

Fans can also pay to attend Biggest Loser fitness camps or "resorts," just like on the

show.

Showmance shame

When a bunch of people are tossed into a captive, intimate situation for a long period of time,

crushes and relationships are sure to develop, only viewers didn't see these so-called "showmances"

on The Biggest Loser as much as they would on other reality TV offerings.

Why?

Well, one contestant told Cracked that camera operators often wouldn't even film canoodling

couples because of the perception that viewers at home didn't want to see overweight people

kissing.

When couples were revealed, it was likely to be late in the season, when contestants

were skinnier and deemed more attractive.

For example, Season 2 winner Matt Hoover and runner-up Suzy Preston revealed their relationship

during their season's final episode.

Emotional starvation

For Biggest Loser's hard-working contestants, much-needed contact with loved ones was kept

to a bare minimum, according to show alums.

After a month or so of training and taping, contestants could reportedly receive written

letters from home.

After six weeks, they graduated to a weekly, supervised five-minute phone call.

In-person visits, except those filmed for segments on the show, were strictly forbidden.

"I've never met him before, so I'm so thrilled to see them, it sends chills through my body."

Off-camera field trips

The contestants weren't totally ranch-bound.

Aside from Biggest Loser standards such as mini-vacations or trips to restaurants to

learn about healthier eating, the competitors were reportedly treated to off-camera day

trips.

On contestant said her cast was driven the 60 miles from the ranch where The Biggest

Loser was taped into Los Angeles for activities such as spin classes, long hikes, or to pick

up healthy snacks at Whole Foods.

Making friends

While The Biggest Loser may have employed ruthless tactics to make compelling entertainment

and a whole lot of money, at its heart were real people trying to lose weight and develop

healthy habits.

In the process, many contestants forged lifelong bonds and still serve as personal cheerleaders

for one another.

In an interview with A.V.

Club, one contestant said there's a private Facebook group just for former Biggest Loser

competitors:

"We have an alumni Facebook group, and that's a really great way for everyone to kind of

vent and talk about how they're feeling.

People post their weight and they're not ashamed of it and people give them advice.

That's a good tool."

Big ending?

Despite its massive profits, The Biggest Loser last aired in early 2016, and as of August

2017, a new season is still not in production.

If and when it will return is officially "unknown," but the show's doctor claims it won't be coming

back at all, according to court documents.

After a contestant accused him of giving patients controversial drugs to help them lose weight

faster, he sued for libel.

After that, he claims NBC washed its hands of the show for good.

PARABLE OF THE GREAT BANQUET FEAST (6 ideas for Sunday School, home & school) CHILDREN'S MINISTRY - Duration: 4:51.

welcome to Wright ideas of Susan today I have six simple lesson ideas to

help you teach the parable of the great banquet - so let's get started.

Look what I got in the mail - what is it? yes it's an invitation it's an

invitation to a wedding. have you ever gotten an invitation before? maybe to a

birthday party? how do you feel when you get invited to something like that?

you feel pretty special don't you? well today we're going to look at a parable

that Jesus told about a man putting on a really incredible banquet but you'll be

surprised with how the guests responded to his invitation. and I could share the

parable through just Bible storytelling and a lot of times I like to use my

old flannel graph to share the story or my curriculum

actually has a PowerPoint with pictures that I could use. another way that I like

to do it most often is to just use my iPad and my Bible app and show it up on

the screen and do guided reading. then after I've gone through the story it is

a great story to act out. as you can see here there's a group of kids that are

acting it out and all someone is doing its just narrating the story while they

act it out and it's a great one because it can involve the whole class in this

parable story... after we act it out - if I have time, there's always a good

video clip that I can show and I have looked on YouTube and I've come up with

a list of really good video clips that may suit an age that you're teaching as

well. then I like to refer back to the invitation and talk about it. and you

know inside this invitation there's a little card it says RSVP what's that for?

it's a little card to respond to the invitation and let

them know if I'm coming or not and my husband and I, we did go to this wedding

and it was beautiful and we felt really honored to be invited to this special

event - but when I was 12 years old I was invited to even something more special

I learned that Jesus invited me and everyone to be part of his family just

by putting my faith and my trust in what Jesus did for me and so I did that and I

must say I am so glad I did that! because I feel God helping me every day of my

life, in good days and bad days and just

ordinary days and I know one day I'm going to really understand what Jesus

meant by this parable story because it says in the Bible that everyone is

invited to this banquet to be with him in heaven at a great feast and all those

people who accept his invitation are going to be at that feast in heaven. how

good is that!!! but there is a reality that not everybody is going to accept God's

invitation to put their faith or their trust in Jesus. and just like the parable

story - many people have their own reasons or excuses for not wanting to put their

belief or their trust in Jesus and you know that's up to them. God's not going

to make them believe in him is he? no, he's not! it has to be their own choice.

but I like to pray for my friends and I like to encourage them and I hope that

one day that they'll want to put their faith and trust and accept God's

invitation to be part of his family. Now As a little final activity I have made a

little invitation for the kids to be able to color and it says. everyone's

invited and on the inside I put the verse 'to all who believed him and

accepted him he gave the right to become children of God' and so the kids can

color that and then they can take it home. And if you like these ideas can you

give it a thumbs up? and if you want more simple ideas like this you can go ahead

and just subscribe to my channel and just tap that little bell and you'll get

notified when I put up a new idea. now I do hope to be able to put up a website

soon - soon as I figure out how to do it, to be able to put up a little copy of

this invitation so that you can download it and hopefully that will happen.

Once again, thanks so much for watching and may God bless you as you teach the

next generation that they too have been invited to be part of God's family.

BREAKING: Jim Brown gives Colin Kaepernick an ultimatum … 'make up his mind' | Top Stories Today - Duration: 2:39.

Jim Brown, arguably the greatest running back of all time, came out with some brutal advice

for free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

Brown, a notable social activist himself, laid out an ultimatum in front of Kaepernick

that many supporters of the controversial quarterback will not want to hear.

While Brown is definitely on the same side as Kaepernick in terms of his social causes,

he believes Kaepernick is not going about this the right way.

"I want to be in his corner, and I do think, 'God bless him,'" Brown said in an interview

with The Post Game.

But Brown believes Kaepernick has to make a decision.

"Colin has to make up his mind whether he's truly an activist or he's a football player,"

the Hall of Famer said.

"Football is commercial.

You have owners.

You have fans.

And you want to honor that if you're making that kind of money."

"You have to understand there's intelligence that's involved, OK?

I can't be two things at once that contradict each other.

If I sign for money, then the people I sign with, they have rules and regulations,"

he added.

But Brown saved his harshest criticisms for the actual protesting of the anthem itself.

"I'm going to give you the real deal: I'm an American.

I don't desecrate my flag and my national anthem," Brown said.

"I'm not gonna do anything against the flag and national anthem.

I'm going to work within those situations.

But this is my country, and I'll work out the problems, but I'll do it in an intelligent

manner," he added.

Brown said Kaepernick's method of protest does more to draw attention to himself than

his cause.

"If you have a cause, I think you should organize it, present it in a manner where

it's not only you standing or sitting on one knee, but a lot of people that is gonna

get behind each other and do something about it," Brown said.

"If I ask you one question: Who is Colin calling on to follow what he's talking about?"

Brown has made reaching out to troubled inner-city youths one of his primary advocacy causes.

He founded Vital Issues in 1986 to help educate youth and keep them away from gangs.

Vital Issues became Amer-I-Can in 1989 and continued to do similar work.

Brown - 81, played for the Cleveland Browns from 1957-1965, and was a key member of the

team's 1964 NFL championship squad.

He is a member of the college football and pro football halls of fame.

How Has the Phoenix Market Changed in a Year? - Greater Phoenix Area Real Estate Agent - Duration: 2:07.

- Hi, this is Jason Penrose with the Penrose team at RE/MAX.

Thank you for tuning in to Jason Penrose TV.

Today we're talking about the real estate market

in July of 2017 and what has changed year over year.

Stay tuned to learn more.

(bright cheerful music)

Thank you again for tuning in to Jason Penrose TV.

So, July of 2017 we had 8,912 homes come on the market

versus 9,043 the year before.

A decrease in new inventory of one point five percent.

Now, active homes on the market were 20,301 home this year

versus 22,510 last year.

That's a 10.8 percent decrease

in the number of active homes on the market for sale.

Quite a reduction in availability.

So, sold homes with 8,016 homes sold in 2017

versus 7,761 in 2016.

A four point two percent increase

in the number of homes sold.

Your month's supply of inventory went from

two point five three this year

to two point nine zero last year.

So, your month's supply of inventory dropped 13 percent.

So, what do we see here?

We see tightening inventory.

We see uptick in homes selling.

So, it's still showing a strong seller's market

with limited availability and strong buyer demand.

A lot of that has to do with lower interest rates.

Right now, the 30 year fixed average

is around three point seven five with really good credit.

Now, it's going to vary form lender to lender

but, right now it's around three point seven five.

So, buyers are buying now to lock in the low rate

and the low payment.

A lot of sellers, who currently own,

are selling their homes.

Moving in to their next home

to lock the rate before it adjusts.

So, if you know anybody thinking about buying

or selling a home,

or you have real estate questions,

please call me on my cell phone.

I would love to talk with you. 602-738-9943.

Thanks for taking this video

and sharing it with your friends or family.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Have a great day.

BREAKING: Furious Marine Spills The Beans On Democrat Spy Scandal | Top Stories Today - Duration: 3:50.

New facts have arisen in the developing scandal surrounding the IT aide of Representative

Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL).

Although this story has not been highly covered in the mainstream media, the implications

it could have for Wasserman Schultz and the Democrat party are significant.

According to Independent Journal Review, A US Marine Corps veteran who rented a house

from Wasserman Schultz's aide has decided to reveal his identity as an FBI source in

order to reject the Florida congresswoman's claim that the investigation is the result

of "Islamophobia."

Andre Taggart, an African American veteran who claims to vote Democrat, expressed his

dismay at Wasserman Schultz's assertion that "racial and ethnic profiling" is

at the heart of accusations against her IT aide Imran Awan, a belief documented by Christian

News Alerts.

As Breitbart noted, Awan had worked for Wasserman Schultz and other congressional Democrats

since 2004.

Last month, he and his wife were arrested for fraud and embezzlement charges while attempting

to flee the country to Pakistan.

New York Post reported that Imran Awan was indicted last week on four counts, including

conspiracy and making false statements.

While this is in relation to the bank fraud charges, the real controversy surrounding

the Democrat IT aide lies in an ongoing investigation into his handling of sensitive congressional

information and technology.

Awan and his team, which included his brother and wife, were barred from House IT work in

February after they were unable to produce missing computer equipment worth hundreds

of thousands of dollars.

Interestingly, Wasserman Schultz kept Awan on her payroll even after he was banned from

House computers, as reported by Gateway Pundit.

An investigation by The Daily Caller indicated that the former DNC-chair intended to keep

paying Awan even after he left for Pakistan.

Andre Taggart took issue with Wasserman Schultz's dismissal of the accusations as the product

of "profiling."

It was Taggart who informed the FBI about smashed computer hard drives at Awan's home.

Taggart told The Daily Caller, "Him, his wife, his brother, all working down there

— there's no way they could do this without help.

If we can drag Trump and his wingnuts through the mud for the Russia influence that they

are having, then it's only fair that we also expose this shitt."

Taggert went on to say that "[the Awans] took advantage of us," describing how Awan

attempted to sue him to recover the computers and even placed the house for sale despite

the leasing contract in place.

Taggart and his wife, who is a Navy officer, are not the only ones to speak out about Awan's

questionable business practices.

As the Daily Mail reported, relatives recently said of the Awans "For the sake of money

they would have done anything."

In fact, Fox News observed that Awan's own stepmother has filed a police claim against

him for insurance fraud.

Daily Caller also suggested the Awans were running a "ghost employee" scheme.

They collected $6 million in salaries from Congress even though only a few of the 6 individuals

on the payroll actually did work at the House.

Awan's brother, Abid, was paid an annual salary of $160,000 even though he rarely went

to Capitol Hill, spending most of his time running a car dealership–a dealership that

received $100,000 from an Iranian fugitive with ties to Hezbollah.

As the story continues to unfold, the facts brought to light may cast a grave shadow on

the legacy of Wasserman Schultz and the Democrat party.

Predictably, Wasserman Schultz says her IT Aide is only being investigated because of

racial and ethnic profiling.

Is this investigation racist?

We Built a 'Holodeck' for Animals! - Duration: 5:15.

If you've ever wanted to take a virtual vacation… you'll have to keep waiting.

Unless you're a fly.

Or Ant Man.

In a new study published in the journal Nature Methods, researchers announced that they've

built a mini-holodeck a lot like the one in Star Trek.

It's called FreemoVR, and it's for mice, zebrafish, and flies.

Unlike other virtual reality technology, this holodeck is totally immersive, so the animals

can move around VR environments pretty freely.

Eventually, scientists hope this technology will help us study some of the brain mechanisms

behind animal behavior, like making decisions or social interactions.

See, when we study animals in a lab, it's hard to control variables to research how

an animal responds to different environments or to learn about interactions in groups of animals.

Virtual reality can help, but a lot of VR studies involve restraining animals with something

like a harness and only measuring their eyes or brain waves to see how they respond.

That's not exactly a natural interaction, and the brain doesn't process, say, running

on a spherical treadmill with VR the same way as running through an actual maze.

They're different sensory experiences.

But now, scientists have tried to build custom holodecks for fruit flies, zebrafish, and mice.

These animals are used as model organisms in studies all the time because they have

some similar biological factors as humans.

Plus, they're pretty easy to breed in a lab and manipulate for experiments.

In this paper, the researchers ran tests to see if the animals thought their holodeck

environment was real -- basically, if they changed their behavior to match what was happening

on the screens.

Cameras tracked their positions, and then computers updated the projections to respond

to anything the animals did.

In the fly experiment, the holodeck was a chamber with images projected on the walls.

And researchers created a virtual pillar to see if the fly would move around it.

Since mice often avoid heights, the researchers set up a holodeck with a circular running

track over a floor projection.

Half of the track was made to look like it was high above the ground, while the other

half looked lower.

They wanted to see if the mice would stay on the lower side.

And zebrafish often swim in groups, so the researchers used a special bowl and projected

a bunch of space invaders -- like the video game!

The sprites had an open spot in their squad, to see if the fish would join them.

They also did other tests, like designing a holographic fish to see if the real animal

would interact with it.

And it worked!

The flies flew around the projected pillar, the mice mostly stayed on the seemingly lower

end of the track, and the fish followed their virtual leaders.

Now that scientists think they've built a convincing holodeck, the next step is to

use it in experiments to see what we can learn about these animals' brains.

This probably won't turn into a human-sized holodeck any time soon, but still, it's

pretty awesome they could put this all together in the first place.

Meanwhile, in the world of medicine, scientists are trying to figure out what to do about

bacterial resistance.

Because they mutate and evolve so quickly, many kinds of bacteria have become immune

to the antibiotics that we use to kill them.

An estimated 23,000 people die every year because their illness doesn't respond to medicine.

Besides being careful about what they prescribe, doctors are also trying to find new compounds

that bacteria aren't resistant to yet.

And some of them are in human breast milk.

We already know breast milk is packed with nutrients and bacteria-fighting proteins,

but according to new research presented by Vanderbilt University this week, it has bacteria-killing

sugars, too.

In one small pilot study, the researchers examined 5 samples of breast milk.

They isolated a mix of small sugars, called oligosaccharides, from each sample, then applied

them to a bacterium called Group B Streptococcus, or Group B Strep.

If their parent is infected with the bacteria, a baby can get sick on their way out of the

womb, which causes a fever or problems feeding.

But not all babies born to infected parents get sick, so the researchers thought there

might be some resistance passed on in breast milk.

The mix of sugars in each sample depended on a few factors, like the person's blood

group, but all of them seemed to be effective.

The sugars from one sample almost killed an entire colony of Group B Strep, while the

others all killed at least some bacteria.

We don't know exactly how this works yet, but the oligosaccharides might be interfering

with the bacterial DNA.

And the team is already working on a second study.

This time, they have more than 24 samples of milk, and the results so far are promising.

Besides killing individual bacteria, some of the sugars also broke down biofilms, a

slimy protective network of bacteria that are stuck together with some organic goop.

And combining the sugars with an antibacterial protein called polymyxin B, found in human

saliva and potentially breast milk, made it better at poking holes in bacterial cell membranes

to fight off infection.

Through follow-up experiments that haven't been published yet, the scientists also reportedly

found the sugars could kill bacteria besides Group B Strep that cause infections in hospitals.

So even if we can't have holodecks for humans yet, at least we'll hopefully have better

medical treatments.

Netflix's Death Note - Keith Stanfield Interview - Duration: 1:46.

- You know this is the real book. - The actual one Light's using?

Oh, yeah.

How did you get your hands on it?

I think the more appropriate question is how do I get my...

Feet on it.

Well. See if you can do it right now.

So have you seen Ryuk, who comes along with this book?

Yeah, you didn't hear about him?

I thought it was just something you would know.

This is what—I actually talked to Light before and I understand—

- The Shinigami. - Yeah, absolutely—

Don't! Don't... mention Shinigami to me, all right?

Don't—please, I, uh...

I don't know if you heard about this, but the Shinigami liked to eat apples.

- Yet, you like su— - Stop talking about Shinigami, please.

You have a very nice Bowtie, and you're shaking your right foot.

And that indicates to me that you must want to move forward with the questions.

Please do.

Maybe it means that I'm just trying to trick you

It is a shame that the camera isn't on you.

- Is there one on you? - There may be one.

But now it's getting both sides of your beard, so thank you though

- for being able to let everybody know. - Thank you.
