over $100-thousand in car rental costs.  ***Over a hundred thousand dollars in car

rentals?  How does someone do that when they're staying ON A BOAT?

When NASA launched Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 deep into space 40 years ago, each spacecraft

brought along a golden record with sights and sounds from Earth, just in case any aliens

were to stumble across it. Now that the record is being re-created in a box set for humans

on Earth.  ***And after seeing the list of songs chosen for the records, it's completely

understandable why aliens have decided not to visit us.  

A British study claims that cats prefer spending time with humans over eating food.  ***On

the flip side, humans would rather spend time with food than with cats... or with other

humans for that matter.

If you bought any avocados on Facebook, they're probably stolen. With local and global demand

for avocados showing no sign of tapering off, there have been dozens of night-time raids

on orchards in New Zealand by thieves. But while last year most of the stolen crops ended

up in roadside fruit stands and small shops, this year thieves have had to get more creative

and are taking their stolen wares to social media, like Facebook.  ***Maybe I'm just

out of the loop here, but who goes grocery shopping on Facebook?

Some white supremacists taking DNA tests have discovered they're part black.  ***That's

gotta be awkward at the Klan meetings.  Just wait until it comes out that they are also

Lionel Richie fans!

A new study finds that human brains are hardwired to gossip.  ***I didn't realize the National

Enquirer conducted studies, did you?

Snack company KIND dumped 45,485 pounds of sugar in Times Square Tuesday to spark conversation

about how much added sugar children consume.  ***On the plus side, New York's rodent

problem has just been solved by giving all of the rats diabetes.

95-year-old producer Norman Lear has been given the go-ahead to produce a new series

for NBC called, "Guess Who Died?"  ***At 95-years-old, has anyone considered it might

be an autobiography?

Canada plans to legalize recreational marijuana in 2018. An official says Prime Minister Justin

Trudeau's Liberal government will introduce legislation this spring that is expected to

become law by July next year. ***At which point, everyone who said they'd leave the

U.S. if Trump got elected, now have another reason to make good on their promise. 

Customers and employees of Joe's Crab Shack were stunned last week to discover the restaurants

closed with no warning. The company has closed 41 restaurants so far.  ***First it was Radio

Shack, now it's Joe's Crab Shack.  I'd be getting my resume updated if I work at

Shake Shack.

A man in Germany was charged with theft and burglary after police said they found 93 pounds

of women's panties, bras and other underwear at his home. Investigators believe the man

took as many as 1,500 undergarments from apartment complex laundry rooms before he was caught. 

***Well, I guess everyone needs a hobby. 

The next version of Google's Android software will be called Oreo.  ***Followed shortly

thereafter by someone saying it's racist.  Because that's our world in 2017.

UFO experts say that California is the state with the most UFO sightings.  ***With all

the plastic surgery there, the aliens are probably confused thinking California is their

home planet. 

A former computer programmer who got rich by rigging state lottery systems has been

sentenced to prison. ***He's assigned to cell numbers 4, 6, 12, 22 and red cell 81.

A study finds that about a third of new parents lose the equivalent of two months of sleep

during their baby's first year. And one in five parents said they lose more than three

hours a night, almost three full nights a week. ***But even those of us without kids

still lose that much sleep... usually from staying up late binge-watching Netflix. 

In Spain, Rocio Cortes Nunez delivered her third child by C-section at Seville's Valme

Hospital. Shortly after the delivery she was being wheeled from surgery to a recovery room

and was in an elevator when sheer tragedy struck. Reportedly, while the doors opened

and shut, the elevator didn't move. So the orderlies decided to try another elevator,

but as they were moving Ms. Nunez out and with the doors open, the elevator suddenly

started going up. The exact details have not been confirmed but reports from the BBC suggest

that when the elevator started moving, part of her body was outside the elevator and part

was in - and she was decapitated. Her newborn baby was not in the elevator with her during

the accident, which a regional health minister describes as "quick, unusual, and tragic."

Her family is demanding someone be punished over the death; the elevator was reportedly

serviced fewer than 10 days ago.

Hold the phone. In person contact is the only type of interaction that beats depression.

Oregon Health and Science University researchers studied data on 11,000 plus adults, ages 50

and over who had been asked how often they communicated with family and friends through

get-togethers, calls, letter, and emails. Those who saw loved ones in person at least

three times a week had just a 6.5 chance of being diagnosed with clinical depression,

but those who got in person contact only every few months or less had a 11.5 chance.  ***Which

all seems strange to me – because isn't it typically dealing with your family that

causes depression? 

They may get incredible free healthcare, not have to pay back student loans, and a pension

for life, but even Congressmen and women are held to the same standards as the rest of

us when they break the law. Montana Rep. Greg Gianforte has lost his bid to avoid being

booked, photographed, and fingerprinted for assaulting a reporter the day before he was

elected last May. Judge Rick West ordered Gianforte to report to the Gallatin County

Detention Center to be booked for the assault charge by Sept. 15. Gianforte was never arrested

and booked for the assault against Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs on May 24. Prosecutors

filed the assault charge later that day, and Gianforte pleaded guilty in June. However,

his attorneys argued that he should not have to be photographed and fingerprinted because

he was never actually arrested but the judge shot that down. Of course Gianforte wouldn't

want anyone to have a mug shot to use against him when he runs for re-election next year. 

Being a nasty jerk at work pays off. A joint study at Cornell and Notre Dame universities

seems to prove that the old saying "nice guys finish last" is true, especially in the workplace.

The researchers found that men who were less agreeable earned 18 percent more, or an extra

$10,000 annually, and similar types of women averaged 5 percent more, or nearly $2,000

per year. "Nice guys are getting the shaft," declares Cornell Professor Beth A. Livingston.

"The problem is many mangers don't realize they reward disagreeableness."  ***I wanted

to show this to my boss in the hopes of him changing the way he treats me... but I don't

like confrontation. 

Police in Germany have seized a stash of Donald Trump-shaped ecstasy pills. During a recent

random traffic stop, cops glanced inside a van and saw the 5,000 pills which were pressed

into the shape of the president's head.  ***(Cop voice) Wait a minute... this one looks

like FRED FLINTSTONE... I think some of these are kids' vitamins!

Whether it's the result of a solid economy or simple generosity, the Tooth Fairy is slipping

a lot of money under pillows in exchange for baby teeth. The nationwide average in 2016

was $4.66 per tooth, up 19 percent from the $3.91 she gave in 2015 and up a staggering

93 percent from the $2.42 she gave in 2012. That's the word from the annual Tooth Fairy

Poll of 1,588 parents nationwide conducted by Delta Dental, which points to the busy

fairies as a barometer of the stock market's overall direction. ***I was born in the wrong

decade.  I only got a quarter from the tooth fairy for my lost molars. 

Ex-CIA operative Valerie Plame, whose cover was blown during the George W. Bush administration,

wants to buy Twitter just to get President Trump thrown off. And with that in mind, she's

started a GoFundMe page to buy a controlling interest in Twitter, in order to delete the

president's account. The company is currently worth around $12 billion.  ***And so far

In her new book detailing her failed 2016 presidential campaign, Hillary Clinton writes

that while she kept her composure during their "Town Hall" debate when Donald Trump "stalked"

her onstage and invaded her space, she was thinking that the then GOP candidate was a

"creep" who made her skin crawl.  ***Isn't it great to learn she's not a sore loser?

A Catholic priest has taken a leave of absence after revealing his past as a member of the

KKK. ***The Klan and the priesthood?  Maybe he's not a white supremacist after all. 

Maybe he just really enjoys the feel of loose flowing garments.

A truck driver distracted by a GPS unit crashed in Arkansas and spilled a truckload of spaghetti

sauce. Earlier this month in Arkansas a tank car filled with bourbon crashed on an interstate.

And also this month in Arkansas a truck accident left frozen pizzas scattered about.  ***So

the lesson here is clear – hang out on Arkansas highways if you want to save money on your

grocery bill.

go right over it and this strap goes around the back here so

and it lifts right off very easy to put on any chair alright we got this out of

the car so we can take a closer look at it just look this is the box that it

came in here the Miropure two-in-one lumber cushion and neck pillow the

plain box let's start looking at the neck pillow see it has an elastic strap

here on the back and it also has the zipper so if you want to clean the cover

you can unzip the pillow out and get it clean. The back support also has the

strap on the back in order to attach to the chair in an office or car which is

adjustable as well as the zipper if you want to clean it which is on the top

here so that you can squeeze the pillow out in case it gets dirty. These are made

with a hundred percent premium memory foam as you can see very soft and

comfortable very nice there's also no strange odor which you get with some

memory foam products. I don't really notice any smell at all with it and it

has just the right amount of firmness it's squishy but it's not too squishy

and it's not the memory foam where it's too stiff

where it doesn't have that nice support you can see just a little bit of

pressure and it comes back the memory foam and it's very very soft

the cover is velvety. This has a breathable cover on it very soft very

comfortable versatile to use in any chair office car wherever you need it

it's a great product and I'm think I'm going to get myself another one to use

WHAT MESSAGE ARE YOU DELIVERING?

PEOPLE WATCH HOW YOU HANDLE YOURSELF.

TO BE AN EPISTLE OF CHRIST WE MUST BE

YIELDED TO THE SPIRIT OF GOD.

JESUS IS OUR EXAMPLE, AND HE SAID

IN LUKE, CHAPTER 4, VERSES 18 AND 19.

"THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE HATH

ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR;

HE HATH SENT ME TO HEAL THE BROKENHEARTED,

TO PREACH DELIVERANCE TO THE CAPTIVES,

AND RECOVERING OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND,

TO SET AT LIBERTY THEM THAT ARE BRUISED,

TO PREACH THE ACCEPTABLE YEAR OF THE LORD."

ARE PEOPLE SEEING THE MESSAGE OF CHRIST IN YOUR LIFE?

MANY PEOPLE WILL NEVER OPEN THE BIBLE,

BUT THEY WILL SEE THE LIFE THAT YOU LIVE BEFORE THEM.

DO YOU TAKE ON A FRESH ANOINTING EVERY DAY?

JESUS WAS ANOINTED TO LIVE HIS LIFE BEFORE THE PEOPLE.

IT'S THE ANOINTING THAT WILL DESTROY THE YOKE OF BONDAGE.

JESUS HAD COMPASSION TO PRAY FOR THE SICK AND AFFLICTED.

IN THE BEGINNING OF OUR SERVICES,

WE PRAY FOR THE REQUESTS THAT HAVE COME IN

FOR THE PEOPLE THAT ARE SICK AND AFFLICTED,

BUT ARE YOU PRAYING FOR THEM DAILY IN YOUR PRAYER TIME?

DO HAVE FORGIVENESS FOR OTHERS?

THINK OF ALL THAT JESUS WENT THROUGH.

HE SUFFERED FOR MANKIND AS HE WAS HANGING ON THAT CROSS

IN PAIN AND IN AGONY; HE SAID,

"FATHER, FORGIVE THEM; FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO."

JESUS SAID IN MATTHEW, CHAPTER 6, VERSES 14 AND 15.

"FOR IF YE FORGIVE MEN THEIR TRESPASSES,

YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER WILL ALSO FORGIVE YOU:

BUT IF YE FORGIVE NOT MEN THEIR TRESPASSES,

NEITHER WILL YOUR FATHER FORGIVE YOUR TRESPASSES."

FOR SOME CHRISTIANS, FORGIVENESS IS A VERY HARD THING TO DO

BECAUSE THE DEVIL IS ALWAYS REMINDING THEM

HOW THEY WERE WRONGED.

LOOK AT JESUS: HE WAS WRONGED SO MANY DIFFERENT WAYS,

AND HE PRAYED TO THE FATHER TO FORGIVE THEM THAT WRONGED HIM.

AS LIVING EPISTLES, IT'S ALL ABOUT BEING A BLESSING

AND ENCOURAGING OTHERS AND WINNING SOULS!

ARE YOU LETTING PEOPLE KNOW THAT THEY CAN HAVE

THEIR DELIVERANCE THROUGH THE LORD?

IN THE OLD TESTAMENT, GOD HAD THE PROPHET JONAH

GO TO NINEVEH TO PREACH DELIVERANCE TO THE PEOPLE.

AS THE STORY UNFOLDS,

THE MESSAGE OF LOVE AND MERCY FROM GOD IS SUPPOSED

TO GO OUT TO THE PEOPLE BY THE PROPHET JONAH,

BUT HE DOESN'T WANT TO PREACH THE MESSAGE OF DELIVERANCE.

GOD WANTED JONAH TO GO TO NINEVEH TO WARN THE PEOPLE

THAT GOD WAS GOING TO DESTROY THEM

IF THEY DID NOT REPENT OF THEIR WICKED WAYS!

JONAH DIDN'T WANT TO GO

BECAUSE THE PEOPLE OF NINEVEH WERE A PAGAN NATION,

AND THEY HAD BEEN OPPRESSING THE ISRAELITE PEOPLE FOR CENTURIES.

WHEN YOU'RE A LIVING EPISTLE,

YOU DON'T GET TO CHOOSE WHO GOD GIVES LOVE AND MERCY TO.

JONAH DIDN'T WANT TO SHARE THE PLAN OF REDEMPTION

BECAUSE HE KNEW THAT GOD WAS MERCIFUL,

AND JONAH DIDN'T WANT THE PEOPLE TO BE DELIVERED!

MANY PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD HAVE WRONGED OTHERS.

YOU MAY HAVE WRONGED SOMEONE AND DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE IT!

OVERSEAS ON OUR MISSION TRIPS,

REV. ANGLEY SENDS US INTO THE PRISONS,

AND MANY OF THESE PRISONERS HAVE DONE VERY BAD THINGS

SUCH AS RAPE, MURDER, AND SO FORTH.

YES, THEY DO HAVE TO PAY FOR THE CRIMES,

BUT EACH ONE OF THEM DESERVES THE TRUTH,

TO HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO RECEIVE JESUS.

I'VE SEEN HARDHEARTED PRISONERS GIVE THEIR HEART

TO THE LORD AND START WEEPING,

AND THE DIVINE BLOOD OF JESUS WASHES AWAY ALL THEIR SINS.

JONAH WAS FULL OF SELF,

AND HE TRIED TO FLEE GOD'S REQUEST.

AFTER BEING THROWN OVERBOARD A SHIP

AND SWALLOWED UP BY A WHALE AND SPENDING THREE DAYS

AND THREE NIGHTS IN THE BELLY OF THE WHALE,

JONAH HUMBLED HIMSELF TO PREACH

THE MESSAGE OF DELIVERANCE TO THE NINEVEH PEOPLE.

GOD DIDN'T GIVE UP ON JONAH.

GOD PERFORMED A GREAT MIRACLE TO SAVE JONAH

FROM DROWNING IN THE SEA

SO THAT JONAH COULD DELIVER THE MESSAGE FROM GOD,

AND 120,000 PEOPLE WERE SAVED FROM DESTRUCTION.

JESUS SAID IN MATTHEW, CHAPTER 12, VERSE 40,

"FOR AS JONAH WAS THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS

IN THE WHALE'S BELLY; SO WILL THE SON OF MAN

BE THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS IN THE HEART OF THE EARTH."

JESUS MADE THE SACRIFICE TO DIE ON THE CROSS,

AND THREE DAYS LATER HE WAS RESURRECTED

SO THAT EVERYONE COULD HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY

TO TURN FROM THEIR WICKED WAYS.

GOD'S GREAT LOVE STORY CONTINUES ON TODAY.

BECAUSE OF SELF OR HURT FEELINGS,

GOD MAY SEND THE WHALE AFTER YOU, SO TO SPEAK,

GOD KNOWS HOW EACH ONE OF US ACTS,

AND HE IS AN ALL-SEEING GOD, AND HE SEES

WHICH MESSAGE YOU ARE DELIVERING TO OTHERS

BY YOUR ACTIONS AND WHAT YOU SAY.

DOES HE SEE YOU DELIVERING THE WRONG MESSAGE

BECAUSE YOU'RE WORRIED ABOUT SELF,

OPPOSED TO WANTING TO DELIVER THAT LOVE MESSAGE TO OTHERS?

AFTER JESUS WAS ARRESTED, PETER WAS IN THE PALACE,

AND A LADY CAME TO HIM AND SAYING,

"THOU ALSO WAS WITH JESUS OF GALILEE."

AND PETER DENIED JESUS BEFORE ALL OF THEM SAYING,

"I KNOW NOT WHAT THOU SAYETH."

AND WHEN HE HAD GONE OUT ONTO THE PORCH,

ANOTHER LADY SAW HIM

AND SAID, "THIS FELLOW WAS ALSO WITH JESUS...AND AGAIN

PETER DENIED WITH AN OATH, I DO NOT KNOW THE MAN."

AFTER A WHILE,

THEY CAME AND STOOD BY, AND SAID TO PETER,

"SURELY THOU ALSO ART ONE OF THEM;

FOR THY SPEECH BETRAYETH THEE."

WHEN YOU'RE A LIVING EPISTLE,

YOU WANT PEOPLE TO RECOGNIZE

THE RELATIONSHIP YOU HAVE WITH JESUS,

BUT PETER BEGAN TO CURSE

AND SWEAR SAYING, "I KNOW NOT THE MAN!"

PETER'S MESSAGE TO THE PEOPLE

WAS THAT IF HE CURSES AND LIES,

THAT HE IS NOT A LIVING EPISTLE FOR JESUS.

AND IF YOU LIE OR CURSE,

THEN YOU ARE NOT A LIVING EPISTLE FOR JESUS.

IT'S GOING TO TAKE THE HOLY GHOST

LIVING AND DWELLING ON THE INSIDE OF US FOR EACH ONE OF US

TO LIVE UP TO OUR FULL POTENTIAL AS BEING A LIVING EPISTLE.

WHEN JESUS WAS GOING TO BE CRUCIFIED,

PETER DENIED JESUS THREE TIMES.

AFTER JESUS WAS RESURRECTED,

AND BEFORE PENTECOST, THREE TIMES JESUS SAID,

"SIMON, SON OF JONAS, LOVEST THOU ME MORE THAN THESE?"

THREE TIMES PETER PROFESSED HIS LOVE FOR JESUS!

THREE TIMES JESUS TOLD HIM TO, "FEED MY SHEEP."

IN OTHER WORDS, "DON'T JUST SAY THAT YOU LOVE ME,

PROVE IT BY WINNING SOULS FOR ME!"

JESUS WANTED TO MAKE SURE PETER UNDERSTOOD

THE GREAT RESPONSIBILITY OF SPREADING THE GOSPEL

AND FEEDING THE PEOPLE THE WORD OF GOD!

PETER HAD NOT RECEIVED THE HOLY GHOST YET,

AND IT- AND JEALOUSY WAS SHOWING UP ON HIM.

WHEN PETER SAID TO JESUS, "WHAT SHALL THIS MAN DO?

MEANING JOHN.

PETER WAS SO CONCERNED IN WHAT JOHN WAS GOING TO DO!

WHEN WE ARE LIVING EPISTLES FOR THE LORD,

WE CAN'T BE WORRIED ABOUT WHAT OUR BROTHERS

AND SISTERS IN CHRIST ARE DOING!

THE LORD ALREADY GAVE PETER HIS RESPONSIBILITY.

WHAT A BLESSING TO TAKE CARE

OF THE LORD'S PRECIOUS LITTLE LAMBS.

THIS IS THE LORD'S PRIZED POSSESSION-SOULS,

AND HERE PETER'S WORRIED ABOUT WHAT JOHN IS DOING!

BUT EVERYTHING WAS GOING TO CHANGE

BECAUSE JESUS WAS GOING TO ASCEND INTO HEAVEN

AND SEND DOWN THE COMFORTER, THE GUIDE,

THE TEACHER; THE HOLY GHOST.

ON THE DAY OF PENTECOST, THE DISCIPLES WERE ALL

IN ONE ACCORD IN ONE PLACE READY TO RECEIVE.

"SUDDENLY THERE CAME A SOUND FROM HEAVEN...

A RUSHING MIGHTY WIND, AND IT FILLED THE HOUSE

WHERE THEY WERE SITTING.

AND THERE APPEARED UNTO THEM CLOVEN TONGUES

LIKE AS FIRE, AND SAT UPON EACH ONE OF THEM.

THEY WERE ALL FILLED WITH THE HOLY GHOST,

AND BEGAN TO SPEAK WITH OTHER TONGUES,

AS THE SPIRIT GAVE THEM UTTERANCE."

AFTER PENTECOST, PETER HAVING THE HOLY GHOST LIVING

AND DWELLING ON THE INSIDE OF HIM MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE

IN THE WORLD FOR HIM TO BE A LIVING EPISTLE.

PETER, YIELDING TO THE HOLY GHOST, USING HOLY BOLDNESS,

DELIVERED A POWERFUL MESSAGE TO 3,000 PEOPLE

AND TOLD THEM THAT THEY WERE- THAT THEY CRUCIFIED JESUS.

THIS PRICKED THEIR HEARTS, AND THEY WANTED TO KNOW,

"WHAT SHALL WE DO?"

IN ACTS, CHAPTER 2, VERSES 38 AND 39,

"THEN PETER SAID UNTO THEM, REPENT, BE BAPTIZED

EVERY ONE OF YOU IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST

FOR THE REMISSION OF SINS,

AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE THE GIFT OF THE HOLY GHOST.

FOR THE PROMISE IS UNTO YOU, AND YOUR CHILDREN,

PETER GAVE THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO RECEIVE.

NOW PETER AND JOHN ARE WORKING TOGETHER.

PETER WASN'T WORRIED ABOUT WHAT JOHN WAS DOING,

IT WAS ALL ABOUT WINNING SOULS!

SO, AS PETER AND JOHN

ARE HEADING UP TO THE TEMPLE TO PRAY,

THERE'S A MAN WHO WAS CRIPPLED SINCE BIRTH

AT THE GATE BEGGING FOR MONEY.

THIS MAN WOULD BE CARRIED TO THE GATE EACH DAY,

SO MOST PEOPLE WHO WENT TO THE TEMPLE KNEW THIS CRIPPLED MAN.

SO, AS PETER AND JOHN ARE ABOUT TO ENTER THE TEMPLE,

THE MAN ASKED THEM FOR SOME MONEY.

I'M SURE THIS MAN JUST WANTED TO RECEIVE SOMETHING,

ANYTHING THAT THEY COULD SPARE.

PETER AND JOHN DIDN'T HAVE ANY MONEY.

THEY WERE POOR IN MAN'S EYES,

BUT THEY WERE RICH IN GOD'S EYES.

"PETER SAID, SILVER AND GOLD I HAVE NONE;

BUT SUCH AS I HAVE GIVE I THEE:

IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH RISE UP AND WALK."

PETER PUT FORTH HIS HAND, NOT WITH MONEY,

BUT WITH FAITH IN GOD,

AND IMMEDIATELY, THE MAN'S BONES RECEIVED STRENGTH,

AND HE WAS A MADE WHOLE.

THIS MAN ENTERED IN THE TEMPLE

WALKING AND LEAPING AND PRAISING GOD!

WHAT A GREAT TESTIMONY,

AND ALL THE PEOPLE THAT KNEW HIM WERE AMAZED!

WHEN YOU RECEIVE A MIRACLE, ALWAYS GIVE GOD

THE PRAISE, THE HONOR AND THE GLORY,

AND BE A WITNESS AND LET PEOPLE KNOW

WHAT JESUS HAS DONE FOR YOU.

AND GLORIFY YOUR FATHER WHICH IS IN HEAVEN."

PEOPLE NEED TO SEE THAT YOU ARE A LIVING EPISTLE FOR CHRIST,

BEING JUST LIKE JESUS WITH NO SIN IN YOUR LIFE.

MANY PREACHERS ARE PREACHING A WATERED-DOWN GOSPEL

TO THE PEOPLE,

MEANING THAT THEY DON'T PREACH 100% OF THE GOSPEL,

SO THEIR CONGREGATION LIVES A WATERED-DOWN GOSPEL LIFE.

THE MESSAGE THAT GOES FORTH IS THAT

JUST SAID WAS THE STUDY THEY ARE GOING TO DO ABOUT THE

EFFECTIVENESS AND LETHALITY OF EXISTING TRANS SOLDIERS AND

Analyzing "The Way I Am" - Duration: 8:27.

So in my Criminal video I promised to do another verse from Marshall Mathers LP in case of

five hundred likes.

And as you can see, it has way more now.

So I held a vote on my Twitter to get to know which verse was the most desired.

And it was the first from "The Way I Am", so I started working on it.

But in the process of deconstructing the verse, I came to the conclusion: there's no way I

could fit this verse in a rhyme scheme video.

Firstly, because I don't wanna give rappers credit for rhymes they don't intend to make,

and secondly, because there are just moments that cannot be explained with colors and lines.

If I did this verse regardless, many of you would bash me in the comments saying something

like, "This doesn't rhyme" or "You missed this rhyme" or "You're an idiot".

And since I'm doing a different format this time, I'd like to talk about one little thing

that made this song sound so tense and straight up interesting.

Do you wonder what that thing is?

Well, I got the AnSoR.

But before I tell you, I wanna point out that Eminem was in charge of the whole process

of creating this song, including the beat.

Here's a passage from his own book "Angry Blonde":

" "The Way I Am" was one of the few tracks that I did completely by myself.

I had the beat in my head before I went into the studio to lay it down.

I had the rhyme and the piano loop all worked out.

I had Jeff play the loop and I finished

the rhyme listening to my headphone set on the way to L.A. That's why the flow is like

that, 'cause all I had was the piano loop in my headphones.

I thought about the rhyme first..."

Starting with lyrics without music is actually unlikely for a rapper, let alone a musician,

however, Eminem did just that.

When writing lyrics, he only followed the piano pattern, which is 2 short notes followed

by 1 long note, or, if we're being technical, 2 quarter notes followed by 1 half note.

Eminem mirrors it with his two short and one long syllable pattern, which, if it were a

piece of poetry, would be called anapaest, a metrical foot.

And there are four anapaest constructions in almost every line, so that way we have

tetrametric anapaest on our hands.

But you may notice that the long, emphasized notes and syllables don't land on the downbeat,

and this is where syncopation kicks in.

Syncopation is a placement of rhythmic stresses or accents where they wouldn't normally occur.

A simple example of syncopation use would be the chorus of Lupe Fiasco's classic song

"Kick, Push":

Here, Lupe says the word "coast" half a beat before when you would expect it, which makes

the hook slightly more rhythmically interesting.

You can do this with a note or a word, or you can do the same thing with a whole melody

or a vocal track, which is what Eminem does exactly, moving his verses by half a beat

backwards.

It's also present in the drumbeat: the kick drum is misplaced half a beat behind where

you would normally expect it, just like the verses, so that half of long syllables actually

land on the kick.

The only instruments with normal rhythm are the bell and the bass guitar, and they actually

open this song, serving as an important starting point.

Just listen to the live version that awkwardly starts with the piano riff:

Basically, the appeal of syncopation is that it makes the song more interesting, but, like

they say, you don't appreciate it until it's gone, so, I reconstructed the beat, but with

all the instruments playing in a regular rhythm, with no syncopation whatsoever, and of course,

with Eminem's verse shifted forward by half a beat, so that every stressed syllable lands

on the downbeat:

I think it speaks better than words.

While most rappers try to stay on the beat, Eminem goes against his own sense of rhythm,

which is an extremely difficult thing to do.

Musicians may say that he's rapping off beat, but this term might lead to confusion, as

if he misses the beat.

No, he's still in sync with it, if you excuse the pun.

If you think it's nothing special, I highly suggest you watching the Vox video about the

same type of syncopation in Radiohead's "Videotape" and how Thom Yorke, a very experienced musician,

struggled to play 4 quarter notes.

Also, in case you thought Eminem shifted his vocals in post, think again after this:

"The Way I Am" showcases Eminem's rhythmicality, which is one reason why many people consider

him to be the greatest technical rapper of all time.

Another reason is his rhyming ability.

Now, we all know Eminem likes to rhyme a lot, but this cut is different.

Due to this tetrametric anapaest construction Eminem doesn't have enough space for long

multisyllabic rhymes, therefore he mostly spits one- or two-syllable rhymes, and you

can hear them for yourselves, so instead I'd like to focus on the rhymes that didn't let

me do the usual rhyme scheme video:

1.

"Needed to be" and "Meanest MC", I kinda think it's more of an accidental quadruple rhyme,

but whatever 2.

"Berserk" and "bizarre".

This is a case of pararhyme, which means, different vowels, same consonant pattern.

A classic example of this type of rhyme is "Yo RZA, yo razor"

3.

This tension, dispensing, these senten, ces getting, this stress, this chest

4.

Eating me, recently, peacefully, decency, freaks see me, eating, feeding, speak to me

5.

N'Sync, friends think, friendly, can be, tempt me, empty, ten feet

6.

Tank is, patience.

You understand what the problem is, right?

The vowels are not identical, but they are similar, and the rhyme is 100% intentional.

I think this counts as a rhyme, but plenty of people may beg to differ.

People, we will define the rhyme, and different people have different criterias for rhymes,

that's why choosing verses and making rhyme schemes is such a hard thing for me.

But if you use slant rhymes and speak your mind clearly, I'm gonna prefer you to a rapper

who only says things because they rhyme well; 7.

Is in and "and if"; 8.

In me, -fend me.

Yes, I can only hear Eminem saying "offind me", not "offend me", which would've in and

of itself rhymed with "ten feet".

But, like many people say the word "get" as "git", this stretching is rather common, and

case in point: Kendrick Lamar's "DNA".

Nevertheless, all the rhyming is still A1 in this song, as well as in most other Eminem

songs.

But here I would like to calm down your probable obsession over rhymes.

Multisyllable lyrical miracle spiritual rhyming is not necessary to make a great rap song.

Look at Snoop Dogg, for example.

He isn't a technically impressive rapper, but he's so charismatic that people don't

even pay attention to things like frequently using "D-O-Double-G" as a filler word.

Is Snoop Dogg inherently better than Eminem?

No, they are incomparable because they focus on different aspects of rap.

And you can prefer any style you want, but I want you to appreciate both Art n Skill

of Rap.

So this was my first video not in the "Rhyme scheme" format.

where you can find breakdowns of frequently requested verses from songs like "Rigamortis",

"No Favors", "Renegade", "Hardknock" and more.

welcome back to dr. maclean explains my goal is to break down the US healthcare

system into understandable parts to clarify what is the problem with the

system and to talk about how to fix it in segment 4 we zeroed in on what I

call the Real Problem with healthcare relentlessly rising costs in this

segment we will look at why the u.s. spends so much on health care as you can

imagine there are many reasons not just one in fact it's a perfect storm of bad

reasons built into the system we will look at whether we are getting our

money's worth here's a list of the reasons Part one

and Part two we will go through each reason let's

start with some natural drivers of health spending which are understandable

and expected first as the population grows so will health spending likewise

as the proportion of older people increases so will spending we also

expect health spending to increase slowly with inflation new technologies

and medicines increase cost and we hope will give dramatic benefits for example

during my 40-year practice lifetime I have seen the introduction of new drugs

for diabetes, blood pressure, and virus infections including HIV and flu I have

seen new ultrasound CT and MRI Diagnostics I have seen cardiac Cath's

bypasses and joint replacements these new things are expensive but well

worth the cost but health spending grows from 1-1/2 to 4 times faster

than the rate of inflation much more than would be explained by natural

drivers as we saw previously so let's look at the other reasons first and

foremost to my way of thinking is fee-for-service doctors in the u.s.

unlike other countries where they are salaried get paid for piece work if the

surgeon doesn't operate he doesn't get paid

if a specialist doesn't have a patient scheduled he doesn't get paid money is a

powerful incentive so we should not be surprised if doctors increase their own

volume of services many times unconsciously the next big reason is our

health insurance until recently premiums were paid by employer and out-of-pocket

co-pays were minimal health care felt free to most of us most of us had no

idea of what our care was costing the system and cared little talk about a

perfect storm why didn't market forces keep down costs

and spending many politicians and reformers think competition is the

simple solution to the health care cost problem but economists will tell you

that health care is not a pure market they refer to it as imperfect the

reasons are first that no one knows the true price of anything have you ever

tried to sort out a hospital bill ridiculous second markets rely on buyer

and seller having equal footing to negotiate but most patients dare not

quibble with their doctor doctors get their feathers ruffled when patients

challenge their advice third to make matters worse patients are a captive

market they are often suffering frightened for their life and desperate

for immediate relief not exactly in a strong bargaining position and fourth

doctors can control demand there's an old joke about the level of eyesight

loss that needs a cataract operation if there's one doctor in town it's 20/100

hundred if two doctors it's 20/80 and if three doctors in town it's

only 20/60 in other words doctors have a huge influence on tests

medication surgeries economists call this provider induced demand next is

administrative costs some economists estimate that up to 1/4 of all

healthcare spending is for administration

not actual care this is not surprising knowing how complicated we make our

delivery system and our financing system most other countries have one delivery

system or one payment system the US has 600,000 separate doctors 5500 separate

hospitals and 35 different insurance companies not counting Medicare and

Medicaid doctors used to drown in papers now we spend up to 2 hours doing

computer work for every hour of patient care literally don't you love it!

for comparison Medicare reports only 2% administrative costs but some of the

other costs are hidden elsewhere in government some other spending drivers

include inefficiency I include in this category unnecessary tests and

treatments as well as wasted effort due to incompatible computer record systems

there are 632 separate electronic vendors in the US if airports ran this

way each airline at each Airport would have its own unique air traffic computer

that did not connect with any other all in the name of free market for computer

records regards unnecessary treatments and

procedures a doctor at Dartmouth named John Wennberg pioneered using big data in

the 1980s to look at numbers of prostate operations in each individual zip code

and found that surgeons in some regions were operating 13 times more often in

the highest areas than the lowest since prostate disease is relatively constant

everywhere this can only mean that doctors practice varies widely the

highest utilizers are doing too many operations

next is monopolies many small and medium-sized towns and rural areas can

support only one hospital this creates monopolies with no market forces

whatsoever to hold down charges cost-shifting means that patients with

no insurance come to the ER for care since the ER doesn't get paid the ER

quietly shifts the uninsured cost into the bill for insured and Medicare

patients cost shifting itself doesn't increase the cost but getting care in an

ER instead of at a doctor's office is the most expensive possible place for

care next is the FDA new technology policy

this means that FDA rules are to approve any new drug or treatment if it shows

even the slightest statistical benefit no matter how small some expensive

cancer drugs are approved that extend life by only a few weeks other

medications are approved even if the number needed to treat is 100 for

example for some new cholesterol medications 100 patients need to be

treated for five years before we see even one heart attack prevented that's a

lot of patienrs and a lot of doses and a lot of dollars by comparison since half

of appendicitis patients die without treatment and almost all with appendix

surgeries survive and live happily ever after the calculated number needed to

treat is only 2, so appendectomies are good value but cholesterol

medication for otherwise healthy people has questionable value to my way of

thinking here is another way of looking at value as we go from left to right in

this graph we are spending more and more on health care the more we spend the

higher the cumulative health benefit at least to start the first section Roman

numeral I are very high value interventions like public health

sanitation immunizations the next section Roman numeral II are good value

routine health treatments including kidney dialysis and first-line

chemotherapy for treatable cancers but when we reach the third section

Roman numeral III the benefits level off bypass surgery is less effective for

older patients and more risky terminal patients don't survive in intensive care

units and are miserable with tubes and futile breathing machines if we

spend even more we reach Section Roman numeral IV in which no additional

benefit is gained just a lot of extra testing treatments or drugs these are

wasted dollars and if we keep spending more yet we actually do more harm than

good and can even have deaths on the operating table or reactions to too many

drugs the u.s. is well into Section IV and in some cases section V a lot of

other rich countries think that they have already reached the point where

spending more will give no benefit or possibly do more harm than good even

though they spend much less than the US in the next segment we will look at the

ramifications of so much health spending on the US economy politics and society

and we will look at some potential threats if we don't start to control
