Waching daily Aug 29 2017

Hi, thank you for joining me in my study. At my bedside, on the nightstand, is a

brass tortoise which Jan bought for me. It serves as a reminder of the story of

The Tortoise and the Hare. You'll remember in this story the hare races

out in front of the tortoise to try to win the race but soon grows tired and

falls asleep, while the tortoise just keeps steadily plodding along step by

step until the hare wakes up and finds that the tortoise is crossing the finish

line ahead of him. And the moral of this story is that little by little does the

trick; just steady, constant plodding gets the race won, and this is a good reminder

to me in my current work in writing my book on the atonement. I'm on the fourth

chapter this week, which is on divine justice, and I've been plodding through

this chapter just one paragraph at a time, very slow going. I think the

overwhelming impression that I have as a result of writing this chapter is how

empty the so-called "New Perspective on Paul" is with regard to divine

righteousness or justice. This new perspective construes the righteousness

of God to be God's faithfulness to his covenant and this radically affects your

doctrine of the atonement because now justification is no longer about

cancelling people's guilt and helping them to be justified before God's

normative righteousness or justice. But when you look at the way the word

righteousness is used both in the Hebrew Bible in the Septuagint, the Greek

translation of the Old Testament, and biblical literature what you discover is

that the word righteousness is never used as a synonym for "faithfulness." It is

always a normative concept having to do with moral rectitude or legal justice

with rightness, and therefore the approximation to a standard. And so when

Paul talks about our being justified in Christ what he means is "put right with

God." Our sin is expiated. Our guilt is removed and we are put into a right

legal standing with God. It is a forensic term indicating God's pardon of us

before the bar of his justice. And so that is, I think a very important conclusion

with respect to this fourth chapter that I'm working on this week.

impact medias team has been producing professional broadcast quality videos

for well over a decade we've been behind the production of many TV commercials

infomercials internet marketing videos corporate videos and much more this is

our work these are the folks who make it all happen this is a behind-the-scenes

look and an impact Media production

the team is meeting at a studio location to shoot a commercial for an

up-and-coming dating app what we shot was a commercial for this company that

makes this app for meeting new people online in your area and what we did was

we hired a couple of actors to play friends who are college students the

commercial is going to be a green screen shoot that means the team sets up a

green backdrop so that any image can be placed as the background of the

commercial originally we were going to shoot it at a college campus so we went

around to different campuses to scout locations and but it turned out to be

too much red tape involved with securing the location and we would have to run it

it was going to take us over budget so that's why we decided to just shoot it

at a studio and set up a green screen instead okay Roy gotcha

footage and up until now the project is going off without a hitch but after

inserting the background image the team hits a snag

well the editing went really well for the most part but then when we had to

actually insert the background image you had this issue where we have this green

border going around the actors in some of the shots so the way we ended up

fixing it was we used the piece of software that's especially for motion

graphics and animation and we had to go in and painstakingly remove every green

pixel one by one so it took a long time it was very time consuming it took us

another few days just to do that but that goes to show you that we put in the

extra effort and go the extra mile to make sure that every client is happy

with every project now that impact Media was able to fix the situation with good

old elbow grease the project is finally complete let's take a look at the

finished product

that concludes another job well done by impact Media

How We Proved Earth Rotates Using a Giant Swinging Ball - Duration: 5:44.

[♪ INTRO]

Right now, the Earth's surface is spinning at several hundred meters per second,

and we're all along for the ride.

It doesn't actually feel like you're moving, though.

Which is nice, because being super dizzy all the time doesn't sound like a fun way to live,

but that also means that for a long time,

we didn't know for sure that the Earth was spinning at all.

People have suspected the Earth rotates for thousands of years,

but it wasn't like they could just go to space and see for themselves,

so it was hard to prove in a simple, clear way.

Until 1851, when French physicist Leon Foucault hung a pendulum

from one of the highest ceilings in Paris and let it swing.

Before this, some astronomers as far back as the ancient Greeks thought the Earth rotated,

because that would explain why the Sun and other stars move across the sky.

But not everyone accepted that.

Most people believed that stars were attached to

some kind of celestial sphere that spun around us.

And it probably didn't help that some of the ideas

about what caused the Earth to rotate were a bit odd.

Take Philolaus of Croton.

About 2300 years ago, he suggested the Earth rotated because

it had a twin planet that no one in Greece ever saw.

Supposedly, Earth and this mysterious counter-Earth spun around each other,

always facing opposite directions, at least, from the Greeks' perspective.

Even back then, it wasn't exactly a popular idea.

Over the next few thousand years, astronomers in Europe, India, and the Middle East

also looked at the moving stars and suggested the Earth rotated.

But none of them could prove it.

Finally, in 1651, an Italian physicist named Giovanni Battista Riccioli had an idea.

He wrote that if the Earth rotated, a cannonball shot due north should curve to the right.

It sounds like a weird way to explain the Earth's rotation,

but Riccioli was on the right track.

If you did fire a cannonball north, it would curve to the right because of what we now

call the Coriolis effect, although it wasn't named that until 200 years later.

The Coriolis effect says that something moving in the northern hemisphere will look like

it's being pushed to the right, and something moving in the southern hemisphere

will look like it's being pushed to the left.

Part of the reason for the Coriolis effect comes from the fact that the closer you get

to the equator, the faster the Earth's surface rotates.

That's because the planet's is widest at the equator, so you have to travel farther

to get all the way around it than you do closer to the poles.

But it takes one day for the Earth to finish one rotation no matter where you are, which

means the surface closer to the equator has to travel farther in the same amount of time.

So it moves faster.

Say you're standing at the equator and fire a cannonball north.

The ball zooms north, but at the same time, it's still moving east with the speed of the

Earth's rotation at the equator, where it left the cannon.

That means that as it moves north, it's moving east faster than the Earth's surface.

From your perspective standing next to the cannon,

it looks like it's moving to the right.

Unfortunately, or maybe luckily, physicists at the time didn't have much access to cannons.

Besides, it would be tough to track the path of the cannonball

and see if it curved or not.

So scientists decided to try something easier.

They dropped balls off the top of the tallest towers they could find.

The top of the tower would be moving faster than the bottom for the same reason that the

Earth's surface at the equator moves faster than it does near the poles: to rotate once,

the top of the tower has to travel in a bigger circle.

So if the Earth didn't rotate, the balls should drop straight down.

But if it did, the balls should land off to the side because the top of the tower

is spinning faster than the ground.

One physicist, Giovanni Battista Guglielmini, found that, if you dropped a ball off a tower

about 74 meters tall, it would land around a centimeter to the side.

It was just a small difference, and it was hard to know if the measurements were accurate.

But it was encouraging evidence that the Earth rotated.

Now, by the mid-1800s, most people did believe the Earth rotated

because they'd finally accepted that Earth orbits the Sun.

A rotating Earth was the best explanation for why the Sun and stars move across the sky,

and they had some evidence for it,

like from watching how the stars moved relative to each other.

But it was still hard to prove in a clear, easy-to-see way, until Leon Foucault.

In 1851, Foucault found a proof that could be easily repeated

and didn't require any tall towers:

he hung a pendulum from a string and let it swing.

Since the pendulum is just hanging from the ceiling on a string,

Earth's rotation can't force it to swivel.

The ceiling it's attached to is rotating, but the string stays put

while the ceiling turns around it.

So, once Foucault started the pendulum swinging, it just kept moving back and forth.

But in the meantime, Earth kept rotating underneath it.

From the perspective of someone standing on the ground,

it looked like the pendulum's swing was turning clockwise.

That was the Coriolis effect in action.

The pendulum's swing didn't turn by much, but as time passed and the Earth kept rotating,

its orientation changed more and more.

Foucault first tested his pendulum in his basement,

and then in the Paris Observatory for fellow scientists, and it worked!

Then he hung a 67 meter pendulum from the dome of Paris' Panthéon,

a mausoleum for the greatest French thinkers, and showed it off to the public.

For the first time, people could see a simple demonstration

of Earth's rotation with their own eyes.

Still, watching a swinging pendulum isn't something you want to do for hours,

so to help them out, Foucault placed the pendulum over a bed of sand.

As the pendulum swung, the tip traced out a line in the sand, and over time,

the line showed the pendulum was no longer swinging in the same direction.

You can find Foucault's pendulums in science museums all over the world.

And even though they might seem like just a cool party trick now that we can see Earth

rotating from space, they were really important for helping us understand how our planet works.

The only people who weren't excited about Foucault's discovery were the scientific elite,

who were annoyed by his lack of traditional scientific training.

Unfortunately for them, that didn't change the fact that Foucault created

the first simple, clear proof that the Earth rotated.

But maybe they were just mad that they didn't think of it first.

Thanks for watching this episode of SciShow!

If you'd like to learn more about the Coriolis Effect, you can watch our episode

about how it might not mean what you think it means.

Selflessness: Character Quest - JellyTelly 5 Minute Family Devotional - Duration: 3:16.

Welcome to the JellyTelly 5 Minute Family Devotional

Character Quest with Clive and Ian

Selflessness!

Today's verse is Romans 12:10.

"Love each other like brothers and sisters.

Give each other more honor than you want for yourselves."

Hi everybody, I'm Clive!

And I'm Ian.

What's wrong, Ian?

I don't want to talk about our topic today.

You mean, selflessness?

Yep.

Why don't you wanna talk about selflessness?

Because selflessness means to not be yourself

and I don't wanna not be myself,

I'm the only one of me I've got!

Oh no, Ian.

Selflessness doesn't mean to not be yourself!

Selflessness means to think of others

before you think of yourself,

to love and serve others!

Hmm, that sounds like a lot of work.

Well, it might not always be an easy thing to do,

but when we know that God loves us,

It fills us up, and then we wanna love and serve others!

But if I'm taking care of others,

and putting them first,

who will put me first?

Well, it's not important if we get to be first,

what is important is knowing that God loves us.

and will take care of us!

And I can still be myself?

Absolutely.

I can still wear my Spiderman socks?

Yep!

I'll still be really great at hula-hooping?

Yes, Ian.

I can still eat my favorite peanut butter and salami sandwiches?

Yes, but I don't know why you'd want to.

Jesus is the best example of selflessness that we have!

Jesus is God, creator of the whole universe!

but he humbled himself to be born as a baby

to live on earth - and died on a cross,

all because he loved us so much!

That's pretty selfless.

And Jesus couldn't have been selfless

if he didn't have a self!

He was able to do all of that because of who he is!

And you're able to be selfless

when you remember that it's Christ who lives in you.

I suddenly feel very strong!

Me too.

Let's talk. What did we learn?

What does selflessness mean?

How did Jesus show selflessness?

How do we live out what we've just learned?

Can you think of a time you saw someone be selfless?

Is it hard or easy for you to be selfless?

Let's pray together.

Let's thank Jesus for being so selfless,

and ask him for the strength to be selfless toward others.

How to feel much better when our work does not correspond to our vocation or profession? - Duration: 4:40.

Hello! Welcome back! In this video I want to respond to a query that

I have received from Algeria. Specifically, he is a teacher who

Is dedicated to translation, he is trilingual, for medical reports

But his true profession and vocation is a teacher. I selected this

query because I believe that many people can empathize with what this teacher

from Algeria raises us thus:

Salam! I sent to you many greetings from here

and let's go in!

How many people are doing, or are working, on jobs that are not

having any relation with their true profession or vocation?

This can cause many times we disconnect with the person we are,

with the person we want to be. Many times when we did not find that

Work that we are looking for in order to develop our vocation, in order to

show our talents, can make us feel that we are moving away or that

we may even be losing faculties for what we really have

Come to do. This puts the emphasis on the triad of HAVE-DO-BE

How many times have you not heard: when I am manager of this organization, I will ...

When I have money I will ..... when I have time I will learn about

Certain aspect ... This point of view is putting us in

TO HAVE, in other words: if I do not have these circumstances, I will not do

Certain actions or things that get me to BE the person I am

for this reason many times when we are located from this point of the prism

can lead to that every time we feel more

disconnected from who we have come to make of who we are as purpose.

that is why I invite you to reflect on the investment of this paradigm is to say

Place first in the BEING because when we place ourselves in who I AM

this leads us to perform certain actions that in the long run

will lead to having what we dream and what we crave

If I am a teacher, I am a teacher in all fields and I can apply my

teaching also in translations. That will lead you to have the experiences,

The opportunities to stay active, much more connected with your being

so I invite you to think that small actions you can do in your day to day

that will lead you to be the best teacher you are.

Do not wait to work as a teacher, do not wait to have those

conditions, but live from the BEING.

Take the teacher you have inside, in all your day to day.

And the same thing and if you're an architect, a psychologist, doesn't matter!

Any profession. If the best psychologist, the best architect, is the

best politician who wants to be in your daily actions in your day to day.

Do not wait to HAVE that great situation, that great condition, that will lead you to

DO to BE, because that may come sooner or later.

Connect with who you really are and that will keep you going and you will be at the point

ideal to stay active, awake, to DO things, actions that you

Will lead to having TO HAVE.

TO HAVE what you want, what you long for.

And nobody has said that it is an easy way, so only between 5 and 10%

of people are the ones who really come to fulfill their dreams.

Everything will depend on, at what point in this triad, you want to situate yourself.

And Till here, I hope it has been useful to you. If you liked it, please give LIKE,

If you think you might be interested in other people, please invite you to share it

and see you, in the next video! a kiss!

Chao!

Jak zrobić miekką niebieską kreskę? How to do soft blue eyeliner? Makeup Tutorial - Duration: 2:44.

Hi! It's Aga Wilk. Welcome to my channel called „The Beauty Runway".

Today I'm going to show you how to do an easy and pretty blue eye make-up on my model Ola.

I have already prepped the skin and did the base.

I'm going to focus now on eye make-up and final touches.

Our first step is to draw a line along the lashes with a blue eye pencil.

I've used a soft and incredibly long lasting pencil from Kiko.

Next, I softly smudge the line using a round eyeshadow brush.

I repeat the steps on the other eye.

The next step is to apply an eyeshadow in the similar shade to the color of our pencil on the previously drawn line.

For this I also use a slightly round brush.

The eyeshadow will make the make-up last longer and the line won't smear.

You may also fix the line with a translucent powder, however the blue eyeshadow will make it pop more.

Then I lightly highlight an inner corner of the eye.

I put the mascara on upper and lower lashes. I've used today one of my favorite mascaras, a Dior one.

With a cream highlighter I brighten up the high points of the cheeks, cupid's bow, nose and chin.

I softy accentuate the cheeks with a light natural blush.

The last element are lips.

I'm going to use one of my favorite natural looking and hydrating lipsticks – from H&M Beauty.

Do remember to properly moisturize the lips before the make-up!

Coming soon, a new Basics video- how to prep the lips for the make-up.

If you want to be up to date subscribe to my channel!
