Waching daily Aug 29 2017

hello everyone it's me Jayskibean welcome back to hello neighbor

last episode I explored a lot of the house and I looked around a lot and you

basically watched me do pretty much nothing but open doors so this episode I

actually had to start a brand new game all over again because I played for

hours and hours trying to record the next episode after that actually got a

lot figured out but a lot of things aren't where they're supposed to be like

a lot of things are all buggy English you so I had to start a brand new game

and I've played a lot off-camera since then I found out a lot since then so

first things first we're gonna grab these binoculars here and we're gonna go

up here this is the first thing we need to do is turn off his camera system so

we're gonna go up this way we're gonna go in here gonna pop that there real

quick and we're gonna flip this off like Boop

alright now let's off and next thing we need to do I'm not I'm not exactly sure

what that generator does not exactly sure what that generator does but I'm

gonna drop down here anyway and turn it on it's got to be good right like open

this door and unlock everything we can pretty much and this is a secret door

over here so I'm gonna leap and miss the jump and leap I missed the jump again I

mean I'm gonna get it eventually right oh my god I've done this a thousand

times why can't I do it now okay come on there we go okay and right that one

right there I literally hit every painting in this room because I had a

theory about that one to open that secret door and that was the one was the

last one of his so I'm gonna open that I'm gonna open this and open this one

open this one and there's the thing right there too so I'm gonna grab

something tiny like this guy oops grab something tiny and maybe a backup

plan and then I'm gonna run over oh good fell okay well okay he's right there my

face so since we're outside again we're gonna go over here and open the elevator

door right around back hopefully he's not back here yeah he is okay

I missed it okay good good great maybe he won't see me this time run over here

I'm gonna open this for real this time yes there we go okay got it up and now

we need to go upstairs the good thing is once the elevators open we can basically

Juke him out and run straight into his house like around him okay you can't

reach me here all right flip that and that opens that door it's a secret

passageway so they can go in here and we can open this and I can open this flip

this open I'm he freaking he's everywhere he's literally everywhere

okay so you can grab the umbrella we can unlock this he that's just this favorite

spot right now so we're gonna go back to that later we got the umbrella that's

important so we're just gonna go into his house no and we're gonna climb up

he's right there isn't he he's like right behind me it's okay because we can

climb a hundred times faster than he can so once we get this unlocked we can go

up here we can see that is actually where the green key

is up there I've looked a million times last time and yeah I looked at million

times last time and it wasn't there like for some reason it didn't spawn so

anywhere we're gonna glide down here grab this thing because that's important

gonna move all this and there's the night time door that's important too I'm

gonna grab this table you set it here by the night time door so when we open it

we can prop it open I'll get back to that later

I'll do the nighttime door later and what else we got we can go ahead we can

go down here this is important too we can drop down here you can turn this and

that should start that that should go now yay okay good so that started now

you can drop and we could probably go ahead and just sail on back through okay

so he's got that bear trap Dolf so I'm gonna do this the old-fashioned way okay

so this thing is important because it makes the grass plants grow faster it's

very very important for a certain part it's very it's important to get the

globe remember the globe I don't know if I kept that footage of the globe but

anyway this is a globe and I'm gonna explain it to you guys

maybe I might expect if he doesn't karate bat flip his way Oh parkour

master over here he's at ease all over the place okay so um yeah I'm gonna go

up here actually no no no I missed something really important in here but

because he's in here he's this guy right here I got it though I got the magnet he

loves that space with the birthday cakes that's that's where he is right now like

that's that's his hangout spot he's outside now can't lock him out anymore

we used to be able to do that so we're gonna go up here you're gonna get this

see that that's a thing - over there

this way yes way so here's the red key there's a puzzle for the red key here

but I think I need the gun to get that and you get the gun with what the what's

it called I need those to see you grab this crap okay let's move this and this

is actually where the curb bar is Boop and then we can grab a crowbar with the

magnet grab it okay I don't have enough room in my inventory to wrap do I have

to put something down I got to put something down okay okay well put this

down here then I guess I don't really need it that much right so grab this

grab it grab it dude and of course it falls okay okay yeah that makes sense

all right well I'm gonna head switch this then like while I'm up here he's

close imma go ahead and move these I'm gonna unlock these doors cuz it's always

a good idea to Frick dude I hate having full inventory like okay unlock these

doors I boop boop boo okay so these are a lot now and it

he's like directly under me or something okay so I'm gonna use the binoculars

real quick it's two three six nine so there's the code right there and there's

a mannequin that's important to the birthday-cake room as well so I'm gonna

go to three six and nine and it should know okay

make sure they're all oh I see okay so two three six nine and that thing should

move see that how that thing's moving now now I can get over there that

mannequin alright cool so that's done that's still locked we can get the

crowbar now so let's go get the crowbar what dark mag in it we don't we don't

need this anymore so you can drop that yes so the crowbar is hot we can't pick

it up with our bare hands we have to use our human hands yeah I've got still

locked we need a key for that so I'm gonna drop down here he's gonna see me

close this door so he doesn't see me gonna drop this in here seriously like

wait for it any second now okay cool so now we have

this and we don't need that what we do kind of need the magnet still we need it

for this we need it for this over here that we haven't been able to get yet

because he's hanging out so we're gonna use the magnet on that key this key oh

my god okay boom boom and I get up okay boom all right cool so

we got the gray key silver key whatever you want to call it Center kiddo but

this he's like outside and now we're in here yeah this is a fun room all right

so we're in here and here's the globe room the globe is used to get the other

gramophone which is this guy right here and the thing about the grandma phones

let me explain it to you this one hat plays a nice calming music it makes the

grass and the trees in any like foliage kind of grow that you need so that's

very important and there's another one that plays chase music from the very

first alpha and it makes the grass shrink which is also very very important

so I am gonna pick this box up throw it out this window and unlock some more

paths and I'm actually gonna are you serious umbrella we need a sprint jump

with the umbrella can move can move this am i crouched I was crouched it was

crouched okay so alright now we need to get up top again so we need to go

through the elevator room thing oh my god he's gonna catch me no he's not okay

we're good we're fine we thought we were but we are we really are okay so

elevators elevator room and now now that this is unblocked because we opened this

we can actually walk along here nice and freely and this room right here I

actually need the other grandma phone to make those shrink but there's another

room dah-dah-dah this way

right down here we okay remember where we oh wait no I haven't done that yet

okay let's go this way and we need to turn off the water won't drain the water

so we're gonna go ahead do that it's very important as well and I'll show you

why in a second and right here this is where we need the grass grow we think

you so we need to set this down right here and we need to turn it on and it'll

make these grow and what these are doing is they're switching these switches back

and forth we need to switch them all to the right and once the grass grows I'm

just gonna leave this here cuz you don't really need it anywhere else oh yeah and

there's a sliced cake in here so that's good that's that's good so here's the

globe but boom we got the globe take it home and put it in your freezer let it

freeze and then take it up and put it on that pedestal and when you do that it's

very important to use left click when you do it not right click because then

it counts as you like throwing it on the pedestal and not placing it I guess and

you have to use left click that's how you use the items so you have to use the

item on it and that's that's what we got to do so I'm gonna let it freeze all

right boom alright is there it's all the pedestal now so we should be golden so

now that it's there we need to quick and go up the elevator which it sounds like

he's up Frick he's right there

okay well that's a nighttime now how convenient and I don't believe in

flashlights let you need a flashlight for a puzzle in this game and see how

the water sprit you can't see it but the water's frozen there's your usually

water here so I'm gonna jump get a jump I'm gonna grab this guy and we have it

good and this is the music in place isn't this wonderful guys brings back

memories oh good the train hit me yay uh okay well I guess I'll unlock this while

I'm here yeah I'm gonna wait I'm gonna wait for the train to pass first there

way okay all right jump and now we sprint jump alright alright maybe go

through here we can open the nighttime door where's the table at there's the

table we need to pick it put something down you always got to put something

down okay if that can't see you can't see it big alright put down the night

time table or pretend I guess we can call it the night time table put down

the table right here so it blocks the door cuz the door will shut during the

day I don't think it did that in previous versions but it does it now

okay and now we can die we're for you to die let's die we okay you're gonna let

me through let me through let me through alright and it's locked for some reason

why is it locked it's daytime though it's not blocked off

why is it locked I don't understand this door have to be

closed oh no no I'm locked in since I restarted I had to switch this

off again I'm gonna go ahead and put the cake here

of course he sees me may as well o do this as everything's gonna be all buggy

I got it open hahahaha alright let's try this again are you gonna work this time

I don't get it I don't know why the daytime doors not opening as you guys

can see is obviously daytime again obviously daytime this is the last time

I'm gonna try this door if it doesn't work then I am I'm gonna just say screw

it and try again another time or something I don't know try something

else see look at this dude just don't shut

the nighttime door while you're in here cuz then you'll be stuck oh my god it

opened finally good it's cuz I said it was the last try that's why that's why

it open and there's another piece of cake that's a piece of cake that's

important piece of cake we only had to try a thousand times so now we can flip

the switch oh we drained the water so we can just open this up open this up and

there's a guitar that's very important there's a picture in our house I'm gonna

go ahead and do it in the order there's a picture in our house of this scene

right over here and it this right here in it what it does is it when you place

things where they're supposed to go according to where they are in the

picture in our house it'll open a gate out here with the generator you can

switch off and it'll turn off the UM it will cut the power off for the for the

fridge for his freezer Oh what what happened I just launched I just launched

okay for no reason alright and the items are a hat a guitar a skateboard a pillow

and a flashlight don't you shut that back I did not want to do that okay so

the guitar goes here yeah that thing is notorious for freaking out can you sit

there please okay and the Hat the Hat is in this room I'm pretty sure somewhere

there it is okay how it goes here okay now everything

should be golden everything should be good yes it's open okay

nice to be able just jump good turn that off anyway should be able to just walk

right on in here and see ice is melting and there's key card right there but

boom get the key card so now we just sit here and wait and now after we get this

key card we can open the basement we're just like the main goal of the game okay

so that's how you get the basement open and a bunch of miscellaneous doors open

oh we just gotta wait then just gonna wait gonna wait I'm just gonna wait a

thing is about the basement is it's like a mini game and I think you need certain

abilities to get past this mini game because I can't make these jumps so the

only thing I can think of is there's a double jump or something that you can

get from maybe some other minigames and there's some other keys that I haven't

gotten yet like the red key the green key to the green door I don't even know

where the red door is there's there's a lot of things that I haven't really

explored yet in this game so far I've only really gotten to the basement part

but I see puzzles but I haven't completely solved them yet come on don't

you get you can melt today you know if you want Can I grab you know I can grab

you know okay it's melted enough so I can open that can I use it yes and we're

home free just gotta just gotta move the board's got the boards out of the way

alright and boom and I don't need a keycard either so and boom we can just

go in here and I'm gonna let you guys go ahead and see this puzzle

for one I don't know what that is over there but look at that gap though like

there's no way you can make that with just one regular jump I mean I'm gonna

try it uh heck and press the wrong buttons try it but this is the basement

right here ready jump yeah you totally need another

jump to get over there there's there's no way there's no way to do it so yeah

that's that and I'm gonna go back home hopefully the world didn't explode cuz

that's what happened last time as the world exploded oh boy yeah catch me go

ahead catch me okay so anyway I'm gonna go ahead finish the episode off here

this is a lot of stuff like we've solved that puzzle right there you got the key

card we got the guide piece of cake for some reason in our hands and there's so

many more puzzles that I want to explain to you guys that I figured out but I'm

gonna do a little bit more diving on my own time so the recording sessions don't

last an hour and the videos don't end up being like an hour long so anyway hope

you guys enjoyed if you guys did enjoy make sure you slap that like button I

rate the video and until next time I'll see you guys later

THE PROBLEMS WITH SUPERHERO MOVIES - Duration: 8:27.

So look, I don't think it's a secret that I love superhero movies.

I either love them cuz they're fun to watch and/or well made, or I love them because they're

so terrible and I enjoy making fun of them.

And for the past several years we've kind of been living in a superhero movie renaissance.

But with so many new entries into a certain genre of film, even though most of them are

pretty great, there are bound to be problems that come up.

So, today I thought I'd talk about a few problems I'm finding with superhero movies

these days and some ways I think they can be improved.

Let's get into it.

Predictable third acts This is something that's been going on for

a while now, and I think it's time that something's changed up.

Look, pretty much all superhero movies are gonna end with a big punch up between the

good guys and the bad guys, alright.

You can't really avoid that, and that's fine.

But just don't do the same thing over and over again.

To be fair there are some movies that are trying to change things up.

Doctor Strange and Civil War I think have really interesting different takes on what

normally would be the final act of a superhero movie.

And that's what I would suggest you do to better this, switch things up.

Instead of having the finale of your movie being, the superheroes fight and batter down

an entire city, how about the superheroes fight while an entire city is being destroyed

in reverse around them?

But say for example, Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad, or even a movie that I quite enjoyed

Wonder Woman, all their endings are so bland and just meh.

Like not only does it look kind of ugly and the special effects are worse than they have

been for the rest of the film, but it's also just so predictable, I know exactly how

it's gonna go down.

Oddly enough this stood out the most to me in Wonder Woman, which I would say is easily

the best of these 3.

And that's because the rest of the film actually subverted what I was expecting to a certain

degree that I was kind of disappointed that the ending was just, oh it's another giant

grey villain whose hoots lightning and smoke and whatever, and of course it's at night,

and of course there's a giant beam shooting into the sky.

I know everyone makes fun of it by the way, but Jesus can we stop with the sky beams already.

It was getting old by the first Avengers, this is getting ridiculous now.

And this relates somewhat to my next point:

Cliches of the genre Something that I find kind of interesting

is that now that superhero comic book entertainment is so prevalent in pop culture, it's kind

of turned into its own genre, and with any genre comes a lot of cliches.

And I really wish now that people are somewhat aware of these more formulaic tropes, let's

stop using them.

There's no point in killing off a major character if I know for a fact that he or

she will be back.

Alright, firstly, spoilers for Batman v Superman and also the Defenders.

If you haven't seen either somehow, click away now.

Anyway, in Batman v Superman, I know Superman is gonna come right back, literally in the

next movie.

So what's the point of killing him?

I get it, it happens in the comics, and you know what, I would be more fine with it if

they actually waited a while.

Like maybe five or so years down the line, then he makes some epic triumphant return,

that'd be awesome.

But as for this case he's been dead for like, one movie and now he's back, which

makes the whole thing feel kind of pointless.

And then even more recently with The Defenders, I know one of the main four and the most popular

Defender isn't actually going to die.

That'd be a cool twist if they actually did that, but I know he isn't really dead.

So why do it, especially if you're gonna erase it minutes later?

Look, maybe this will have some amazing impact on future seasons, but it just kind of annoys

me because it feels like a bit of a waste of time.

I get that no one dies in comics, alright.

And sometimes it works.

But nowadays, if you're gonna kill someone and then they're gonna come back right away,

don't spend a lot of time on building it up and trying to have some kind of emotion.

Or actually keep someone dead for once.

Ok, that was a little bit of a mini rant, but it's just one example of cliches that

are getting kind of old in these movies.

Other examples: the previously mentioned big grey bad guy and blue sky beam problem.

Hordes and hordes of faceless aliens and or robots.

It was cool back in 2012, but now we've seen it way too many times.

And a villain saying that the world is changing, and/or you and I are the same.

Which is a good segway into….

Lackluster villains Look, this is one of the lesser problems on

this list because this problem has been getting better.

Despite the villains from this year being and looking like they're going to be pretty

strong, the MCU in particular has struggled with this.

LIke it's the one thing everything complains about with the MCU, but really, who remembers

Ronan and/or Malekith.

And as for the DCEU, again, I'm not trying to hate on Wonder Woman because it's easily

my favorite DCEU movie so far, but the villain in that, yeah, he wasn't great.

Honestly, say what you will about Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, I for one really didn't like

that performance, but at least I remember it.

I don't remember much about Ares except he was kind of snivelly and then he was a

big demon guy.

Steppenwolf looks like another just super generic big bad guy for heroes to fight who

really has nothing to him.

These don't have to be Heath Ledger's Joker, but give me something to latch onto.

At least Ego was kind of charismatic and Vulture had a backstory that I could sympathize with.

Enough of these just, I wanna destroy the universe because I'm evil or because revenge

or some other reason we've seen a million times.

Everything feeling similar Again, like the last point, I feel like this

year especially superhero movies are starting to get away from this, but it is still a problem.

Now hta 5 to 10 or these movies come out each year, they can start to just kind of blend

together and not stand out.

I mean, Thor and Thor 2 are pretty good movies in my opinion, but there's nothing exceptional

about them.

I don't really remember much about them.

The Amazing Spider-Man's pretty cool, not super memorable though.

Ant-Man's fine, Age of Ultron's fine, but they don't really stand out to me.

They're just fun and then I kind of move on.

Adding new twists and spins to these movies is what makes the best of them.

Examples recently are Guardians of the Galaxy, Deadpool, and Logan.

They all stand out and feel unique because they add some kind of different spice to what

otherwise could be very standard.

That's one of the reasons why I'm more excited for New Mutants than I would've

been a while ago.

Because it's apparently a horror movie and that's something we haven't really seen

that much in this style before.

In fact I'd say the X-Men movies are pretty good at this.

Yes, the core series can get kind of same-y but these more experimental ventures are what

I'm hoping these movies are gonna follow going forward.

Forced set ups This is something that's been happening

for a while, but has only really become prominent in recent years.

Superhero movies set up future movies in the series, hell, other movies in franchises set

up future movies in the series.

But ever since the MCU's inception, it's gone a little too far.

I still think Marvel does this the best, small hints throughout and an end credits scene,

great.

They don't always walk that line perfectly, but most of the time it's not distracting.

But now that other studios have caught on, everyone wants their own cinematic universe,

and sometimes this starts to get really forced.

Having a Wayne Industries satellite in Man of Steel is an great easter egg and a subtle

yet exciting set up for people who are fans of this material.

Having Wonder Woman slowly clicking through LexCorp prepared videos of The Flash, Aquaman,

and Cyborg is not.

I think the line here is if it flows naturally with the film that's being shown.

If the movie's story allows a setup to flow naturally with it, awesome.

I've said this I don't know how many times, but I think Civil War is a perfect example,

especially with Black Panther.

Black Panther is there so people can learn about the character and get excited for his

solo film, but he also has a very vital role to play in the film.

The movie wouldn't be the same without him.

Batman v Superman would be pretty much exactly the same if you just removed that scene with

Wonder Woman finding out about the Justice League.

And then you have movies like The Amazing SPider-Man 2, where suddenly without warning

we're just shoved into this hall of Oscorp Sinister Six setups, and while it might be

cool to a superfan, a regular movie goer is just wondering, what is this?

Save that for the end credits, if you have to have it in there at all.

So my point is, going forward, integrate set ups naturally into the films story or save

them for the end credits scenes, like with Guardians 2.

Whoever Sylvester Stallone is playing is probably coming back for a future movie, but it did

also tie in to the overall Yondu story and was in the film for a reason.

I don't think that's the very best example, but something like that is fine.

I just really don't wanna see a scene in the middle of Justice League where Darkseid

looks down to Earth and says, hmmm maybe I should check that out sometime, and then the

movie just keeps going.

If he's gonna be in it, have it make some kind of sense.

So those were my thoughts on the problems with superhero movies.

How YouTube Search Works - Duration: 1:33.

Welcome to this series of videos about how YouTube Search and Discovery works.

In this one, we're taking a look at Search itself.

Like Google Search Engine

YouTube Search aims to surface the most relevant videos and channels

according to what people type in the Search box.

The results aren't just based on the most-viewed videos.

Videos are ranked on things like how well

the title, descriptions and video itself match each query.

Beyond that, we look at which videos have driven the most watch-time

and engagement for a search phrase.

So, what can you do to help your videos get found in search results?

Consider the following:

Use relevant search terms in your titles and descriptions.

Try looking at Google Trends to see which words people are searching for.

What's key here is being relevant.

Don't try to trick viewers, or they may abandon your video early

and that could hurt its performance in the long run.

Write full descriptions: up to one to two paragraphs.

Some creators only put their social media links in the description

potentially missing out on a lot of extra views.

Pay attention to trending and seasonal topics

and consider making videos around those, especially within your own content category.

OK, so that's YouTube Search but what about Suggested Videos?

Next, let's talk about how they work

and what you can do to help your videos get discovered there.

Why America still uses Fahrenheit - Duration: 4:51.

and...

Alexa, what's the weather today?

with clear skies and sun.

Today's forecast has partly sunny weather with a high of 77°F and a low of 61°F.

UHHHH…

I still don't understand the use of Fahrenheit.

Virtually every country on earth uses Celsius to measure temperature.

But the US still uses Fahrenheit.

And for that reason, we —at Vox— often get comments like these.

*Okay, we get it.*

Besides the fact that the majority of the world uses it—

the metric system makes conversions a lot easier.

The Celsius scale even looks simpler.

It has freezing and boiling points at nice, round numbers— zero and 100.

Where in Fahrenheit, it's a bit of a mess.

And of course, this isn't just an issue of aesthetics or weather updates.

America's unwillingness to switch over to the metric system has had serious consequences.

In 1999, a 125 million dollar satellite sent to Mars, disappeared in the Martian atmosphere.

It's a setback to years of work already done in the vastness of space— all it takes

is one navigation error.

And this colossal mistake was largely due to a

conversion error between US and metric measurements.

Fahrenheit was really useful n the early 18th century.

At the time, no one really had a consistent way to measure temperature.

But then a German scientist, came up with the Fahrenheit scale when he invented the

mercury thermometer in 1714.

To make the scale, the most popular theory is that he picked the temperature of an ice/water/salt

mixture at the zero mark.

He then put the freezing point of water, which is higher than a salt mixture, at 32.

And placed the average temperature of the human body at 96.

From there, he placed the boiling point of water at 212 degrees.

In 1724, Fahrenheit formalized that scale and was inducted into the British Royal Society,

where his system was a big hit.

As Britain conquered huge parts of the globe in the 18th and 19th centuries, it brought

the Fahrenheit system and other Imperial measurements,

such as feet and ounces along with them.

And Fahrenheit became a standard system for the British Empire across the globe.

In the meantime, the metric system was gaining popularity during the French Revolution.

It was put in place to unify the country at the national level.

So by the second half of the 20th century, Celsius became popular in many parts of the

world, when many English-speaking countries began using the metric system.

Even America attempted to switch over.

The change would have been good for trade and scientific communications with the rest

of the world.

So, Congress passed a law, the 1975 Metric Conversion Act—

Which led to the United States Metric Board that would educate people about the system.

This created the only metric highway sign in the US— the Interstate 19 connecting

Arizona to Mexico.

But it didn't go much further than that.

The problem was that unlike the UK, Canada or Australia, the law made the switch voluntary

instead of mandatory.

And of course people resisted the change, and the Metric Board couldn't enforce the

conversion.

So, President Reagan ended up disbanding the board in 1982.

The next nudge to metricate came when the metric system became the preferred measure

for American trade and commerce in 1988.

But nothing really stuck with the general public...

...Even though bizarre measurements like Feet and Fahrenheit are not doing them any favors.

Students have to train for two sets of measurements, making science education even more difficult.

And companies spend extra dollars producing two sets of products,

one for the US and the other for metric.

There's also an argument for public health.

According to the CDC, about 3 to 4000 kids are brought to the ER due to unintentional

medication overdose, every year.

And conversion errors for dosage are to blame.

So it seems like a no brainer— America needs to switch to the metric system to match the

rest of the world.

But it is still struggling to make that change.

That's because it'll take a lot of time and money but there's no financial proof

that this will all be worth it.

So unless that change is proven to be economically better…

We're not going to be using celsius anytime soon.

What's 77°F in Celsius?

77°F is 25°C.

Ah!

Okay.

An introduction to YouTube's new design - Duration: 2:01.

Hey everyone, I'm Seung, a Product Manager on YouTube.com.

I'm Kevin, a UX Designer on YouTube.com.

I'm Mike, a Software Engineer on YouTube.com.

And today we're rolling out a new version of our desktop website.

Let's talk about that.

So here's the new homepage.

As you might notice, following Material Design, we revamped the overall design system to be

cleaner and simpler.

To really let the content shine through.

We also introduced infinite scrolling, making browsing easier - you no longer need to click to see more videos.

You might wonder where we put all the stuff

we originally had in our footer.

We consolidated all our user settings in one place - the new Account Menu.

We wanted to make the new Account Menu the home for everything about you, including your

channels and all your settings.

One brand new setting we're introducing is the Dark Theme.

This has been requested by users for a long time and now you can activate it from the

new Account Menu to cut down on glare and take in the true colors of the videos you watch.

Let's walk you through other parts of the site, like the Channel page.

The new channel page is designed to be more immersive, with more focus on the creator.

Alright, so now let's talk about the Watch page.

Like other parts of the site, we've cleaned it up so that focus is just on the video and the content.

If you want a greater immersion, we've updated the Theater mode to be larger and with a dark header.

Finally, we've also updated Transcripts, so that users with education or accessibility

needs can watch the video and read along at the same time.

Under the hood, we rebuilt the site from scratch on a fast and modern framework we call Polymer.

It means that our users can enjoy watching videos faster, and as an extra bonus we can

now introduce new features we couldn't build before, such as Dark Theme and many more yet

to come.

So that's the new site!

Please give it a shot, and we hope you enjoy it.

We have a lot of cool features in the works, so stay tuned to this channel.

How to Post Video To A Facebook Business Page From Your iPhone | Brighton West Video - Duration: 2:53.

Do you want to create a video to share on your Facebook business page with your iPhone?

I'm Brighton West and I love showing folks like you how easy online video can be.

In this video, I'll show you how to create a simple Facebook video for your business

page.

You can see I've got my camera here and you can choose a horizontal or vertical orientation.

I just happen to like horizontal and I'm using a selfie stick just to hold the camera

a little more steady than just handheld, but you can do it however you'd like.

Let's start up the Facebook app then go into the search bar and find the page that

we're looking for.

This is my business page here - Authentic West Films - and you'll scroll down to the

point where you see "write something" and click in there.

Then you can write something, like "this is a test".

Click down here to get to this menu and we're gonna say a photo or video.

Now we'll head up the the upper left, and we're going to turn the camera around.

Then it's defaulting to the camera with the blue button, but you can go the the upper

right and click on the video camera icon there and it becomes video.

So all you need to do is push the record button and it's going to start recording immediately

until you push it again, which is the stop button.

Try to make sure that the camera is at eye level or higher and you're looking at the

camera lens, not at the LED screen.

So let's just do one really quick:

"Hey there, how's it going, Facebook?

I'm just doing a test video.

Thanks!"

And then just click Stop.

And you'll see the video show up there, you can play it if you'd like to see what

it looks like.

And then you'll click Use if you like it, and you'll see it show up there and then

you can tag people, or places.

And then click continue to have it post your pre-recorded video - because this is a page,

we can schedule it.

We're going to publish it now.

Hit publish.

And now I've pre-recorded a video that will show up on my Facebook business page.

If you want to use online video to share your knowledge and promote yourself as an authority

in your niche, I invite you to push subscribe now.

I help coaches, authors and solopreneurs use YouTube and online courses to grow their business.

This video is part of an instructional series where I show you how to create videos on all

What Other Operating Systems Are There Besides Windows or Mac? - Duration: 12:22.

I think it's safe to say that most of you out there are very familiar with either the

Windows or Mac operating systems.

Chances are you've used one or the other almost exclusively your whole life, without considering

all the other options out there.

You might have heard about "Linux", but don't really know much about it.

For example, did you know that there is no such thing as just a pure operating system

called "Linux"?

Well in this video you won't have to wonder any more about what else is out there, because

we're going to break it all down for you and hopefully make it easy to understand.

Because yes, there are a ton of other operating systems besides just Windows and Mac, but

it's not really as complicated as you might imagine.

Now quickly before we begin, I want to give a big thanks to the sponsor of this video,

Squarespace.

If you need anything from a domain, to a website, or online store, you can 'make your next move'

with Squarespace.

Squarespace is an All-in-one platform, so you''ll never have to worry about installing

or upgrading anything, making it easy to, for example, create an online store using

award winning templates, where you can even manage inventory and orders.

Of course if you want you can also set up or transfer your domain through Squarespace

if you already have one.

You can start your free trial today, at Squarespace.com, and go to Squarespace.com/ThioJoe to get 10%

off your first purchase. And that link will be in the description as well.

So now, let's go over those operating systems.

And yes, you could just skip through and look at a list of the OS's I mention, but I really

encourage you to watch the whole thing to understand the context of why you might use

each one.

To most easily understand how current operating systems relate to eachother, we need to go

way back, to when we had DOS, disk operating system.

Actually, DOS is irrelevant now so let's skip past that, and begin in 1969.

This is when we got the first big daddy operating system still around today, and an essential

part of what we're going to talk about, so bear with me.

And this OS was called "Unix".

Unix was originally created at AT&T as an operating system for use in their Bell System.

But eventually AT&T started licensing out the operating system to third parties.

Today, there isn't really any pure "Unix" operating system around today.

Instead, Unix is a family or operating systems that all must adhere to a set of proprietary

specifications called the "Single Unix Specification", in order to be considered a true Unix OS.

So it's more of a brand, as opposed to an actual OS.

Many of you at this point might be thinking, yea well how many people really even use Unix?

Well you might be surprised that there's at least one very popular operating system that

is indeed a true Unix OS.

Do you know what it is?

It's Mac!

Yes, Mac OS is one of many "flavors" of Unix.

So hopefully now you'll see why I needed to explain all that backstory, and it will become

even more important soon.

Though besides Mac, there really isn't any other Unix operating system we'd be interested

in, because any others would mostly just be used in enterprise systems, like servers,

super computers, mainframes, and that sort.

And I want to focus on ones we can actually use.

So, if you were to ask anyone to name a desktop operating system besides Windows or Mac, probably

everyone will say "Linux".

But as I mentioned before, there is no actual operating system you can just download and

install called "Linux".

Because that actually refers to the Linux Kernel.

Now hold on, if you have no idea what I'm talking about let me explain.

The kernel of an operating system is basically like its core.

The kernel is what directly interacts with the hardware of the computer, such as the

CPU and RAM, and allows them to interact with any applications.

It's essentially the main bridge between hardware and software.

So any time a program is running on your computer, the Kernel is what passes everything to and

from the CPU so it can actually run.

So as you can imagine, there can be many varieties of Linux operating systems, called distributions

or "distros", all using the Linux Kernel.

If you're wondering if it's a coincidence that Linux sounds a lot like Unix, it's not.

The Linux kernel was "heavily inspired" by Unix you might say, and was written by a guy

named Linus Torvalds.

And Linus named it by combining his name with "Unix", resulting in "Linux".

This is why you may have heard Linux referred to as a "Unix-like" operating system.

It's very similar, but not exactly the same.

Ok ok ok, enough of the history lesson, we haven't even talked about any other operating

systems you guys can use yourself.

Well there is one more family of Operating systems we'll talk about afterwards, but for

now, let's go over some popular Linux distros.

If you're aware of any Linux distros at all, then you've probably at least heard of Ubuntu.

It's one of many many free Linux distros, and has been heavily marketed towards more

casual, mainstream users.

You might even call it the "Mac of Linux".

If you've never used a Linux operating system before, you'll probably be pleasantly surprised

to find out the visual experience at least isn't too much different from what you're

used to.

Of course under the hood things get significantly more complicated, and you're often left having

to get your hands dirty, and you'll definitely be using the terminal a lot.

Then there's Debian OS, which Ubuntu is actually a derivative of.

Debian has an enormous catalog of software in what are known as official "repositories",

so any distros based on Debian can also use this catalog to easily install almost any

program automatically.

Debian's website describes it as "The Universal Operating System", and one of the main selling

points is that it apparently wants to support as wide a range of hardware and user levels

as possible.

Though it's still probably not as easy to use as Ubuntu.

Then there's another popular one called Linux Mint, which is a derivative of Ubuntu, so

also going back to Debian again.

Even though it's based off Ubuntu, it differs in a lot of ways.

For example, Mint's user interface will remind you a lot more of Windows, whereas Ubuntu

is closer to Mac.

But even though mint is more familiar visually, a lot of people still find Ubuntu easier to

use once they figure out the basics of navigating it.

The Ubuntu vs Mint debate is a heated one, so I don't think you can say that one is necessarily

better than the other.

But Mint might actually end up being better for those who are a bit more tech savvy in

the first place.

Another well known Distro you may have heard of is called Fedora, which like Debian is

one of the major "branches" of Linux that many distros are based on.

It's updated very frequently, and is considered "bleeding edge".

So in terms of new innovation, Fedora is probably where things will show up first.

One interesting thing about Fedora is that it requires all software in it's official

repositories to be free.

This can be good or bad depending on how you look at it.

There's nothing stopping you from installing proprietary software, but you'll have to go

out of your way a bit.

It's not like it's a difficult operating system, but it's definitely not good for the average

consumer who can barely even work Windows.

And the final Linux distro we can mention is CentOS, which is focused on Enterprise

use.

And this is also part of the Fedora family.

It was made to pretty much just be a free version of another Distro, Red Hat Enterprise

Linux.

So you'd expect this to be used a lot in business environments, servers, and commercial settings.

The main difference between CentOS and Red Hat Enterprise is that Red Hat has paid support,

which might obviously be useful if it's being used by a business.

So those are just a small handful of Linux distros, in only two major families, Debian

and Fedora.

But there are literally hundreds of other distros out there.

Alright, now we've talked about Unix and Linux, but there's one more set of operating systems

we'll need to cover.

And that is BSD, or "Berkeley Software Distribution".

And like Linux, BSD is ALSO a derivative of Unix.

However, BSD is much more closely related to Unix than Linux, because BSD was created

using the original Unix code.

Another difference from Linux is that BSD is not just a kernel, but had been created

as a complete operating system.

Now just like Unix itself, there isn't a single "official" BSD.

The operating system known simply as "BSD" stopped development many years ago, and several

different branches came off of it.

The three most widely used today are called FreeBSD, OpenBSD, and NetBSD.

And even though one is called FreeBSD, all of them are actually free.

BSD distros in general are not for the faint of heart, and really isn't on par with Linux

in terms of user friendlyness.

However, BSD is usually considered a MUCH more robust and reliable.

So for the most part, these are usually used for servers, as opposed to desktop.

The only exception would be a distro called "TrueOS", which is a derivative of FreeBSD,

and was specifically made as a desktop OS.

There is a lot of overlap between the BSD distros, but there are differences.

In general, FreeBSD focuses on use in servers and to some extent desktops.

Like I said, because BSD is extremely reliable and scales well, you'll usually see it on

high end servers, and those that have to handle a ton of traffic.

NetBSD is made to work on as many platforms and devices as possible, and this even includes

toasters.

So anything from amd64, i386, ARM, and a ton of other architectures.

OpenBSD on the other hand focuses on maximum security.

In fact, it's regarded as THE most secure operating system currently available, because

it was created from the start with that purpose.

So a typically you'll see OpenBSD running on internet-facing devices such as firewalls,

routers, VPN gateways, you get the idea.

Of course, don't assume that just because you install it that you can't get hacked.

OpenBSD requires a lot of knowledge to configure correctly to be secure, and if you don't know

what you're doing, it might not be as safe as you think.

So now we've gone over several operating system choices you have.

For beginners, the easiest choice would probably be Ubuntu, but if you're willing to do a bit

more tweaking, you can go with Linux Mint.

Debian is what those are based off of so that is another choice, but maybe after you've

played around with the others a bit.

If you consider yourself pretty tech savvy and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty,

you could go with Fedora if you want to be on the cutting edge.

And if you think you can benefit more from a business-oriented OS, especially for a server,

you might look into CentOS.

But of course, many distros, including Ubuntu, also have server versions.

If you really want to get in the trenches, you could go with a BSD distro.

I personally would probably want to get familiar with something like Linux first, because it

will get you used to configuring things yourself a bit more often.

FreeBSD is probably a good place to start, or better yet perhaps TrueOS for a desktop.

NetBSD and OpenBSD are an option, but I don't think it would make sense to install either

of those unless you had a specific reason to.

So with all that, I'm gonna hope you at least learned a thing or two.

Or maybe you never heard of any of these, who knows.

You can just let me know what you think in the comments.

If you want to keep watching, I'll put some other videos right here, you can just click

on them.

And if you want to subscribe, I make a few new videos every week.

Also consider enabling notifications as well, otherwise YouTube literally won't show you

the new videos at all anyway.

So, as usual thanks for watching, I'll see you next time, have a good one.
