2018 Reading Goals - Duration: 7:45.

Hi everyone. I'm rincey and this is rincey reads. Today i'm going to be

talking about my 2018 reading goals. So I've been thinking a lot about what I

want to do with my reading in 2018. I don't know if it's just like general

fatigue from the year but the idea of like setting a whole bunch of reading

goals just does not appeal to me at the moment and it hasn't really for a while.

I made a couple of videos actually over at the book riot channel talking

about like how I make my reading goals and why I make my reading goals and sort

of like the purpose behind all of them. And so I've been, you know, thinking about

reading goals and my whole situation and I am still gonna make a couple, but I'm

going to make them kind of like very loose reading goals. And all of my

reading goals have always been like extremely loose and I don't hold

myself like crazy accountable to them. Like I don't get really hard on myself

if I don't accomplish them just because they're just reading goals. It's not that big

of a deal if I don't accomplish them. So last year I had three reading goals.

One of them was to do the 2017 read harder challenge, one of them was to read 20% or

more international authors. and one of them was to read The Brothers Karamazov.

So I read The Brothers Karamazov earlier this year so that's definitely done.

I'm working on the 2017 reading challenge still so that may or may not get

accomplished. But I finished a pretty decent chunk of it. I don't think I'm at

the 20% mark with international authors. I might be but it's going to be like

relatively close to that. But I mean, it's fine. I read some but I definitely did

not read as many international authors as I originally hoped for mostly because

by the end of the year I wasn't even trying to. So I think what I want to do

in the upcoming year is to do sort of like, I don't want to say quarterly goals

because my goals might stay the same throughout the year. But I kind of want

to do like quarterly assessments of my goals to see what I want to accomplish.

Because a lot of what I'm thinking about these days are like specific types of

books I want to make sure that I'm reading. Or not make sure that I'm

reading but to like prioritize over other books in the upcoming year. So my

first goal as it always is is to do the read harder challenge. And so that's

going to be one that's going to be going on throughout the entire year. And I

think checking in with it quarterly will help me stay on track and have me like

not reading eight books that have to do with the read harder challenge in

December. I'm gonna have a link down in the description to the 2018 read harder

challenge. I'm also going to have a link to the

Goodreads group down below. So if you are interested in doing the challenge and

you want suggestions for books, there is a Goodreads group where a bunch of

different people put in their suggestions. There are also going to be

videos over on the book riot channel next year about the read harder

challenge. So if you aren't already subscribed, you can do that. And then

they're also going to be posts up about the read harder challenge on the book

riot website over the course of the next couple of months. If you need suggestions

or you need recommendations because you're planning on doing the read harder

challenge, look out for those because we will be providing you -- we, meaning people

at book riot -- will be provided you with suggestions

for all the different challenges. I really like this year's challenge. I like

the topics. They are gonna be a challenge for me because these are not books that

I naturally would pick up throughout the course of this year. But I think that it

feels more accessible in my opinion. So yeah, I'm really excited for it. I've

already started jotting down a couple of books I can read for some of the

different challenges. So yeah definitely going to do that one. And then the other

major goal I'm going to make for myself is to try to read Pulitzer prize-winning

nonfiction books. So I've been thinking about this a lot in like the last third

of the year or so. I've been picking up some non-fiction books and I've been

really enjoying them and realizing a lot of times that they were either nominated

or won the Pulitzer Prize within the last like decade or so. And I've always

been someone who paid attention to the politics of prize it's my favorite prize

for nonfiction. It's up there in terms of like one of my favorite prizes period in

terms of the nonfiction because it's always consistently so great in my

opinion for like the types of books I like to read. There's always one winner

and two sort of runners-up for every year. So I put them all in a spreadsheet

from the most recent year down to I think like 2012 or 2010 possibly is in

my spreadsheet. And so I'm just gonna go through them throughout the course of

the year and try to read as many of them as possible. A bunch of them, not a bunch,

maybe like five of them I've already read so far. In my head right now I'm

thinking I can read at least one of those per month and that'll get me

through you know the last like four or five years worth of nominations and

winners. But yeah, it's a good way to incorporate more in nonfiction into my

reading life and it's going to be nonfiction that I know I'm going to

enjoy. So hopefully I'll pick up at least one of those per month and that'll be

like a good sort of insert of .eally interesting different types of non-fiction/

All right and then usually I pick one big book that I'm going to tackle over

the course of like August. It's usually a classic fiction book of some sort. Last

year was Brothers Karamazov, I've previously done war and peace and Moby Dick and

Middlemarch. I'm thinking this year it's gonna be the three musketeers. But I

don't have a copy of it yet and I also am not 100% sure because I feel like my

reading tastes have been evolving or what I've been in the mood for has been

evolving a lot. And I really like the idea of like reading more bigger

slightly more intimidating books. Like I can do it. As you guys could tell by

like my wrap ups and stuff. I read a decent amount. I'm not like reading 20

books a month but I'm reading more than like five usually these days. So throwing

in a really large non-fiction book just feels really great or even just a really

large book in general. And so it might depend, it might be one of the pulitzer

prize winners because sometimes those are a little bit on the longer side. But

I think what I'm going to do is sort of take a longer book that I'm constantly

always reading one. In the beginning of the year I think I'm going to try to

pick up John Adams by David McCullough to sort of keep going with the

presidential thing. Maybe I'll keep picking up presidential biographies

throughout this year. I don't know. We'll see. Or maybe by the summer time I'll

want that fiction book and then I'll pick up three musketeers. But for

the most part I'm trying to keep my reading relatively loose. Like there are

certain parameters that I always hold myself to. I always try to read a certain

number of authors of color. I do still want to pick up some international books.

And I definitely want to try to work on my own personal TBR. My goal with my TBR is

just to make sure the number of unread books that I have is always under 50.

I'm currently sitting at like 52 I think because I had gotten some books in the

mail. So yeah I think I want to do quarterly check-ins with my goals and

then sort of see how I'm feeling, how I'm doing with them, and if I want to make

any adjustments or changes to them. I mean, it's very possible that I'll think

of something in like May and want to incorporate that into my reading and I

can because you know we're not held to be used these standards of only having

goals in January and only being able to complete them in December. Like I want to

have more flexibility with my reading goals and I want to sort of do more

regular assessments on my reading goals. Like previously I used to do like

regular check-ins. I don't think I'm gonna do like a monthly

check-in. But quarterly seems like a good amount of time to give me a chance to do

some of the goals and see how I feel about it. Yeah this was a little bit

longer, a little more ramble-y than I wanted it to be. But I kind of wanted to

explain my whole thought process behind reading goals for 2018. I want to change

it up a little bit, do something a little bit different. I definitely don't want to

do like strict TBR's every month or anything like that.

But I think that with the read harder challenge and with trying to pick up

like a Pulitzer Prize winner and with trying to pick up like longer books,

that'll provide enough like structure. But I don't want to again make strict

TBR's because I hate that and that'll make reading that fun for me. So yeah,

that's all I've got. Two goals really but some, a couple of other sort of like

periphery goals this is sort of how I'm thinking about this. Feel free to leave a

comment down below letting you know if you have set your reading goals for next

year, if you're planning on setting any reading goals for this next year. Or if

you're going to just see where the year takes you, that's cool too. Or if you're

doing the read harder challenge, definitely let me know down below.

So yeah that's all I have for now and thanks for watching.

Travel Tips: Things to do in Japan | SUMMER - Duration: 13:41.

Hey guys!

So today's video is going to be a continuation of my Travel Tips series about traveling in

Japan.

Even though I don't live in Japan any more, I feel like living there for years I got to

experience some really incredible things, and I wanna helps other people experience

Japan in the best way that they can.

So this part of the Travel Tips series is going to be seasonal, and I'm going to start

with my top five summer activities in Japan, or at least that I experienced.

And of course this is going to be my personal opinion, but I just hope that it'll give you

some ideas of what you could do in Japan in each season.

I'm gonna start with summer because I feel like this is about six months from peak summer

time in Japan, so hopefully that'll give you enough time to watch this video and then maybe

like look things up and organise travel plans and things like that.

If there are any relevant videos that I've made about the different activities that I'm

going to mention, I will either link them up here in a little annotation, or I will

link them in the description below, 'cause I think there's gonna be like too many source

videos, so I'll probably list some in the description below as well.

Okay, let's get into it!

My number one summer activity in Japan will come as a surprise to absolutely no one who

knows me at all, and that is beaches.

Japan has gorgeous ocean all up and down the country, and in pretty much and prefecture

you go to that isn't completely landlocked, you'll find some amazing beaches.

Just Google "best beaches in X prefecture" and you'll find something incredible.

Now beaches seems pretty simple and self-explanatory, but there are a couple of things that you

should be aware of, like differences that I noticed from New Zealand and England beaches

to Japanese beaches.

The first is opening dates and opening hours.

Now, I don't know how this works in other countries, in New Zealand and England, beaches

are just like...open.

'cause they're beaches.

In Japan that's not always the case, a lot of beaches will have opening dates and they'll

only be open during summer.

Um, so this is kind of frustrating, or at least it was to me, because Japanese spring

weather is really hot, and it would have been great to go swimming, but most beaches are

just closed during spring and only open like July-ish.

So definitely check the opening dates of any beach that you're planning to go to, if it's

not full on summer, it might not be open.

And the other thing is that even during the open dates, a lot of beaches have opening

hours.

So often it's from like 10AM to like 8PM or something like that, so just be aware of that,

because like I said, I'm not quite sure how it is in other countries, but in New Zealand

like...I was very very surprised, let's put it like that.

When I went to try and go for an evening swim and the beach was locked up, I was like "oh...that's

weird".

Um, so definitely Google the hours for any beach that you're planning on going to.

Uh, the next thing that is very different, or at least for me, is tattoos.

Some beaches will ask you to leave if you have very visible tattoos.

Now, I have five tattoos, but they're all like...very small, and so I was always fine,

I've never even been looked at a beach for having tattoos, because most people don't

notice them.

However, if you have a lot of large, visible tattoos, that are visible in a bathing suit

then you might wanna try and check out the culture of the specific beach that you're

thinking of going to.

I say that, but it's really hard because some beaches are totally chill about it, and some

aren't and it's very difficult to know which is which.

I think you'll be fine at most touristy beaches, because they're used to foreigners with lots

of tattoos, but just like be aware that this might happen, I guess is the best thing I

can say.

The other thing is that beaches get super super crowded, as you would expect in a highly

populated country.

So the most popular beaches might be not your best option if you're not into crowds.

Um, I had a lot of luck not going to like Shirahama or like the super famous beaches

but going to some of the smaller beaches, um, and I really liked that because I prefer

a less perfect beach with less people, if that makes sense.

So if you're not super into crowds, try that.

If you don't mind crowds at all then go to the most popular beaches 'cause they do tend

to be the most beautiful.

Um...apart from that there's not terribly much else to say...oh!

Two more things: Jellyfish and weather.

So a lot of beaches in Japan have like a month or a couple of weeks where jellyfish will

be brought in by the tides, so most beaches will say on their website when that is.

Especially Okinawa, there's like a couple of weeks where the whole sea is just infested

with jellyfish.

So make sure that you check that out.

And the other thing is that during summer in Japan often you get typhoons, and sometimes

that just seems like rain and it seems like it would be really nice to go swimming in...don't.

It can be super super dangerous to go swimming in a typhoon, even if it seems like it's not

windy, it's just rainy.

So just like avoid that, it's not worth it.

Not worth the risk.

Um, apart from that...I guess like my recommendation for beaches has to be Okinawa, like the snorkeling

and the warm sea in Okinawa is just like the best, but if you're not looking to go that

far afield there are just gorgeous beaches everywhere, as I say, and I don't think I'll

ever be as useful as Google, so just Google the best beach in whichever prefecture you're

in and go, you will not regret it.

It's such...just amazing, especially 'cause it's so hot in Japanese summer.

Okay, so that's number one.

My second recommendation is fireworks festivals.

Summer is the season of fireworks in Japan and there are just fireworks festivals, there

were hundreds even just the Nara Prefecture where I lived.

Um, and they're all incredible, I think.

It's just a really amazing experience.

My two absolute favourites that I went to were the PL Art of Fireworks display and also

the Tenjin Matsuri in Osaka, and they're just really really good.

Japan does fireworks really really well.

Um, so some advice for going to fireworks festivals: You want to arrive early if you

want a good spot, um, as I mentioned with the beaches, things get really really crowded

because Japan is just a heavily populated country, so try to arrive early if you want

to get a really good viewing spot.

If you're not too bothered by that then arriving late is fine.

I used to just arrive late and just stand wherever, because standing outside for hours

and hours in the super humid weather was not very fun for me.

Um, however, if you do want a good spot, I would recommend taking a picnic blanket or

rug, loads of people do this, like just arrive at midday with lunch and drinks and a picnic

blanket and like a little cooler and just sit there the whole day and wait for the fireworks.

It seems like a lot of people make a day trip out of it, which is really cool.

You can even take like folding chairs and things, you won't look weird at all, like

80% of people I would say have a whole set-up going.

So definitely do that if you're into like making a day of things, um, yeah I think that's

a really great idea.

Also make sure that you have a lot of cooling stuff with you.

So you'll want sunscreen, possibly like a cooling spray, a fan, cold drinks...just make

sure you're staying hydrated, because summer in Japan is super hot and humid as I've mentioned

many times before, but especially for fireworks festivals, because a lot of people do arrive

so early, a lot of people end up getting heat exhaustion or even heat stroke from waiting

out in the sun for a long time, so just make sure that you're really prepared for that.

I don't think there's terribly much other advice I can give, just like go and enjoy

the fireworks, 'cause maybe...well, I bet fireworks are really great in a lot of countries,

but coming from New Zealand where we have like one fireworks display a year and it's

no that great, this was like mind blowing to me.

My third recommendation is a food recommendation.

There's a ton of great food in Japan in summer, especially fresh fruits like watermelon are

really really popular, but my personal recommendation is nagashi soumen.

Nagashi soumen is...it means flowing noodles, and basically it's cooked soumen noodles that

are put into a river of cold flowing water, and then you scoop them up with chopsticks

and dip them into cold soy-based broth and eat them.

And it's a really fun way to eat food, and you can also a lot of people put like fruits

and vegetables down the flowing water as well.

It's just like...it's like an eating event, I guess.

So a lot of Japanese families will do this during summer at their homes, so you can either

get yourself an invite to that like I managed to and was so so grateful for 'cause it was

a really incredible cultural experience.

Um, or if you are just visiting Japan and you can't go to someone's house, there are

a bunch of restaurants that open up during summer or serve nagashi soumen exclusively

during summer.

Especially in Kyoto in like the centre of Kyoto by the river, there are like a ton of

nagashi soumen restaurants where you can eat flowing noodles while watching the flowing

water of the river and it's really amazing.

So yeah, it's just like...I don't know, it's just like such a fun mixture between like

culture and food and like socialising.

I don't know, it's just a really great experience, highly recommend it, like a very...um, foreign

thing to me, something that I'd never ever done before and I thought that was really

fun.

My fourth recommendation is going to apply to people who are exchange students in Japan

or people who are teaching, and that is school festivals.

So my two absolute favourite school festivals both happen during summer, and that is the

Sports Festival, which happens exclusively in summer in pretty much every school that

I know of, and then Bunkasai or Cultural Festival, which it's kind of a toss-up whether that

happens in summer or in November, around Culture Day, it just depends on the school.

So Sports Day is exactly what it sounds like, everyone just like plays sports.

My school also had a Dodgeball Festival, I'm not quite sure if that's like a normal thing,

but that happened in summer too, and that was another of my favourites.

It's just like all the kids get to play in teams and they get to play all sorts of different

games, and it's just great fun to watch, it's great fun to participate in, if they have

a teachers' relay or like a teachers' tug of war, you can join in, or if you're an exchange

student you'll be joining in with all the games, so good luck to you!

Uh, it's just a really really great way to experience your school's culture and get to

know your students or your, um, fellow peers a bit better if you're an exchange student.

I just absolutely loved it.

And then Cultural Festival is probably my absolute favourite.

There will be a whole lot of food stands made up by the different classes where you can

go and buy food, and all of the proceeds will go back into the school, or like to that specific

class.

There will be different games and all the different classes will put on presentations.

You might get some musical presentations in the gym, or if you have like a presentation

hall then you'll get that.

Um, often Bunkasai is over two days, I actually have a whole video about it, so I'll link

that up here somewhere.

Often Bunkasai is over two days, so the first day you'll get like the formal Bunkasai which

is often held outside the school in like a hall, and then the second day is like the

"fun" Bunkasai.

Um, if you are a teacher or if you are a student involved in any clubs, you will be expected

to do your like club activity, whatever that is, for Bunkasai.

We did tongue twisters one year in English, and then I did like New Zealand foods the

next year.

So yeah, that was really fun.

But yeah, schools have some great great festivals, your school might have different festivals

from mine, so just like be ready for a kind of interesting schedule for school during

summer.

My fifth and final recommendation is very specific.

I've tried to keep things quite broad up until this point, because as I mentioned at the

start, I had difficulty paring down to a top five, so I kind of cheated and had a lot of

things in very broad categories.

However, this one is one that I couldn't miss out even though it's an oddly specific thing,

and that is the Ofusa Kannon wind chime festival.

Now this was one of the last things I did before I left Japan, and I didn't find it

until my last year in Japan which was really disappointing, because I would have gone every

year if I could have.

It was one of the most magical experiences i've ever had in my life, and it was just

incredible.

So if you haven't seen my video, which I'll link up here somewhere, the Ofusa Kannon Shrine

in Nara Prefecture is like pretty close to the centre of Nara, you can just get a train

a little while out of Nara and then walk for a bit and you'll find it, and during summer

for a whole month, they have a wind chime festival where they hang up just so many wind

chimes, and the sound is amazing.

Like, I thought it would be really loud and quite overwhelming and I was a bit nervous

about it 'cause I'm not super good with loud noises, but it wasn't loud at all it was just...magic.

I don't know how else to describe it, it was magic.

So if you happen to be around the Kansai area in summer, check out this festival, it was...I

don't know if I can say the best festival that I went to in Japan, 'cause I feel like

I went to so many amazing festivals, but honestly, if I had to pick one that was just incredible,

it would be this one.

It was amazing.

It sounds weird to say, because it's such a simple festival and it seems like such a

basic concept, but hopefully you'll see what I mean if you end up going there.

So yeah, that's my last recommendation, the wind chime festival, it was just amazing and

I really hope that you can make it there.

That's it for my top five summer activity recommendations for anyone in Japan, whether

it's visiting or living there.

I really hope that this has been helpful for you and that you can plan out some of these

activities for summer, and that you really enjoy your summer in Japan.

My next video in this series will be autumn's top five activities, of course.

It only makes sense, right?

So I hope that you guys will tune in for that as well.

Thanks so much for watching, and I will talk to you next time.

Peace!

video on the Avengers Marvel infinity war so it's been about two weeks since

they released a trailer maybe a bit longer and the speculation and height is

still massive force movie so right at our trailer we see Tony Stark aka Iron

Man holding someone's hand that looks burn possibly someone's died it just

looks destroyed at least the case scenario so there's a lot of theories

going around about who Tony Stark's could actually be holding and the first

kind of person I think you shouldn't rule out is the fact that Tony Stark

could be hold in his own hand work with me guys because we know that later on or

before this trailer we see if Thanos absolutely smashing Iron Man in the Iron

Man suit in the face so it most likely could B's own hand but I think a more

reliable and more obvious choice would be it's actually Peter Parker aka

spider-man's hand why because in a previous trailer we've seen spider-man

at the saying he's sorry for letting the Tony Stark down and we do see in the

trailer we see famos doing a rock bottom on a Peter Parker so most likely it will

actually be Peter Parker and yes we know that Spy that the next spider-man movie

is coming after Avengers infinity War part 2 I guess you could say and also

another candidate that people are all that is it could actually be a war

machine I'm just throwing out there it could be one of them I mean I don't

think anyone's actually going to die but it's a quite interesting talking point

about whose hand is Tony holding I mean personally could just be holding his own

hand it's just gonna be an interesting scene

I think it's personally I think he's holding his own hand some people saying

it's pepper pepper tan but she's rumored to begin her own

costume a suit in Avengers 4 so I don't actually think it could be that so

recently obviously Marvel well this Walt Disney Corporation have bought Fox so

there's a lot of speculation that Wolverine is coming to the MCU Hugh

Jackman recently said that the ship has sailed for him which is quite sad but

pretty sure if Marvel really Disney Marvel really wanted Hugh Jackman back

as Wolverine then they could convince him to do a brief cameo but I still

think it would ruin load the ending of loathe and it would severely ruin the

ending of Logan so this is nothing new but a lot of people are cast in Tom

Hardy who played Bane in the Dark Knight I believe it was he's playing a venomous

spider man could he also play Wolverine I think he actually I'm gonna put some

fanart over the top right now there's so much

fan art that actually makes Tom Hardy look like he could be the new Wolverine

so guys who do you think should be the next Wolverine I know everyone's gonna

say they can't recast about the end and a Superman a Batman they're constantly

okay not constantly battling gets recasted but what I'm saying is any

superhero could be recasted even though a few Jaclyn has been Wolverine for like

the last 17 years sadly he's gonna be recasted as someone else and I think Tom

Hardy would be a pretty solid person although Tom Hardy is actually quite oh

well he's not old he's a he's getting on a bit now and the reason why Hugh

Jackman won't do it is because he goes out in Logan I mean Tom Hardy is 40 he

was born in 1977 so 40 years old is kind of old to take on the Wolverine

if they're looking for a fresh younger person I guess you could say I'm really

interested to find out if they are gonna recast him because according to certain

sources they say that none of the x-men are going to be recasted whereas to

Jackman's 49 years old compared to 40 so I don't think Tom Hardy being Wolverine

would actually be a good move to be honest but anyway guys this is just a

video about a theory that I think Tony Stark's actually hold in spider-man's

hand or his own hand whose hand do you think spider Tony Stark is actually

holding and if they do recast Wolverine who would you like it to be anyway guys

please like subscribe and comment hit that notification button down below to

join Team war shoot aka of the warheads and I will catch you in another video

very soon any video requests comment down below and we'll see you in another

video very soon guys catch ya later

LPS Mermaid Memories Episode 9 "Clam Before the Storm" | Alice LPS - Duration: 12:52.

She's probably busy or something

but we were best friends she can always make time for me

right?

Did anything happen in your dream?

Nothing I havent seen before

but, I feel better now and I'm ready to find this grey cat.

Let's find her

Hahaha

How cute?

The lost princess out looking for another lost girl.

well I'm afraid the cat you're looking for is gone forever!

*magic noises*

Kiara are you okay?

*Magic noises*

No.

RUN!

*Magic Noises*

hahaha

*ghasp*

Hey Kiara isn't opal with you?

Hey isn't Opal with you?

Actually...

Is she sick or something?

I can get you guys the correct land medication for that.

She's gone...

Gone?

umm?

What happened to her kiara?

We were under water and ... and

What did you do to her?

I did nothing I just sat there and watched her fade away...

I don't know where she is anymore...

You should have done something!

You were there and you have so much magic you could have saved her!

I know!

It's okay..

you're really gonna stand there and defend the daughter of the person who's

trying to kill us?

I dunno...

You're probably apart of a bigger plan or something and we just welcomed warmly to our friend group. What a traitor.

I guess I'm always gonna be seen as the bad guy I should get used to being

lonely huh?

Kiara?

Kiara?

Ashley?

Look... I know were not super close or anything,

To be honest we've never really spoken to each other but I wanted to say I know how it is to

lose someone close to you.

Me and Opal were so happy and I just stood by and

watched her disappear.

Don't listen to Gabriela. She never

thinks before she speaks and forgets how others feel.

I can see that

I don't really know how to say this but I've got no one else to turn to

well it's not like I do either.

Well... I feel like I've lost my purpose.Gabriella

has forgotten about me moved on to Hannah

I can help you somehow?

Well.. how about I teach you magic and in return you help

me save opal?

Yes...Please!

Where are you going, the bells about to ring?

You think I'm gonna waste my time here when Opal needs saving ?

Oh yeah?

you're coming with me right?

Don't you think a teacher will see us leaving?

Or we'll get in trouble?

I think you forget that I'm the daughter of the most

powerful mage under the sea oh right you sure you got this though please Ashley i

Oh right! You sure you got this tho?

*Pfft* Please Ashley

I brainwashed Gabriella for two days straight and she let me live in her

house you think I can't handle a couple of teachers oh right then what are we

Oh right! Then what are we waiting for!

Hey Gabby.. I don't see Kiara anywhere... shes not in her seat.

Maybe she's just late or something?

You don't think we were a little too hard on her this morning?

What are you talking about?

Could you blame me? she tried to kill me before!

I guess...

we were all getting on so well ...

She brainwashed me in the past.

In the past.

what if she did change?

Who knows I guess she'll need to prove it!

Their seats empty there just kind of make me feel a little guilty.

it's a desk quit worrying

Okay this is my room we can chill in here.

Woah! You're pretty minimalistic?

Yeah I guess I'm used to it since I grew up in a cave.

Oh yeah, I forget that sometimes!

Let's start with.....

Levitation!

No! Teleportation!

NO!

MIND CONTROL!

whoa whoa how about you learn to charge magic first then we can work on

actual spells .

oh yeah sorry this is just all so exciting!

Well , the first thing is breathing you can't be in a panic you have to have an open mind so

breathe in and out.

Breathing in ... and out

you're getting the hang of it

*uhm*

Another important thing for casting

spells is having...

I bet they haven't even noticed I wasn't at school today...

Huh?

Ahhh don't worry!

No Ashley you should tell me doing magic when you're angry or upset

can make dark magic and that's not a good time do you look angry you're upset

I guess not but I'm here if you need to talk I

didn't notice you being by yourself a lot recently and I know what it's like

I've been alone my whole life and when I finally make a friend she's taken away

so that's why I'm so focused on getting opal I guess well at least someone

noticed but we have each other now right so how did you get this magic thing working?

Oh right!

*tries a spell*

Did it work?

Don't worry you won't get it straight

away magic takes time yeah let's try again

Right!

*distracted*

Look Ashley, we can't start like this...

Huh?

you clearly have something on your mind and when casting spells you need a clear head.

I feel useless so useless, pointless in fact I have always relied on Gabbie but

now looking back it was just Hannah's replacement and now she's back to being

best friends why would she need to talk to me I get it

I am forgettable, small, talentless. I haven't achieved anything with my life I

spend all my time trying to make Gabriella happy I need to become

stronger, better and individual and if I can't change that then what's the point

in carrying on?

Oh Ashley...

it's fine

Please Kiara, I want to become a new version of myself.

Where am I?

Huh?

finally you're awake I thought you were

stronger than this princess what have you done? Where's Kiara? you have feelings

for that runt she's useless now why would you take her she's probably on

land or something grieving you! Grieving am I dead?

no no but you may as well be huh good luck escaping this place no one ever has

where are we an empty void it's a time line with no physical appearance a

bunker for our original forms to rest to exist forever. original forms? Then what's

happened to us? We have made someone new someone stronger than we could have ever

been separated! I don't understand? we've fused you idiot how Fusion was a

we've fused you idiot !

How? Fusion was a magical myth no one's ever done it. a magical myth are you for real if

a magical myth are you for real?

If someone were to fuse how would you even know? huh? tell me you runt!

I suppose...

no one will ever know and we will rot in this white world for the rest of our

miserable lives .

Kiara knows!

You're really putting all your faith in that useless

cat she can't even fulfill a simple capture

mission let alone save you.

my father he will know I'm missing I'm the heir to

the throne! are you really the heir to the throne anymore? huh ?technically our

fusion is the heir no no once your father is dead we will make this kingdom

rot like I had to when I was sentenced that horrid jail cell for 17 miserable

years

No...

excuse my intrusion my king but this is an emergency. what is the emergency?

They're was a report of explosions and attacks on the outskirts of town. oh no it must

be ... yes we assume it's him he must be nearby send out search parties to find

him is it clear who he attacked yet no it's uncertain are there any missing

mermaid reports any Hospitalised civilians. not from last night's attack

times or today. Well increase the security on Atlantica we can't have any

more accidents. send out search parties for the loose criminal and tell me as

soon as possible when you make here from Opal. I can't lose another family

member, my prized daughter. we will do everything in our power your highness

wait I'm going to help search.

I won't allow it. you can't stop me I'm the king

and if something were to happen to you I'm afraid you wouldn't be if putting my

life on the line is worth protecting opal then so be it

think of the kingdom with the most powerful criminal out on the loose

attacking innocents I was strongly suggest you stay here where it's safe

I'm afraid you would be a strong target. come on let's save Atlantica

Atom RPG - Steam Early Access - Preview - Isometric RPG - Duration: 9:13.

Atom Preview

Welcome to the Preview for Atom RPG which released in Steam Early Access.

The game is developed and published by the aptly named atom team (yes indeed..) and they

were kind enough to sent me a key for this preview.

Now i did a first look for the kickstarter demo of this game.

The game went on to have a successful kickstarter and a pretty smooth early access release.

The game gets inspiration from games like the old fallouts (the isometric ones) , deus

ex, the stalker games and more and it will be rather evident when you go through atom

that it's a love letter to the best the genre has to offer.

There is a manual saving system and you can save whenever you want but for some reason

it is limited to 5 slots only.

Hopefully the limit is removed in the final version or at least becomes much bigger for

people that want to have a lot of different save files.

But first things first.

The bombs fell and the world ended.

In 1986.

You are one of the survivors.

You belong to a group called (wait for it).

Atom.

Your group's missions is to find, restore and secretly introduce old and new technologies

to the survivors.

You are sent out to the wasteland to find a missing expedition that went to explore

a pre-war bunker.

Perhaps predictably you start the game getting ambushed and losing all your stuff (but not

your memories for once ).

Gameplay wise the first thing you will do is create your character.

The character creator offers a few portraits and the usual skills and stats most rpg fans

know and love.

Along with strength endurance dexterity and intellect which should be self evident you

also have things like attention (perception basically in most other games) and personality

(which apart from influencing speechcraft and barter skills also will make people likelier

to open up to you in the game.

One specific instance for example is the leader of the bandits which has a dialogue locked

behind a personality check).

Each skill and characteristic has a tooltip in which you can read what it does and what

it affects.

As far as my playthrough went i did not see any useless skills, all of them appear to

be important.

What is strange is that you don't get any points from leveling up as far as your characteristics

go.

Not even one every few levels.

The only way i found to raise a characteristic was through item usage and i only found one

of those(there might be more of them of course).

Most skills again should be known to everyone that plays this sort of games.

Because your character has gone through specific training in your storyline background you

start with a certain number in all of them which you can then level up in character creation

and every time you gain a level.

Note here that there is a mechanic for gambling and there are various gambling mini games

in game (cards, dice etc) which are influenced by it if you are looking for a way to make

some money.

Getting in game the game divides into two different areas.

One is the overworld where you travel which your character as a giant through the map

by selecting a destination.

Getting close to point of interests will sometimes prompt you to enter the area and explore it.

It seems like a perfectly adequate mechanic for travel to me, though i would like to see

the speed in which you do so increased or introduce a mechanic like pillars of eternity

where you can move faster (while time also passes faster).

There are also some random encounters that happen while in the map section of the game

(like getting ambushed by bandits, mutants or meeting with traders).

Second is the main gameplay area.

Individual maps you can go around exploring like cities, the bunker, abandoned houses

or any other areas.

These are smaller maps, sometimes with multiple levels.

Here is where all the gameplay happens.

Fights, fishing (yes you can fish and food is actually important), exploration of areas,

meeting characters all happen in these smaller areas.

Combat happens in the turn based method.

You have a certain amount of action points and depending on your weapon or action it

depletes them until you either end your turn or the turn ends automatically if you exhausted

all of your points.

All weapons (both melee and ranged) have multiple modes of use.

For example knives can slash or stab or aim and for your ranged weapons you have things

like single or burst fire (and also aiming of course).

Speaking about aiming that not only gives you a better chance to hit an enemy but you

also select the area you want to target.

As usually depending where you hit will produce different effects, different dmg and will

have a lower or higher chance of success.

Actually aiming for a low chance headshot saved my life a couple of times so pick with

care.

Beware you can get addicted depending on the item you use (for example i found myself in

a tense combat situation and i had to use three stimulants i.e healing items in a row

and that got me the addicted effect which has quite a few drawbacks).

There is plenty of loot to be had.

Some important some not so much but feel free to take everything that is not nailed down

:) You will need the money to get weapons (and more importantly ammo for them) and healing

items (including anti radiation, stimulants etc).

There is a weight mechanic though so you will have to juggle a bit what you can carry and

what can sell well.

Thankfully there are different kind of backpacks which will give you more capacity so you can

carry more things before becoming encumbered.

There are quite a few hidden areas which you can find throughout the game so exploration

is heavily recommended if you want some of that sweet loot (and backstory at times).

One of the things i would like to see is merchants getting new merchandise and money as time

passes.

It's quite easy to sell enough items to clean out the merchants in both items and money

and they don't seem to get either ever again afterwards.

There is also a crafting system which seems similar to divinity original sins one.

That means you get a few slots and try to combine things together to make something

new.

I did not find any recipes and through my playthrough did not put enough time into to

crafting so i do not know how useful or not it can be.

There is also a perk system but unlike fallout you do not just pick a perk every few level.

You gain perks through interacting with other characters.

For example there is someone that taught me to dissect mutans and gain parts from them

that i then could use to fish or to sell.

One complaint i have and would love if the developers fixed it is that i feel the camera

is too close to the character.

You can zoom in and out and zooming in is fine but zooming out does not go as far as

it could making it hard to explore areas and hard to see at times.

One of the main strengths of the game for me was the setting (it's nice to explore something

else than the usual american cities).

Atom is filled with eastern european lore and myths.

Atom also does a good job with the world setting making it unsettling at times and have you

feel you are actually exploring something outside of the norm (which i am not going

to spoil for you).

Sound wise the game is perfectly serviceable but apart from the theme song there is not

enough music in the game like fallout (which i would really like to see more of.

Especially since again the different setting makes possible music selection much more interesting).

There is no voice acting so be prepared for a lot of reading.

The writing itself can range between pretty good and interesting to wait what? (this might

be a localisation issue).

There are about 10 hours worth of content in the early access version at the time of

this preview.

The game is also rather cheap about 15 dollars or euros so quite a bargain.

In conclusion if you enjoy isometric games and post apocalyptic ones this is one of the

more unique ones due to the setting and world building.

It's very polished for an early access version (i only encountered a couple of bugs in my

playthrough) and the price is actually low enough to be a no brainer.

Get it and get lost in a post apocalyptic USSR

BREAKING NEWS! Trump HAULED Into FBI – THIS COULD GET UGLY!!! Top Stories Today - Duration: 10:05.

BREAKING NEWS! Trump HAULED Into FBI – THIS COULD GET UGLY!!!

Law enforcement officers always have a tough job, especially those who have to answer to

the political brass.

Getting caught in the middle of a political scandal is as easy as getting takeout in Washington

D.C. and being if that happens, being compromised isn't far behind.

Under the tutelage of Barrack Hussain Obama, this seems to be what has happened to the

bulk of the higher-ups in the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Their credibility came under fire in the wake of Hillary's massive miscarriages of justice,

and their names are far from being cleared.

President Trump began to get an understanding of just how badly things were being run over

at the FBI, even before he was in office, and now that his security clearance is significantly

higher, his hints to the American people about the state of those who are supposed to be

in charge of carrying out justice on our behalf.

Fox News reported that the President addressed just that issue when talking at a Quantico

graduation of this year's new crop of the FBI's best and brightest.

What might seem like a high steaks game of political chess is no laughing matter to the

President, and he plans to clean up the FBI, no matter who he angers along the way:

"President Trump told a graduating class of law enforcement officers at the FBI Academy

on Friday that he 'has your back 100 percent' and pledged his White House will always stand

behind police.

'The president of the United States has your back 100 percent,' Trump said in a

17-minute speech to state and local law enforcement officers who completed [sic] a special training

course at the bureau.

Trump's support for law enforcement has been no secret, but the comments at the FBI

Academy came as bad blood between the White House and bureau has reached an all-time high.

Trump has blasted the bureau's senior leadership and its reputation, calling it "in tatters"

and "the worst in history."

'It's a shame what's happened with the FBI,' Trump said Friday, moments before

he left for Quantico.

'But we're going to rebuild the FBI.

It'll be bigger and better than ever.'

'Everybody — the level of anger at what they've been witnessing with respect to

the FBI is certainly very sad,' he added."

No one thinks that the boots on the ground, responding to crisis and investigating suspicious

deaths are the heart of the problem at the FBI.

This, like most of the problems in our country, is a politically motivated one.

Palms are being greased and backs are being scratched in order for very wealthy and influential

people, such as the Clintons, to get away with things that should be prosecutable offenses.

While some might consider President Trump's comments at the commencement to be aggressive

or offensive in some way, to those who truly want to serve their country and aid in the

carriage of justice, his comments should have been very supportive and reassuring.

He's promising to give those same, honest law enforcement officers a leadership that

they can be proud to serve under.

He's promising to fix what Obama broke and deliver the American people a justice department

that is once again dedicated to justice.

"Newly released documents reveal that then-FBI Director James Comey's draft statement on

the Hillary Clinton email probe was edited in a way that watered down the agency's

findings.

But during his speech, the president praised agents who keep the country safe and whom

he does not blame for the investigations that have dogged his administration.

The White House said Friday newly revealed FBI records show there is an 'extreme bias'

against Trump among senior leadership at the FBI.

Watch The Video :

About 200 leaders in law enforcement from around the country attended the weeks-long FBI National Academy program aimed at raising law enforcement standards and cooperation.

Coursework included intelligence theory, terrorism and terrorist mindsets, law, behavioral science, law enforcement communication, and forensic science.."

The promises that the President has made to fix the corruption in Washington and the FBI have not made him popular with those who've been playing this political game for a long time.

They're very set in their ways, and no matter how hard they search,

they can't seem to find any way to keep president Trump in his lane with the promise of skeletons, the way Washington insiders are usually reigned in.

If we think of the FBI like a body and imagine that body having been fed a steady diet of mind-numbing drugs that keep it from performing its job the way it should,

then we can see President Trump as the parent who's about to check them into rehab.

Drug addicts hate everyone while they're detoxing, but they are free of the physical addiction when the nastiness is purged out.

If they choose to go back to their old ways after they have been detoxed, that's a different matter, but at least they have a chance.

The same will be true for the FBI; if the American people let this investigative body

go back to its toxic ways after President Trump has left office, that will be our own

fault.

His job is to fix everything he possibly can, and leave the FBI and the country better off

than he found it.

what do you think about this?

Armstrong walk out of the building that graces her son's name.

She's upset, but doesn't have much of a chance to grieve before running into former X-Man

and Stark Industries hired gun, Hijack.

Riri hovers above but is soon attacked by the mutant's controlled air defenses.

Meanwhile in Detroit, one of the super criminals Doom is tracking rifles through an apartment

before attacking him, but it appears to be a ruse.

Doom is blasted in return and looks back at a horde of the many that he helped put away.

Back in New York, Riri continues fleeing the Stark helicopters when one of them connects

with a missile.

She powers back up when suddenly, they all stop.

Safely out of Hijack's range, MJ walks up and maces him, giving Riri a chance to take

out the copters and Amanda a chance to attack him.

Back in Detroit, Doom is in trouble.

He's beaten into the air before being attacked.

He does all he can, eventually blasting them with a beam from his chest and making a run

for it.

The remaining villains discuss raiding Latveria for it's riches.

The issue wraps with Amanda and MJ walking into the boardroom of Stark Industries while

Eric Lynch barters for control.

She opens a guitar case and pulls out a piece of rock history, using it to attack the acting

CEO.

She accuses him of trying to take power while her son is missing.

Finally she breaks down, successfully delaying the vote of the board while hoping to spend

the time searching for Tony.

Where he is though remains a mystery, as a man lies elsewhere on a floor encased in an

older Iron Man suit.

Who he is, and where Tony is, will have to wait though.. as this issue is left to be

continued.

So as the Brian Michael Bendis era wraps on this book, it's strange to consider that Tony

will search for a voice that has been so distinctively in the hands of Bendis for so long.

Will the next person that picks up that mantle be able to mold his words as well?

As luck would have it, we'll have a few more issues to eulogize Bendis before he leaves

for DC, and this arc is looking more and more like a classic as well as even harder to replace

the man behind the dialogue.

For this issue, I give it a 9/10.
