Waching daily Dec 21 2017

-Good day to you. -How can I help?

Veysel Şimşek?

That is me.

You've got mail, there you go.

-Thank you. -Have a great day!

Veysel, who's that from?

From Selim, my Tülay!

Is it from Selim?

Veysel, open it!

I wonder what he's written!

My Lord, I hope he has some good news!

Dad,

dear Tülay and İnci,

How are you?

I hope you're doing well.

If you're wondering about us,

we are doing as well as is possible,

while being away from you and homesick.

Imagine, how much we miss you and our homeland.

Now I see how hard it is to deal with distance.

Sometimes I feel furious because of our destiny.

It is burning in my heart. But,

then I pull myself together.

I find consolation in my baby, which is about to be born.

I wish you could see Zeynep's huge belly!

the due date is getting closer, we're all very excited!

That being said, in a matter of time,

you'll be grandmother and grandfather.

You've mentioned that now you're running a wool store.

Everything goes well I hope.

Please tell dear Tülay,

Zeynep wants her to knit our baby's first booties.

My treatment is still going on.

The doctors have been saying that I'm getting better.

And I'm fighting, resisting.

Both for my Zeynep, and my baby.

I'm going to get rid...

of what's been poisoning my brain.

I'm going to get rid of it, with the help of God.

I can't wait for the day to hold my baby.

I wish that I didn't have to write these lines on paper,

and that we could talk face to face.

We could give each other big hugs.

Everything is cut in half here.

Everything.

We're devastated since the day we've heard about the accident.

My mom turned inside of herself.

It's like she's given up on life.

But I don't believe it.

I don't believe that Elif is dead.

I know.

Elif is alive.

She is breathing at some place, staying alive.

She just can't be dead. I believe this with my whole heart.

She was my brother's only heritage, to us.

If I ever get rid of this disease,

if I can get well enough to get to you,

I'll come and find her.

Eventually, I will.

We're a family, shattered by a perfect storm.

I can only wish...

that we all come together one day.

You, us, and Elif.

That's nice!

Why Is Instant Hot Chocolate So Lumpy? - Duration: 1:55.

Instant hot chocolate never seems to want to mix.

Stir as much as you like—you'll never get rid of those lumps of mix.

It's nearly impossible, and all because of starch.

Instant hot chocolate mix often contains several starchy ingredients,

like cocoa powder, milk powder, and corn starch.

When those come into contact with water or milk in your mug,

the outside edges of each chunk expand and seal off the inside,

trapping dry pockets of powder with no way for liquid to reach them.

To break up these blobs, you'd need to trap them between the mug and your spoon—

a tricky task when you're stirring to avoid more lumps.

You can avoid this problem by first pouring just a little heated milk into your instant mix.

This creates a paste where you can apply enough pressure to pop the starch bubbles,

expose them to liquid, and prevent any clusters of mix.

You can use this same technique to make homemade hot chocolate.

And because this recipe doesn't contain as many starches as instant mix,

getting rid of lumps happens early in the process.

Combine cocoa powder, sugar, and salt into a saucepan.

Add a few tablespoons of whole milk, turn the heat on, and stir using a whisk.

The metal wires will help break up those tiny clumps,

and the fat in the milk will help emulsify the whole thing.

Keep stirring until there are no more lumps, then add the rest of the milk.

Add in semi-sweet chocolate chips (or small pieces of a chocolate candy bar) and bring to a simmer.

Stir until it's all melted.

Do NOT bring your mixture to a full-on boil.

That will change the protein structure, and the flavor, of the milk.

For just a little bit more richness, add a touch of vanilla extract.

Whip up some whipped for the top—you can get the recipe on PopSci.com.

Enjoy!

Ahhh.

The New Currency - Duration: 5:18.

(calming music)

You know what we're not going to beat the machines at

is doing things.

You're not going to beat the machines

and the computers at thinking.

Not going to beat them at making things.

So the question then is,

should we even be trying to

keep up with those things?

Should we be trying to keep up

as thinkers alone?

Should we be trying to keep up as doers?

Instead of playing a game that's unwinnable,

what if we just go back to the most uniquely human

of endeavors,

which is creation.

Well instead of trying to win a game that's over,

instead of trying to be the first place, second place,

third place winner in a game that's actually

passing us by,

you can begin to be a practitioner of the new currency.

What is this new currency?

Well it's the only way that any of us is going

to be able to continue to move forward,

not only to survive but to thrive,

to actually grow in the most uniquely

of human ways possible.

This new currency is not gold

or oil or guns or money or land.

This new currency

starts with the most

human of energies.

Your intuition.

And this is the first piece of the new currency,

this ability to intuit, to feel something,

even if it's undefinable or unexplainable,

that doesn't mean it's not real.

But you can't just stop there.

If you just stop with your intuition,

then it just remains as a good feeling.

But we want to be able to make this real for you, right?

We want to be able to ride this wave,

not only to feel something

that feels like the right idea for you right now,

but how do you take that feeling and bring it out

in the world.

Well we're on to step two of this new currency here.

If step one is intuition, step two is inspiration.

And I'm not just talking about you know being fired up

and just feeling energized and motivated

for the purpose of, what, of enrolling other people

in your own motivation.

That's a pretty closed loop.

That doesn't really go anywhere.

But when you allow this intuition to turn into inspiration

where that idea grabs you and that idea pulls you forward,

where that idea comes with its own batteries included,

the idea comes with the energy

to execute that idea.

So intuition can become inspiration,

and then you only have one more piece of the puzzle.

There's only one more piece of this new currency

that can actually be your golden ticket

to freedom in this era that we find ourselves in.

The third piece of the currency is adaptability.

Adaptability.

Gone forever are the days of saying,

well I've been doing this for 50 years.

You know a few generations ago,

your last name defined what you did.

That changed to where people started having two careers,

you know they started having three careers

in a single lifetime.

But what we're looking at now with this

accelerated pace of change,

we're talking turning careers around every

four to five years.

Now that may sound scary to some people,

that might sound scary to you if you've put

a lifetime of work and education into being

good at what you do.

But there's no need to be afraid.

In fact, this is the best news that human beings

have ever had.

Because your desires don't stand still,

why should your skills?

Your dreams aren't stagnant,

so why should your actions be?

Your intuition, your inspiration,

and your adaptability,

these are the three forces of this new currency,

and the future belongs to those who become practitioners

of this new currency.

Yes you can practice intuition,

and yes you can practice inspiration,

and you can absolutely practice adaptability.

And you can start right now.

You are already a practitioner of this currency,

intuition, inspiration, and adaptability.

And the best part is,

it never finishes, there's always more,

and then more, and then more.

We'll see what happens as this journey unfolds,

and I'll see you on the next one.

Maria Menounos is certainly a glass-half-full type of person, and her recent health scare

might have brought her to her healthiest point yet.

The TV host tells Women's Health magazine, "Would you believe me if I told you that

the brain tumor is the best thing that ever happened to me?

It freed me from all of that anxiety of having to be perfect."

According to Us Magazine, the Maria underwent brain surgery in June to remove a benign tumor

the size of a golf ball.

She tells Women's Health, "Before the brain tumor, I was super type A. I was on

top of everything.

I was everything to everyone, but nothing to myself.

I didn't know it at the time, but there was no self-compassion, no self-love, I didn't

think I deserved it."

TNA Teaming With NEW JAPAN?! Vince McMahon BANS WWE Chant! | WrestleTalk News Dec. 2017 - Duration: 4:05.

Hello and welcome to the WrestleTalk News - I'm Oli Davis.

Vince McMahon Bans WWE Chant And the following WrestleTalk News episode

is scheduled for one fall.

One fa- Shut up, Luke!

You're not allowed to have fun anymore.

Wrestling crowds chanting 'One fall' during the ring introductions first started in WWE

back at 2015's NXT TakeOver: London.

That's how excitable we fans can be sometimes.

We will literally chant the rules of the match.

To encourage the audience participation, ring announcers usually pause after their line

"the following contest is scheduled for one fall," so the crowd have a moment to

chant back "one fall!".

But at Sunday's Clash of Champions pay-per-view, ring announcer Greg Hamilton didn't pause,

continuing quickly on with Jinder Mahal's introduction, while the crowd tried to chant

"one fall" behind him.

When asked about this on Twitter, the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer revealed this is

actually part of WWE actively trying to phase the chant out, simply because: "Vince hates

it".

Hopefully another British creation fares much better under McMahon...

Rockstar Spud Arrives At Smackdown ...the brilliantly entertaining Rockstar Spud,

who was spotted arriving backstage at this week's Smackdown Live.

PWInsider have previously reported Spud has signed with WWE after leaving TNA in October,

and he'll be debuting soon on 205 Live.

Spud is just one of many wrestlers and backstage staff who've departed Impact Wrestling in

recent months.

So to make up for losing so much talent, TNA apparently have a plan for 2018…

TNA Teaming With New Japan?

...forging a relationship with one of the most exciting promotions on the planet: New

Japan Pro Wrestling.

PWInsider is reporting "There has been continued talk within [TNA] that one of the goals for

the new year is to try and rebuild their old relationship with New Japan."

TNA's previous relationship with New Japan reportedly came to an end for a number of

very 'TNA' reasons - including New Japan taking against Vince Russo's involvement

at Impact, and them being very unhappy with TNA's booking of Kazuchika Okada - someone

many believe to be the greatest wrestler in the world right now - as Samoa Joe's sidekick

Okato in 2011, a parody of Kato from The Green Hornet.

But if you ask the conspiracy theorists, New Japan already have a secret deal with another

wrestling promotion...WWE!

Chris Jericho Teases More New Japan Dates Some believe Chris Jericho wrestling a match

against Kenny Omega at WrestleKingdom 12 next month is actually part of an elaborate plot

to set up a Jericho vs Omega rematch at WrestleMania 34.

While Jericho confirmed he won't be appearing at WrestleMania to Sports Illustrated, he

also teased for 2018: "I could go back to the WWE, I love working for Vince McMahon."

But then he also said: "Will I work more for New Japan?

Possibly.

As his surprise New Japan appearance last month showed, Jericho is a master of working

fans.

The only thing we know for sure at the moment is: "If you want to see Chris Jericho wrestle,

the Tokyo Dome is where you're going to see me…

What's the trick? I wish I knew I'm so done with thinking Through all the things I could've been

And I know you want me too All it takes is that one look at you And I run right back to you You cross that line and it's time to say f* you

What's the point in saying that When you know how I'll react? You think you can just take it back But s**t just don't work like that

You're the drug that I'm addicted to And I want you so bad Guess I'm stuck with you And that's that

Because when it all falls down, then whatever When it don't work out for the better If it just ain't right And it's time to say goodbye

When it all falls down When it all falls down I'll be fine, I'll be fine

You're the drug that I'm addicted to And I want you so bad But I'll be fine

Why we fight? I don't know We say what hurts the most Oh, I tried staying cold But you take it personal

All these firing shots and making ground It's way too hard to cope But I still can't let you go

Because when it all falls down, then whatever When it don't work out for the better If it just ain't right And it's time to say goodbye

When it all falls down When it all falls down I'll be fine, I'll be fine

EVERY PERCH OVER 2 POUNDS | Team Galant (English Subtitles) - Duration: 18:35.

I got my first perch for the day. I think it is a nice one.

– We just have to weigh it. – It is really nice.

– We have to take it home. – No, we do not.

We have to take a picture of it.

We could do some ice fishing on this boat.

There is ice and water. Let's drill a hole and ice fish.

It is really early in the morning.

If you disregard the boat, you may think we are going ice fishing.

But we are not, we are going to fish for perch.

It may be slow today as the temperature has been below freezing-point during the night.

But if we manage to get three big fish, we will be quite happy.

I will use a Flatnose Mini in a Medium Rare colour.

I will start with that and see if it works.

It has a 7 gram head, as it is really shallow here.

It is only about 1 metre deep. I do not want it down on the bottom.

I will start with a Flatnose Mini too, but in the Motoroil colour.

We will fish a shallow area and try to find some deep holes with the sonar.

It will be about 1.5 metres deep around us, but the holes may be 2 metres deep.

That is where the perch usually is.

The water is really cold right now and drop shot may be good.

But we will start with jigs as we do not know where the perch is.

If we find the perch, we may switch to drop shot.

We will find them with the Flatnose and then we may switch to drop shot.

That is our plan today.

It is big as hell.

The net. Bring out the net.

It may weigh 1.3 or 1.4 kg.

We are out here fishing, but not getting anything.

Tobbe caught a pike.

But we got one all of a sudden.

It is a nice one too.

I caught it on a Flatnose in the Motoroil colour.

It is really nice.

– Do you want to weigh it? – Yes.

It has been a while since I caught a nice one like this.

I have not been fishing that much lately.

I usually do not get much fish here, but the ones I get are often big.

I think we will weigh and measure it.

Damn, it is really nice!

I have to use a plastic bag, so I do not hurt it when I weigh it.

It weighs 1.24 kg.

The bag weighs about 40 grams, so the fish itself is 1.2 kg.

Let's measure it as well.

It is 46 cm.

It is 46 cm, right? Or is it 47 cm?

It is 46 cm.

It is pretty long.

I got my first perch for the day.

– It is big! – The second today.

But it is my first for the day. The second one in total.

It is a really fat perch. I hope it does not come off.

Just hold it still. I can get it.

– It is almost as big as Philip's. – Look at these colours.

It is insane.

It is really cold, so I used a jig without paddle.

It did not take that many casts, about 50 casts or so.

Then I got this nice one.

– It is about the same size as mine. – Yes, more or less.

Look how nice it is.

Let's weigh it to see if it is bigger than Philip's or not.

Wait, you have to reset it. It already says 2.

It is 1.12 kg minus 40 grams. About 1.08 kg.

Let's let it back in.

It weighs 1.08 kg and is 43 cm long.

A pretty nice fish. Nice and fat.

It was my first perch for the day. They are not many, but they are big.

And fat.

We want a long and fat one now.

I just felt it coming.

This could be a big one.

Goddamnit!

That is a nice one!

Goddamnit! That could be 1.5 kg.

I just got it out, jigged it and then I got one.

It was really heavy, so I thought it was a small pike.

But it is a really big perch. This is not small, I can tell you that.

It is so big! A really nice perch.

I think it may weigh about 1.5 kg, if we are lucky.

– We just have to weigh it. – It is really nice.

– We have to take it home. – No, we do not.

We have to take a picture of it.

Cool. Let's get a picture.

We will weigh and measure it.

– Let's see how big it is. – A really nice autumn perch.

It is really fat too. A fat belly.

It will be fun to weigh.

Somewhere around 1.48 and 1.50.

It says 1.49 kg.

It is almost the biggest perch I have caught this year.

I got one that weighed 1.49 kg.

It is so fat that I have to put the tape measure under it.

This is also 46 cm.

Cast it out, jig it home slowly. Make a lot of stops.

Then they come to get it and I can make a counter-thrust.

Two in a row. Two big ones.

Philip has one now.

You got one?

It is a nice one.

I saw when Edvin let his big fish back in and then I put on the same bait as him.

But in another colour. Then I got this one.

It is really nice.

I got it on this small bait. Maybe that is what works today.

It moves like a wounded baitfish.

The fish has really nice colours in the autumn, very orange.

They are fat too as they feed up before winter.

Let's weigh and measure it and take a picture before we let it back in.

The perch that Philip just got was 48 cm long and weighed 1.36 kg.

The sonar shows that the water is 4.5 °C, which means that it is very cold.

There will be ice here soon.

It means that the perch is really slow, so you have to fish the bait slowly too.

Let it be still on the bottom at times, because that is when the perch takes it.

Let's let this nice fish back in. It was 48 cm and 1.36 kg.

There you go.

It is crazy that all the perch we get weigh more than 1 kg.

We just have to keep going.

I have a fish on, but it is my third pike for the day.

This one is better, about 80–90 cm. Let's see if I can get it up.

It is fun to get it on...

It is going. It is fun to get it on perch equipment.

But it is not what I came here for.

– Was it not? – No, I do not think so.

Listen. It is going pretty quickly.

It is fat as hell.

Look how fat it is.

Calm down.

This is my third pike and I think we have gotten six pikes today.

We have had more pike than perch.

But the perch has been twice as big.

I did just as Edvin and Philip, I put on a Tumbler Shad on a jig head.

I fished it really slowly, then I got a pike.

We will take a look of the area on the AutoChart Live.

It is about 2 metres deep around us, but there are holes that are 3 metres deep.

I will show you on the sonar. This is the area where we fish now.

But I like to change the intervals when I fish in shallow areas.

Go to AutoChart Live, then to Options.

Go to Maximum Area. We have 0–10 metres now.

But we can go down to 0–5 metres as it is so shallow here.

You can already see the edges more clearly.

It is 2 metres deep right here and 3 metres over here in the centre.

We have gotten all our fish in this area. It is 2 metres deep here as well.

We have been going around here, just casting and casting.

When we get a fish we mark it on the map.

That is how we work.

We will leave this area, we will let it rest.

We will come back here in a couple of hours.

We will see if we can get more fish then.

Let's go and try some new places. Maybe we can find new schools.

I got my first perch for the day. I think it is a nice one.

There it is! I got in on a Flatnose.

This weighs about 1 kg, I think.

It is pretty long, but not that fat. That was nice.

If you get a perch, you will get more. This is not a solitary fish.

But we will see if they take the bait when it is so cold.

I think I have a big perch. Bring out the net.

– Philip, get the net. – It looks really big.

– Seriously, it may be huge. – If it is a perch, that is.

– I think it is. – It is a perch.

– A big one? – Yes, it is big.

– It is easily a 2 kg perch. – Is it really?

– Ready, Philip? – That is huge!

Goddamnit! What a perch!

It is about 1.7 kg.

That is what you said.

I said that I caught a perch an hour ago. You guys have gotten two each.

I said that I would get the biggest one. I just need one fish.

This is the nice autumn perch.

Let's weigh and measure it.

I whink we were too excited when I got it. It may not weigh as much as we said.

We will see, you never know.

Let's get the bag.

I think it weighs more than 1.5 kg.

It is a fat one.

– No, it weighs 1.44 kg. – Yes, it is not bigger than mine.

– Yes! – We were too excited.

I joked and said it was a 2 kg perch. Philip thought I was serious.

– Do not blame this on me. – Yes, I will.

Philip thought it was...

But that was because you said it was 1.7 kg.

– It was 1.44 kg, it is still a big perch. – Yes, I should not complain.

This is what we came for, more or less.

Every fish we have gotten have weighed more than 1 kg.

It is not that long. It is 45 cm.

It is pretty decent. Mine was 46 cm, right?

– Yes, it was. – Pretty much the same.

– A nice perch. – Should we let it back in?

You could get a lot fish as the sun sets, so let's keep going.

– Let's do this. – Bye-bye.

I got this perch on the jig I started with this morning.

A 7 grams jig head on a Flatnose Mini in the Motoroil colour.

It works well. I caught both my perch on this one.

I was going to take it off, but I will leave it on.

We will keep fishing.

We have another perch on.

Good job, Philip.

– Is it a 1 kg perch, Philip? – It could be.

We are losing it, we might have one that is not 1 kg.

– Why cut the line when it is in the net? – Cut the net open too and let it out.

It is too small for us.

– We just have to weigh it, Philip. – Just to see if it is 1 kg or not.

– That one does not weigh more than 1 kg. – No, it is about 0.9 kg.

Let's throw Philip in the water.

– Look, I got it on a Motoroil Flatnose. – Just as I did.

It is beautiful.

I am sure it does not weigh more than 1 kg.

We cannot end with a fish that does not weigh 1 kg.

No, we have to get a bigger one now.

A 2 kg perch.

It is still a nice perch. Look how high it is.

Let's let it back in.

We do it like this.

This is the last cast of the day.

It has been really slow, we have only gotten seven perch.

But six of them weighed more than 1 kg. We should not complain.

That is great.

TV Shows Are Changing Your Political Opinions Without You Knowing It - Duration: 4:33.

Right now, we're living in a super-political environment.

Even reading the news is considered political.

Just mentioning a show can start a political argument!

But is it the media that's political or are we politicizing it?

We consume a lot of media from news to mindless entertainment television.

And studies show the media we consume can affect our opinions.

From body image to political leanings our media consumption can affect a lot.

There are a lot of variables here, but that doesn't mean we can't apply a little bit

of science.

So, first, we have to think about television not as scripted drama or stage play, but as

images and messages that are brought into your home in highly-produced packages, creating

a shared national culture.

And some research shows that people who consume more "light" television are more likely

to be swayed.

Light television is in contrast to heavy.

So while heavy might be a documentary, or hard-hitting news, light might be entertainment

or variety tv.

But while we all see the politicization of news, surely light tv is okay.

RIGHT?

Not so much.

One particular team of researchers looked at Italy as a case study.

They focused on areas where the TV network Mediaset was most widely syndicated.

Mediaset was owned by a guy who ran for (and won) the office of prime minister of Italy.

Beginning in the mid-1980s, the network showed light entertainment content and then gradually

shifted to biased content in favor of the owner's own political party.

The data science found, on average, Mediaset turned more voters toward the populist PM

candidate, compared to regions where his network was introduced later.

This suggests a correlation between long-term exposure to entertainment television (and

its possible political bias) and voting habits.

Back in the US, this is connected to a thing called the Fox News effect.

This American news network has an extreme right-leaning bias, that caters more to small-town

and suburban areas with populist bends.

Its viewers, too, skew ideologically conservative based on 2012 Pew studies.

But other media outlets are also skewed.

For example, while Fox was tough on the 2012 Democratic candidate, MSNBC was far tougher

on the Republican candidate that year.

But back back to Italy, the researchers also found a correlation between TV habits and

education.

On average, children exposed to entertainment tv at a young age grew into "cognitively

disadvantaged" adults.

And it's not just kids.

People exposed to entertainment TV over time, regardless of age, are more likely to be taken

in by populist political rhetoric.

Across the board, entertainment content was shown to influence political attitudes, creating

what the researchers call a, quote, "fertile ground for the spread of populist messages."

Which we know has become more popular in 2017.

Plus, the 2012 Pew Study found, Fox News viewers were on average less informed about current

events than people who don't watch the news at all.

That's right, less-informed than people who watched no news at all.

They conducted surveys covering both political events and general knowledge and a correlation

between lower scores on the survey and Fox News as the primary news outlet emerged.

Though, again, let's be clear: this is a correlation, not a causation.

But still, the correlation is there.

Another team of researchers from an apolitical nonprofit, looked at data for over 9,200 towns

in 2006, and found that areas where Fox News entered the cable market by the year 2000

had a significant rise in Republican support.

That suggests a link between the station's bias and its audience.

Fox News, they found, reinforced the views of Republican voters and shifted support among

independents.

Look, we're not trying to pick on any specific news outlet.

We're looking at the data, and the data says, some media is more ideological than

others

And can possibly affect how people see the world.

Plus, this was in 2012, we are far more polarized today than we were then.

Fox News is currently leading cable news channels for viewership.

Though viewers overall are fewer with the rise of alternatives to cable news online.

Which we didn't even talk about here.

Some have gone so far as to say that stations airing such slanted programming is, and I'll

paraphrase here, like an all-meat diet when really you need some variety.

Watching multiple news sources is always recommended as the best way to have a healthy news diet.

Exactly, is there a perfect news source?

No.

But there might be a better way to consume the news.

Instead of only watching Fox News or MSNBC, watch both.

And see what's happening on Twitter.

And read the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal and the BBC!

And if you don't have time to do all that, find a source that curates them for you.

If you're worried about bias, don't put all your eggs in one basket.

Anytime we can consider more sources we gain a broader opinion to have a better overall

sense of the world.

For more sciencey looks at your daily life, subscribe to Seeker!

And it's not just news outlets affecting your voting habits, politicians also play

mind games to win.

Julia's got more on that right here.

Here's a fun fact to keep in mind, the definition of propaganda is "information, especially

of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political

cause or point of view."

Hmm.

The Best Cheap Russian Food in NYC || Operation $5 Lunch - Duration: 5:52.

- My name is Prez, and I work at Thrillist.

Around these parts I'm known as the 5-Dollar Lunch Guy.

Every episode, I'm gonna put you guys

onto the very finest New York grub for $5 or less.

(bell ringing)

Dude, are you serious right now?

Russian?

Really?

So, here's the thing about Russian food.

I know less than nothing about Russian food.

I mean, I know there's Russian dressing,

and I know there's a huge community on Coney Island,

but am I really gonna go to Coney for a five-buck lunch?

I think not.

- Hey, wait.

Did you say Coney Island?

- Yeah.

- You totally don't have to go that far.

There's actually a place three blocks up from here.

It's called Teremok.

- Only three blocks?

- Yeah, I normally get the blinis,

it's like a Russian-style crepe, and they're fabulous.

- That sounds amazing, guys.

Three blocks away, easy, thank you so much!

- Yeah, no problem. Good luck.

(guy yelling)

- So these are the rules of "Operation 5 Buck Lunch."

It's gotta be good, 'cause nobody wants bad food for lunch.

No big chains, 'cause that's just too easy.

It's gotta be $5 or less.

And whatever I don't use today,

rolls over into the next episode.

I hope you guys are ready for the most epic journey

in "5-Buck Lunch" history.

We're going all of three blocks for lunch.

"Operation 5 Buck Lunch" Russian food is a go,

but first, do you know anything about Russian food?

- I don't.

- Do you know anything about Russian food?

- I don't. - Really?

- Yeah.

- Have you ever had a blini?

- A blini? No.

- Have you ever had a blini?

- No, I have not.

Well actually, I'm Polish, and we have crepes

and we call them "nalesniki."

The way my grandma makes them is,

you put sugar in the batter--

- Ooooh. - and so

you could eat it without anything in it.

It's just, you roll it up, and it's sweet.

- That's perfect and she makes it the best, clearly, right?

- Yes.

- OK, so you don't want to shout out anybody else's?

- No.

- Yeah I have had that. Actually, my ex-girlfriend,

who I just broke up with -- what's up (bleeps)

- Hey.

- she used to work in this Russian cafe

and she used to (bleep) all the time about the blini.

- Oh nice, well.

- And I tried it once.

- One, two, three, hey.

So speaking to the people,

I'm glad it's not just me who knows nothing

about Russian food, but what I did learn is that

within most cultures they have some sort of crepe-like,

blini-like dish, whether you're Puerto Rican,

or you're Romanian, or you're Polish.

But we're here for the one and only Russian-style Teremok.

Let's go.

(man moaning)

And we take the selfie.

Hello.

- Hello and welcome to Teremok.

- So my homegirl put me on to this place,

and she says you guys have amazing blinis.

What is a blini?

- A blini is sort of like a crepe --

it's sort of like this right here.

We roll it and then we put the filling in the middle,

and then we roll it up, sort of like a burrito

and put it in a wrap.

- I mean, I only have five bucks,

so I'd definitely love to try one. What do you have?

- So the cheapest one will be chicken and apple,

that would be $5.39.

- Lucky for us, I still have a $1.10 left

from the last episode, so I'm definitely gonna

hit that one up.

- Enjoy, your pickup straight done there.

- Still got leftover: we winning.

Thank you so much. - Bon appétit.

- Thank you so much -- come on.

Oh yes, I am pumped.

So guys, I know I didn't give you your fun fact yet,

but you're about to get it right now.

- Fun fact, fun fact.

- Yo, can we get a graphic for this for real,

like, I feel like I need a fun fact graphic.

(bleep)

So, I was talking to the manger and he was telling me

that blinis were popularized in the United States

by Eastern European Jewish immigrants who served them

with cheese and oil -- something very simple --

and they served them during the holidays.

Let's get into it.

Oh, straightaway, that smell gets much stronger.

Wait, wait.

First, a selfie.

(camera shutter clicking)

This reminds me of, like, when you eat a burrito,

except more flippity-floppity and with meat

and, like, this cream.

Anyways, let's go.

Mmm, oh ho ho ho, yeah.

This is the romantic part.

It's nothing crazy, it's just three ingredients,

but together they're amazing.

You have the blini, of course,

this beautiful pillow of magical goodness.

You have the slow-cooked chicken, which is cooked perfectly,

it's not too dry and it's definitely amazing as well.

And the most amazing part --

definitely said that three times:

They're amazing.

Amazing.

Most amazing part.

Three amazings!

You have the apple cream sauce.

This is, smells, and tastes fantastic.

(restaurant chatter)

(paper crumbling)

That's really good,

I could definitely eat this two or three more times

but I only got five plus bucks so,

what are you gonna do.

Mission accomplished, let's take this outside.

Shout-out to Teremok.

That was fantastic.

Blinis are definitely my new joint.

Today was a success, we hit every single one of our points.

It's not a big chain, at least in New York.

We got to use our rollover change.

And most importantly, it was delicious.

I'm happy, can't go wrong.

I will see you lata, as we say in Russia,

(speaking foreign language)

Peace!

All right guys, if you guys wanna see me eat more food

that's not from the fridge,

let us know where to go next time in the comments.

Also follow our Instagram @5dollarlunchguy.

Other than that, follow, like, share, subscribe

and I'll see you guys later. Peace!
