Women in Engineering and Technology | Shell Careers - Duration: 1:34.

This has been such a male-dominated field for so long

Women are just as passionate as men and because they're in the minority it's

driving them more to want to go into more managerial roles

So today we're looking at bringing women to the top of the agenda in engineering across the UK

and worldwide

I'm a mechanical hydropower engineer

I study aeronautical engineering

I'm a business analyst

I am production operations engineer with shell

Coming to events like this is about showing young girls that leaders in this industry are possible.

It's really important that women are designing

products and engineering solutions for women

We need diversity to make sure that our voices are heard.

If we're not using 50% of our population we're losing 50% of those skills.

It's amazing at events like this to see so many women and being so supportive

and so encouraging to go into the engineering sector

This means new ideas it means making things more efficient it means things

happening faster

It's all about strengthening us as engineering companies.

Sometimes you have to set your principles aside.

I had thought that here in the Camp, there would never be electricity.

There is no electricity here right now either. But I remember a hockey match some years ago, Skellefteå AIK were in the finals.

Long before that a company from Skellefteå had made a large reservation.

As we got closer to game day we recieved an e-mail.

"We will cancel our booking if we cannot watch the game."

And of course..

It was a large quote, A lot of money hanging in the air.

So I felt I had to make an exception.

We had to remove a big tree over there so it wouldn't block the satellite dish.

A projector was mounted and connected to a gasoline powered generator.

The match was unforgettable and there was a great atmosphere in the cabin that evening!

It was an amazing night.

As a bonus, the cut down tree turned into a great table leg. I asked Bengt to cut it a bit higher up.

Then I put a board on top and now we use it for outdoor conferences and in spring time for Easter Service.

Last year we had 320 people visit the camp for the Easter Service.

And the preacher could stand behind the cut down tree.

So one thing leads to another.
