Waching daily Dec 23 2017

You're the best.

You're helping my skin and trying to get the eyelash out of my eye.

She's the best!

Hey guys, it's Mi-Anne and this is Beauty With Mi.

Hello all! Welcome back!

If you are new to this channel, please hit the subscribe button down below and please

give this video a thumbs up because today I'm doing another weird facial.

Ever since I did the enzyme facial, you know the one where I came out looking like a straight

up Grandma, I've been wondering if I would ever find something that would top that.

Turns out, I just might have.

And naturally I filmed the entire experience for all of you.

The facial in question is called the ice infusion tightening facial, and it was developed by

an esthetician named Renée Rouleau,

someone I've admired for years.

Her clients include the likes of Demi Lovato.

Ever heard of her?

Although Renée is based out of Austin, she makes regular trips to LA and New York and

I got a chance to try out the ice infusion facial in the flesh.

The facial itself is designed to heat up and cool down the skin, thus brightening, tightening

and smoothing everything out.

AKA all things that I love.

She started off by cleansing my skin using amazing hot stones.

Thus beginning the warm up process.

By increasing the skin's internal temperature, we're increasing oxygen and blood flow and

the blood brings new nutrients and feeds the skin cells.

Then once my skin was sufficiently clean, Renée smoothed on a cranberry peel to loosen up

any dead skin cells on the surface of my face.

It smells so good.

Next she continued with even more exfoliation using a Bio-Brasion device, which is basically

designed to exfoliate the skin through light suction and vibration.

I almost felt like it was gonna hurt, but it doesn't hurt at all.

Science rules!

Then she moved onto a mousse-like bubble mask that helps improve circulation.

Naturally I made like Bella Thorne and took a few pictures.

I'm gonna get the perfect gram.

Who wore it better?

Let me know, in the comments below.

I love a good close shave.

It's dual purpose.

It warms the skin, which helps increase blood circulation.

That's what the rosemary and the minty-ness will do, right?

Yup.

But then it also softens the skin so that if someone does need extractions it'll make

it easier.

Once the mask had done its work, she removed it and put on a serum.

And brought out an ultrasound.

Yup. You heard that right, an ultrasound.

But she wasn't gliding that device on my skin in search of a heartbeat, she was actually

using it to improve circulation, reduce inflammation and help the serum she applied absorb better.

I feel like this would be a really great machine if I was in Middle School and I wanted to pretend

like I had a fever.

Then it was time for phase two: the cool down.

Renée whipped out a tray of, what looked like ice cubes, but was actually full of frozen

serum popsicles cooled down to -2 degrees.

What this does is anytime you create cold on the skin it immediately constricts the

capillaries and it creates a vacuum effect that pulls the ingredients deeper into the skin.

It creates like a suction.

Not gonna lie, it wasn't the most comfortable.

It kinda felt like a three minute brain freeze. and if you touch your face you can feel how

slippery and delicious

Oh it's really smooth.

Renée made a seaweed rubber mask that she put on my skin that felt so good.

It was cooling on contact and had really soothing ingredients, like seaweed in it to hydrate

my skin.

What it does is it creates an occlusive seal over the skin so that everything underneath

has no place else to go but into the skin.

I'm not even kidding, when I looked in the

mirror there were no pores.

I just didn't understand.

Around my nose I had bigger clogged pores.

The cold constricts the opening of the pore.

You can also see your breakouts have really settled down.

Yeah, I had one here that was really painful and it's not even red anymore.

I feel like it's an amazing facial for events because I literally looked at myself and could

see a difference immediately.

How long can I expect to see these results for?

I would say most people can see a visible difference for about seven to ten days.

That's so much longer than I thought!

Wait I'm so excited.

Well thanks so much for giving me the Renée Rouleau glow.

Your skin is beautiful.

I didn't have to work that hard.

Thank you!

Oh, we did some work.

Full disclosure: Renée's facials cost around $450, which I know is pretty steep so the

next best thing to getting an actual facial from Renée is to get something from her product line.

She recommended three products that you can use to mimic the effects of her facial at home.

The first item is an exfoliating mask.

Now, Renée has one in her line. It's called the Triple Berry Smoothing Peel.

I've actually used this before and I really, really like it.

It smells amazing.

And when you put it on and leave it on for 10 minutes afterwards, your skin will be baby soft.

I'm not even kidding.

Next up is a toner.

Now Renée actually suggested I pour toner into an ice cube tray, stick it in the freezer,

and use it as to mimic the effects of her ice facial.

So I actually did that, and it worked.

It was pretty cool.

Finally a soothing mask.

Now Renée recommends this one which is the Rapid Response Detox Masque.

I actually adore this thing.

I really like her line in general but this mask is amazing.

It looks like honey golden nectar of some sort.

You put it on.

It's not drying even though it's really good for acne.

It has tea tree leaf oil, salicylic acid, manuka leaf oil.

All of which are antibacterial so great for pimples.

But it also has sodium hyaluronate which is great for hydrating.

So this is amazing to soothe your skin.

It really calms down breakouts, but you can actually make a bunch of DIY masks that I

think would do the job as well.

I actually did an entire video on DIY skin care and made a bunch of masks.

I made an exfoliating mask.

I made a really hydrating honey mask and a cocoa powder and yogurt mask, all of which

you can see the recipes for up here.

All in all I really loved the facial.

But I'm not going to lie, I don't think one facial is going to completely solve all

of your skin concerns.

To me, getting a facial is all about pampering and relaxing and honestly Renée's facial

was exactly that.

But I hope that you guys enjoyed this.

Let me know what your favorite part of the facial was below.

And if you have any cool masks or DIY recipes for me to try, I would love to hear them as well.

Let me know in the comments and I will catch you guys next week.

Bye!

CHRISTMAS PROJECT SHARE! 22 Cards, 1 6x6 Paper Pad: Craftsmith Falalalallama! - Duration: 8:14.

Hey guys! I am back with another project share for you. This project was inspired by Jess

Crafts' many "X Number Of Cards, 1 Paper Pad" videos; I will link her channel below.

She has a ton of videos where she takes one 6x6 paper pad - usually by Doodlebug - and

just mass-produces cards with them. And she always has a corresponding blog post where

she lists off the dimensions that she used and whatnot, and as someone who's just getting

into cardmaking, I do find that very helpful!

So inspired by all of her videos, I decided to try and do something similar with that

"Falalalallama" 6x6 paper pad that I picked up at Michaels a while ago. I can guarantee

these are not nearly as good as what she does, but I did try! [laughs]

So most of these cards were just made with the paper pad and cardstock from those half-pound

packs from Dollar Tree. I used the biggest strips of cardstock that come in those packs,

which end up being just shy of A2 size - A2 cards are 4 ¼ inches by 5 1/2 inches, and

these cards ended up being 4 ⅛ inches by 5 ¼. I'm not sure if I scaled things down

exactly correctly, but I tried!

I did also have to end up using a few embellishments from my stash to finish off the last few cards,

but I'll explain that as I come to them.

So the first 10 cards were made with a slate blue cardstock; I ended up putting white cardstock

in the inside, so that things could be written in them and actually be visible, because the

blue cardstock is so dark.

So this was the first card that I made, and I instantly screwed it up by cutting the base

layer too small [laughs]. As you can see, the second card with the same design looks

a lot better, because the base is covering the majority of the card, whereas this is

too skinny. I did find that the cards looked a little boring just with the base layers

and the cut aparts, so I ended up going into my stash and pulling out these "Merry Christmas" stickers.

This one doesn't want to stick, but this is the screw-up anyways, so whatever. [laughs]

These "Merry Christmas" stickers that were in the Michaels seasonal sticker book.

Oh, and pro tip: Dollar Tree cardstock does NOT like wet glue, apparently. Either that

or I applied too much, although I don't think I did. I ran out of glue runners part

way through making the cards, and couldn't find the others I'd stashed away, so I pulled

out some wet glue to make a few of them. And you can tell which ones they are because they're

kinda curled up. This one, I don't think I used wet glue for it, but it is-- it's

kinda curled. And you'll see which ones were made with wet glue, cuz they're worse than this! [laughs]

Next there are these two "It's Coal: You Know Why" cards, which I really like, probably

because I just think this tag is hilarious.

Then there are these two that say "Ho Ho Ho!" with llamas pulling the sleigh…

For these two, I attempted to use Jess Crafts' trick of using a strip of paper to combine

two scraps of paper into one base layer - on both of these cards, these are two separate

pieces of paper, but if you combine them together, they become one base size. And I think it

kind of worked. I used-- this one was like a border piece that could be cut out, and

this was just a small scrap that I used. And in hindsight, I probably should have put these

embellishments on this one; I just thought that these would bring in some of the pink

a little better, whereas this one already has pink on it, but I think it might be a

little too busy now, and these probably would have worked better on this card, but oh well!

Oh, and this card, I accidentally glued the base layer on to the wrong side of the card

base, so it was like… [laughs]... the card opened this way. So I ended up having to cut

it off and glue it on another card the right way. So this base is nice and extra thick…

or the front of the card, rather, is extra thick, because… I screwed up and had to

fix it!

I attempted to do the same "two scraps as one base" thing with this card; it worked

a little better, cuz the cut apart that I used was bigger, so it kinda hides it better.

But again, I used wet glue on this one, and as you can see, it's all kinda warped, which

sucks. And flattening it out didn't help, so… [laughs]

And this is the last blue card that I made; I was having trouble using up the last of

my scraps and whatnot, and some of the larger, full-page pieces of paper from the pad, but

I think this one turned out okay. In hindsight I probably should have used my corner rounder a

lot more, because I really like how this turned out.

Moving on to the 12 cards I made on this light green cardstock; this one, I didn't put

any white cardstock on the inside, because it's still pretty light on the inside.

So I made two of this design…

Another wet glue, double-scrap card…

This is where things started to get a little more challenging, because I ran out of background

paper, so I had to sort of work with scraps and cut aparts and such to put things together,

but I think these two turned out okay.

These two, I am not so thrilled with; I tried to use up some of my scraps, but I think they

ended up looking a little bit sloppy. And oddly enough, prior to my adding these little

snowflake gems from Dollar Tree, I thought they looked kinda… sparse, with the empty space.

But now that I have the snowflakes on there, I feel like it looks too busy, so… these

ones are kind of a fail, design-wise, I think.

This card uses one of the full-page 6x6 sheets; it took me a little while to figure out how

to use it on a card, but then it occurred to me to put the sentiment on the outside,

and then put the bottom of the page on the inside; then you've got all that space

there to write on. So I think that did turn out pretty cute.

I did the same thing with this one…

This is another card that I struggled with figuring out the balance between too boring

and too busy… initially I just had this border, this stripe, and this blank cut apart…

and then I eventually added this "December 25th" sticker from Dollar Tree, and this "Decembrrrrr"

embellishment from a Pebbles ephemera pack that I bought a while back at a scrapbooking

show… but it still looked really empty with all this blank space. So then I added these

snowflake gems from Dollar Tree, and this little angel llama that was like the last

one out of the paper pad, and I didn't want to not use it… I'm kinda torn on it - sometimes

I like how it came out, and other times I don't like how it came out.

This is a card that I think is not quite busy enough, but I don't know how to make it

more interesting without making it too busy, like I did with some of the other cards. The

background here is actually the half of the blue card I had to cut up, because I had pasted

the base layer on the wrong side of the card. Which was nice to let this turquoise piece

of paper, which is almost the same shade as the green, stick out from the green background.

And then both of these embellishments - the "Holly Jolly Christmas" and the poinsettia

- they were both from that Pebbles ephemera pack as well. And I actually had to fussy

cut this one, because there was a big, thick, ugly white border around it, and it just would've

totally taken away from the whole thing. So I do like how this turned out, but I'm still

kinda... I feel like it's missing something, and I really don't know what to add to it! [laughs]

And then finally, this was another "use up the scraps" card that I ended up being

really happy with, actually. All I did was use the leftover strips of blue cardstock

from when I was trimming them down to make the card bases, and I laid them across the

green card base diagonally, which added some interest. And then I just added-- err, rounded

the corners on these two cut aparts, and taped them down, and there you go! I actually really

like how this came out!

So that's it for this project share! I also have a paper bag mini album that I attempted

to make with some of my scraps, and some of the elements from the paper pack that I was

having a hard time using on cards, although I ended up coming back and making some cards

with the doubles of those pieces, including this one. But that mini album was kind of

a fail, so it's gonna be a separate video! [laughs]

So I hope you enjoyed this; if you did, please give me a big thumbs up. Please subscribe

if you haven't already, and I will see you guys in the next one.

6 Things Controlling Personalities Use To Keep You Beneath Them - Duration: 5:29.

6 Things Controlling Personalities Use To Keep You Beneath Them

In simple explanation, controlling personality is when someone needs to have those around

them behave in certain ways, they like to control other people.

For most of us, we have come across situations where someone tells us not to do something.

Then, when asked why not, they respond with, "I don't want you to," or, "That's

not how it's done."

Controlling personalities stem from having codependency issues.

This means that they rely on their ability to control you so that they can feel safe

confident and secure.

However, by doing this, they ultimately end up making you feel like you have lost your

voice and your independence.

As a result, they have you under their thumb and they destroy your self-esteem.

In this video, I'm going to share with you 6 things controlling personalities do to keep

you under them.

Likewise, if you find this information is helpful to you, make sure to like this video

and subscribe our channel so you won't miss any interesting update in the future guys!

No. 1.

They start out overly-loving, then intentionally create distance.

This is a subtle manipulation tactic that is easily overlooked, if you don't know

how to spot it.

Once you meet him or her, they will begin to create a rapid and intense closeness designed

to make you trust them and rely on their affection.

As soon as they think you truly believe they have feelings for you, they will start to

distance themselves, and their affections.

This tactic is designed to make you fall head-over-heels in love so quickly that when things slow down,

you are too far down the rabbit hole to escape.

You will notice that suddenly the compliments stop and it is you who is expected to run

all the errands, pay the bills, and more.

Relationships should be an equal exchange.

No. 2.

They are constantly criticizing everything you do.

Controlling people are never satisfied with what someone else is doing.

Even if they direct you step-by-step, you will somehow still be doing it incorrectly.

Whether it is the kind of music you listen to, they way you dress, the car you drive,

the kind of job you have…it's never good enough for them.

"You should've" is a repetitive phrase in their vocabulary.

No. 3.

They hate it when you ask, "why?"

People who are controlling hate to be questioned.

Their word is law.

Asking them to explain their motives, or reasons, will only frustrate them (and you).

This, of course is because their reasons and motives don't make sense.

They want you to conform to their control without question.

Doing otherwise will lead them to display acts of anger.

No. 4.

They use guilt to manipulate you.

"If you love me, you will…"

"I will be hurt if you don't…"

"You should want to…"

All of these are sayings controlling personalities use to manipulate you through guilt.

They will try to use your love and care for them to get what they want.

This is a horribly destructive pattern in toxic relationships of any kind, friendship,

workplace, spouse- and can result in permanent emotional damage.

No. 5.

They impose arbitrary rules on your life.

Of course they know what is best for everyone, all the time.

Controlling people have a set list of rules that everyone should abide by, and if they

don't, judgement soon follows.

Liz Ryan shares an example list of arbitrary rules with Forbes:

It's impolite to let voice mail messages go unanswered for more than a half-day.

Five minutes early to a meeting is on time.

On time is late!

It's rude to breastfeed in public, even with a blanket covering the baby.

If you don't have factual evidence for your argument, don't make it.

Opinions don't count.

It's unprofessional to [hug a co-worker who's just had a new grandbaby or question

a management decision or schedule a day off work just to relax]

Work isn't supposed to be fun; that's why they call it work.

Although these are just examples, it's highly likely that you have heard something similar

in your life before.

No. 6.

They will try to make you feel bad for being yourself.

Once you recognize these behaviours for what they are, and refuse to be swayed by controlling

personalities any longer, the controlling party will likely tell you how much you have

"changed."

They rely on their words having power over you, and as soon as that comes to a screeching

halt, it's your fault.

How dare you show signs of independence after they tried so fervently to steal it away from

you?

Change is good.

Especially when it comes to leaving or avoiding toxic people.

Never let anyone tell you that you should be who they tell you to be.

That decision is up to you entirely.

All in all, that's the 6 things controlling personalities do to keep you under them.

Really cool information isn't it.

I'd like to see your opinions on this and please do share your thoughts and experiences

in the comments below!

The LGBTQIA+ Booktube Tag [CC] - Duration: 4:44.

Hi, YouTube. It's Kathy. Happy Bookmas. Today we're doing the LGBTQIA+ Booktube Tag!

I saw this tag in several places but most notably over on Adriana's channel

at Perpetual Pages, which I will link down below. I've also been putting off

this tag because I wanted to have some other videos done before doing this one,

but that just hasn't happened yet and I can still do those videos in the future.

So here we go! Question number one is: how do you identify? I identify as female.

I use she/her pronouns, I am also bi, gray, and demi. Number two is: what are some of

your favorite LGBTQIA+ books and authors? I first wanted to mention Corrine Duyvis

I've read two books by her this year, On the Edge of Gone and Otherbound ,and

both of them are beautifully written and astounding. This year, I also discovered

Malinda Lo, who does some beautiful work. I always love when there's some bisexual

representation, especially if it's a main character. And this is also the year

where I discovered Adam Silveira. This year I read They Both Die at the End

and History is All You Left Me, and both of these are beautiful. And one book I am

so glad I bought just based on the cover, had never heard anything about it, is

Radio Silence by Alice Oseman. Like, oh my goodness, I don't think there was

anything about this book I disliked. I loved that it was such a fandom read.

I loved the representation in it. Just - just go read it if you haven't already,

and then thank me later. And this list would not be complete without April

Daniels and the Nemesis series. This year I read Dreadnought and Sovereign and oh my

goodness, I just want more. Another author that went superhero and queer rep - yes! is

CB Lee with Not Your Sidekick, and I so desperately want to read the second book

in this series but my library doesn't have it so I'm gonna have to tell them

to get on that. Number three is a little bit of a long question so I'm gonna read

it off my screen: how often do you talk about LBGTQIA+ books on your channel and

what videos of yours would you recommend people start with if they're looking for

LGBTQIA+ content? So I guess the short answer is I talk about it any time it

comes up in the books I happen to pick up. By this, I mean I don't try to read

exclusively queer content, I try to read broad content, and if it happens to be

queer I get super excited about it. Sometimes I do specifically track down

books because I've heard about the queer content, and because I make weekly wrap ups

there's a good chance there's something queer in there, but not necessarily.

That being said, there was a week a couple of months ago where, like,

seven out of nine of the things that I consumed were queer, and it was so great.

If I can figure out which wrap up that is, I will link that one specifically

down below, but also the playlist of all my wrap ups is also linked down below.

Number four is: who are some of your favorite LGBTQIA+ BookTubers?

There are just so many. There's Cece from Problems of a Book Nerd.

Obviously there's Adriana from Perpetual Pages. Simon from Savidge Reads.

Jen of Jen Campbell. Ellen Jones occasionally talks about books.

Russell of Ink and Paper Blog. And occasionally both the Princess and the

Scrivener talk about books on their channel. Oh ,and Rogan Shannon! He is

slowly realizing that he is becoming a Booktuber and I love it.

I don't know if I have an answer for number five but it is: what is the first time you

encountered an LGBTQIA+ character in fiction? And I honestly cannot remember

the first time. That being said, I read a lot of mature content as at the age of,

like, ten, so there's a good chance I ran across a bunch of representation, and I

have no idea that was good. It probably wasn't because age 10 was 21 years ago

for me, so let's be honest... So there was probably some really bad representation

I read when I was younger and maybe some of that kept me in the closet for as

long as I was. The weirdest thing about that for me is I've always felt really

passionate about people in the LGBTQIA+ community being able to be open, and be

as honest as they feel that they can be, and love who they love, and all that type

of thing, but I had so much internalized biphobia

that I just wouldn't let that happen for me until a couple of years ago.

Number six is: anything else you would like to add, and who would you like to tag?

I wanted to add that one of the videos I wanted to make before making

this video was a video focusing on books with bisexual main characters. I do

have quite a list of them going that I've really enjoyed - some I've even

mentioned in this video - but if you have any books say you've really enjoyed with

bisexual main characters, I would really love that reading recommendation down in

the comments below. As for who I tag - if I have mentioned you and

you have not done this tag, you are now tagged. Also, if you know of any small

BookTubers that have not been mentioned in any of these tags, please let me know

about them down below because I would love to support them. That's about it for today.

Have you read any of the books I mentioned? Please

let me know about it down in the comments below. On the way down to the

comments, if you hit that Subscribe button, that would be very nice of you.

You can like and share this as you see fit and I will see you tomorrow for more Bookmas. Bye!
