Waching daily Dec 4 2017

I always wanted to sing.

I didn't know that I could have a career.

Doesn't seem like something from the stratosphere for me…

I was like, you know…

people go and a thousand people there are waiting for...

...some person to come and sing on stage.

That happens.

And you can do that all over the world…

That just seemed like, you know, I was…

...I had a humble upbringing.

My mother's mantra to me was humble yourself and you will be exalted.

Exalt yourself and you will be debased.

So this idea of like…

Yeah, I'm great enough to have thousands of people come and see my shows.

You know, it's mind-blowing.

But, it's happening, organically.

The audience is there.

And I do have a career that takes me all over the world.

So in a way I am living a dream...

...that I didn't know that I had.

Understand what I am saying?

It was beyond the dream.

The dream was to just to be able to work.

It was to sing somewhere.

Paid or not.

But yes, it has become much more than that.

I think my style has…

developed in almost the same way my music has.

As I realize that whatever I do personally...

...and the choices that I make that are of my own belief...

and original. It turns out to be an original look.

You know what I am saying?

The mixing of colors, the mixing of eras.

Maybe a vintage tie with a new suit.

If you do things like that, it ultimately becomes your own look.

You know my grandfather used to wear these biscuit taupe boots...

...and a baller hat and three-piece pinstriped suits.

But beautifully tailored.

He had his own unique style, that didn't change with fashion.

It was his thing.

So I am struck by that.

You know, having your own thing.

I am always leaning towards something.

Like well-made, potentially from another era.

Nat King Cole's music was there for me...

...at the beginning of my musical understanding.

I was singing Gospel music in church when I was four and five.

And maybe I was five or six, when I first heard Nat's music.

You are all lucky tonight, sitting here and enjoying the finest of wines…

What stuck out for me in particular,

it was the emotional delivery of Nat King Cole.

And that's something influenced my music.

I hope that my contribution to music…

...stylistically is to put your life experiences into your music.

Again, just like…

...just like...dress.

If you are wearing a vest that was made for your grandfather.

Do you understand what I am saying?

Nobody else is gonna have that…

when you go to the club…

Wherever you go.

No matter where you are in the world...

whether it's LA, New York, London… Berlin,

there is a back street.

There is a lonely place,

...some people that need to be elevated and…

the place where they live needs to be illuminated.

It is just like in music.

If you put something into your music that's uniquely your own.

Maybe the stories of your family,

maybe the influence of your origin.

If you put that into your music, that is something uniquely yours.

So ty to put something unique into the music,

and just as Nat King Cole's influenced...

...me in terms of enviewing the music with the emotion.

I hope that I inspire people to consider emotion…

…almost first…

...before the technical aspects of the song.

Thank you so much.

Thank you so much ladies and gentlemen.

Preview Statements for Presentation Introductions - Duration: 2:51.

In this video, we're going to look at how to give a good preview statement in the

introduction of a presentation. So let's unpack the details.

Hello again friends

Alex Lyon here and this channel, Communication Coach, is here to help you

increase your impact so you can lead the people around you to higher levels of

excellence. And I think a big part of leadership is great communication skills

especially good presentation skills. And in every informative presentation in

most cases you're going to have an introduction, a body, and conclusion. And

there's an old expression in presentations and an essay writing.

First, you tell them what you're going to tell them. Then you tell them. And then

you tell them what you told them. That's the intro body and conclusion. And in your

introduction once you have grabbed people's attention and given your thesis

statement, you want to give a road map or a preview statement of the main points

that you're going to go into detail in in a moment. And over about two decades

worth of coaching and teaching at the college level in terms of presentation

skills, I have come to the conclusion that a brief, concise, and clear preview

statement is really better than giving full sentences for each of the main

points you're about to go into. So I think a good clear and concise preview

statement sounds like this. Let's say you're giving a presentation in a

business setting you might say it like this.

In today's update I'm going to talk about budget, personnel, and sales. So in

that case I whittled each of my main points down to a single word. And if you

can pare it down to a single word or phrase that's much better than giving a

full sentence about each of the main points. The other thing you'll notice is

that I gave a little pause or a beat in between the main points. I said budget (pause)

personnel (pause) and sales. And that little tiny pause there helps your listeners really

understand that oh that's the main point he's talking about. So it separates those

ideas and even though you're just using one word that pause gives them a chance

to receive it and there's a little extra meaning built in so you don't have to

use a lot of words to communicate clearly what you're going to talk about.

And the last thing I want to mention is once you give your roadmap,

once you give you a preview statement, the very next thing out of your mouth

has to be that first main point. So I said budget first. I said budget, personnel, and

sales. So after you give that previiew statement you have to circle back really

quickly to budget and start giving details on that. If you put in any kind

of tangent or say by the way or before I get to that, it's going to be really

confusing for your listeners so you have to get rid of those tangents and stay

disciplined. Stay to your plan. So those are my tips on how to give a good

preview statement. I would love to hear your feedback in that section below.

Question of the day what are your thoughts on a good preview statement? I

look forward to reading those comments once you post them. So thanks. God bless.

And I will see you in the next video.

Boho Style I Украшение для Волос - Duration: 8:36.

Hello! My name is Katya! Wellcome to my channel! I am happy to see you again!

Not long ago I was looking at various handmade things on etsy.com

And I saw this wonderful hair accessoire.

I liked it very very much.

It is a boho - hippie style.

But I was disappointed when I saw the price (+ the price for the delivery to Moldova).

So I decided that I can make it only for approximately 10 euro and it will not be worse than the original one.

This video will be about how I tried to do the same accessories.

*Mostly the same XD

So, stay with me and you will see at the end what I've made.

One of my good friends gave me these pheasant feathers.

One of them I will use for my jewelry.

Also I bought a lot of interesting stuff.

I decided to make it in my favorite colors: brown and cherry color.

I bought 3 meters of each kind of ribbon.

At my favorite shop I bought these two stones.

The small one is brindle stone, and the big one -I have no idea.

I spent 10 euro in total but I have a lot of stuff remained, with I can use for smth else.

For the main pigtail I will use these ropes.

First I sewed them together.

It was not so easy.

After this I made a simple pigtail.

It has to have the head's size.

I also sewed the pigtail.

And then I sewed two parts of it.

But I didn't cut off the ropes, because I need them for decorations.

My hair is not very long now but soon it will grow, so I cut my ropes on breast line.

I put this barrette on place, where my stone will be.

I cut two small chains, which I will put near the stone.

I tied them using two little rings and small pliers.

next I had to put my stone on the pigtail.

I don't have special pistol for the clay.

I just melt the clay and use it.

The stone looked weird.

So I decided to take it away.

Instead of the stone I put this little butterfly.

It looked much better.

Next I started to decorate my ropes.

I decided to put the big stone with the bells on the big, cherry rope.

It was hard to pull the rope through the stone, so I helped it using a thread.

Than I thought that these bells can harm my hair, so I decided to put smth else instead of them.

I also looked nice.

I tied this leaf on the end of the rope.

Next I took the most beautiful feather and I cut it right on the middle.

I cleaned it's top a bit.

I wanted to put a bell on it after this.

I pulled out some hairs.

Also I put a bead on it.

I put the rope through it.

And tied up everything with a red rope.

At the end of a small brown rope I put this little key.

The stone, that once has disappointed me, I wanted to put on brown rope,

but, unfortunately the rope was too big for it and I put it on a small cherry rope.

On the remained rope I just put this small bead.

As I told you, a lot of ropes remained.

For a finished style I was looking for cherry color eyeshadows.

But I didn't find them. I just find this palette and I will mix red color and brown color for the cherry effect.

I'll do my loving smokey eyes.

Also I will make eye lines.

I will mix two lipsticks: brown one and a shiny one.

Now, let's make the hair and put the accessoire.

I like when my ears are seen from the hair. It's a bit elf style.

How do you find my TV? XD

I selected my boots on high heels and jeans.

May be first it looked like too summer style accessories, but than I found my woolen hat.

I don't know how often I will go out with this thing on my head, but I really like it.

It is something a bit fantasy.

If you liked this vide, please, support me with a like.

See you soon!! Bye Bye!!

Swedish SJW / FEMINIST cringe comp. 4 (w/subs) - Duration: 4:45.

I don't give a fuck if you are blonde or you are black

It doesn't fucking matter!

You are a swede as long as you live in Sweden!

I will now plead to the swedish people...

...to be patient with what now will come.

Open your hearts to the very vulnerable humans that we see around the world.

Racist, racism, racist, racism...

Racist, racism, racist, racism...

My vision is a world without borders and free migration where everyone can move but nobody has to flee.

Homosexual, bisexual, transexual and queer expression are a human right.

I want my children and all other children to have the same rights in their lives.

The structures of our society creates prejudice and myths which people project onto others who does not fit into the white, christian, male norm.

This marginalization is ongoing EVERYWHERE and ALL THE TIME.

It's homophobic jokes at the work place, slut shaming on the internet and islamophobia in the media.

The problems must be made visible and we must discuss, only through discussion can they be disproved.

They will be disproved! Because we have the knowledge, the respect and the life on our side.

Jalla jalla, passports for everyone!!!

Jalla jalla, the racism will fall!!!

The ones who are against abortion, can't we abort them instead?

Retroactive.

Lock them up.

The ones who are against abortion, can't we abort them instead?

Sweden is not a homogenous society and it would not be one if everyone hade blonde hair and blue eyes and was named Andersson.

So my direct question to the Sweden Democrats is:

Is this about that you have to celebrate christmas in a specific way to be allowed to live in Sweden? What will happen with people who don't do this?

I am a feminist because I am tired of getting humiliated EVERY day because of my gender.

I am a feminist because the first time I had sex I took for granted that sooo many of my friends would think I was disgusting... and they did.

Because men in my environment would rather listen to men with the same idea as me, instead of me.

Because nurses and teachers are underpayed jobs due to the fact those jobs are dominated by women.

I am a feminist because during sexual education in school I was told that I was going to start bleeding the first time I had sex... but guess what?! I didn't bleed!

Everyone should have the right to have the same equal value no matter what.

Feminism is needed and that is just pure facts.

Hello, my name is Malin Lauber and I am an antiracist because it's natural and the only thing possible to be.

I've created casual things in town before where people come up to me years later telling me how good it was. This is something meaningful.

You've been here now to practice this, what kind of reactions do you get?

We see that when a big group of powerful women who take up space people get provoked, they stare and react.

We need a counterweight to all the hordes of men that are invading the cities in different kind of ways.

I'm gonna tell you what I think of the Sweden Democrats.

[Goes full blown out retard]

Could You Actually Have An Anxiety Disorder? - Duration: 4:01.

Chances are, you've felt a bit of anxiety at one point or another.

Maybe before you started a new job or before you got surgery, but some people live with

anxiety disorders, which are much more persistent and severe than normal feelings of anxiety

or nervousness.

Almost 30% of adults will be affected by these conditions in their lifetime.

Which begs the question, what are anxiety disorders anyway?

People with anxiety disorders frequently experience feelings of excessive fear, worry and panic

in normal, everyday life.

They may be grocery shopping and suddenly feel a wave of terror for no reason at all.

Their heart rate skyrockets.

Their breathing quickens.

Adrenaline pumps through their body.

They eventually calm down, but it isn't always momentary attacks like that.

Oftentimes, it's persistent, hard to control fear that affects people's everyday lives.

This anxiety and the coupling symptoms like trouble concentrating, fatigue and even gastrointestinal

problems, are very difficult to deal with.

As with all mental illnesses, anxiety is not just an overreaction or a personal weakness.

There is science backing up these diseases, so telling someone to relax or let it go can

be pretty insulting.

These conditions are deeply rooted and it's not that easy.

Anxiety is believed to start in the amygdala, the brain's so-called "fear center",

where emotions are processed.

Neurotransmitters then alert the sympathetic nervous system of the perceived threat.

This is when muscles tense, heart rate and breathing speed up, and blood flow is rerouted

away from abdominal organs and towards the brain.

This is our body's fight-or-flight response, or it's way of telling us we're in danger.

This bodily response is what happens whenever anyone feels panicked, but brains with anxiety

disorders experience something a little different.

These conditions are characterized by differences in neuroendocrine, neurotransmitter and neuroanatomical

functions.

To put it simply, these people's brains function differently.

They also appear to have unbalanced activity levels in different parts of the brain.

More activity in emotional centers versus higher cognitive centers.

Some of these abnormalities are so major that they can be seen on brain scans.

While the exact causes of anxiety disorders aren't fully understood, there are a number

of things that can increase your risk of developing one.

If you've been through a serious trauma, you're more likely to develop an anxiety

disorder.

Genetics, certain personality types and other pre-existing conditions have also been linked

to these illnesses.

Regardless of what may have caused the onset of an anxiety disorder, there are a number

of different types you can have.

General excessive, uncontrollable nervousness is called generalized anxiety disorder.

Agoraphobia is extreme fear of being trapped and unable to escape.

The fear of being embarrassed in social situations is social anxiety disorder.

Panic disorder comes with extreme sudden panic and impending doom.

Specific phobias, of things like heights and snakes, are also considered anxiety disorders.

About 30% of people with anxiety disorders go through life without seeking treatment.

But as horrible as these conditions are, they are treatable.

Benzodiazepines and antidepressants are commonly used to treat anxiety.

Talking to a therapist is very helpful too.

CBT or cognitive behavioral therapy reduces anxiety by creating a new way of thinking,

reacting and behaving.

Those with anxiety disorders are advised to avoid alcohol, drugs and caffeine and to exercise

regularly.

Other self-care techniques like meditating and yoga can be effective in lessening anxiety

too.

And remember, there's no shame in seeking help to improve your mental health.

You wouldn't be ashamed of a broken wrist, would you?

Exactly.

What do you do to calm yourself down when you're feeling anxious or tense?

Let us know

in the comments.

The rise of bad jobs, explained - Duration: 8:45.

When politicians talk about workers, they tend to focus on certain types of jobs.

"Bernie Sanders stood American workers."

"It's American workers that remake this country"

But in the US, retail workers have outnumbered manufacturing workers since 2002.

And food service workers aren't far behind.

These jobs are in every community - they're the base of the service economy.

So with the recession in the rear-view mirror, it's worth asking: can these jobs be good

What do we want?

Contract!

When do we want it?

Now!

These Kroger workers are rallying outside a grocery store in West Virginia because their

employer wouldn't meet their demands, stalling negotiations for a new union contract.

"It's not like we're asking for the sun, the moon and the stars.

We want a modest living wage and we want the maintenance of our medical benefits."

Kroger eventually agreed to a new 3-year contract for over 4,000 workers.

It includes pay raises and zero cuts to their benefits.

By negotiating collectively, service workers can secure an hourly wage that is six dollars

higher on average than nonunion wages.

But they are a small minority.

Private sector union membership in the US has fallen to 6.4% of all workers.

It's even lower in the retail and food service industries.

The decline of unions in the US was caused in part by larger trends that have shifted

the types of jobs available, especially for those without a college degree.

During the 80s, 90s and 2000s, several occupations that used to provide a stable middle-class

income grew more slowly than both higher-wage and lower-wage jobs.

That's partly due to new technologies: robots in factories, computer software in offices.

"The decline in the middle has been steep.

A lot of that has been growth at the top, which is good.

People have moved out of the middle and into professional, technical and managerial jobs.

But, the bottom section of the labor market, which comprises maybe 17-18 percentage of

jobs, is about a third larger than it was in 1980.

And if you look just among people without a college degree it's much larger still.

And that's the group we should be concerned about."

The great recession intensified those longer-term trends.

Since 2010, the economy has added millions of jobs, but not evenly.

The biggest area of growth was in high-skill occupations, mostly for people with 4-year

college degrees.

Meanwhile workers with a high school diploma were pushed out of middle-skill occupations.

And in low-skill jobs, they're increasingly competing with those who have some college.

"We're adding lots of jobs.

The concern is that, many of the jobs that are being added are not good jobs, in terms

of offering a reasonable standard of living and job security.

And many of the good jobs that are being added are not accessible to typical workers."

"Thank you for joining us today to discuss the importance of predictable schedules and

incomes for workers."

"Hello my name is Kingia Phillips.

I am a former worker at South Philadelphia Walmart."

"The juice pallets were the most hard to do.

And when you're pregnant, you're not supposed to lift above your head, but I had to."

Kingia came to DC to speak in favor of a federal bill that would regulate work schedules for

retail, with the aim of increasing stability in hours and income.

"After I had the baby I asked them could I have my schedule adjusted, a tiny bit.

And they told me that we all have kids and they have a job to do, a company to run.

And it turned out that they cut my schedule down to 8 hours a week."

"I was doing 32 hours."

It's a common complaint among part time retail workers: that to get enough hours you

have to be available to work at any time the store is open, which is especially hard for

parents, students, and people with a second job.

So after a month, Kingia quit.

"I knew they were just going to tell me to re-open my availability, and that would

be the only way for me to make more money and be able to sustain myself and my child."

The federal proposal faces an uphill battle in a Republican congress, but since 2014,

six cities and the state of Oregon have passed scheduling policies.

The details vary from place to place but most of them apply to fast food and retail workers,

they require two weeks advance notice of work schedules, with extra pay for subsequent changes

that are initiated by the company.

Most of the measures also require employers to offer hours to existing employees before

hiring more people.

"So what it does is, a lot of these policies start to balance out the burden of doing business,

so that the people who are getting who are getting paid the lowest aren't the only ones

bearing the cost."

Policymakers have also moved to increase the minimum wage and require paid sick leave in

certain cities and states.

It's a response to the fact that not only are middle-class jobs moving out of reach

for non-college workers, but a lot the remaining jobs have also gotten worse since the recession

hit.

"In 2005, you could walk into a JC Penney, and it was a stable workforce.

People had full-time hours, and health insurance, and even commission.

It was a workforce that knew each other, and felt like they could make their job better.

By 2008, that workforce was completely contingent.

People's hours were changing from one week to the next.

Nobody knew each other."

The number of involuntary part time workers -- those are people working part time who

would prefer full-time work -- that jumped up during the recession.

And the increase was greater for both the retail sector and for leisure and hospitality,

which includes restaurants and hotels.

This is part of a much broader trend.

A 2016 study found a significant rise in "alternative work arrangements" across the economy.

That includes temp workers, contract firm workers and freelancers.

And it makes sense: Salaried and full-time workers are fixed costs for employers.

Whether revenue is up or down, you have to pay them and fund their benefits.

But if you have a pool of more flexible workers whose hours you can dial up and down to match

your sales, you can save money, at least in the short term.

Those cost-cutting strategies have been enabled by new technologies.

"Today, a lot of big employers are using workforce scheduling technologies, and so

it's an algorithm that's setting the schedule.

And when you do an analysis of when the peak hours are, it's easier to slot people in for

four hour shifts and then rotate it out.

But there's very few companies have systems that basically say, 'My goal is to try to

give people some stability in their hours from one week to the next, and I'm gonna try

to match people's schedules from one week to the next.'"

What this has meant for some workers is schedules and paychecks that change from week to week.

A gallup poll of hourly workers with varying hours found that one out of three said their

schedules cause them financial hardship.

"Instead of giving me two 8 hour shifts and a 4 hour shift, they would give me 5 4-hour

shifts.

So I would have to go to school and go to work 5 times a week, instead of working 3

days a week."

"The amount of hours they give out is based on sales, which I believe is horrible.

One week I'll have 13 hours, the next i'll have 25, the next I'll have 30, then back

down to 15.

And that — that shows on my paycheck."

Target and Walmart already post schedules at least a week and a half in advance.

Both companies have also raised their minimum wages in recent years.

And several retailers have announced an end to the  controversial practice of on-call

scheduling.

"On-call shifts require employees to call employers the day before or the day of the

potential shift to find out if they'll be needed to work.

If employees aren't needed, they don't get paid."

But they're a long way from a model like Costco's which guarantees a minimum amount

of weekly hours for both full and part- time workers.

The union model for including workers' input in business decisions has not really moved

with the economy into these low-wage service jobs.

And it hasn't been replaced with something else.

So if workers feel like they can't find a voice at their jobs, they'll likely keep

looking for one in the law.
