Common Food Ingredient Is �Scary as Hell�. No surprise Donald Rumsfeld was Involved�

Up to 180 million Americans use artificial sweeteners, including aspartame, routinely.1

But the idea that they�re a safe alternative to sugar, even one that promotes weight loss,

is a deceiving myth. In fact, the story of aspartame has been deceitful from the beginning.

Drug company G.D. Searle & Company first discovered aspartame in the 1960s. It was approved by

the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1974 based on studies submitted by the

drug maker. An FDA scientist pointed out �serious shortcomings� with all the studies the FDA

used to make their approval decision. Tonic, which described the story of aspartame�s

approval as �scary as hell,� reported:

�For example, some rats in the studies died but were not autopsied after to discern the

cause; in other cases, the aspartame was not mixed well enough into the feed and the rats

were eating around it. There was also evidence of brain tumors in the rats in several studies,�

they said.2

The FDA�s next move was to set up a public board of inquiry composed of outside experts

to investigate the safety of aspartame, and in 1980 that board unanimously rejected aspartame�s

request for approval.

Meanwhile, many are not aware of Donald Rumsfeld�s involvement in the approval of aspartame.

Rumsfeld served as White House chief of staff from 1974 to 1975. He was also secretary of

defense from 1975 to 1977 and again from 2001 to 2006. In 1976, however, Rumsfeld became

CEO of G.D. Searle. Tonic commented:

�He was also on the transition team for Ronald Reagan, who was inaugurated in 1981.

After the inauguration, Searle reapplied to the FDA for approval, at which point Reagan

fired the FDA commissioner and replaced him with Arthur Hayes Hull Jr., who reapproved

aspartame for dry products.�3

Just two years later the artificial sweetener was approved for use in liquid products, like

diet soda, and the rest is history.

Serious Aspartame Safety Questions Remain

There�s a reason why, when asked whether or not he would consume aspartame, Dr. Robert

Lustig, pediatric neuroendocrinologist at the University of California, San Francisco,

said, �No way in hell.� As he told Tonic, �We just don�t have the data� to prove

its safety.4

On the contrary, there�s mounting evidence that it�s dangerous. In 1996, for instance,

researchers suggested that the increasing rate of brain tumors in the U.S. could be

linked to aspartame, particularly since it was introduced to the U.S. market several

years prior to a sharp increase in malignant brain tumors.5

They cited an early animal study that found an �exceedingly high incidence of brain

tumors� in rats fed aspartame, as well as evidence that the aspartame molecule has �mutagenic

potential.� A study published in the American Journal of Industrial Medicine, which treated

six groups of mice with aspartame from before their birth until their deaths, also found

that this toxic artificial sweetener induces cancers of the liver and lungs in male mice.6

Another study of great importance was published in 2012.7 The study spanned more than 20 years

and evaluated the link between aspartame intake and cancer. They found a clear association

between aspartame consumption and non-Hodgkin�s Lymphoma and leukemia.

Artificial Sweeteners Might Make You Fat

Perhaps the greatest scam of all is including these �zero-calorie� sweeteners in diet

foods and drinks, which people consume with the impression that they may help with weight

loss. The opposite is actually true. In April 2017, research presented at ENDO 2017, the

Endocrine Society�s 99th annual meeting in Orlando, Florida, once again found that

artificial sweeteners promote metabolic dysfunction that may promote the accumulation of fat.8

The study tested sucralose (brand name Splenda) on stem cells taken from human fat tissue,

which revealed that a dose similar to what would be found in the blood of someone who

drinks four cans of diet soda a day increased the expression of genes linked to fat production

and inflammation, as well as increased fat droplets on cells.9

The study�s lead author, Dr. Sabyasachi Sen, associate professor of medicine and endocrinology

at George Washington University in Washington D.C., noted in a press release:10

�From our study, we believe low-calorie sweeteners promote additional fat formation

by allowing more glucose to enter the cells, and promotes inflammation, which may be more

detrimental in obese individuals.�

The fact that the artificial sweetener was associated with increased glucose uptake in

the cells was particularly concerning, as it could have detrimental effects for people

with elevated blood sugar levels, like those with diabetes or pre-diabetes � a population

that�s often told to swap sugar for the artificial sweeteners.11

Aspartame May Promote Obesity and Inflammation

Research has also linked aspartame to weight gain and obesity. A study on mice revealed

that animals fed aspartame-laced drinking water gained weight and developed symptoms

of metabolic syndrome while mice not fed the artificial sweetener did not. Further, the

researchers revealed that phenylalanine, an aspartame breakdown product, blocks the activity

of a gut enzyme called alkaline phosphatase (IAP).

In a previous study, IAP was found to prevent the development of metabolic syndrome (and

reduce symptoms in those with the condition) when fed to mice.12 Aspartame likely promotes

obesity by interfering with IAP activity.

Mice in the study were fed either plain water or water infused with the equivalent amount

of aspartame found in two to 3.5 cans of soda, along with a normal diet or a high-fat diet.

Mice in the high-fat group that drank aspartame-infused water gained more weight than those eating

the same diet without aspartame in their water.

Further, all the mice fed aspartame had higher blood sugar levels � an indicator of glucose

intolerance � and higher levels of inflammatory protein TNF-alpha, which is suggestive of

systemic inflammation. Given aspartame�s inhibition of IAP, the researchers suggested

its use is counterproductive.

Other research found drinking aspartame-sweetened diet soda daily increased the risk of type

2 diabetes by 67 percent (regardless of whether the participants gained weight or not) and

the risk of metabolic syndrome 36 percent.13 Artificial sweeteners may increase your risk

of weight gain, obesity and other related problems like type 2 diabetes by inducing

�metabolic derangements,� according to a report published in the journal Trends in

Endocrinology & Metabolism.14

The Many Reasons to Ditch Diet Soda: Increased Risk of Dementia and Stroke

I don�t recommend drinking soda, whether regular or diet, but most people are aware

of the pitfalls of sugar-sweetened soda. Diet soda, on the other hand, has managed to hold

on to the reputation that it�s somehow a more sensible alternative. This is not at

all the case.

A recent study has even found that drinking diet soda daily may increase your risk of

stroke and dementia three-fold.15 Even drinking artificially sweetened beverages one to six

times a week was linked to a 2.6 times greater risk of stroke.16 For a bit of background,

when aspartame is in liquid form, as it is in diet soda, it breaks down into methyl alcohol,

or methanol, which is then converted into formaldehyde and represents the root of the

problem with aspartame.

Research has even found that the administration of aspartame to rats resulted in detectable

methanol even after 24 hours, which might be responsible for inducing oxidative stress

in the brain.17 Diet soda, which is often sweetened with aspartame, meanwhile has its

own set of problems. People who drank diet soda had a 70 percent greater increase in

waist size in a 10-year period compared to non-diet soda drinkers, for instance.

If you�re pregnant, you�ll also want to steer clear of artificial sweeteners. In 2016,

a study found that women who consumed artificially sweetened beverages daily during pregnancy

had babies with a two-fold higher risk of being overweight at the age of 1 year.18

Diet Soda Drinkers Have a 30 Percent Higher Risk of Depression

Preliminary research presented at the 65th annual meeting of the American Academy of

Neurology found those who drank more than four cans or glasses of diet soda or other

artificially sweetened beverages had a nearly 30 percent higher risk of depression compared

to those who did not consume diet drinks.19

Meanwhile, a report published in the journal Trends in Endocrinology & Metabolism highlighted

the fact that diet soda drinkers suffer the same health problems as those who opt for

regular soda, such as excessive weight gain, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and

stroke. The researchers noted:20

� � [C]onsuming sweet-tasting but noncaloric or reduced-calorie food and beverages [may]interfere

with learned responses that normally contribute to glucose and energy homeostasis. Because

of this interference, frequent consumption of high-intensity sweeteners may have the

counterintuitive effect of inducing metabolic derangements.�

And the risks go on. Research published in PLOS One found regularly consuming artificially

sweetened soft drinks is associated with several disorders of metabolic syndrome, including21

Impaired glucose intolerance Abnormally elevated fats in the blood

High blood pressure The study found drinking aspartame-sweetened

diet soda daily increased the risk of type 2 diabetes by 67 percent (whether they gained

Sweeteners

Although they taste sweet, when it comes to your health it�s clear that artificial sweeteners

like aspartame are sour. When a craving for sweets or artificial sweeteners strikes, resist

the urge to reach for an artificially sweetened food or beverage and eat something naturally

sour instead.

Sour taste, such as that from fermented vegetables or water spruced up with lemon or lime juice,

helps to reduce cravings for sweets. If that doesn�t appeal to you, try a cup of organic

black coffee, an opioid receptor that can bind to your opioid receptors, occupy them

and essentially block your addiction to other opioid-releasing food.22,23

I also recommend addressing your cravings on an emotional level. Turbo Tapping, which

is a version of the Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), is specifically suited to help eliminate

sweet cravings and it can be done virtually anywhere, anytime a craving strikes.

How to Drive On Freeway, Interstate or Motorway and Predict Traffic Patterns | New Driver Smart - Duration: 10:47.

Hi there smart drivers. Rick with Smart

Drive Test talking to you today about

driving more efficiently and more safely

on freeways. Two things we're going to

talk about today: 1) we're going to talk

about on-ramps; 2) and we're going to talk

about traffic signs along freeways. If

you take note of where the on ramps are

you'll be able to look farther down the

road determine what kinds of vehicles

are coming out onto the freeway and

adjust your driving accordingly if it's

a bigger vehicle it's going to be slower

in terms of its acceleration and that

will allow you to move over and move

around the vehicle more or less

seamlessly as well if you take note of

traffic signs along the freeway it will

allow you to predict the movement of

other vehicles along the freeway and

we'll see that today so you don't just

want to take note of the road signs that

direct your movement speed signs and

curbs and those types of things but also

different kinds of signs that will give

you information about what other

vehicles are doing and we'll talk a

little bit more about that in the video

as well and the other thing that I'll

just mention here that I mentioned

everybody is that making greater

distance over a long period of time on a

freeway is not about a higher rate of

feet but maintaining a higher average

speed over the course of the day so if

you can predict the movement of other

traffic along the freeway and adjust

your driving accordingly you're going to

have less slowdowns and you're going to

maintain a higher average speed over the

course of the day so stick around we'll

we're driving west along the

trans-canada highway from hope to

Vancouver and I am in the fast lane

passing this vehicle in front of us

we're coming up to an overpass and

there's an off-ramp on the right and you

can see the pickup truck moving over to

the left because there is a huge truck

superbee so super beasts here pulling

out onto the on-ramp and the car in

front of me I actually let off the

throttle I disengaged the cruise control

and you can see the car here moving

forward and instead of moving over to

the lane so that he could get out and

around the big truck applies the brakes

and in this situation you should feel

incredibly uncomfortable because at the

last moment that person may decide that

they're going to come around and move

out into your lane so you should be

slowing down and with extreme caution

usually covering the brake because that

person may move over into your lane on a

freeway interstate or motorway if you're

driving along the freeway so that's one

of the things that you need to be

cautious of on freeways when you're

traveling and the vehicle could move out

into your lane especially when you have

an on-ramp and their vehicles coming out

onto the on-ramp lorries and big trucks

and those types of things that have very

slow acceleration and are going to cause

you to need to move over and pass and

merge into the other lane so that's one

of the things that you need to be

conscious of when you're driving and

take note of where those on ramps are

and looking down the road and seeing

what kind of traffic is coming out on

the freeway because it's a larger

vehicle an RV a truck a bus it's going

to be slower in terms of its

acceleration and you are going to have

to move over and get out and around that

vehicle and as you saw in the video

there the pickup truck did a really good

job lots of advance notice the driver

was looking far down the road and moved

the vehicle in front of me I let off so

that view could move over the vehicle

didn't move over because he or she the

driver didn't look in the mirror or

check the traffic or whatnot so driving

along freeways I said again you want to

maintain a higher average speed over the

course of the day to make more miles

here you can see the vehicle move over

in front of me and I simply again let

off on the throttle to accommodate that

vehicle moving over and I'll put a card

up in the corner here for you for

driving on freeways merging onto

freeways and that driving on a freeway

is a social activity so the truck here

the pickup truck moved over to pass the

big truck and this driver is quite good

he is scanning he or she is scanning far

down the road and taking note of the big

trucks on the road that are going to be

traveling at a slower speed because many

of these trucks are governed and

unfortunately the pickup truck made the

air that he pulled back in in front of

the big truck here behind the pickup

truck that's actually going slower and

again I'm being very cautious I've got

my foot over the brake I'm covering the

brake because that vehicle may move over

now there's several warning signs again

we have another off-ramp here so that

means that we're probably coming up to

another on-ramp but here on the left you

can see the engine brakes prohibited

signs and this means that large

commercial vehicles buses and trucks are

going to be slowing down here and that's

what that sign indicates to you it tells

truck drivers and bus drivers that they

can't use their engine brake because

apparently they're noisy but for you as

the passenger vehicle driver this sign

tells you that large vehicles are

slowing down and the reason why they're

slowing down is not readily apparent it

could be a hill and it could be some

other reason but the reason here is that

they're slowing down for the scale house

there's a way scale and large commercial

vehicles have to pull into the weigh

scales and get weighed and sometimes get

inspected and you can see here there's

another large commercial vehicle here

and you can see that this driver is

moving into the scale house because he

or she has their turn signal on to

prepare to move into

the ways Gail and this truck in front of

us has moved around the big truck and

accommodated that the other thing that

you need to be conscious of when you

come up to a weigh scale is that not

only are their trucks going into the

weigh scale but there will be trucks

coming out and you can see here that the

weigh scale is open there's the weigh

scale sign indicating that in fact the

weigh scale is open and we continue down

here we can see that the weigh scale is

there on the right and very short

distance here we're also going to see

trucks coming out onto the highway

because they've gone through the weigh

scale and they've been released and just

quickly here there is the cautionary

sign on the right that indicates that

there is merging traffic coming back

onto the highway

so those are a couple of things that you

need to take note while you're driving

on freeways to highways take note of the

off ramps because there's going to be an

on-ramp take note of the traffic that's

coming out on to the freeway and as well

take note of signs along the freeway to

indicate the movement and traffic

patterns of other vehicles along the

freeway click review driving along

freeways and highways that have on ramps

off ramps and obviously traffic signs as

all highways do now as you saw in the

video there the big truck coming out

onto the highway was going slow and the

pickup truck actually got out and around

that large truck early which was the

indication to me that the vehicle in

front of me that I was sort of tailing

there a little bit was going to move

over as well so I backed off to let that

vehicle over but that vehicle executed

unpredictable action hit the brakes and

stayed in that lane which really if that

happens to you should really be cautious

about that because they could in the

last second just move over and cause the

collision so look farther down the road

and see the big vehicle coming out onto

the highway and know that they're going

traveling slower as well have a look for

the on-ramps in the off-ramp know where

they're located as well look up over top

at the overpasses that will give you

some indication of where your are along

the freeway and whether the truck stop

you're in an industrial area type of

places that larger vehicles will be

coming out onto the roadway as well when

you're driving along the freeway take

note of all of the traffic signs and

that will give you information about

traffic patterns along the freeway and

as you saw in the video there the engine

retarder the Jake brakes I'm prohibited

engine brake that gives you an

indication that big truck large vehicles

along the freeway are actually slowing

down and if they're going to be slowing

down there's a reason either there's a

downhill or they're going into the scale

as they were there the weigh scale for a

commercial vehicle they have to go in

there and if they're slowing down often

times are going to be over into the

right-hand lane or they're trying to get

over into the right-hand lane and you

can just you're driving accordingly so

know that if you start reading the road

signs and taking note of the road signs

that will allow you to predict traffic

at a higher level and if you can predict

the movements of other vehicles on the

roadway you can adjust your driving

accordingly and maintain a higher

average speed over the course of the day

and if you can maintain a higher average

speed over the course of the day you're

going to make more mild question for my

Many believe that there must be another dimension, that coexists with our present world.

In this episode, we want to take another look at some new Ghost Videos material caught on

tape.

The first clips were recorded by a young man, who claims that a poltergeist is haunting

the hundreds of years old building.

To finally get prove, he set up

his camcorder.

The next clips shows a bar owner, who can not believe the paranormal activity, his CCTV

camera recorded the evening before.

This video is being live recorded by the CCTV camera in a hospital.The doctor and the nurses

are amazed by the unexplained phenomena.

This man's wife is sleepwalking a lot at night, at when he notices that, once again, she left

the bedroom in the middle of the night, he makes his way through the apartment to find

her.

The media have already impeached Trump

Many in the news media have already indicted President Trump for breaking some unspecified

law by firing former FBI Director James Comey, which they theorize is an attempt to cover

up his ties to Russia.

In the immediate days and hours following Comey's unexpected firing, some news outlets

and TV commentators have indicated that they're convinced Trump is guilty of something.

USA Today published an op-ed Thursday by three legal and ethics experts under the title,

"Firing Comey is worse than breaking a law."

That morning on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," well-known political journalist and former Bloomberg

Politics co-managing editor John Heilemann said reporters should be assuming Trump's

guilt at this point.

"There's a cover-up going on," he said.

"And that has to be the premise of all our reporting going forward."

The show's host, Joe Scarborough, agreed.

"There is a cover-up at the White House right now," he said.

Comey was terminated Tuesday night by Trump, who said he was acting on the recommendation

of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

Rosenstein had said in a letter to Trump that Comey, in his widely criticized public actions

during the FBI's investigation of Hillary Clinton's email controversies, had lost the

confidence of his agency and tarnished its reputation.

Democrats and some Republicans have expressed skepticism of the reasoning behind the firing,

given that Comey had publicly acknowledged a month earlier that the FBI was investigating

whether the Trump election campaign had colluded with Russia.

Comey has not publicly commented on the matter, other than to say in a letter to the FBI that

he acknowledged the president's right to fire him for "any reason or for no reason at all."

Still, some in the media heavily suggested that something illegal is taking place.

Wednesday on CNN, anchor Wolf Blitzer asked the network's legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin

how the episode may play out.

"I think Trump wins," Toobin said.

"I think these investigations are going to fade away.

And he will get what he wants."

Susan Hennessey, another CNN legal analyst, said that if Trump is "able to get away with

this, then it's hard to imagine what he won't be able to get away with."

Liberal Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson used similar language in an op-ed published

Wednesday night.

Trump, he wrote, "is attempting a power play straight from the playbook of some tinhorn

dictator, and he believes he will get away with it."

And despite the stated White House reason for firing Comey, who had previously been

called on to resign by many Democrats as well as the right-leaning Wall Street Journal editorial

board, the New York Times said it wasn't buying the official line.

"Mr. Comey was fired because he was leading an active investigation that could bring down

a president," the paper's editorial board said Tuesday night.

"Though compromised by his own poor judgment, Mr. Comey's agency has been pursuing ties

between the Russian government and Mr. Trump and his associates, with potentially ruinous

consequences for the administration."
