I knew you did improv in Amsterdam, right?
(Jordan) Yeah, yeah. At the Boom Chicago you did improve in Amsterdam.
So what is-- what is Amsterdam improv like?
Well, it's-- so Boom Chicago is this amazing company
that sort of operates like Second City style
improv and sketch.
Um, very much based on Amsterdam and the--
and, you know-- They perform in English, obviously,
because you know, it turns out Amsterdam has mostly,
uh, English speakers there.
Am I saying it wrong?
Yeah, no, I-- I-I purposely made the--
I said Amsterdam in an earlier-- in an earlier interview--
And someone corrected you?
No, I just realized, you know what?
I'm gonna start going with Ah-msterdam.
(laughter)
Are you doing that just to (bleep) with people?
No, it's actually-- That's how you pronounce it. That's how you're supposed to say it?
That's how the Dutch pronounce it.
Ah-msterdam. Ah-msterdam.
'Cause I can't be like--
(nasally) "Yeah, I lived in Amsterdam for three years."
I think it was like a Holland, uh, newspaper
or something I was talking to.
Uh, we say Hoe-land.
Okay, I'm sorry.
Actually, that's actually kind of appropriate.
Yeah, there you go. It is the land of hoes.
I mean it technically is!
It was right there the whole time!
What is the craziest thing that happened
at-at Amster-- ugh.
(Jordan) Mmm, get ya-- Ah-mster-dahm.
Ah-mster-dahm!
All the-- all the Dutch tweets are gonna come rolling in.
(Jordan) It's gonna start rolling in. Yes.
This was kind of cla-- legendary.
I mean, we were doing an improv game
called "The Dream."
(Chris) Okay, okay.
And, uh, you know,
"The Dream" is something, you get onstage,
you get a volunteer onstage,
you ask them about their day,
and then you do an improv game about,
you know, their day. (Chris) Right.
And then you start showing everything--
So Burt Reynolds is in the crowd, in the audience.
Got him--
"Man, that's Burt Reynolds. Come on up!"
So he gets up, and he's a--
You know, he's answering the questions.
At some point some kind of rowdy British guy
in like the back row is going, "Hey!
"What about your hair, mate?"
You know, he's like,
"What? Does it come off your head, mate?"
Oh, no...
You know, this-- and so, everyone's like--
(gasping)
And Burt Reynolds just stops the show
and he goes, "Who said that?"
(laughing)
"You. Come here."
And the whole crowd's like--
(gasping)
And we're like applauding,
and the guy comes to the stage.
And the guy's just totally comes-- just red faced.
Burt Reynolds stands onstage and he goes,
"I'll give you to the count of ten...
"for you to pull this wig off my head,
"as you called it.
"And if you don't, if you wait to the count of ten,
"I'm gonna knock your--" But, so look, long--
There's no-- there's no real twist or ending to this.
It was-- It was-- The crowd went crazy at that moment, um--
Was he serious about it?
You know, he was wor-- half working the crowd,
but nobody, certainly the guy onstage was just like--
(hissing)
(laughter)
It was just such a powerful moment,
and it was just like watching Burt Reynolds take this
like thing that could have been humiliating
and belittling, and turned it in--
just won the entire room,
it's like, that's-that's a showman.
And then Burt Reynolds beat the living (bleep)--
Took the guy outside, beat him with his-- Killed him with his bare hands.
Killed him with his bare hands, and, uh, and, uh,
the guy was buried with Burt Reynolds' wig in his hand.
(laughter)
In his hand.
He got the wig.
(Jordan) He got the wig. And I had to kill him.
