Inside the Chieftain's Hatch: Strv 103C Part 2 - Duration: 9:02.

And welcome back to Arsenalen,

where we're here for part two of the Strv103,

the S tank. Starting off with the commander's section,

his independently rotating cupola.

You can see on the outside there are four per side

grenade launcher tubes for the smoke grenades,

the button for that's of course inside.

One piece hatch behind,

has an open-protected as well as the full closed position,

and I do note i can see

where Ikea i s getting some of its inspiration from.

I'm told this means "washer fluid".

So now let us go on a voyage of discovery into the tank.

Easy enough.

So my first time in an S tank.

I am told that if you are over one meter seventy five,

you did not get assigned to this tank.

I guess you got sent out to the Centurions.

We're trying something a bit different,

not least because this is confined space in here.

They've ktited me out with a couple of Go-Pros,

so let's see if we can see a little bit

more tank and a little bit less than me.

I mean, I'm handsome and all, but you want to see the tank.

Right. So.

I'm not going to go over the controls too much

because they're pretty much identical to the driver's.

What really does set him differently,

however, is the use of the independently rotating cupola,

which is controlled by use of a little joystick here,

which is handy enough.

This is basically a hunter-killer system,

so what you can do is you can independently scan

with your stabilizer cupola,

and when you see a target worth engaging,

you can then slew over the vehicle as a whole until

the sight appears in your counter rotating stabilized cupola,

at which point the gunner is now aiming at the target

in question and it releases the commander to be

free to go find new targets.

Again, we're going to come back to it on the gunner's side,

but he does have a full range of gunnery objects available to him.

This is one of those weird tanks

that it is fully combat-capable with one person

and I really can't think of any other tank where that is the case.

Underneath the optics she's

got the controls for the smoke grenade launchers.

There's two salvos, four grenades per salvo,

eight grenades in total.

Left side, he has a control for the KSP,

the machine gun, and it is independently

elevated by hand and of course

I'm pulling the trigger by accident probably shouldn't be,

but there you go.

There are warning signs all over this tank,

because I presume people think it is dangerous.

Down below where the two pedals are for the controls,

and on the right hand side,

he can fold up out of the way the accelerator,

and you drop the accelerator down…

Now, here's the catch.

Yeah, not really easy for me to drive.

Now the other catch is that although the seat is adjustable in elevation

and sliding forwards and backwards

there is a very large block behind me

which digs into my back

so I can't go back as far as I want to.

But that said, if I have my head to the sight,

it's well clear, it's out of the way,

and it's comfortable enough to at least shoot.

Driving open hatch, well, fortunately,

that's why I have the driver/gunner, not so much of a worry.

Around him he's got five periscopes,

the front one is the unity so it's got a couple of circles

on the right-hand side of showing your field of view

when you change your magnification

from six to ten to eighteen.

Eighteen is quite impressive, it has to be said.

I'm not entirely sure what it's supposed to warn,

but I presume whatever sets that off,

it's probably important.

Down low and left you can see the air vent for cooling air.

I'm told that this tank has no heater a worthy of the name

and mostly it's just residual heat coming off the engine,

so it'll keep you a little bit warm

but I'm told you really want to be wearing winter clothing

when you operate this tank in winter,

which I would argue is a bit of a flaw

in a tank designed for use in Sweden.

I've never been in here in a Swedish winter,

I suspect it is not warm.

That's about the size of it.

Down on bottom left here you can see the launchers

for the illumination flares for night gunnery

and the gun tube is is to his left

separating him from his two colleagues.

So this done, let's hop on over to the driver's side.

The unique feature of the Strv 103

of course is the rear-facing driver/radio operator.

Now, initially this tank was supposed to have a crew of two,

but there are a couple of objections mooted to this,

one of which was that frankly,

combat has a lot of stuff going on

for just two men to handle

and if at least somebody can handle the communications,

good enough, let's have a third one.

A third man is very useful for maintenance tasks,

security tasks, things like that,

and also, apparently, three people is going to result

in nobody killing each other inside the tank.

Apparently with two people inside the tank

by the end of the war, if the enemy hasn't killed

at least one of them the other crewmen will have.

So allow me to demonstrate the position for driving to the rear.

Now, again, I am tall and taller

than should be allowed in this tank,

but you gotta be be joking.

I mean, look. Back is that way, my legs are here.

Anyway if you wanted to go,

you lift up the handle the accelerator is this handle to the left,

your steering is conducted by this little wheel yoke to the right

with a chain that then connects to various cables,

and you look out one of your two periscopes.

And that's it.

I'm told that the tank will go almost as fast in reverse

as it does forward, so this is going to be quite a ride,

I have to say, for the rear-facing driver in such a case.

So you remember those five manually loaded rounds

that were added to the left hand side

when we're at the back?

Well this is how he gets them into the feed tray.

He pulls out this huge handle which at least is well padded

so I guess when he is being thrown around

he is not going to hurt himself too badly,

and he simply uses this to crank,

you can see the chain in the back there,

and in addition you can also set the fuses for the HE rounds

between delay and impact by use of this handle here.

The last duty he has in addition to driving rearwards

and monitoring all the systems is that he's in charge of the radio.

The radio is located incredibly

inconveniently behind the warning panel.

Its way back down under here so in order to access

anything he's got to scoot down and

then look up and see what he's manipulating.

Now, fortunately once the channels are preset

he does have the option of changing the channels

by use of the channel controller on the left.

Is My Skin Purging or Breaking Out? - Duration: 4:24.

Hi it's me, Michelle from Lab Muffin again with more science-based beauty advice.

Today I'm going to be talking about purging.

Sometimes when you try a new skincare product, your skin will break out

because the product's working, and it has to get worse before it gets better.

That's called purging.

But other times, the new product makes your skin break out and it never gets better.

That's just a plain old breakout.

Should you keep going with the product, or should you ditch it?

Here's how to tell the difference.

A purge happens when a skincare product causes pimple formation to speed up.

A pimple starts off as a clogged pore in the skin called a microcomedone.

If your skin is inflamed enough, it can come to the surface and turn into a pimple.

It can also go away on its own without ever becoming visible

Products that increase skin turnover can cause purging.

These products speed up how quickly your skin renews itself,

so the whole pimple cycle speeds up.

Any baby pimples already in your skin will grow up faster

and you'll see a sudden breakout.

However, products that increase skin turnover

also help prevent new pimples from forming.

So once this part is over, your skin settles down and looks clearer than before.

If your skin is purging, that means

the product is working like it's meant to.

On the other hand, what could be happening is a simple breakout:

when you're sensitive to something in the

product and if you keep using the

product your skin just gets worse.

It could be blocking your pores, or you

might be allergic, or it might just be

too irritating. There's a small chance

that your skin will get used to the

product after a while but mostly you'll

just damage your skin more if you keep using it.

It's hard to say for sure whether you're

purging or breaking out but you can

narrow it down a bit by considering

these things. Keep in mind that none of

these are absolute rules.

First, what sort of product is it?

If it increases skin turnover

it could cause purging. Here are some common ones.

Vitamin A products containing ingredients like retinol,

vitamin C products, benzoyl peroxide,

chemical exfoliants like hydroxy acids

even physical exfoliants like scrubs and

brushes can cause purging if your skin

isn't used to them. Most other products

like moisturisers, cleansers, and

sunscreens won't cause purging.

Secondly, where are the breakouts? If you're

purging it should mostly be pre-existing

pimples coming up faster so if you're

breaking out in places where you don't

normally get pimples, it probably isn't

purging. Keep in mind that if the product

is irritating then your acne could be

worse than normal in the same areas

whether you're purging or not.

For example, clogged pores can be replaced

with full-blown pimples. This can happen

with purging as well as non-purging breakouts.

Finally, how long have you been purging?

Purging should only last for

about a month: the time needed for your

skin to completely renew itself. If your

skin isn't getting better after around

six to eight weeks ditch the product.

If you're about to start a new product

that could cause purging such as an

exfoliant here are a few tips to make

the process less painful.

Make sure you introduce the product

slowly. This will help minimise

inflammation and slowly speed up your

skin renewal process. For example you can

start at a lower concentration of the

active ingredient or dilute the product

by mixing it with moisturiser at first.

You can also use it less frequently at

the beginning.

Be gentle to your skin to reduce

irritation and speed up recovery.

Keep your skin hydrated with moisturisers, use

a gentle cleanser and use anti irritant and

anti inflammatory products. Make sure you

keep your skin protected from the sun.

You can treat your purging breakouts

just like any other breakouts. I spot

treat with benzoyl peroxide and tea tree

oil and fade the scars with vitamin C

and hydroxy acid exfoliants.

How to Make Writer Friends with Lily Meade - Duration: 3:20.

Hi! My name is Lily Meade, and today I'm guest vlogging for bookishpixie!

Ava will be back next week, but today I'm here to talk to you about networking.

Writing is often a really solitary job, no matter whether you're pursuing self or traditional

publication, networking is an useful—if at times overwhelming—skill to learn.

Networking is a fancy business term for making connections.

Developing relationships with people in your field is the easiest way to get ahead in a crowded market.

The word "networking" itself can feel intimidating.

It's easier to face and think about if you look at it simply as building friendships.

Networking is little more than socializing with people in your industry.

Friends can promote and boost each other, as well as be a sympathetic and understanding

ear when you're struggling.

This is also a good way to find critique partners.

Start by making friends on your level.

If you don't have an agent yet, look up critique partner match-ups or Twitter pitch contests

like PitchWars and Author Mentor Match.

If you are agented, reach out to other writers within your agency, and if you have a book

deal, reach out to fellow authors releasing the same year.

You want to start low and small, quality over quantity is the goal here.

You won't be able to juggle fifteen new friendships at once, and if you're trying to befriend

a famous bestseller when you aren't even agented, it's probably going to ring false.

That doesn't mean you can't have friendships with people more influential than you.

The key is to make sure that they are genuine connections—don't try and force anything.

The trickiest part is figuring out where to seek connections.

The cheapest and easiest place is online.

Twitter is a great literary connector.

It's increasingly political nowadays, but most things are.

It's still a great place—if not the best place—for book and author connections from

anything to sharing sneak peeks of your work in progress, to potentially life-changing

pitch contests.

Start small by following your friends, favorite authors, and some dream agents, and figure

out your groove by observing others.

The cool thing about Twitter is it allows you to go your own pace.

If you have anxiety, or if you just don't have a lot of time to dedicate to social media,

you can still have quick, but meaningful conversations with virtually anyone.

A more expensive, but just as effective way to meet fellow writers is by attending local

author events or book signings, joining a local book club, or attending industry conferences.

If you live in a larger city, it might be worth researching if there's a pre-established

author group already set up that you can join.

But if you live in a rural area, or you just can't afford to go out that often, online

friendships are just as real and valuable as their in-person counterparts.

Don't worry about the distance.

A good way to connect with people bigger than you is to think about what you can offer them.

A good way to impress someone is by offering to help them with a skill that you have, like

graphic design, for example.

You should always be prepared to hear "no," but it's worth a try.

That's how Ava and I connected.

I offered a collaborative video idea on chronic illness and writing, topics that we both relate to.

And that led to two very awesome videos, and the start of an even more awesome friendship.

That friendship is what has brought me here to speak to you today, proof positive that networking works.
