pre purchase it on Steam I think you get the beta 3 right now so there's a lot

there's a lot going on as you can see compared to the last time I played which

was just a house like just a one-story little house and I think the overall

premise is still the same you got to see what's in the basement you got to like

try to get get to the basement to see what's down there jeez hello okay so I

guess our story now hold eat a pickup so the main character has a model now

that's good I think that's been a thing for a while though so it's like a horror

stealth detective mission kind of sort of games what it is and yeah I got to

look for hits everywhere find the suitcase find the key but the key in a

suitcase lead the apartment open the door okay oh this is like a tutorial

okay so find the suitcase find the key so you find the suitcase also I'm not

even oh I'm still in my part look out all these buildings oh geez okay so this

is still the UM the tutorial then I guess so you okay so that just opens

there's no clicky to open however far you wanted to open okay so it's not like

good how goodbye my king you see so many things have changed in this game because

smooth that please - it's so good oh well you want some milk

alright so I gotta find a suitcase I guess I messed around I gotta get the

suitcase it's old pillow there's a remote there's

key I'm gonna put the key in the suitcase what's on TV nothing okay

alright so find the suitcase find the key put the key in the suitcase leave

the apartment okay and then open the door you suck off I

gotta find the key so you can just push stuff that's good to know

this is so cool I love the style of this game it's like almost it's almost Disney

house yeah uh okay okay all right well let's find a curb barred then did we get

a curb bar in his box maybe no okay well let's put that down

I don't need that okay well here we go we've started now now we got to break

into our own house ooh the crowbar interesting enough can we go in the back

door can't take the back door just go to the

back door right what the f this is our house right like I could totally use a

key on the store No okay maybe not do I have to break in

what turn that off press e to open okay oh there is a crowbar okay now that

turned off the power in the house already

oh so it was in oh oh I actually have to do it on the nails this that's so cool

cool so can I go down I can go inside now I don't have to switch back to the

key dude you could probably open the door can you open the door dude what the

f open the door it's a hoping don't worry about the keyhole just go inside

let's go inside let's go go go inside just go inside just go in okay we did it

yay geez why would you look in the keyhole

so as you can see we're already having issues with the controls of this game

Oh was that my scream oh maybe it was

holy crap so is that the basement it's like a kid

in there oh my geez okay so is this not our house that we're at right now is

this our house okay so all right looking up so I'm confused why does it I'm very

confused do you have to peep through the peep holes what very very confused okay

okay okay so we're home and it looks just like our apartment okay so this is

our home we are home this is our home it's very dark dreary stuff okay so I'm

gonna go back this way I guess I'm gonna go in to the house and see what's going

on can I move this so see in the bathroom

very similar to how it used to be oh yeah that's definitely a thing it's

all dark oh hey okay he caught me all right so now is the daytime again or

daytime now can i zoom zoom in Kinzie

okay all right so we gotta figure this place out then he parked right up on the

cheese dude okay let's turn off power it's a good idea right let's go up here

I'm just gonna explore a little and see what's the dealio is why is that okay so

he's got a room with a bunch of screens and stuff I don't think there's anything

I can really do up here

can I go back home I'm gonna go back home you know I gotta follow me to my

house like the original are you MA but not oh okay alright hey friend

Hey what are you doing what is he doing he's like stuck okay we're gonna go this

way then I can get in the house technically but I don't know what all is

going on quite yet so there's nothing really in the back can I go in here

it's locked all right

is he close what is this a door the opens - okay so that's just a TV then oh

Jesus okay bye Oh Oh what is this what is he throwing

stuff at me okay oh you'll never get me alive this is what are you gonna do

neighbor nothing just look at me because you can't catch me

Hey Hey okay all right mister okay so if I can get a crowbar I can probably get

in there whoa whoa Jesus okay okay okay okay fine fine whatever

all right whatever all right so that's dark again so

reminiscent of the original game for sure can I like not carry this right now

like can I can I have it my inventory and not carry it I guess it doesn't

matter well I have a pillow it's very dark so dark can't turn the brightness

up sir sir we turn at the brightness there's not okay that's great that's

good to know all right so um yeah we're just gonna go now oh he's standing right

there dude why you hey neighbor howdy oh you're just gonna wait on your front

doorstep for me I'm just gonna go this way

don't mind me just hanging okay golly dude you're like a dog huh where'd

he go oh don't find that boy do he is he's running so fast what is he doing

uh-oh hey hey buddy sky so strange so I don't know really what's going on

upstairs maybe is there an upstairs there's an upstairs okay

Oh what is this what is this is it a cage is he up here with me can turn

can't turn the light no that doesn't work

okay oh is that another staircase can it go up this staircase I can't see a

dadgum thing oh it's a door I see okay I

can't I can't see though oh boy he found me no oh come on okay fine

alright so is a daytime so we should be able to see now and I doesn't get rid of

your inventory now when he catches you so that's good it used to do that that

used to be a thing oh why does cars moving very quickly see like right there

he is he's like right there oh hey howdy-do neighbor you checking

your mail yeah I hit you with a pillow what you what you gonna do what you

gonna do what you gonna do nothing nothing fricking dude you got that hairy

chest though okay all right so we'll keep going then we'll just keep trying

I'm gonna try I wanna see what's going on it's a dark chance me going to catch

me I don't care it's F and dart bro I want to do it during the daytime so I

can see inside your house

okay so we got cameras going off oh I can probably run and jump there oh I

totally made that okay I can do this oh did it alright cool so we did this thing

what about this guy said Oh short gun okay cool so that's that's a thing that

we did you did the thing about you guys can be like just for future reference

can knock stuff over okay so I can sift through things later

it's good to know all right

yeah all right there's the Apple this is from earlier it's locked it's locked

locked feel like he's close whoa okay yeah he's definitely close okay

can't do that how about a turn power off okay I can't I gotta run I gotta run

sorry bro gotta run daddy run better get away there's got to be something I got

to look for like a key hey hey can't lock him out okay no oh dang it okay

alright so you get the gist so we kind of know kind of sort of like that but

basically out of his basic house we got a note we got to look for it there's a

lot of locked doors a lot of keys and stuff so I got to find

some keys that's basically what I'm looking for so I'm gonna go ahead and

finish up set off here this is gonna be kind of an ongoing investigation series

that I'm gonna be working on so I hope you guys enjoyed hello neighbors is as

close to the final version I think is we're probably gonna get there's so much

here for me to try to figure out and I feel like I've not even scraped the

surface this is mostly an introduction episode to the series so if you guys did

enjoy and make sure you slap that like button underneath the video and until

next time I'll see you guys later

YouTube Growth Strategies - Duration: 5:51.

I collected the top five strategies that you told me you use in order to grow your

channel.

Many of you remember this email you get 30 days after you used Morningfame

where you can unlock one of two hidden features, right? In this email I

ask you what is your next goal for your channel and how do you want to

achieve it. Interestingly, there is a pattern. Here is the top 5. Number 5:

Increasing the audience retention. This makes a lot of sense. After all YouTube

is asking us to increase the audience retention for better ranking and it's

also a very good measure to see whether people liked our videos or not. So it's

always a good idea to improve the audience retention with editing and all

the intricate details that help people watch your videos longer. By the way, I

actually did a video about how to analyze your audience retention to see

from your past videos what did you do well and where maybe you made mistakes

and people dropped off. Number 4: Repeating what worked. It is very

important to find out what your audience enjoys watching and if you found video

topics that they really enjoy. It's a really good idea to repeat those and

make more videos of this similar kind. This way you can ensure that your

channel is progressing on a guaranteed basis. But also there were a few other

people who focused on getting fresh content. That is very important if you

repeat what worked. You shouldn't only do that because this

risks that your content will get stale over time. So it's also very important

that you should do – along with those videos that repeat what

worked – other videos that try to uncover new video topics. Fresh content. So that

in the long run your channel keeps engaging your viewers. Number 3: Producing

more videos. I think many of you guys told me about this strategy because you

hear quite a lot these days that YouTube asks us to produce more videos. Two to

three videos at least per week. Or even daily some say. But my

opinion is that you can only do that much. YouTube is a lot of work. So your

time is actually the limit of how many videos you can produce each week. You may

think about, though, what you can do to improve your production process. What can

you do in order to reduce the time you need to produce a single video? You may

think about a fixed camera setup so you don't have to adjust all settings each

time you want to produce a new video. Or you think about a new video format that

allows you to edit your footage faster. All that could optimize the time you

need for a video and maybe you free more time up so you can produce one

extra video each week. Number two: Promoting your videos on social media.

This is a really good idea because YouTube rewards people coming to the

site. So the more people you bring the better your videos will rank. But one tip

here: Social media is not equal to social media. There are two types of social

media platforms. One type – that is for example like Twitter – where you have to

build your own audience. Another type – for example Reddit – where an existing

audience already exists. Social media platforms where you have to build your

own audience is a challenge in itself because it's work to establish that

audience on Twitter for example. It's much better to tap into an existing

audience like on Reddit, Facebook groups. All you need to do there is to become

part of the community so you are accepted by the people already there and

then you can promote your videos easily. This is very effective and I heard many

success stories of people doing so. Give it a try. It is in the end probably much

easier to do than building your own audience. After all if you build your own

audience why not do it on YouTube directly, right? Before I show you

strategy number one I want to ask: There is one strategy that I

completely missed in the feedback and that is collaborations. Collaborations is

one of the most powerful strategies because if you collaborate with another

youtuber who already has a very similar audience, then this cross over that

happens from subscribers is very high. Frankly, I'm not doing enough

collaborations myself but it's really worth a try. Give it a try.

Strategy number one: Improving the video quality. I'm really happy that this made

it top one. You want to do better editing, use better footage, do better

storytelling and all that is in the long run what I think will win as a YouTube

channel. It's not so much about whether you have 1080p or 4k. It's about the

content. For example, if you do comedy if your humour is good. Something along the

line that will resonate with the people who watch that. There is this aspect

where the artist comes in. And that is the reason why I think that should and

always should be number one. Let me know if there is a strategy that didn't make

it into the top 5 list but you believe it's very important to grow a YouTube

channel. I'm eager to read your comments. See you. Cheers, guys.

Top 10 AMAZING Facts About SAUDI ARABIA - Duration: 9:03.

Hey YouTube, Jim Here!

Welcome to Top10Archive!

Continuing our global exploration on the Archivist Express, we're heading to the Kingdom of

Saudi Arabia, a desert country tucked between the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf.

We'll be serving a light lunch of fatir and tabbouleh as we trek through the Middle

Eastern country - so keep an eye out for sandstorms as we explore the history and culture of the

fifth-largest state on the Asian Continent in this Top 10 Amazing Facts About Saudi Arabia!

10.

Cuisine of Saudi Arabia One of the best ways to get to the heart of

a country is through its cuisine and Saudi Arabian has some rather unique tastes when

it comes to local delicacies.

More common dishes typically include pita bread, lentils, hummus, and burghul, or cracked

wheat, while more exotic tastes may include Hashi, or baby camel.

In 2009, Hashi found its place in local Saudi restaurants.

Four years later, the tender meat was served to Prince Charles during a visit to the Saudi

Royal family and the Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz.

A more regionally accepted offering includes Arabic coffee from the Arabian peninsula.

Whatever your tastes, just don't get caught eating or drinking in public during Ramadan.

9.

Fame of Saudi Arabia Notable and recognizable names can be linked

back to countries across the globe and Saudi Arabia is no different!

While many of the more notable Saudis are more regal, there are a still some recognizable

to outside parties.

People like actor Mohamed Dione, writer and poet Mutlaq Hamid Al-Otaibi, actress Ashleigh

Cummings, musician Alaa Wardi, footballer Omar Abdulrahman, Jorn Wemmer from Germany's

Schwarz-Rot Neustadt football team, and "Saudi's Seinfeld," Fahad Albutairi.

When it comes to YouTube, be sure to check out the likes of Rotana, MrMrSnB2, zSHOWz,

8.

The Festival of Al-Jenadriyah The two-week-long Al-Jenadriyah was first

held in 1985 as a symbol of cultural preservation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Sponsored by the Saudi National Guard and held in Jenadriyah annually, the festival

is considered one of the largest annual festivals held within the Arabian Peninsula.

Each year, Al-Jenadriyah showcases a series of light-hearted events including the opening

camel racing, which typically features upwards of 2,000 participants.

To locals, the festival is a show of the importance of the local culture and each province is

offered the chance to show off its own local art and crafts in a pavilion created to represent

its local architecture.

Al-Jenadriyah draws in an estimated 1 million people each year, including a presence from

foreign governments that host pavilions to show good relations with the Saudi Kingdom.

7.

Capital Punishment and the Legal System In January of 2017, Saudi Arabia saw its first

execution after Mamdouh al Anzi was convicted of murdering another Saudi national.

Currently, it's a small number, but as history is known to repeat itself, chances are that

figure is going to increase tenfold by the year's end.

In 2016, an estimated 154 convicted criminals were executed in Saudi Arabia, putting it

third behind China and Iran for the highest number of executions.

Executions performed in Saudi Arabia are typically done via beheading, though firing squad and

stoning have been used sparsely in the past.

Within Saudi Arabia, crimes are judged under Sharia, or Islamic law which is divided into

three categories - Hudud, Qisas, and Tazir.

Hudud are crimes described in the Quran, Qisas refers to retaliatory punishments, and Tazir

are crimes against the nation.

6.

The Jordan/Saudi Arabian Border Ever looked at a sectional map of the Arabian

Peninsula and wondered why Saudi Arabia sort of juts into Jordan?

While its borders with Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, and Oman are generally smoother,

this pointed section of Saudi Arabia was said to be a product of Winston Churchill and his

adoration for alcohol.

While drawing the Transjordan borders in 1921, legend has it that the then Secretary of State

for the Colonies inadvertently drew the unexpected angle, forming what's called "Winston's

Hiccup."

While it remains in place today, it has changed slightly since its original creation after

a small exchange of territory between Saudi Arabia and Jordan changed the angles slightly.

It's a fun story to tell, but many believe it to be a falsity meant to glorify something

that came about through years of territory swapping.

5.

The Oil Reserves In 2015, the United States Energy Information

Administration reported that the U.S. produced an estimated 15 million barrels of petroleum

a day.

Trailing closely behind was Saudi Arabia, with over 12 million barrels produced.

By May of the following year, however, The United States dropped production enough to

return the top spot to the Saudi Kingdom, which had also increased its output by over

400,000 barrels a day.

Saudi Arabia may be home to 1/5th of the world's known oil reserves and is now the largest

producer and exporter of oil, but in 2011, Venezuela surpassed the kingdom for largest

reserves when it revealed over 297 billion barrels compared to Saudi's approximate

267 billion barrels.

Despite not having the most reserves, the kingdom's economy is oil-based, with 87%

of its budget revenues, 90% of its export earnings, and 42% of its total GDP made up

of oil sales.

4.

Football and Saudi Arabia Like many countries that aren't the United

States, soccer – er, football – is considered a major sport in Saudi Arabia.

Since 1957, the country has hosted the on-again-off-again "Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques Cup,"

a football knockout competition run by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation.

Up until 1990, the competition was consistently held but took a 17-year hiatus before returning

in 2007 as the "King Cup of Champions."

By 2014, it was renamed to the "King Cup" and features 153 different clubs, including

the 2016 champions and 13-time titleholder, Al-Ahi.

While much of Saudi Arabia's football competition is internal, the Saudi national team took

part in four FIFA World Cup and seven AFC Asian Cup competitions.

Over the course of September of 2016 to September of 2017, Saudi Arabia has been engaged in

the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualification.

3.

Saudi Arabian World Records As they say, it's either "go big or go

home", so when Ahmed Mohamed Saleh Baeshen & Co. sought to create an oversized tea bag

in 2014, they decided to go for the largest.

In 2014, the company took its known brand, Rabea Tea, and gave it the Guinness World

Records treatment by creating a 250-kilogram or roughly 551-pound tea bag capable of making

100,000 cups of tea.

Along the same lines, Al Masaa Café was awarded a record in 2014 for its 1,050-seat coffee

shop, making it the largest in the world.

Throughout time, Saudi Arabia has also been awarded the record for largest bottle of shampoo,

highest above-ground mosque, and largest oil field.

Proving once again that size does matter, Saudi Arabia started construction on the Jeddah

Tower in 2013, a skyscraper that, once completed in 2020, will be the tallest building in the

world.

2.

The Birthplace of Islam The Islamic faith may be practiced by over

1.7 billion people from many countries across the globe, but only one can claim being the

birthplace of it.

In 570 AD, the city of Mecca welcomed Muhammad, member of the Quraysh mercantile tribe and

eventual creator of Islam.

During the 7th century, Muhammad gained favor through his charisma and solution to a dilemma

regarding the repair of the Kaaba and the sacred black stone within.

By 613 AD, Muhammad declared himself a prophet and encouraged peace and generosity to the

poor and promoted better treatment for slaves.

After condemning the Pagan followers to hell and insisting that the Kaaba be converted

into a shrine for the Judeo-Christian God, Allah, Muhammad and his followers were forced

to flee Mecca to Medina.

1.

The Unification of Arabia Saudi Arabia as we know it stems from the

control of much of the Arabian Peninsula by the Ottoman Empire, the result of World War

I, and the control of Muhammad bin Saud, or Ibn Saud.

Under the Ottoman suzerainty, the peninsula was divided into small tribes that constantly

fought for control of regions like Al-Ahsa.

Despite a failed British-backed Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Empire to create a united

Arab state, the end of World War I marked the end of Ottoman rule of Arabia.

Shortly after the war, Ibn Saud took control of the kingdom of Nejd and, shortly after,

declared himself king of the Hejaz.

After defeating the Ikhwan, who rebelled against Ibn Saud's rule, Hejaz and Nejd were united

in as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Make 2-(p-chlorophenyl)-3-oxopentanenitrile - Step 5 in Pyrimethamine Synthesis - Duration: 9:58.

Warning: Sodium is a dangerous reactive metal.

P-chlorophenyl acetonitrile and dioxane are carcinogenic.

Wear gloves and work outside or in a fume hood.

Methanol is flammable and reactions with sodium are fire hazards.

Fire safety protocols must be in place.

Greetings fellow nerds.

I finally got the next the step of pyrimethamine synthesis to work so in this video we're going to make 2-(p-chlorophenyl)-3-oxopentanenitrile.

This is step 5 of the pyrimethamine synthesis.

First we start with 300mL of methanol dried and distilled from molecular sieves 3A as i've shown in a previous video.

Setup on top a reflux condenser.

Now get 15g of sodium metal.

I showed how to make this in a previous video using magnesium, sodium hydroxide and dioxane.

Links are in the video description.

Cut and roll the sodium into wires like this so we can drop them through the condenser.

Now one by one drop them in with the cooling water turned on.

Don't drop in too much at once or the bubbling will go out of control.

Drop in a piece at a time and let the bubbling get back under control before dropping in more.

What we're doing is reacting sodium with methanol to make sodium methoxide while generating hydrogen gas.

In previous video i showed you can also make sodium methoxide by reacting sodium hydroxide and methanol

and then removing the water with molecular sieves.

That method is much slower than using sodium metal but much safer since it never overheats.

Adding sodium to methanol is dangerous in that it can get so hot that it catches fire.

Considering that methanol and hydrogen gas are both highly flammable this can go very bad very quickly.

Nonetheless, because this is a very fast method and clean method, it's the preferred method in most laboratories.

You also don't get contamination by molecular sieve dust which can be problem for some reactions.

Eventually all the sodium will react and we'll have a solution of sodium methoxide in methanol.

Now reassemble your reflux apparatus into a distillation apparatus and distill off the methanol.

We want relatively solvent free sodium methoxide for the next step.

The reason why we started with excess methanol rather than stoichiometric is because solid sodium methoxide can precipitate out.

This blocks further reaction so it's almost impossible to perfectly react sodium and methanol in a 1:1 ratio.

So we add excess methanol and then remove it by distillation.

Don't discard this distilled methanol.

It's still pure and it's also water free which is useful for upcoming videos where we'll need it again.

Now the final amount of methanol is very hard to boil off so put a shroud around the flask and increase heating to around 250 celsius.

Keep heating until no more methanol distills over.

You can tell when you see the distillate temperature start dropping.

Now turn off the heating, stopper the flask and then let it cool.

We want to minimize the amount of moisture that gets into our sodium methoxide.

While it's cooling we can prepare our reagents.

Get 30g of p-chlorophenyl acetonitrile that we made in a previous video.

Then add 30 mL of ethyl propionate that we also made in a previous video.

All links are in the video description.

Shake it up until everything is dissolved.

Now to the cooled sodium methoxide, add the reagents.

Now add enough dioxane so the total volume is about 300mL.

We made dioxane in a previous video from sulfuric acid and antifreeze and dried it using sodium magnesium oxide aggregate.

Now assemble a reflux condenser onto the flask again and gently heat until it starts refluxing.

What we're doing is using the sodium methoxide to deprotonate the p-chlorophenyl acetonitrile and then react that with ethyl propionate to make 2-(p-chlorophenyl)-3-oxopentanenitrile.

Looking back, i forgot to break up the cake of sodium methoxide first, but eventually with enough stirring it'll break up on its own.

Now as it runs it may foam up.

Adjust heating and stirring to keep foaming under control.

But try and keep it as hot as possible.

Anyway, it's no secret i've been trying to do this reaction for the past 8 months and always failed.

I even used exotic reagents like tetrahydrofuran and potassium t-butoxide.

But i never got it to work.

I was almost ready to give up when i posted my problems here on youtube and a number of you saw right away what was causing my failures.

I was working on a too small a scale.

Even without knowing my scale you knew what the problem was.

It was so much work to make p-chlorophenylacetonitrile i tried to conserve it by working on small 300mg scale.

But for condensation type reactions like this, small scale tends to hurt the process.

Stray water from the air and walls of the glassware can contaminate the reaction and stop it from working.

Scaling up makes the reaction more reliable.

This is one of those times in chemistry where size does matter.

My performance problems for the past 8 months was because i wasn't large enough.

If i had just taken a risk and used everything in one shot this would have worked and i would have been done in january.

Oh well, hindsight is perfect as they say.

I'd like to personally thank Hovsep for emailing me and walking through the problems i was encountering. Thanks.

Anyway, keep heating for 2-3 hours.

Then turn off the heating and let it cool.

Now for aqueous workup and washing.

Get a total of 1 liter of water and fill the reaction flask as much as you can.

Mix it up with a glass stir rod and pour it out.

Wash out the reaction mixture this way.

I didn't just pour it out first because i found the mixture solidifies when cooled.

Adding water first helps make it easier to work with.

Once it's all in the beaker along with 1L of water, stir it for ten minutes or so to thoroughly suspend the chemicals.

Now add in 100mL of 30% or 10 Molar hydrochloric acid and keep stirring for another ten minutes.

Then turn off the stirring and let it settle.

What we're doing is neutralizing the sodium methoxide to sodium chloride and methanol.

The sodium chloride and methanol are very soluble in water and stay in solution while the organic products will separate out.

Most of this is done in a few hours.

But i'm going to let it go overnight.

And here we are the next day.

The organic layer on the bottom should have our product.

Now pour off most of the water and use a separatory funnel to get the rest.

I recommend washing the organic layer again with 100ml or so of water for further purification.

And here is our crude 2-(p-chlorophenyl)-3-oxopentanenitrile.

I sent a sample off for NMR analysis and got back this spectrum.

Over here are the symmetrical aromatic peaks.

This peak over here is the chloroform-d solvent peak since I asked the NMR lab to use chloroform-d for the scan.

This here is that one little proton on the trisubstituted carbon.

It's heavily shifted downfield being connected to such strongly electron withdrawing groups like nitrile, ketone and phenyl.

This spike here is left over dioxane.

It wasn't entirely washed out with the water.

But it's not going to affect our future chemistry so it's not worth putting in additional effort to remove it.

Now for interesting part, this complex multiplet is the protons right beside the ketone and this triplet is the protons at the end.

This complex multiplet is characteristic of our target compound and this is very strong evidence we were successful in making it.

Now this broad peak here is water.

For obvious reasons there is a lot of water contamination.

Overall this spectrum pretty much confirms that we have our desired product.

Our yield is 41g or 99%.

Now i don't think actual synthesis is that good, especially for a garage level synthesis performed using ghetto quality reagents.

The NMR spectrum shows numerous impurities like dioxane and they're probably inflating our numbers.

Literature yields for this procedure range from 50% to 70% so i still think we're doing pretty well.

I'm not going to bother to remove the impurities at this stage since we can remove them later in the next steps on our pyrimethamine synthesis.

So there we have it, after 8 months i finally got to the next step and the hold up was all because i was working on too small a scale.

As you can see the reaction, while very involved, is actually not that hard and if i had done it right the first time i would have been done in january.

Ah well.

Better late than never i guess.

At this point I want to thank you my viewers for believing in me and pushing me forward even though i had essentially given up.

I would have abandoned this if it weren't for you.

Now at this point we should check our map again and see where we are.

We were converting the p-chlorophenyl acetonitrile into 2-(p-chlorophenyl)-3-oxopentanenitrile and have just cleared it.

The last 8 months weren't a total wash though.

We also had to make the solvent dioxane so we can add that to our pathway as an unforeseen detour.

Interestingly enough we also figured how to make sodium metal from domestically available chemicals.

So even if we still totally fail in the upcoming steps we can still say we made a new and useful discovery that justifies our research.

Our next step is the reaction of 2-(p-chlorophenyl)-3-oxopentanenitrile with trimethyl orthoformate.

But before that I'm going to convert the rest of my p-chlorophenyl acetonitrile stock so i have a good amount to use in case I fail more in the future.

And I need to make a video on preparing a guanidine salt.

Hopefully we can finish this project before the end of the year.

Thanks for watching.
