They're so poorly studied.

The citizen scientist movement around bats and other creatures

Is being lifted by a small audio technology company

called Wildlife Acoustics

We listen to birds, we listen to frogs

We listen to bats, we listen to whales

Our customers are on the front lines watching

major shifts with warming climates

and sort of the movement of species now finding broader ranges

where they didn't use to have, and what effect

that has on the ecosystem.

Recently, they've turned their attention on hobbyists and citizen scientists

The bat detectors that we have now

used to cost thousands and thousands of dollars, and only professionals had them.

Wildlife Acoustics makes a range of listening devices and apps for iOS and Android

Like Song Sleuth, a five dollar app that's like the Shazam for birdsong

And one of their recent releases, the Echo Meter Touch 2,

is basically the Shazam for bats

For $179, you can plug in this little accessory, hold it up to a night sky, and listen for bats

The free app that comes with them can identify them based on the way they echolocate, because

all nine species of bats in New York echolocate in different ways.

And for that reason, did you know that's why they all have different ears, to catch

sonar in different ways?

Some bats are echo locating over 100 kilohertz

Or 150 kilohertz

So it's way beyond our range of hearing, and it's way beyond most microphones and

electronics by design.

The device brings it down to a frequency that the human ear can hear, and that's how you know

when to look up

And as they get closer and closer to a prey item, they start echolocating faster and faster

and in the very end, when they're right on top of the moth,

it sounds a little bit like somebody giving you the raspberry

So it's like tch-tch-tch-tch-tch

It's incredibly cool.

So far there's no public database where citizen scientists can upload their data

Thought both Danielle, through her nonprofit Bat Conservation International

And Wildlife Acoustics say it's something they want to create

I will also say I had kind of a dream to have

many people conducting bat walks

so kind of like it becoming a thing.

So just so you know it's a thing in England

People over there figured out it's kind of fun to listen to bats, because once you've

done it, it's kind of addictive.

It hasn't exactly caught on but I'm thinking this technology, the new technology,

mobile technology, could change everything.

5 Mysterious Creatures Caught on Camera - Duration: 3:26.

Number 5

This video was taken by a paranormal investigator named Anthony Choy in Peru.

Apparently he and his crew chased the mysterious creature for quite a while and recorded the

creature crossing the road.

Of course, by having a crew, they still had bad equipment.

Anyways, according to his description, the creature or being is said to be half a metre

tall, has red eyes and a head the size of a pumpkin.

Of course it also glows blue as seen from the video.

From the blurry footage, the blue creature seemed to vanish right when a lorry hits it.

And then reappeared right after.

Choy said it might not be of this world but what do you think?

The deep sea is always mysterious.

A lot of weird looking creatures that looks like it came straight from a scifi movie and

this one is no exception.

This video was taken by a remotely operated vehicle 3700 feet down in the Indian Ocean.

It looks like a symbol just floating in the water.

This is what I imagine an Unown would look like in real life but I digress.

Floating about, sinking towards the bottom of the ocean when it changes shape into what

seems to be a comb jelly.

But sadly near the end, the creature ended up getting caught up in the ROV's thrusters.

Number 3

The creature in this video is supposedly a creature resembling half dog and half human.

At the time when it was first uploaded, many speculations have been made.

From mutation to witchcraft to the usual "it must be a hoax".

If you look at it properly, you could see that the "creature" still had the decency

of covering up its private parts.

That's one of the giveaway that it must be human.

Would a creature wear clothes or cover up?

I doubt it.

Apparently it was just a guy from Uppington, Northern Cape, Africa who really loves dogs.

Philip Oliphant loves dogs so much he emulates them.

This video was taken by an ROV (remotely operated vehicle) at a depth of 3753 ft in the Indian

Ocean within close proximity to a drill wellhead.

Near the end of the footage you can see the creature getting caught up in the output from

the ROV thrusters.

The video has not been altered and was taken off the East coast of Africa.

This particular creature is truly mysterious as there are no real truth to be found.

Other than the recording of the creature and the report from the person recording the video.

It happened in Pennsylvania.

Residents could heard strange sounds at night.

One of the homeowners near the sound decided to investigate with a video camera and a flashlight.

What the homeowner caught on camera was definitely not normal.

What do you reckon it was?

This is an old video that got quite viral in 2010.

Its about a lizard looking bird that was found in Mexico.

For a small creature, it does have a big mouth which makes it look like a lizard or frog.

It is definitely a type of bird as it was found flying and was then caught.

Searching the internet, some people have speculated that it might be an owl or a frogmouth.

Whichever it is, I hope it found a good home.

1721 Paras Kumar, CAD data extraction for CFD simulation - Duration: 7:07.

Hello Viewers !! I'am Paras Kumar and in this video, I'll try

to summarize my project which I did during the Summer (of HPC).

So let's get started.

And, here's my project titled "CAD Data Extraction for CFD Simulations" Now before we dive into

the details of the project, it's important to analyze these two terms: "CAD" and "CFD"

CAD or Computer Aided Design is the technical discipline involving application of computers

or the so called "Super Computers" to the design of products ranging from your cell

phone to the wings of an aircraft.

This is much more viable not only economically but also in terms of time and effort when

compared to the traditional approach of testing with physical prototypes.

The numerical technique used for solving problems involving solid materials(like metals, plastics),

such as the one shown above is called the Finite Element Method (FEM).

Another category of problems is the one which involves flow of fluids such as air, water

or even blood for that matter, around some solid object such as an airplane, a ship or

our blood vessels.

Now that we know what CAD and CFD mean let's try to understand how they are connected to

each other.

The CAD model, hereafter referred to as "CAD Data " or simply "CAD", contains the geometric

details (amongst others) of the product and is created using a CAD modeling software such

as SOLIDWORKS or OpenCASCADE.

The CAD data serves as the starting point for various computer based design validation

techniques or the so called simulation techniques including FEA and CFD.

This self-explanatory diagram describes the different steps involved in a CFD analysis.

As described in this diagram, CAD model (geometry) is fed as input to the pre-processor (another

software) which transforms the problem into an equation system which is then solved to

get the results.

This seems to be a perfect process chain but, there's a problem.

CAD data as supplied by the designer, almost invariably contains small details unnecessary

for simulation.

These include: Small parts such as nuts, bolts, screws and Intricate feature details like

Holes, Fillets, Chamfers Using this data directly for numerical simulation

could lead to much complex or even incorrect numerical model.

This made me think : "CAD is BAD" Ok, so I am a "good" guy and I decided to

fix this "BAD" CAD.

Geometry cleanup or defeaturing refers to the removal of these unwanted intricate details

and is one of the trickiest sub tasks in the process-chain.

If handled manually, this could be quite cumbersome and time consuming.

Thus, I tried to develop a utility based on the programming language Python to automate

the defeaturing process.

For dealing with geometry, PythonOCC i.e., a Python based implementation of the OpenCASCADE

library is employed.

And thus we have the modified CAD-CFD process chain.

The utility in its present state provides the user with the following functionalities

: removal of small parts with volume below a

specified threshold removal of holes with radii less than a specified

value removal of Fillets (Edge fillets only) with

radii less than a specified value Out of these, fillets are the most complicated

ones to deal with, so let's check them out first

Fillet is a rounding of the sharp edges of a component For the purpose of defeaturing,

a classification based on the rounding done at the end of the edge forming the fillet

has been employed.

The classes currently handled by the utility include: Isolated Edge Fillet - IEF

Single Connected Edge Fillet - SCEF Double connected Edge Fillet - DCEF

As a demonstration of how defeaturing is done within the utility, we consider the example

of a box containing four Isolated Edge Fillets.

The defeaturing process begins by identification of the fillet face and the neighboring faces.

The next step is the determination of the "Axial line" by the intersection of the two

Axial Faces.

Next, the corner points are determined by the intersection of the axial line with the

two Radial faces.

These corner points form the Corner Edge which should be there in the defeatured model.

Next, the extended faces are created using the Corner edge and the neighboring edges

and finally the shell obtained from the extended faces is to create the defeatured solid.

The algorithm has been designed such that it can be applied iteratively to other fillets

present in the model.

And thus we have the model without fillets.

Now that we have seen how fillets are defeatured, let's have a look at the defeaturing of a

model containing other target features in addition to fillets.

As example we consider the model of a Wind Barrier which is used to alter the flow pattern

to reduce the crosswind forces acting on the vehicles going on a highway.

And now let the show begin !! Thus, we have the defeatured model of the

Wind Barrier, ready for CFD analysis.

sixty-Five million years before the day before yesterday

George and Harold grabbed the box of saltine crackers off of missing Irving's desk

Then the two friends stepped inside the purple potty and closed the door

quickly George reset the controls and pulled down on the chain while

Flash of green light lit up the room and the purple party vanished

Suddenly George and Harold were transported back in time to the late cretaceous period of the mesozoic era a time when dinosaurs ruled the Earth

Cautiously, George and harold picked out of the purple pony which was now nestled precariously in the branches of a tall tree

Here chicky chicky chicky caught George polly want a cracker called harold as he tossed a handful of saltines into the air

suddenly the two boys were swarmed by Hungry Pterodactyls

Before long a friendly looking pterodactyl a quetzalcoatlus to be exact swoop down and grab some crackers from Harold's hand oh

Look said harold. He likes me great said George. Let's get him into the time machine and get out of here

Carefully harold took the Pterodactyl in his arms and carried him into the Purple Potty

Then the boys closed the door behind them reset the controls and pull down on the chain

Suddenly George inhaled and their new reptilian Powell were transported forward in time to the day before yesterday

The door of the time machine swung open and the three friends sailed out of the purple party through the library window and up over

the Town

George looked down on the City streets until finally he located moo, singer Baines car

There she is George cried. I sure love our new Pterodactyl said harold. I'm gonna name him crackers

Don't give him a name said George. We're not keeping him. We're just borrowing him

George Harold and crackers swooped down and landed on miss singer brains car. Which is parked at a traffic light?

after a few seconds the time machine disappeared in a flash of green light a

Half hour later another flash of green light filled the room and the purple party was back

Mr.. Melvin was very happy to see his purple party returned to him and even happier to see his beloved combined Electron Mm

Now all I need he said it with the sneer is to find Captain underpants

Fortunately Captain underpants hold you probably remember look just like Melvin's neatly wasn't too far away unfortunately

He spent the last two days getting himself into trouble

First he started off by annoying some old ladies

Suddenly the players from the visiting team tackled Captain underpants which cost the home team 50 yards and the game

Finally Captain underpants got on the bad side of some skateboarders in the park

He had politely pointed out the no skateboarding signs, but the skateboarders refused to go away

So captain underpants had no choice, but to snap their skateboards in half with his kung-Fu kicking action

Then it was Spankings for everyone dude

Cried one of the skateboarders that little dude. Just like dude. It are dude boards dude

Said another skateboarder. I'm gonna do that dude if it's the last do die dude

Mr.. Melvin ordered George and Harold to stick their heads out the window and call for Captain underpants

The Gray Ball of Light slowly changed to a lovely shade of pink

Suddenly there was a blinding flash of light a quick puff of smoke, and it was all over

Everybody's brains were back where they belonged

Wow, that sure is a weird camera said Captain underpants who now looked exactly like Captain underpants

Could I take these clothes off now? They're bad for my image

Go right a hand said Melvin sneed Lee who now looked exactly like Melvin's neatly

Finally it looked as if everything was back to normal, but as we all know looks can be deceiving

In the interview, Kim Jong Kook shared his thoughts on the trios return, saying, Theres a clear difference in running solo as opposed to running with sandbags strapped to your feet, he began jokingly, When the three of us are together, I dont feel lonely or anything.

I like the fact that I get to take breaks in between while singing..

When asked about their hoobae groups, Kim Jong Kook said, We try our best to avoid certain gatherings; we dont want our juniors to feel uncomfortable.

Afterward, Kim Jong Kook abruptly greeted Yang Se Chan warmly because the comedian sent Kim Jong Kook a warm text message to congratulate him on Turbos recent comeback.

While pointing at Lee Kwang Soo, Kim Jong Kook, Youre so different from this one particular person who doesnt even care about me at all..
