In this video, I'll show you how you can structure your video to increase viewer engagement,
audience retention and get more watch time!
So if you're excited for that, stay tuned!
Hey, I'm Adam and you're watching Tube Attack! If you want more videos to help you kill it on
youtube, don't forget to hit that subscribe button and click the little bell icon so you
never miss a video.
The first step to structuring your video correctly is to have an engaging and exciting hook if
your viewers aren't pumped to watch your videos, if your viewers aren't interested in your
videos from the very beginning they're going to leave altogether and by very beginning,
I mean the first three to five seconds.
Those are the most important!
Now, you're probably wondering...
How can I hook my viewers?!
What do I have to do?!
Just tell your viewers what kind of value they will receive from watching your video,
whether you're trying to entertain them with a funny vlog or you're going skydiving or
whether you're teaching them how to do something, let them know in the very beginning!
The hook I told you guys in this video was: "I'm going to teach you how to structure your
videos to increase viewer engagment, audience retention and all that stuff... and that's
why you're still here.
If you're not interested in that, you wouldn't have watched anymore, you would have left
back in the beginning of the video!
Now that we have got your hook out of the way, the next step is to have an intro or
bumper.
If you don't know what one of them is, you can check in the beginning of my video, that
little graphic I played with my little logo.
This should not be more than three seconds to five seconds because otherwise your viewer
will also get bored halfway through that and leave.
You want to get to your value as quickly as possible.
Next comes your introduction, tell your audience who you are, what you do and why they should
care?!
If your viewers don't care about your content they'll leave!
You can also include a call to action there like I did, I told you guys what kind of value
my channel provides for you, who I am, my name and I told you why you should subscribe...
Once you have established your claim and what your channel is about, you have your bulk
content.
This is where you either do your vlog, do your skydiving video or do whatever you're
doing, you're teaching someone, this is where you do your tutorial...
This is done however you want to do it, just keep it engaging, change your pace, keep it
energetic and pumped, unless of course your video is really serious, make sure it's engaging,
make sure you'd want to watch it and you can do this as many times as you want, while recording
this video, this is about the fifth time I've started recording it because I've messed up
so much.
So if you don't feel like the video is going well, don't be afraid to start it again unless
of course you need equipment that you don't have, done is always better than perfect.
If you think it's engaging, if you think it's good enough just upload it, don't wait for
it to be perfect.
Now the next step is to have a question, you want to ask your viewers a question so you
can get more comments.
Instead of just saying "if you liked the video, don't forget to comment below" your viewer
won't know what to comment, "does he want me to comment about my favorite pizza" "does
he want me to comment if I liked the video" "does he want me to comment on pineapples"...
What will they comment on?!
Do you go skiing in the winter?
Let me know in the comments below!
And that question, your viewers will write in the comments below, it could start discussions,
you can come back and answer them and that way you will get more engagement on your video!
And then you can have your main call to action which is to check out your website if you're
a business, if you're trying to sell a product: check out this product you guys can get...
Have a maximum of about two because you don't want to give your viewers too much information,
too many places to go otherwise they'll feel confused and end up clicking none.
Then you can close off with your own conclusion, outro, whatever you want to call it, you could
be like:"Enjoy this video, don't forget to share it with a friend incase they'll learn
from it as well" or just, whatever creative, funky outro you have...
Then you can have your endcard template, if you don't know what they are, i'll put on
on screen so you can see it, it's where you have your watch next video, your subscribe
button thingy and you can add an endcard over it.
I'll have another video up on that later!
Are you guys already using any of this structure to make your videos?Let me know in the comments
below!
And if you found this video helpful in any way, share it with a friend incase they'll
learn from it as well!
And remember, let's keep attacking the struggles of being a youtuber one by one, together on
this channel, I've been adam and you're watching Tube Attack, goodbye everyone!
