David, what happened to your ultimate gameplay recording set-up?
Never fear.
It's right next to me, right there.
But I thought I could use an alternative set-up.
Ok, so this is what we are working with right now.
This is the main camera and right above it is the secondary camera.

Here's my gaming set-up.
Don't– don't look at the cable management.
I still haven't fixed that.
Don't tell Fin.
Cable management is so important so you don't just have wires laying everywhere.
I like this set-up.

You know, it's like we are sharing...
It feels like we are hanging out in the same place, you know?
You're– I'm here in this end of the table you are on the other end of the table.
I'm still in my sabbatical but as I gear-up to return to YouTube, I got myself some new
toys and I thought I'd share them with you.
Alright, let's get to the fun stuff.
This is the ultimate GoPro starter kit.
Or at least, the starter kit I went for.
I've never owned a GoPro before.
But I want to start making videos that would make good use of it.
So, this is what I went for.
First and foremost, the camera itself, the Hero Session.
This is the third tier, entry level GoPro.
And at $150 dollars it's half the price of the second tier, the Hero 5 Session.
With the top tier the Hero 5 Black at 2x...
2.7x the price of this one?
Now, I'm not going to go into all the details, all the differences between this one and its
younger siblings.
Probably the biggest difference between this one and the other cameras is that those cameras
are 4K cameras whereas this one is a 1080p camera.
You can see it right here: 8 megapixels, 1080p.
Now, on its website GoPro likes to advertise this camera as a 1440p camera.
What GoPro does is basically take that 1080p resolution and add a little at the top and
the bottom.
Think of it as 1080p with a cherry on top.
4K is definitely the future, but, I mean, these two cameras are 1080p, I'm going to
be publishing in 1080p.
For now, I'm very much fine with 1080p with a cherry on top.
So, let's open this bad boy up.

Oh, yeah.
I love unboxing things.
Isn't unboxing like, the best thing?
Here we are.
This is the GoPro camera.
Oh-ho-ho-ho-ho.
This little thing is the camera.
Dude.
Technology!
Alright, we'll put this to the side as for now, and move on to the next most important
item in our starter kit and that is a memory card.
So here we go, I decided to go with the SanDisk Ultra 128 GB.
Now, with memory cards...
Beware.
I think most of us when we look at memory cards we look at two numbers: how much does
it cost and how much does it store?
But, there is a number we should be paying attention perhaps even more than those two
other numbers.
And that is this number right here.
This memory card is a C10.
And that is the speed of the memory card.
Now here, big and bold, you can see speed up to 80 MB per second.
But this is not the number you should be paying attention to.
No.
Ouch!
No.

Ahhhhh.
Ahhh.
The number you should be paying attention is the little one right here.
in the corner.
C10.
Now, what that means is that this memory card is fast enough to handle Full HD video.
Try recording anything above that with this memory card and you might run into trouble.
Now, of course 4K is the future.
If you want to future-proof your memory card you might go for a U3 memory card.
And really, nowadays, a U3 memory card and a C10 memory card you can pretty much find
them at about the same price if you look for it.
Like I'm browsing on Amazon right now and I'm seeing some Samsung memory cards that
have just as much storage than this one but it's actually U3.
So you can record 4K video for those cameras.
So let's go ahead and open this up.
This is the actual memory card.
This is just the adapter.
Look at this.
This little thing.
This little thing.
Holds 128 GB.
Damn.
Now that might be it.
The GoPro itself is waterproof.
It comes with this little...
Adhesive mounts.
From the vantage of a starter pack, the GoPro itself and a memory card might be all you
need.
I, myself, decided to go a couple of steps further.
Get a couple more things.
Like, the GoPro...
Suction Cup.
Now there's cheaper options out there.
However, I plan to give my GoPro a rough treatment.
And I wanted to buy something that I knew, that I could trust, would be able to handle
it.
So I turned to GoPro themselves for my suction cup.
Which I plan to use outside my car, on windows, all type of places.
It is the versatility of the suction cup that makes it such an essential part of the GoPro
starter pack.
So let's open this up.
You know, I need to upgrade my unboxing tool kit.
Maybe I'll start a Patreon, damn it.
You think this comes cheap?
No.
Quality doesn't come cheap.
You utilize by putting it on a smooth surface.
Press it down.
And lock it.
And that didn't work at all.
Oh, there you go, you gotta press it in the middle.

Oh.
That strength.

Now something more essential that perhaps the suction cup itself.
A simple clamp.
Now again I went with GoPro.
$20 bucks on Amazon.
Now I really, only wanted the clamp.
Or Quickclip, as they call it.
But, you know, it comes with a head strap.You will not catch me dead wearing that.
If I ever wear a head strap...
You know something has gone terribly wrong.
Or terribly good.
Who knows?
Maybe with a helmet.
How about that?
Maybe I'll wear it with a helmet.
someday.
But really.
Really, it's all about this clamp right here.
You don't need to put a GoPro on your head when you have something like this.
Who needs a headband when you can wear a backpack like a normal person.
Get your back pack strapped on.
And BOOM, you put the clamp on your shoulder strap.
There you go.
You got your body cam.
You got your first-person perspective.
Who needs this silly thing?
Who needs this?
You know, I think I can make this look cool to be honest.
Sup?
That's it, that's the ultimate GoPro starter kit.
You got the camera itself.
You got your clamp.
Your headband if that's your into that.
You got your SD card.
You got your suction cup.
All of this for $250 dollars.
I think that's a pretty good deal when you consider that the camera that follows this
camera goes for $300 dollars.
So you're saving yourself $500 dollars.
You can get yourself into that GoPro ecosystem.
So I'm going to connect my camera.
So there you go, we are controlling the GoPro Hero Session through my iPhone.
I can go through settings here more easily.
Choose the resolution I want.
All this different options.
I can actually see a preview of what it is I am recording.
Look at yourself!
And yeah, it's a good way since this doesn't have a viewfinder to set up your shot in whichever
way you want.
There you have it.

This is my first experience with waterproof technology.
