The Weekly Yoyo Update: Nationals Breakdown, Restocks, and Drops 10-18-17 - Duration: 7:01.

Welcome back to another weekly yoyo update, I'm Adam Bottiglia.

This week, we take a look at the results of the 2017 US National Yoyo Championship, preview

some new products coming soon to the YoYoTricks.com store, and later we'll get some feedback

from World Champion Gentry Stein on your tricks submitted in the Instagram contest.

But first, congratulations to US National Champion Connor Scholten, who triumphed in

the 2A Division over Mid-East regional bad boy, Dennis Shatter.

These two players at the top of their game demonstrate that the strongest state for two

handed play, is the state of Michigan, home of yoyotricks.com.

In other news, Yoyo Legend Evan Nagao used his signature yoyo The Edge to come out on

top of the 1A Finals division, claiming a Championship title 20 years in the making

with another unforgettable routine.

Congratulations, Evan.

In the 3A finals, recent addition to the YoYoFactory Team, Alex Hattori was successful in defending

his title for the 5th consecutive year.

Excellent performance from Alex as always, as well as highly impressive routines from

runner ups Donald Hodgkinson and Elijah Tan, easily the best performances we've seen

from both of them and we look forward to see what they have in store for the future.

Three time Offstring Champion Philip White again reigned over the 4A division, using

the JetSet EG, now available at YoYoTricks.com, to pull off one of the most technically impressive

Offstring routines we've ever seen.

Some crazy tricks in there if you haven't already checked it out.

Duncan Sponsored players Zac Rubino and Sean Perez also delivered fantastic routines using

the Duncan Pandamonium.

YoYoTricks.com The 5A division this year crowned a new champion,

Bay Area native Josh Yee took the gold, besting his 2nd place finish from the previous year.

And Michigan native Owen Ekblad also wowed the judges and crowd with extreme counterweight

play, earning a 2nd place spot in his first ever performance at the US Nationals.

And the weekend wouldn't be complete without demonstrations from up-and-coming yoyo superstar

Haddi Millican, in addition to a classic performance from National Grand Master Dale Myrberg, and

an invigorating push-up competition between contest MC Graeme Steller and World Champion

Gentry Stein, who we'll be talking to right here, live, in just a few moments.

This week it looks like we're in for another cold winter, because That's Right!

We have the all new offstring powerhouse from iYoyo, the iCEBREAKER.

It is made of machined polycarbonate just like the really popular iCEBERG yoyo, has

the same fingerspin dimple and axle construction, which works really on this offstring yoyo.

Since it's machined polycarbonate it plays smooth and is great for grinds, especially

finger grinds, and we can't seem to put it down.

On the other side of the map, by Friday this week we're expecting we will have a restock

of the Blue YoYoFactory Flight Spacers, Which means the Flight Pro Pack is coming back in

stock!

I know you guys have been waiting for that.

We are also restocking the Aurora and Galaxy marble Replay Pros, as well as the Galaxy

Flight, the most popular colors for both of those models.

Coming in on the radar from outside of our solar system, the awesome new Galaxy version

of the DV888 yoyo.

It is simply stunning that such an affordable metal yoyo can have such an attractive anodization

design.

I am here at the airport getting ready to fly to China, and I had a great opportunity

to check out all of the videos that came in.

The first video that stood out to me was by @salchnation.

Thanks for the trick, dude.

A few things stood out to me on this trick.

First of all, it had a lot of really great, distinct elements.

So, the judges will notice that, and the will not think the elements are being repeated.

So keep that up.

The one thing that I would say to improve this trick though is the movement of the yoyo.

So there was not too much movement of the yoyo, a lot of it was just moving the string

to the yoyo, which you could say that this is involving the string and the yoyo, but

it is always easier for judges to analyze and interpret the tricks if there is a little

bit more movement with the yoyo.

So it makes it easy for them to see that both the string and the yoyo are involved.

So, keep these two things in mind, and you can keep improving this trick.

The second trick that stood out to me was by @c_veselovsky.

This trick had a lot of elements, which is always a great thing.

But a few things that I want to point out are there were a few elements that looked

a little bit similar.

So, if you could try to do a few things to kind of change what the tricks look like,

what each little movement looks like, that is going to help the judges differentiate

each element.

As well as, a couple of the movements were unnecessary.

So there is some big swings that are going on and those are wasting a little bit of time.

So it is great that you are packing in that many elements into each trick, but try to

keep in mind the repeats and the unnecessary movements as much as you can, and you should

be well on your way to making tricks that score even higher.

So the third trick that stood out to me was by @lucas_wy16.

This trick starts with a pretty hard element which is always great.

That sets you up nicely for the rest of the trick.

Two things that I would mention now, there is two elements in the middle where you repeat

the same thing.

So, Lucas, I would say just take those two elements out where you repeat those hops,

and your trick will score a great amount of points in a short amount of time, so keep

it up.

So you guys don't have to play at all but your guna be gaining 500 vc every single time

You guys wana start a new my career and just sim through the only season without playing

a single game.

When you guys finally get to the off season just pick the worst team on the list that

gives you most vc.

You wana pick the most trash team so you don't make the playoffs.

Pick the worst team with the best pay.

Now when you guys pick the worst team you just wana start a game and there only guna

put you in for about 5 minutes or so in that whole game.

So when they put you in all you wana do is foul the other team until your coach pulls

you out.

Most likely its guan be on the second foul you commit.

So keep fouling everytime you get put into the game so you get pulled outta the game

and you don't have to play.

Now the main reason we picked a bad team is because we're most likely guna be losing so

after the first half there guna bench you the whole game or their guna put you in.

Now if they put you in the game you should be down by 11 with a trash team you should

be able to sim out.

So in the gameplay your guna see he's siming out the game but mostly he gets benched the

whole game and he doesn't even have to do that.

So mainly you would get benched the whole game and you would get the vc that way which

is really simple but we're showing you guys us siming out

the game.

As you guys can see the game is going by so fast.

He just started the game and this doesn't take any longer than 2 minutes.

You're guan get 500 vc every 2 minutes which is absolutely insane.

Now you also guna see my homie boi bandz get 500 vc in about 2 minutes or so which is crazy.

Now you guys know this is all legit because boi bandz did a great job getting this gameplay

and he's also the founder so go check him out.

You guys gota do this right now before they patch it in the next couple days.

15 Weirdest Smartphones Ever - Duration: 5:59.

• Most smartphones are pretty similar, despite all the company tribalism; they take photos,

get you on the internet and, if you're really weird, call people. So what phones have been

made that are actually a bit different? And where did the designs come from? Here's

the fifteen weirdest smartphones ever. 15 - Nokia 7600

• This phone was designed to target the fashion market, presumably to increase handbag

sales as you'd need an extra one to carry it around. It had a 0.3 megapixel camera,

which was pretty good at the time, increasing its fashion appeal. However, the peculiar

teardrop shape was notoriously hard to deal with, making it necessary to do most things

with two hands. 14 - Nokia 7280

• And if you thought Nokia stopped there on the fashion line, think again. In 2004,

they released the 7280, which was almost unrecognisable as a phone. It looked like a robot lipstick

and the display turned into a mirror when not in use.

13 - Changhong H2 • This hyper-advanced phone will be coming

out soon, priced at around $500. The thing that sets it apart is a molecular identification

system that allows it to look at the chemical make-up of a material. You might think, "cool,

but I'm not about to start scanning rocks" but this technology will let you see the freshness

of food, check medicines and even learn stuff about your own body.

12 - LG G Flex • LG tried to tackle two issues with this

original design. Firstly, they wanted a screen that drew you in more and secondly, they wanted

a phone that was more comfortable to hold. The answer was to make a curved phone and

the LG G Flex did actually help on both these fronts. It was pleasant to hold and the screen

was very immersive. 11 – Motorola Flipout

• At first glance this looks more like a chunky smart watch than a phone but the flipout

had a keyboard that slid from behind the screen and allowed you to type on it a little like

a blackberry. As a messaging tool it worked perfectly but the screen was only 2.8 inches

so it wasn't much use for browsing the internet 10 – No Phone

• The No Phone got almost 1000 backers and raised over $18,000 when it launched on Kickstarter.

Now, this might not sound like a lot for a piece of modern technology but the No Phone

was in fact a just a phone shaped lump of plastic that did nothing other than take up

space in your pocket. At least the battery life was incredible.

9 - Samsung Serene • Bang & Olufsen made their name making

some of the highest quality speakers for the commercial market. So, it's no surprise

that when they partnered with Samsung for a smart phone, the result was pretty music

focussed. But at almost $1300, it was way too expensive and was really just a chunky

flip phone with few features. 8 – Monohm Runcible

• The Runcible by Monohm raised almost $300,000 during it's round of crowdfunding and when

you look at it, it's easy to see why. Inspired by the look of old pocket watches, it's

a perfect circle, with the camera right in the middle of the hardwood case. The developers

also worked to make it all open source so people could edit it as they wanted.

7 - Toshiba G450 • This would get lost in a handbag until

the end of time since it's less than 4 inches tall, 1.5 inches wide and ¾ inch thick. It

also only weight 57g. The dial buttons are split up in a very unusual way, with 1-6 on

one dial and 7,8,9,0 on another. And even after hours of using it, you'll probably

wish you HAD lost it as it's like trying to text in Klingon.

6 - Vertu signature touch • This phone might not look too different.

It's a pretty standard shape, although it does have some interesting design elements,

with a leather back and titanium frame. However, this series starts at over $10,000 and some

are double that. Aside from all the expensive materials, the most interesting feature is

that you get a 24 hour concierge service that can organise almost anything you need, even

getting you in to seemingly booked out restaurants and events.

5 - Vertu Signature Cobra • Now let's bring some balance to the

force. Vertu's rich people phones have not always been so appealing and they once made

one of the ugliest devices of all time. This bling monstrosity was made of gold and had

a crystal snake wrapped around it. Despite costing over $300,000, it looked like it came

from a cheap market stall. 4 – YotaPhone

• The YotaPhone 2 is the first ever dual screen smart phone and cleverly combines a

regular screen with an e-reader surface on the back. And this isn't just for e-books,

you can go for days without a charge if you use the digital paper screen, even while browsing

the internet and using Facebook and Twitter. It's also great if you want to have conversations

with yourself. 3 – Moxi bendable

• A Chinese star-up called Moxi has said it will release a bendable phone that will

have a functioning touchscreen that you could wrap all the way around your wrist. However,

despite talking it up in 2016, the device has not made it to market yet and they are

not the only company working on this kind of tech. LG has already shown an 18 inch rollable

screen so others may soon follow. 2 – Project Ara

• There's another smartphone that may not be available any time soon but this one

came from tech masters Google, so it's surprising that they've given up. The core idea is

to have a modular phone, where users can swap out sections like the camera and the battery,

so they can customise their device to fit their needs and their budget. But Google said

they couldn't make it cheap enough so it's one for the future.

1 - Golden Buddah phone • When you think of Buddah, you picture

calm, peacefulness, maybe a big belly. But the Golden Buddah phone doesn't really represent

these qualities. At $1750, it was the most expensive handset in China in 2009 and it's

not exactly subtle; it's basically an engraved gold egg. But it does come with a virtual

prayer room so you can ask forgiveness for buying it.

So whether You're the selfish or the selfless, know

We're all trying to be grown Without the manual,

Now's the time to handle Things for you

Because what you do Today can have a lasting impact,

You just have to make it out your 20's with your patience intact.

Focus on yourself a little, but don't forget others have feelings too
