Waching daily Oct 2 2017

My name is Matej Jenko.

I've been with the Outfit7 Group since 2012, and I work as a principal game designer.

Game designing - it's a way of life, right?

So it doesn't start and end when I enter the office.

You actually gamify everything since you are five.

You cannot stay still before you balance out that many stones and that many sticks

and there's a strategy game with what they had, you know, armor class and stuff.

You grow into something else. Something more refined.

Something where you can actually accept a brand and you don't feel limited by it.

The significance of working with Outfit7 and the Talking Tom brand

is that we actually address a huge amount of users.

We have over 6 billion downloads of our apps.

We peak at over 50 million daily active users

and that's a huge challenge and a huge responsibility.

Tell us about some of the apps you've created.

Outfit7 is not limited to the tamagotchis. Doesn't matter that they are fun

because they are conglomerate of mini-games, different mechanics.

You can go retro. You can play multiplayer.

And, as a tamagotchi, we're not limited by the fixed idea of what that is.

Tamagotchi is actually more of an open genre than you'd expect.

The atmosphere in the company...

....I've never had any sort of restrains to approach anybody.

Part of my everyday work is somebody knocking or punching my door open

and actually getting in to ask, "how about this?"

I always try to manage and make some time to listen.

Or even cancel them if it's a shitty idea. Even shitty ideas come here.

But sometimes it's enough for the people, who have the ideas to be listened.

To be heard.

So we are open to comments, to feedback.

And we spend a lot of time, especially in game design and product department, asking people questions like

"How does it feel?

"Were you disappointed?"

"What were you expecting?"

And all those questions are done eye-to-eye.

Now I'm going to show you and our viewers how to succeed in this game.

So it's a healthy environment.

Natural, approachable.

It's a professional and very nicely balanced workplace.

The goal of the company is actually to take all those crazy components

Is it Talking Hank, his house? A new genre.

And mixing it up in such a way that it's really fun.

We believe that it's paramount in the company.

We don't finish, or release anything unless it's up to our standards of crazy components.

Is it fun?

Not yet?

Polish, polish, polish

and then release.

You can toss just about any genre at us. Bring everything you have.

We'll handle it.

Are you ready? I hope you're ready. Because I am definitely ready.

Cabell's Whitelist and Blacklist Services - Duration: 5:48.

Hi there.

I am John Bond from Riverwinds Consulting and this is Publishing Defined.

Today I am going to talk about Cabell's Whitelist and Blacklist services.

Cabell's International is a privately-owned company founded in 1978 that serves the scholarly

or academic library and publishing industries.

Two products they offer for subscription are their Whitelist and the Blacklist directories.

The Whitelist is "an independent, curated database of scholarly journals that guides

researchers, publishers, librarians, academics, and administrators to the publications they

need.

The Whitelist provides complete contact and publication information, multiple quality

metrics, submission experience data, and peer review indicators for over 11,000 verified

journals across 18 academic disciplines."

The Whitelist in addition provides tools and metrics to help researchers with the decisions

on which journal to submit a paper or to evaluate a publication.

They also provide Journal Impact Factors, Altmetrics Reports, and a full range of Scopus

citation-backed metrics.

The journals are selected by Cabell's and reviewed at least once a year.

Some of the information presented is publicly available while a small amount is self-reported

by the publication.

The Whitelist is an invaluable service that institutions and researchers can rely on for

accurate information on the important publications in a market.

On the opposite side of the coin is the Blacklist which is a searchable database of deceptive

and predatory academic journals.

Jeffrey Beall, an academic librarian from Colorado has been closely associated with

the beginning efforts to identify predatory publications.

He had compiled a famous list of these publications, but it recently has been taken down, although

lives on at many sites, it is just not being updated.

Cabell's Blacklist takes Beall's concept into a more concrete and fact filled realm.

Cabell's say its employees "analyze suspected publications against behavioral indicators.

Subscribers have access to a database of detailed reports for every journal that their specialists

have evaluated and flagged as a probable threat.

Each report provides ways to identify the journal and enumerates the specific predatory

behaviors that the evaluation revealed.

Specialists analyze over 60 behavioral indicators to keep the community aware of the growing

threats and to keep academia protected from exploitative operations."

The Blacklist has defined criteria its uses including: Integrity, the Peer Review Process,

the journal's website, the publication's practices, Indices and metrics, its business

practices and fees, and copyright.

The Blacklist as of this date lists 5,900 plus publications

Both services offer a search function with multiple variables, and Cabell's is continuing

to make updates to the search function.

Both are subscription services geared toward institutions versus individuals.

A subscription to the full Whitelist and the to the Blacklist for a small to medium public

university for IP access might run a few thousand dollars, but they are many variables.

Both lists and the site, as with all large endeavors, are a work in progress.

There are usually a never-ending list of IT fixes or improvements to address, as well

as the ever-changing publishing world that makes changes to the criteria and adding new

journals and disciplines necessary.

Small points for improvement at the website include adding autofill to all appropriate

search functions, fixing the back button which sometimes gives wonky results, and a robust

Help feature would be much appreciated.

On the content side, Cabell's has clearly made a huge effort to cover much of the academic

publishing world.

But it is a big world and they haven't cover everything.

Notably they don't cover engineering.

They also are sparse on medicine and health care and other areas.

I am sure Cabell's will expand and round out their offerings in the future.

In addition, their criteria are spelled out very well and their transparency is admirable.

But some of the criteria are subjective and the weighted nature of the items in the Blacklist

adds to the subjectivity.

I know Cabell's is working on the Blacklists criteria to post new, more detailed selection

criteria so that new or low-quality journals do not appear on the list, but that it focuses

on deceptive or dishonest journals.

Despite these small points, Cabell's Whitelists and Blacklists are welcomed and valued services

that researchers and appropriate institutions should have access to.

I suggest all scholarly publishers review whether their journals are on either list

and confirm all the information presented.

Well that's it.

I've released a eBook called, "The Request for Proposal in Publishing: Managing the RFP

Process."

It is a short, focused guide to this essential business task that associations or societies

use to find potential publishing partners.

Coding Games to Life – Luka, VP of Technology @ Outfit7 Group - Duration: 3:21.

My name is Luka Renko and I'm VP of Technology at Outfit7.

I've been with the company since 2011.

I joined the company because it has a global reach.

It had a product that is consumed by millions already at that point in time.

I like to work in a high-scale environment, handling the software development

for millions and millions of users. It's a big challenge.

For me, it was a challenge to join the entertainment industry

because I was always working on business software in a classical software engineering company.

One the interesting things about joining Outfit7 for me was to see

this creative part - on the art side, on the video production and similar,

which for me was completely unknown.

I really like to see how the creative part of it, animation, characters ... get to life

in the software that we then develop.

Working on fun games makes the work fun.

The technology department is responsible for game development for mobile platforms,

like iOS and Android.

It has a team for back-end development where we develop cross-promo systems

and ad mediation systems.

... lots of machine-learning and so on. And for quality assurance of

all the infrastructure and all our games.

When I joined the company, I was leading six engineers,

and now we have 85 engineers in the team.

With the scale of our successful apps, with the new challenges in front of us, we have

lots of things that we need to develop further.

I'm most proud of my team.

The team that I've built.

How they developed. What kind of responsibilities they

able to take on over the years.

I think that any growing company is the best environment for career development of individuals

because in a growing company there are constanlty new opportunities and so I like even more

to see the people that started their engineering career, ending up in a completely separate

field, like HR potentially, or digital sales.

The biggest value that I have is that people own their shit.

That's one of our company values and I really think that it's really important - the personal

responsibility of individuals and how they look at the task and the job they are doing.

I expect from my people that they work hard.

That they are committed at work.

On the other hand, I respect their personal lives.

That they have families, hobbies, and they need time for themselves.

I fully respect their weekends, vacations, and time to recharge.

I like sailing. So I sail a lot.

I spend lots of my weekends on my sailboat.

And I like spending time with my family – that's how I recharge and get my batteries full.

50 dead, 400 injured after Las Vegas shooting - Duration: 0:52.

"Yeah, I heard it.

Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.

And even after we left, it just kept going and going," one witness told KTNV.

At least 50 people are dead and more than 200 others injured after a gunman opened fire

on concert goers in Las Vegas Sunday night.

Police told reporters early Monday the gunman was perched up on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay

Bay Resort and Casino.

The shooter fired multiple shots into the crowd across the street for the Route 91 Harvest

outdoor music festival.

Officers killed the suspect inside the hotel.

Authorities identified him as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, a local resident.

After the shooting, police located two vehicles and a woman investigators called a person

of interest.

Authorities say the death toll is still preliminary.

But with at least 50 people dead, this attack is already the deadliest shooting in modern

U.S. history.

WHAT PICKY EATERS EAT! - Duration: 2:27.

Okay, kids!

It's dinner time.

What are we having?

You know I was thinking that we should probably cook dinner together.

What do you think?

Okay.

Okay, this is gonna be awesome.

All right, guys.

We're not gonna be here very long, okay?

Just needs a few things for dinner.

We're gonna be in and out, okay?

Let's go.

We don't need that.

Stop it, not on the list.

Okay, so what's the next ingredient?

It says we need zaffron?

Did you just say zakaffron?

No no no.

Sefron or maybe saffrone?

I have no idea what that is.

Is there a picture?

It looks like red grass.

Yeah, we're totally just gonna use pepper.

I'm sure that's fine.

Hello.

Hey, don't forget to pick up Worcestershire sauce.

I forgot to put it on the list.

What sauce?

Worcestershire, but make sure it's the gluten-free kind.

Is that in the pharmacy section?

What's this Sun Basket?

Can we go home?

No, stop.

I'm trying to find warmer Durham cider sauce.

Anybody else all of a sudden not hungry?

I think it's time we try Sun Basket.

Who's hungry?

We had a ton of fun making this video for Sun Basket.

The meal we made was so delicious and the kids devoured it.

I love that Sun basket delivers organic and sustainably sourced produce

and responsibly raised proteins.

Also I'm especially a fan of the fact that you can select your food preferences when ordering.

Since I tried to eat paleo meals, it was also nice knowing that the ingredients provided

already fit into my meal plan.

Plus the prep and cook times we're really quick and super easy to clean up.

Get 50% off your first order by clicking the link in the description box below.

Be sure to give this video a thumbs up, and thanks for watching.

Bye!

Art For Me is Everything – Eran, Senior Art Director @ Outfit7 Group - Duration: 3:39.

Hi, I'm Eran and I'm a senior art director.

I've worked with the Outfit7 Group since 2016.

The reasons I joined the company are that I really like the games

I like the surroundings, the people, and I think that I can really contribute to

the art creations of the company.

I'm from Israel.

I worked in the game industry and in the movie industry, and then I became freelancer for a while.

And then I started to get offers from across Europe – in Berlin, Barcelona and Stockholm

And I decided, out of all of those, to move to Slovenia.

The first thing that came to me basically me was the people.

They gave me a warm welcome.

It felt like I was at home already.

Art for me is everything.

I've been doing character development for about 9 years

and in general I'm doing it all my life.

The thing I like the most about it is that I can create something from scratch

that just becomes alive.

In the previous industries that I worked in, it was usually about quantity

they always wanted to get more stuff and more stuff.

Here, I've always felt like it was more about quality.

It was always like we were pushing for one thing

I don't want to see a lot, I want to see one amazing thing.

It feels overwhelming when I see that billions of people are playing with something I created.

It gives me a feeling of responsibility also.

What I give them...

I need always to give something better.

My work is very interesting because I work on several projects with different departments.

On video, game art, and UI, and developing characters.

People here are always willing to evolve and nobody comes here just to do their job and go home.

It seems that when I got here my career evolved a lot because I got the opportunity to work

with people what are willing to get what I have to offer

and they offered me things that I didn't have in the past.

The reason I came here is that after living 12 years in a big city, I decided to come

somewhere that would be more peaceful and quiet.

I would have more peaceful mind - and not just chasing the things that I used to chase in the past.

The thing I like to do the most here is taking my dog to the park because the park

here is amazing and it's something I didn't have where I came from.

I think that every change of your environment also gives you something for your creation.

If you are in a peaceful state of mind, your creations is just better.

I'm doing what I want to do.

This is it.

Working With 2TB of Data Per Day – Ante, Principal Data Scientist @ Outfit7 Group - Duration: 3:15.

My name is Ante Odić. I've been with the Outfit7 Group since the end of 2013 and

I'm the principal data scientist.

Data science at Outfit7 is great because we work with all the different teams in the company

and we actually use data to try and help them make data-supported business decisions.

After college, I moved to Ljubljana and worked at the university on my Phd

and I was a bit afraid about starting something new.

When moving from academia to business and industry,

you're afraid because it's a bit different.

In academia, you do research to create articles and all that stuff. In business, you do research

that will have an immediate impact on the business, which is actually great because

when you invest your time in research, you want to see results immediately.

So in the academia, we had samples of 30 people doing something.

Here, we have huge amounts of users and 2TB of data every day.

The best part is proactivity

– our team is now generating basically most of the research questions that we are doing

and we are always looking for ways to improve different systems

like cross-promotion, ad mediation, and different systems like that.

The data science team is the best thing for me –

why I it like working here. I actually started as one man

doing hands-on data science. And now, after a couple of years,

that's already 10 people in the analytics department.

It's great, energetic, and proactive people from different

areas, like psychology, mathematics, computer science, and so on.

There's a great drive to improve – not just what they're doing, but improve

all processes, the whole team, company, products, everything.

And every person brings some new knowledge to the team,

and I learn huge amounts of things from them, and they learn from each other,

so we are constantly growing together.

We also try to have a lot of fun. It's not just work, work, work.

So if you come by our department, you'll see and hear a lot of

jokes – both appropriate and inappropriate! We also have "mini teambuildings"

as we call them ... and all these different fun and stuff that we do together.

I'm from Croatia and before moving to Ljubljana I lived in Zagreb, where I'm from.

There I had a lot of hobbies, so when I moved here, I brought all those

hobbies with me, like playing guitar and making music, mountain biking, and all that.

It's great here. Besides work there's also a lot of free time to do what you like.

Now, at this moment in time, all those hobbies are kind of paused a bit because I have a

great new thing in my life, which is my baby girl – her name is Bruna. It's really

amazing how things actually turned out, living here with my girlfriend and our baby girl

– everything's turned out great.

Randy Orton 'SICK' Of WWE Booking, Wants HEEL TURN! | WrestleTalk News Sept. 2017 - Duration: 3:40.

Hello and welcome to the WrestleTalk News - I'm Oli Davis.

Nia Jax Supports WrestleTalk As watchers of WrestleRamble will know, I

lost last month's predictions battle to Luke Owen - meaning I had to record a cover

version of a WWE superstar's entrance music yesterday.

Which you all overwhelmingly voted for as Nia Jax's.

Well joke's on you, Luke - because that punishment turned into an opportunity, with

the SwaftNation replying: "Too...much...cringe…"

"Please stop Oli, I can only get so erect." "Not my proudest wank...."

I should've selected other comments.

But none of those matter, because now Nia and I are Best Friends Forever - as this retweet

shows: "NAILED IT!

I mean, the dance moves, the props, that voice...this is pure genius!

Couldn't have done with better myself DOUBLE HIGH FIVE EMOJI, CLAPPING EMOJI, ROLLING WITH

LAUGHTER EMOJI" Nia, you've gotta stop calling me.

I'm trying to shoot the WrestleTalk News, babe.

I'll see what I'm doing that weekend, but yes, I'm pretty sure I'll be available

to perform your entrance at Wrestlema- Randy Orton Wants Heel Turn

Randy Orton was the latest guest on Edge and Christian's Pod of Awesomeness, where the

three talked about "bad physique heat" - a concept about it being easier for heels

to get a reaction from the crowd despite the fact - as Randy so eloquently puts it - they

"look like s***".

In contrast, a babyface is expected to look physically impressive.

Orton jokingly used a fellow Smackdown wrestler as an example:

"I guess Kevin Owens has it figured out.

He started fat and he'll finish fat.

He's trying to get himself over as the fat guy that can fight.

Bless his heart, that's great.

I'm jealous."

Now 37 years old, Randy confessed it's become "stressful" for him to maintain his peak

physical condition - especially with him having a sweet tooth - and he's hoping to use the

'bad physique heat' in the next chapter of his career:

"I love it and I'm gonna use that, hopefully sooner than later when I turn heel again because

I'm sick of this babyface thing, that's for sure."

Technically, Orton was last a heel only seven months ago - where he was aligned with Bray

Wyatt in the one of the best storylines in WWE at the time (although that didn't exactly

have the best conclusion).

But it was never a full heel turn, with the idea being babyface Randy had infiltrated

the Wyatt Family - and he'd reveal himself as a good guy in the end.

And Orton's babyface booking since then has included a critically-panned feud with

Jinder Mahal, over-the-top gimmick matches and a throwaway match against Rusev at Summerslam

last month.

Orton's last proper heel run was in 2014, as part of the reformed Evolution and then

aligning himself with The Authority.

But The Viper isn't the only WWE performer who gives zero Fs...

Daniel Bryan F**** Given Update At the end of Daniel Bryan's first Book

Club video on the Bella Twins YouTube channel, he teased which tome he'll be reading next

- one he presumably co-authored: The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*** by Mark Manson, which

he sets up by saying...

"There are some people who accuse me of giving very few Fs as it is."

So few, I now make that -41.

Bryan is infamously honest in interviews, and in recent weeks he's very publicly teased

his wrestling return in Mexico or Ring of Honor once his WWE contract expires this time

next year.

Perhaps that next book is his way of preparing for the eventual Vince McMahon chat.

Watch me sing Nia Jax's entrance music!

And check out 5 wrestling disasters, which mostly involves stuff bursting into flames!

hellos, how you doing and how are things?

if you're listening to this podcast for the first time

I am Sara

usually i share with you topics or incidents that happen

and i like knowing people's thoughts about them

this time i am back with a topic that got me thinking

recently i noticed that the content we watch and read

became a repetition of the same thing

every time something succeeds,

we find people copying it and repeating it in the same way

and i rarely see new ideas that get me excited

does this mean we ran out of ideas?

or does this mean that people don't watch new ideas?

a while ago,

i asked you to share with me new content creators

who are doing something different so I can support them

Thanks to all who shared videos, channels and accounts

i saw many videos

and some of them

really knew how to be different

but didn't find get the audience to watch them

one of them is a girl that got my attention from her accounts

and i felt that she would be the girl who

will start discussing topics that people avoid

Salam to you all

and finally i uploaded my first youtube video

for those who don't know me,

my name is Ula, i'm 20 and I study engineering

and in my channel I want to discuss different topics

some social issues that we face

and advice and ideas that you can apply in your studies

and in the end

share your thoughts in the comment section

I care about your comments

don't forget to like and subscribe

and see you in the next video, byeeeee

when I watched the video

I kept a few things in mind

one can generally make use of

like the way of presenting

the talk

the lighting

the sound

any animation and music

this girl only uploaded one video

so i couldn't properly judge what she will do

specially as youtube videos

but i wanted to motivate her and shed light on something

that can make her different and unique among content creators

after watching the video

i wanted to write something that embodied the comments i had in mind

at the same time i didn't want to judge before watching more videos

so i wrote something general

I didn't mean something negative from what i wrote

but i was surprised with what i got later on

honestly, i didn't expect to read such comments

specially that this was my first video

people are only good at demotivating me and being unappreciative of the efforts

I hope you share this snap so they can get the message
