be part of us; we want to take our children back to home land,
teach our kids the way you're teaching all your children and we are working
on it. That's why I'm following my grandparents role: getting family to
come back here. We are the tutors; all the elders are the tutors. The teachers will
be their parents. Growing on the land learning off the land, speaking their own
strong language. Now we've got a very special program; that made me more happy,
I just feel like crying looking at them little kids! I am so proud, very, very
proud of what happened today. This is the future for my grandchildren, and their

The Truth About Carbs! - Duration: 3:39.What up guys!! It's your boy Matty and in today's video we are talking
carbohydrates! The truth about carbs.. Do they make you fat? Because I'm still
getting messages from people, emails, messages, when I talk to people about
diets, losing body fat, getting lean, getting shredded people still talk about
cutting carbs out right!! You need to cut carbs out to burn body fat? You need to
just go no or low carb to get a lean. This is a fallacy this is plain wrong!
okay there is no food that intrinsically makes you fat. In a balanced diet you
wanna have a certain amount of protein, certain amount of fat, and a certain amount
of carbohydrates. No food is intrinsically bad and you don't just eat
carbohydrates and you balloon. This is wrong this is a fallacy and I don't
blame you for believing it, because every fitness publication, coach, blog
post you saw on getting lean & getting shredded is about slagging off carbs.
Saying they're bad!! Where did this come from? I don't know but if I ever meet the guy
or girl that made this up I want to wring their neck and talk to them about
some scientific shiz! But in the meantime let's get into it!
Your body stores fat when you're in a calorie surplus... Consuming more calories
than your body actually needs to maintain its current composition. So if
the general consensus is over eating which actually makes you fat.
NOT one certain macronutrient! Your body isn't going to take in some rice and
pasta or even some sugar and convert that straight to body fat and in fact your
body has to go through a process called a De Novo Lipo Genesis. Which is the
novo (new) lipid lipids (fat) Genesis the creation of body fat from carbohydrates.
And this is actually a very taxing inefficient metabolic pathway for the body.Iit
doesn't really want to do this but it will only if you're way way over
consuming the amount of calories and the amount of carbs you actually need. When
you consume dietary fat that is set up to be stored as fat. Those molecules are
ready to be stored as fat. I'm not saying fat is it bad in your
diet but actually getting away with a higher carbohydrate diet and a lower dietary
fat intake in my opinion through over 10 years of coaching has a much better
result for body composition losing body fat and
even athletic performance. So the bottom line here is is the
overconsumption of food that creates the fat storage not the carbohydrates alone.
Of course if you're smashing loads of carbs with lots of dietary fat and
you're in a calorie surplus you're storing body fat. How do you lose body
fat? You need to be in a calorie deficit consuming less calories than your body
needs to maintain its current composition and then you need a certain
amount of protein, of fats and carbohydrates. Now some people will argue
"No but there's only essential proteins and fats to keep you alive
but there's no essential carbohydrates" and with this I agree. But we want more
than to stay alive and have our pulse just going right? Ao once you get out of
bed and you start moving you need carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are broken
down into glucose which every cell of the body needs. It is also stored in the
muscles and liver for later use. It is the body's preferred energy source so
there's no need to cut up carbs, you don't need to cut carbs!!! You just need
to control the portions, the amount of food you're eating if you want to lose
body fat you need to be in a calorie deficit and you should work out a good
macronutrient split and hit that target, hit those targets best you can.
Don't cut out carbs, don't cut out any macronutrient group have a balanced diet,
be in a calorie deficit to lose fat and track yo macsssss!

My Weight Loss Plan - 5 Steps for Success - Duration: 9:53.if I would have known how good it felt how easy it was to get here I would have

my college coach told me to fall in love with the process of becoming great
today's video we're gonna have some real talk so this video is going to be my
weight loss plan and I have five areas five steps that I'm really focusing on
to break down my weight loss goals so I'm gonna go over those today and
just gonna keep it very real really real about this process and what I'm going
through and my plans for the next you know six months year and really forever
the way that I'm gonna make changes to help in this process of weight loss so
my first my first step is no fast food which is going to be really hard for me
because I love fast food and I'm pretty addicted to it I would say I eat a lot
of fast food the second thing I'm going to do is just I've thought a lot about
what forever is going to look at look like so I know making these changes and
losing the weight that I need to lose has to be a lifestyle change it can't be
like a quick fad diet a yo-yo dieting type of thing I've done different diets
in the past and they weren't successful because it wasn't a true lifestyle
change so to me what forever looks like and sustainable looks like is not eating
fast food and trying to eat foods that are minimally processed or unprocessed
because when I get processed foods into my system it makes me want to eat more
unhealthy and then it just kind of snowballs okay so the third thing that I
want to area that I want to focus on the third step is exercise I have gained a
hundred and fifty pounds I'm doing a whole video on that and I'll do a link
just right up there describing that process of gaming 150
pounds but in the last like about three years I have gained I was just adding it
up 65 pounds when you put it on paper it just makes it really real so the plan is
to lose weight and I know one way that I'm successful is when I exercise and I
love to exercise and I love the way that it makes me feel so my plan is to think
about forever and what exercising looks like I know for myself that I'm most
successful when I work out early in the morning because throughout the day I
make up excuses and by the end of the night I just put it off till the next
day so what I want to do is find exercises that I love and so it won't
feel painful I really enjoy hot yoga I enjoy walking my dog I enjoy just going
for walks and I remember I watched this commercial that Blake Griffin did years
ago and I thought it was really powerful he talked about falling in love with the
process my college coach told me the process of becoming great I've always
remembered that that I really think that for me to be successful I have to fall
in love with the process so love that exercising and love the exercises that I
do and I know that I'll build momentum because in the past I've built momentum
with that you know gosh with this weight gain right before this weight gain I had
lost 80 pounds so that 80 pounds I've learned a lot about myself and what
works and what doesn't work and so this list has narrowed out the things that
don't work and I'm focusing on the things that do work and I think I have
an advantage that I've been through this before just recently and this time
around I can take all that I've learned and hopefully be more successful and
have it not be so painful that's the plan
make this as pain-free as possible so the fourth step that I'm going to really
Kasana in the area I'm gonna focus on is maximizing happiness and minimizing like
stress yeah maximize happiness minimize stress so do things that make me happy
and say no to obligations and agreements and expectations that stress me out so
go through my life and find different areas that what makes me happy and try
to feed more time and energy in that and in the areas that I get stressed over
try to find ways to reduce that stress minimize it or eliminate it the fifth
area that I want to focus on is like the emotional side of it like what's going
on why do I overeat I have a pretty good idea but I want to go to you know a
therapist and get help for why my weight has like fluctuated so drastically and
dramatically over the years I personally think that I have an addiction to sugar
and fast food and processed foods and that when I have something stressful in
my life I eat you know processed and sugary foods to help me feel better so I
kind of like I'm an emotional eater I would say and also you know I
I'll talk about this in another video but I was in a car accident and it also
got injured at work and I got injured one time after yoga so these are like
herniated discs bulging discs like ribs that are cracked ribs that like pop out
like dealing with pain management over the last few years I would eat unhealthy
and eat fast food eat sugary foods eat cookies and ice cream and that would
help me with my pain management so now that I'm pain free have spent about a
year that I don't have pain I need to learn when I have you know maybe a
relapse with like my injury or when I'm stressed out like how to deal and cope
with those things instead of going to something familiar like overeating and
eating ice cream or cookies so I want my fifth area that I want to focus on is
like the mental aspect of it that this is the plan this is my plan years of
trial and error I really think that if I narrow in on the
five areas that I'll have success so what I'm doing if you guys want to
follow along I've been documenting just the process what I'm going to do is once
a month to do a video where I do like a 30 day weigh-in so I already started and
I did my you know day one I did my weigh-in and I've just been vlogging
along the way documenting like the different things in the different areas
that I just shared about and how I've been successful and if I'm struggling
with them and just my whole journey so once a month I'll check in and keep you
guys updated just with the short video letting you know how I've been doing how
much weight I've lost how I've been you know how I've reached her accomplish the
goals that I've been working on when it comes to those five different areas I
hope you guys follow along with that because I'll be doing that you know it
probably the next six months just checking in with you and this is just a
real journey and a real experience when you struggle with weight loss and
struggle with weight gain it can be intimidating and difficult but I found
the last time that I lost when I lost 80 pounds and it was back in 2000 where did
I get my goal back in like 2014 2015 when I reached my goal I remember just
feeling so proud of myself and having so much self-love and I remember thinking
and even saying to like some of my sisters if I would have known how good
it felt how easy it was to get here I would have done it years ago and so I'm
trying to remember some of those feelings that I had when I reached my
goal last time to remind myself it's going to feel good and I am proud of
myself right now and starting this process over again and dissecting what
got me here and making plans to get me where I want to go so I think that like
self-love and being my number one fan and encouraging myself and not beating
myself up over this process will really be my key to accomplishing this I know I
can do this and I anticipate that it will take me maybe like ten months to a
year I'm not gonna go fast but I'm really just gonna work on those
