How to Survive a Choke - Give Yourself More Time! - Duration: 5:56.

Hey.

Ando here from SenseiAndo.com and Happy Life Martial Arts.

In case you didn't notice, I have a skinny neck.

That means it's pretty easy for my training partners and, God forbid, real-life attackers,

to get their grubby little arms under my chin and choke me out.

But before I tap—or possibly die—there are a couple of tricks that I practice to

give myself a little more time to work my escape and counters.

Now, I'm not talking about magic tricks here, I'm talking about last ditch efforts

to buy myself one or two more seconds.

That might not sound like a lot of time, but remember, when it comes to chokes, when you

could be sleeping in 5 to 8 seconds, even adding one second could make the difference

between surviving and dying.

So, see if you can hold your breath for 8 seconds and I'll be right back with a couple

of tips.

Hey. Here's a quick warning just in case you're an idiot— practicing choke defense can be

a dangerous way to spend the day if you're not careful.

So, please—make your safety and the safety of your training partners your number one

priority at all times.

Okay.

Trick #1: Smile.

No, not a cocky smirk.

This is why people want to choke me out in the first place.

Instead, I want you to smile like a supervillain.

Like the Joker on crack.

You're going to drop your chin anyways.

It's a natural defense against the choke.

We all do that.

But adding a smile makes it even better.

Do you see what happens to my neck when I do that?

Take a look.

You see that?

It just puffs up a little bit.

The goal is to create a little extra space to protect my carotids and my trachea.

Now, am I saying that your neck muscles are ever going to be stronger than the bad guy's

arm muscles?

No.

But if smiling can buy me an extra one or two seconds, then I'm going face death

with a smile.

Try it right now.

Put your fingers on your neck and just feel how different facial expressions either strengthen

or weaken your neck.

Your goal is to find a face that helps you puff up and strengthen your neck without leaving

you too tight to move.

Once you find your— let's call it a choke face.

Once you find your choke face, then practice it.

Seriously, do like 20 reps.

Go for a burn just like you would with push-ups, or squats, or any other exercise.

The only difference is that If anyone sees you doing this exercise, they'll think you're

insane.

Trick #2: Bullfrog.

What?

I'll show you.

Look.

You see that?

That movement is caused by pressing your tongue into the roof of your mouth.

Now, just like the smile, you have to experiment with this.

Put your fingers under your chin, on your neck, and figure out where you have to put

your tongue to press into the roof of your mouth, to get the biggest bullfrog effect.

Once you find your sweet spot, add the bullfrog to your choke face.

Together, these will help claim back some of this space that they need to

choke you out.

Trick #3: Relax!

I mean, relax.

Look, I know—if some maniac is squeezing your throat, the last thing you're thinking

about is relaxing.

But consider this—if he thinks that choke is working, he's just going to keep squeezing.

He's never going to let you go.

On the other hand, if he's starting to doubt that choke, if he's losing confidence that

it's working, well, he's going to start thinking about letting it go and moving on

to something else.

So, when you get choked, don't just kick and thrash in a blind panic.

That's just telling him that everything he's doing is working.

Instead, play it as cool as you can, protect your neck, and just do what you can to start

working your escapes and your counters.

Now, remember—if that choke is off by even a little bit, you can relieve that pressure

off your throat, or off the side of your neck, then you're not going to pass out.

So, if you can't get out, well, then it might be a better idea to stonewall, save

your energy, and be ready to explode the second he decides to give it up.

One more thing.

Be careful about the noises you make.

When you're getting choked, you might hear you lips start to motorboat.

You might even hear yourself making snoring noises.

Now, if the bad guy hears you motorboating or snoring, he will definitely have a big

boost in his confidence.

Maybe that's what you want.

Maybe that's part of your strategy, I don't know.

Just be aware of the signals that you're giving off, voluntarily or not.

Oh—and you might have heard that playing dead or going completely limp is a pretty

good way to get out of a choke.

Uhh...

I'd say that if you're in a classroom setting with a friendly training partner,

absolutely.

That's not such a bad idea.

But in a real-life attack with a real-life attacker, I'd say that playing dead is more

likely to get you really dead.

So, my advice—keep fighting until you can't fight anymore.

Whoo—that got dark.

Okay, so, let's review.

Smile, press your tongue, and relax.

Three last ditch tips to help you survive a choke and stay in this world a little longer.

The Best Local Pastries and Bakeries of Hong Kong - Duration: 3:31.

on the planet from Wife Cakes to Egg Waffles

to the famous Pineapple Bun.

going to all the different bakeries

which is exactly what we're about to do.

So, Let's Go!

Egg Waffles are one of my favorites.

Waffle batter is cooked between

these two hot plates

to create these little connected parts.

You can get them all over town

but Mammy Pancake is kind of an institution.

Mammy's has loads of different flavors

from conventional like original and chocolate chip

to something a little bit different

like sweet potato or green tea.

I couldn't pick which one I wanted

so I got original and sweet potato.

Macau is famous for their Egg Tarts

but you can actually get

some of the best Egg Tarts

right here in Hong Kong.

So, if you're craving a tart or 10,

Tai Cheong will fix your craving.

This is a Wife Cake

along side Moon Cake,

probably the most traditional Cantonese pastry.

It has a flaky crust

and winter melon and sugar on the inside.

It's a delicacy in Hong Kong

and people would take boxes home with them.

Hang Heung is famous for them.

Talking about another Hong Kong institution,

this is Kam Wah Cafe

and they make some amazing Pineapple Buns.

So you would think that a Pineapple Bun

would have some kind of pineapple flavor to it,

but it doesn't.

It's literally just a Chinese style bun

with a crispy, sugary, coating on top

that resembles a pineapple, sort of.

It's best enjoyed with a big slab of butter

and loads of milk tea.

Great.

One of the best ways to experience Chinese baked goods

is at an old school Chinese bakery.

There used to be lots and lots around in Hong Kong

but these days, they're a little bit harder to find.

They're great because they're cheap,

have loads of different options

and deliver on that old school Hong Kong vibe

that the new ones just can't.

Yut Gaw, Yer Tat.

Okay, so let's try a few of these things.

This is a Coconut Tart.

In Cantonese, it's called a Yer Tat.

It's basically like a biscuit pastry

with buttery coconut filling.

But it's pretty good.

You're gonna like that.

This is called a Hong Dou Bing.

It's basically glutinous flour

with red bean filling.

Most Westerners don't love red bean

but the Chinese and especially the Hong Kongers love it.

And then there's this

which looks like a giant rice cake

but is actually the glutinous flour again

with some banana essence or flavor in it.

That's a lot better than I expected.

So, there you have it.

Some of the must try baked goods in Hong Kong

but there's loads more to try.

If you wanted to, you could eat all night long.

Not me though.

I am stuffed.

I don't want to see another baked good

in a very long time.

Except maybe Egg Tart,

I can eat them all night long.

Good morning dear followers

with an update of the Human Power Team

Last Wednesday we had a draft meeting

with many former members of the Human Power Team

We heard many interesting opinions there

so we have some small points of improvement

Last Friday during the team meeting at

the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam

We attended a presentation about safety

from old team member Dylan Kreynen

It was about the safety of the athlete

but also about risk management during the runs

Go or no go

The budget of Human Power Team 8 is finally clear

That means that I will call as many businesses as possible today

because the financial health of this project is my responsibility

This Friday Team 7 will be honoured at TU Delft

and our engineers will decide which concepts they are going to use

in the VeloX 8

In the end we will celebrate this by

going on a dinner with the whole team

at the Royal Palace in Delft Zuid

Besides the World Human Powered Speed Challenge

we want to challenge ourselfs as a team even more

Paris Hilton Holographic Makeup Set: Monday Must Haves or Must Not - Duration: 13:09.

everybody welcome back to my channel so today's the videos of Monday must have

her must not it's a first impression video so if you are interest and seeing

you to miss any so let's go and get started so this week's Monday must-have

or must not is something I've never heard of before I haven't seen any

videos about it ain't even seen any social media presence on it but it is

the Paris Hilton makeup collection and it is holographic eyeshadow and

holographic lipgloss and it's Astro purple I got at my local Ross for $4.99

didn't even know Paris Hilton had a makeup line so I was very very curious a

little bit of makeup on well that's all I have a lot of makeup on foundation

concealer powder a little bit on taurine and eyebrows but yeah let's just go in

and get started like so this is the holographic eyeshadow and I love higher

holographic lipgloss sorry guys I am still sick but what's really cool was it

is designed in the US and it's not tested on animals so that's is really

really nice I love the packaging I'm not a what people call themselves the hollow

sexuals I'm I'm not that you know I do like shimmer and glitter and stuff like

that but it's really really pretty packaging but yeah that is it was really

really pretty ok let's see so the eye shadow is 5 mil

5 milliliters or point 1 7 ounces and the lip gloss is 6 grams or 0.2 1 ounces

so I did a very very basic look because I just kind of look

these would look like on the skin so I'm just regular very standard packaging

maybe a little bit of Google Chrome or something but let's go ahead and just

this is my first time touching it it's very soft

like a weird like next her almost really pretty though

it's pretty color that lip gloss looks pretty I'm supposed telling vanilla the

class feels very anybody remember those roller lip glosses I got that very

greasy fill it looks really pretty in the packaging but in on the skin it

doesn't really just looks like clear grease or oil anyway okay I was kind of

really open this eyeshadow would be kind of I could also use it as a highlighter

what I'm gonna do first is I'm gonna go ahead and apply it to my eyes I think

and see what it looks like and I'm just putting some of this on my finger to my

lid

um I kind of stuck to my finger pretty just looks like a

I'm a basic shadow to me though

I don't know okay so what I really oughta for was to see about highlighters

but let's see if it works get on a brush just have my good old eco tools it's

just a lot of Fallout which was nice on the brush

um

I'm not seeing much of anything on the eyes it's something a little bit on the

face now

I mean I don't know first impression I mean this is what the back of the box

looks like that's supposed to be that I effect I mean obviously you can tell

that she's wearing like lip color I need that lip gloss but it doesn't make you

pretty highlighter so far not bad okay next I'm gonna go ahead and try the lip

gloss I am going to go ahead and put some matte purple lipstick down this is

the long-lasting matte liquid lipstick by Santee this is in number nine so I'm

going to hurry up and apply this and let it dry and then we'll go ahead and get

this holographic lip gloss tried it good lipstick on really do you love these but

I'm gonna go ahead and put on this holographic lip gloss let's go ahead and

give it a go straight down

it's kind of taken up the liquid lipstick

I'm not personally seeing holographic

okay I got some on the bottom lip and not the top lip

it's very very thin it's very greasy

definitely not seeing much of any kind of even shimmer I think it looks a

little glossy but not really see him

yeah but it's just totally lifting up that liquid lipstick and this is liquid

lipstick I have to scrub off with olive oil so that's kind of telling yeah

greasy this is yeah it's totally it's gross

so let's go ahead and discuss my first impressions of the Paris Hilton makeup

little collection I got a holographic eyeshadow and the holographic lipgloss

okay so first off I'm giving it you know five stars for price I mean it was $4.99

you got a big eye shadow and a lip gloss for $4.99 that's a really really good

deal for quality I'm gonna split them so with the holographic eyeshadow I

honestly probably wouldn't use it as an eyeshadow I can definitely see it as

maybe like an inner corner highlight or just as a regular face highlighter it's

pretty so I would probably give this like 4 stars out of 5 but I probably

wouldn't use that as honest its intended purpose the lip gloss yeah no I have

gotten better lip glosses from the dollar store

there's nothing holographic about it it's very greasy it's actually starting

to remove my liquid lipstick which this stuff is heavy duty so that's telling

you how greasy it is it smells good but no this is a pass for me but I do think

that I shadow used as a highlighter is really really pretty

some just kind of got some nice shift to it once again I've gotten better

highlighters you know from wet mile I love wet wild hat lighters so it's

really really pretty though it's unique it's kind of got this purple pinky rosy

shift to it so if you do see this at your little local Ross and you're

interested in it it's five bucks I don't think it's gonna hurt anything but

neither product is holographic just put a nut right out there the lip gloss is

not my cup of tea it's my opinion not a good lip gloss even just if you're just

going for shine not a great glass the eye shadow it's okay I'm like I said I

definitely do think it definitely is more about you to me as a highlighter

but as a eyeshadow no but yeah so guys just kind of first impressions of the

Paris Hilton holographic eyeshadow and holographic lip gloss once again really

really good price you know if you're interested definitely took it out but

you know this is just my opinion you might have a totally different

experience than I do both so far you know this is okay you know I will

definitely use it again it is pretty honestly this is you know I'm not gonna

throw it away but I'm probably never going to use the game it's just not good

probably not any more of these holographic lip glosses but I would
