ELM (ENTTEC LED Mapper) tutorial #6: mapping the Flower of Life - Duration: 5:38.

Let's create a nice Flower of Life mapping

First, we create the stage that will contain the whole flower

We now add the circle for the middle of the flower

Select the loop shape to create a circle

For the other settings, let say each circle is a strip with 170 RGB LEDs

Use the precise offset/resize tool to resize the middle circle of the flower

We'll create the 6 petals by duplicating the middle circle

Each circle will be rotated by 60 degrees around the center of the flower

The little calculator comes handy when you feel a bit lazy

Use the rotate center X and Y offsets to set the distance of the petals to the middle of the flower

Here are the petals!

We rotate the petals a little to have two petals at the top

Next, we align the petals with the middle of the flower

Another handy adjustment we can do is to put the first LED of each petal close to the middle

Uncheck the rotate as a group option to rotate each petal independently

This way, each petal rotates on itself and you can see the first LEDs (green points) moving to the middle of the flower

Now let's resize the flower to take the whole stage, which has a height of 720 pixels

The flower mapping is now completed

Here's the trick to map the middle and each petal individually

Select all circles, right-click in the list and select the "new stages from strips" menu

We select the one stage per strip all lines menu

This creates one stage per strip and unrolls each circle to be a line

Let's see what it means by looking at the monitor for the flower and moving a line over the unrolled middle circle

Use the testing mode to quickly generate a rectangle that we can move over the strip

As you can see, the middle circle has been mapped onto a line, which makes it easy to target individual pixel

If we put some content on the flower stage, we can see that all strips are activated

Let's go over each stage and see that we now have total control over each circle

Now, let's play some effects

Each stage is a layer and is merged following the merge mode and the stage intensity (opacity)

You can create complex results through simple merged layers of effects

In the live tab, you can manually select and control the content on each stage

Let's play the rain effect on the flower stage

Most effects can be configured by right-clicking on it or going in the media tab

Usually, you'll use videos for the final installation. But the built-in effects are great for testing.

Now we put a noise effect on the middle circle

Since we're merging the stage using the intensityWhiteFade mode, the intensity determines the blending level

Now let's run a line effect on each petal and use a different color for each one

Keep in mind that everything you see here can be remotely controlled via a lighting console or other input modes

So now, we have one effect running on the whole flower and a different effect on each circle

Each stage, which is mapping a different zone of the whole flower, can be controlled independently
