Hi guys! How are you today? I hope that you are doing super good.
And welcome to those who are new to the channel.
Today tourism day is celebrated.
We are going to visit a place. The place that we are going to visit is a ¨magical town¨.
A ¨magical town¨ is a program developed by the Secretary of Tourism, for those destinations that are different because of its
colonial architecture, history, and culture that make them special to Mexico.
Places that are very rich to visit.
And in Sonora we have two out of 111, which are Alamos and Magdalena de Kino.
And today we are going to visit Alamos.
And this year Sustainable Tourism is the theme!
The magical town of Alamos was founded December 8th, 1685.
In the old times it was called ¨Real de la Limpia Concepción de los Alamos¨, but now it is Alamos for short.
In 2005 the SECTUR established it as a magical town.
It outstands for its colonial architecture, every building has that antique touch, and that is what makes Alamos so beautiful.
It is also known for its jumping beans. Basically it´s a small fruit, and inside it there is a larva that has to be moving, because that is part of its life process.
They last in there for six months and then they come out. It is also a fountain of income for them because it is exported to China, Japan, U.S.A. so that they can make play games with them.
Around June and July all the trees, or at least some of them, start dropping the fruits. And you can hear them dancing on the floor.
These are the 11 things you can do or places to visit.
Destination number one is to visit the museum of María Felix.
When María Felix and others were born, they were gifted cattle, and this was her branding.
Original Davinci shoes.
I am with Lucy, she was giving us the tour around the museum. Lucy: We invite you to come and visit Alamos, it is very beautiful.
And come visit us in the museum so that you can see the 47 stages of her life. Paola: María Felix was a Mexican icon, a total star of Mexico, and Lucy very gladly will give you a tour around.
The museum was founded by Lynda R. Barrondes, she was a Canadian woman. She bought this museum when it was a house in ruins. All the personal items of María Felix can be observed here.
Destination number 2: Teresita's Cafe.
I tried the coffee and the bread, they are very good! You mentioned us Maria Jose, that everything is organic?
Teresita's is based on trying to consume organic products as much as possible.
We try to boost our local suppliers.
And you mentioned the coffee was from Chiapas, Oaxaca..
Chiapas and Oaxaca. The people really like it, we have our self service and you can refill, because nobody has only one cup.
No! You repeat! And I loved it because you come in, and it is very characterized for its, culture and ..
It is very based on its food, without leaving apart the art, and style. That is why we always look for things to give the tourist and experience, with the design of the place.
I invite you to Alamos, it is very beautiful and it has so much history and a precious architecture.
Thank you so much María Jose. Come to Teresita's!
I came to the bathroom quickly and I couldn't find the toilet. I was going to open this door. But it is back here.
Where is the toilet?
That's what I was explaining.
The bathroom toilet is behind the sink. Thank you..
Destination number 3: Trip on a train around Alamos!
Hospitality Alamense, one single place, Hotel Los Arcos.
Friends, destination number 4 is Casa de las Delicias.
It's a haunted place. A girl lived here, her parents were Spanish. She was in love with the gardener, and her parents wouldn't let her be.
So upstairs, in the balcony, once she had her wedding dress and everything, since they didn't let her get married, she committed suicide.
And they say that she makes appearances around here, I don't know why we are going in, but we are.
Are you sure? Let's go upstairs! Um.. no..
Interesting..
The rooms are a bit creepy.
She supposedly commited suicide up there! There's a pool here.
She makes appearances in the day time too, day and night.
Uh.. here?
She chocked herself with her veil and jumped. She has been seen in the fountain too.
I suppose that this house was once pretty right?
They say that in that little bench over there she sits down too, and from there she would go to the grave yard, where we are going to go next.
Destination number 5: the municipality grave yard. The tombs have an interesting story.
They would make like small cribs out of cement. And they would place one on top of the other, like this one. Here is the first one, it closes,
there are some that are even three levels up.
In the old times only people who had money were buried here.
An influence came, there was a limited availability, that is why there are many toms designed that way because it took place in those times.
And the most surprising thing is, that now in the present, it still has its original stone.
The destination number 6 is visit the Concepción church.
In the heart of Alamos this magic church was built. The first bishop of Sonora started it. He died, and the construction stopped, but then it was taken on by other
people, until it was finished in 1804, and now it is a historic monument.
We are with the gentleman Antonio Estrada who has a message for you. This is the Costumbrista museum here in Alamos, we invite you to visit us.
The front part of the museum was a store in the old times called, ¨Mercería La Paz¨, and the owners lived in the back part and here is their original kitchen.
This is a small representation of a mine.
It is so deep! You can see green down there, like if they would have found an emerald.
This is an inventory of the mine.
They would export the silver or the coins. Once a year, they would send donkeys loaded with silver bars. They would send them to the center of Mexico,
and sometimes the people here would also send orders, so you can imagine the time it would take for them to arrive.
Each donkey was loaded with two silver bars, since each one weighed about 45 kilograms. So imagine how many donkeys they had to have sent!
Destination number 8, the central plaza of Alamos. A little bit ahead you can by souvenirs.
I bought a lot. This is a little mine car. I bought this bracelet. Little drums that say Alamos, and you can get your name burned on it.
We are in a restaurant called Doña Lola, where we are going to try a main dish here, cream chicken.
The beans are good. Yeah they are very good!
Nallely, you and your phrases. Without dessert, there is no?_____
I don't know!
Without dessert there is no? _______ dessert.
My friends I am here with this lovely person, Mrs. Koky. Her mom is Doña Lola, the restaurant is named after her.
We are here to serve you. If you come to Alamos and don't visit Doña Lola, it's like you didn't come visit Alamos.
Honestly it is very good! The lemonade, beans, tortillas, the dessert was so good! Thank you so much.
Destination number 10: Art gallery.
We are making ceramics with mud, we have to work it quickly until it takes the consistency of clay so we can shape whatever we want.
Destination number 11, last stop!: The looker.
Well my friends, this is the end of the video. If you liked it make sure to give me a thumbs up, subscribe and turn on the little bell so you can follow me in my next adventures. See you next Wednesday, by!
