Hello.
So, Maja Anushka made a video, um, about tarot and her relationship with tarot.
And I loved it, I will link it in the corner and below and everything.
But I loved that because, at least of the people that I regularly follow and keep up
with on YouTube, I haven't seen anyone really talk about tarot and kind of like, witchy
type of stuff.
And that's shit I'm into, I love that shit, so I thought I would also make a video of
my relationship with tarot.
Almost exactly a copy of Maja's video it's just my version of it, my experiences of it.
So I'm gonna kinda do it the same way she did where I just talk about how I got into
tarot and then show you my tarot cards and I'm gonna do a reading for myself.
So for me, I've always been interested in kind of like, witchy kind of stuff.
When I was in high school I kind of started to like, acknowledge what tarot was and I
kind of looked into it, but I didn't really know much about it.
It wasn't until the past year or so that I met a really good friend of mine named Alli,
who is super into witchy shit and she totally got me hooked on like, all of this stuff.
I've always just been a sucker for like magic type of stuff, so yeah I'm just like really
into it.
Tarot cards, if you don't know, they're kind of used in a multitude of different ways,
but at least how I use them personally is, kind of like a self-reflective, taking a step
back and kinda like, analyzing my problems from a different point of view, looking at
a problem objectively.
Or not even a problem, just like my day to day life, kind of seeing like, how should
I go about this situation, um, how should I, you know, deal with this relationship in
my life, etc.
I don't think personally that it's like, set in stone, it like, tells the future for sure,
this is 100%, this is what's gonna happen to you.
I just- I think it's really cool.
Every time I've had my tarot read or I've read other people's tarot, it's like, scarily
spot on.
I don't wanna go into the whole thing of like, 'oh this is bullshit, this is, ya know, it's
not scientifically proven, whatever'.
That's fine if you don't like tarot or like, believe in it or ya know, whatever.
It's just personally, I just love it.
I think it's really fun.
I don't think it's anything to be taken that seriously in that way, I just think it's a
nice self-reflective thing to do.
I have my tarot cards here that I would love to show you.
The first one that I'll put like in a picture over here, the first tarot deck that I ever
had was the classic original Rider-Waite deck.
Basically I didn't connect with it in a- in a strong way, as much as I do with my other
decks.
So I ended up gifting that actually to my grandmother, who, I read her tarot and she
was really into it so I gave her that deck.
This one is called Spirit Speak made by Mary Elizabeth Evans.
Beautiful, gorgeous gorgeous deck.
She has other tarot decks as well, she has oracle cards, she has a lot of like, witchy
shit if you're into it.
Actually, I got a tattoo based off of the strength card in this deck.
I can link to the whole post where like, I talk about um, my, ya know, why I got this
tattoo and why I love it so much and everything, but essentially it's, um, represents like,
inner strength, kind of applying that to your everyday life, so I got that on my wrist cause
I love it so much, I love this tarot deck, I love her artwork and everything.
I connect with this deck a lot.
Again, I'm into like, feelings and shit like that so if you're not I'm sorry but this is
not the thing for you I guess.
But at least for me like, I didn't connect with that Rider-Waite deck that I had originally,
but this one when I got it, like the second I got it I was like, wow you and I are like
best friends, I love this deck so much.
So the Spirit Speak deck is the main one I use but I also have a few other decks.
Welcome to Night Vale, if you don't know, is a podcast, amazing, amazing podcast, it's
a beautiful story.
Long story short, it's a radio station from a fictional town and you learn about the characters
and their stories and just like, weird, weird shit happens there.
If any story were to have a tarot deck, it should be Welcome to Night Vale, so they made
a Welcome to Night Vale tarot deck.
They commissioned someone do this, or either someone made it as a fan tarot deck and then
they made it official merchandise.
The artist of this, who, unfortunately I don't know their name, I'll figure it out and put
it on the screen, but they did such an amazing, amazing job.
Each of the cards has a character or an instance from Welcome to Night Vale.
And they do it so well and it's so crazy how Welcome to Night Vale is a podcast, you don't
see it, there's no official art of it, but you can tell who the characters are and it's
supposed to represent, and on top of that they picked it very very well where, let's
say like the three of cups, really represents the three of cups both in the show and in
the cards.
And then, my final tarot deck, I don't know if it would actually be considered a tarot
deck.
Basically when I went to Italy this summer, um, I saw this in a shop.
The title, which, please excuse my horrible Italian pronunciation, but, Le carte della
fortuna.
This one I haven't looked into as much, the instructions are written in Italian, it's
difficult for me to understand.
Quick like, history of tarot, they are based off of traditional playing cards.
Each of the tarot suits are aligned with playing card suits as well.
These are really interesting because they have the specific playing card that is associated
with that, um, tarot instance.
This one is associated with the five of clubs.
On the bottom it says, oh god I can't pronounce that, "gioia ambizione" so it's like, associated
with ambition, but then it's also associated with the five of clubs.
Um, it's interesting, I've read the instructions for it, I translated it from Italian, and
it's generally the same premise but, again I haven't looked into it as much, I want to
like fully understand it before I kind of like go into it and use them.
I'm really glad I picked them up cause it's cool to see how like, other cultures would
use tarot cards or like, um, fortune cards, etc.
So yeah, that's the other final deck that I have.
All that said, I think we should do a little reading for myself so I'm going to change
the camera angle and hopefully you'll be able to see how I do this.
So basically when I do a reading for myself, I do kind of a version of the Celtic Cross,
which is a very traditional way of reading, at least for the Rider-Waite deck.
If I have something in mind that I am like, focusing on or I wanna have some other insight
on, I will think about that as I'm shuffling these cards.
When I personally feel like it's time to stop, I stop.
You don't necessarily have to have something in mind, I think whatever is like, prevalent
in your life will come forth in whatever you're reading.
Which sounds very hippy-dippy and stuff, but again, this is my shit and that's how I do
it.
Going to just do a general reading, I'm not gonna focus on anything in particular.
I'm just going to shuffle these cards until I feel it's time to stop.
The way that I do this, I'm going to split it into four different sections.
I don't count this out, I don't make it even, splitting it wherever I feel I need to split
it.
So now we have our four sections here.
So the way that I do the readings is, no matter what order they put these down in, I pay attention
to like, which one was put down first.
So for me this was put down first, second, third, and fourth.
So I start with the first one.
The first one is going to represent the situation at hand.
The second one is going to represent the past of the situation.
The third one is going to be some general advice or like, something to keep in mind
for the situation.
And the fourth one is like a potential outcome or how the situation could unfold.
So I know that was a lot in the beginning but I'm gonna go one at a time.
Turn over the first card on the top.
So we have The World card, which is the situation at hand.
The second card which is the past of the situation, we have The Sun, which is upside down.
Some people don't do this but for me at least, I represent the cards as meaning something
different when they're upside down.
Third card is going to be some general advice or like something to keep in mind for the
situation, and that is going to be The Page of Swords upside down.
The fourth card is a potential outcome or how the situation will unfold, and that is
The Six of Swords.
I'm not going to go into all of the details of what these cards mean because then this
video will just take forever, but I'm just going to interpret this for myself and then
I'm going to tell you what that turns out to be.
Okay, so, I've just read all of these cards for myself and it's very telling of my current
situation.
Basically I just quit my job, I'm not applying to new jobs immediately yet, I'm trying to
spend this next month doing things for myself and improving like, my body, my mind, my creativity,
going like full force into those things, not really giving myself an excuse to not do those
things because now I have the time to.
Just going to give like a basic overview of how these cards read me for filth today.
Situation at hand, The World card.
Basically this means that it's completion, it's the end of a cycle.
Like, you made it to the end of a journey and, ya know, this is like your reward, you
have like, the world is whole, it's complete, in this representation there's a trophy, like
that's your trophy of completing this cycle.
Which, again, very appropriate because I just finished work and I finished that whole cycle.
So the past of the situation we have The Sun, which was upside down for me.
The Sun is very representative of happiness and positivity and light and life.
It was upside down in this which was, again, very fitting for me because the past of the
situation was I was deeply unhappy, I was so close to getting that happiness but I wasn't
really achieving it.
Now the present situation is that that cycle is complete but previously it was like, lacking
happiness, which is how I interpreted the upside down part of The Sun being there for
me.
Then for stuff to keep in mind we have Page of Swords.
Swords is a very like, communicative suit, getting your ideas and words across.
The Page is basically like a young, new, with like these new ideas and stuff like that.
And for me this was upside down so I kind of interpreted that as like, you have all
these fresh ideas and everything, but you need to be sure to like, put it outwards instead
of like keeping it towards yourself.
For the final one of like a potential outcome, this is the Six of Swords.
As you can possibly see there, um, basically that figure is walking away from all of this
like, chaos and confusion and stuff that was going on there.
She's leaving all of her swords behind, moving forward.
Kind of similar to The World in that it's like, completion of something, and you're
walking away from a dangerous situation, or like a toxic situation.
Which, I think is very suited for what we had going on here, um, basically that this
potential outcome of doing this like, creativity and this fresh new stuff, um, and walking
away from these like, dangerous habits and toxic situations and everything that, like,
ya know, you're gonna be happy, you're gonna move forward and be creative and fulfilled
and everything like that.
So yeah, that was, I mean it was a very short reading for myself, but that was a reading.
So yeah, I know that was like a very, um, haphazard way of kinda showing you how I do
a reading, but hopefully you kinda got a little bit from that.
If you were interested in more videos I could possibly go into more stuff.
Anymore kind of like, witchy shit, I love that shit, I'm totally down to do more witchy
shit, um, so just let me know.
And if you have any questions, again, I'm not a tarot expert by any means, I still have
to look up everything for it, I'm still learning myself, but if you're interested at all, um,
I can leave some like, links and resources to things that have been really cool for me.
I'll leave all that stuff below.
And yeah, hope you enjoyed this little tarot explanation.
Bye.
