11 QUOTES FROM BUDDHA THAT RESONATE & HELP ALMOST EVERYBODY WHO READ THEM

BY JOE MARTINO

The teachings of many of historys religious and philosophical figures are timeless, but

are often mistakenly taken at face value.

Its easy to slap a quote on an image or a t-shirt and pass it around, but it takes

deliberate thought to actually internalize the true meaning behind the words, and often

these quick philosophical bytes are passed over too quickly for this to happen.

Its easy for us in this day and age to be spiritual by identity and pass it

off well without ever truly living spiritually without recognizing and benefitting from

what we can learn from having a spiritual relationship with ourselves and this world.

Because of that, its common to come across a great deal of logical spiritualists and

fake new-agey type personalities that dont truly live the core of what these

great teachers have shared.

So I wanted to share my own perspective on the true meaning behind some of these quotes.

Health is the greatest gift, contentment the greatest wealth, faithfulness the best

relationship.

To be in good health allows us to experience this world to its fullest, the way the body,

mind, and soul were meant to experience it.

Its common to view wealth in a monetary sense, but having a state of peace within

oneself is a much more powerful and useful tool than simple material wealth.

Trusting in oneself and ones path is an important part of our relationship with the

self.

Every human being is the author of his own health or disease.

We create our own outcomes with many things.

There are many interesting strands of research these days showing us how certain long-term

emotions and traumas can have a huge impact on disease.

Obviously this may not apply to the health of a newborn, but this wisdom is intended,

it seems to me, to remind us to look at our long-term thoughts and actions in our lives

and consider how they may be affecting our physical well-being.

Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the

present moment.

The moment is all we have.

We can learn from our past and project goals onto our future moment, but to spend

all our time in either is to miss out on whats happening in front of us.

This refers to the times we walk through the park thinking about whats coming next or

what happened before, without seeing or really experiencing the amazing beauty and nature

around us in that moment.

No one saves us but ourselves.

No one can and no one may.

We ourselves must walk the path.

You can try to help someone else and you can wait forever for someone to come save you,

but until a person decides to make a change themselves and commits to it, theres little

that can be done.

Change must be desired before it can be effected.

Throw both feet in and go for it.

Otherwise youre always going to spin your tires.

In the sky, there is no distinction of east and west; people create distinctions

out of their own minds and then believe them to be true.

Everyone has their own perception of a situation or what might have been said.

This does not mean that perception is universally true; rather, it is simply true for them in

their current state.

Dont take other peoples perceptions of certain situations as ultimate truth, and

in the same way, dont take to heart what they think or believe about you.

With yourself, understand that you too have your own perceptions, and allow yourself to

be open to what others think and feel just as you would hope others would do for you.

Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.

Like many things which continue to reveal themselves in our world, the truth cannot

be hidden forever.

It will eventually come out.

This is one of the most exciting parts about what I do here with CE.

It is easy to see the faults of others, but difficult to see ones own faults.

One shows the faults of others like chaff winnowed in the wind, but one conceals ones

own faults as a cunning gambler conceals his dice.

Be humble and be open to seeing your own faults in the same way you are open to seeing them

in others.

It takes true strength, honesty, and love to be open to your own flaws and to tackle

the challenge of moving beyond them.

To keep the body in good health is a duty otherwise we shall not be able to keep our

mind strong and clear.

Our health is so crucial to living well, and contributes to everything we do in this experience

we call life.

Its interesting to view the sheer disconnect in our society between our emotions, spirituality,

and overall health.

The more disconnected we are, the more unhealthy we are.

The greater connection we gain to ourselves and our health, the more in balance all other

areas of our lives become.

We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think.

When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.

What you think has a big impact on your overall state of being.

This has been proven time and time again and I believe is becoming a pretty mainstream

idea these days.

Work out your own salvation.

Do not depend on others.

Take control of your own life, destiny, and growth.

Dont wait for others or seek their approval; recognize that your life is in your own hands.

We have a tendency to put things off all the time, hoping it may magically come or that

one day we will get to it.

Only you can make it happen.

Get moving.

Official Book Trailer - From Anxiety to Love by Corinne Zupko - Duration: 2:05.

My first anxiety disorder diagnosis came at the age of two.

By age 12 I had an ulcer from worry.

And by college, I started having uncontrollable out-of-the-blue panic attacks.

I'd fixate on physical symptoms, totally convinced that I was dying of the latest disease.

Anxiety was like a leech, sucking any semblance of inner peace out of me.

My convincing smile covered up a lot of pain.

I became determined to find my way out of inner hell.

I knew the answer had to come from deep within me.

I went on a quest for relief.

In my search to find peace, I learned that we have two voices in our mind - the voice

of fear, and the Voice of Love.

The voice of fear maintains fear.

It tells us that we're alone, vulnerable and separate from everything.

The Voice for Love leads us out of fear and into peace.

It helps us remember our true identity, which is eternal Love.

Anxiety simply falls away as you begin to remember your True Self.

This book describes the process I used to work myself out of terror and into an anxiety-free life.

I'm now doing things I never thought I would be capable of.

My smile now reflects the peace I feel inside.

Miracles happen through learning how to see differently, they are changes of mind that

restore our awareness of who we really are.

The Light in you is too bright to fail.

If I can experience such radical changes in my life, so can you.

Democrat Accused of Masturbating in Front of Lobbyist Resigns, D - Duration: 1:48.

Democrat Accused of Masturbating in Front of Lobbyist Resigns, Denies Allegations

Democrat California Assemblyman Matt Dababneh (D-Woodland Hills), 36, announced his resignation

on Friday, just days after he was accused of masturbating in front of a lobbyist at

a party in Las Vegas.

Dababneh, who represents the 45th Assembly District, which located in the western San

Fernando Valley, will official leave office on January 1, according to the East Bay Times.

To be absolutely clear, the allegations against me are not true, Dababneh reportedly

wrote in a letter to Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon.

However, due to the current environment, I, unfortunately, do not believe I can serve

my district effectively.

California lobbyist Pamela Lopez said Dababneh allegedly followed her into a restroom and

masturbated in front of her at a friends wedding party is Las Vegas in January 2016.

Haircuts You'll Be Asking For In 2018 - Duration: 6:08.

2017 was the year of unicorn hair, lazy lobs, all-braids-everywhere, and celeb-fueled pixies.

But those looks are already old news.

So, what hues, textures, and lengths will be getting all the likes?

These are the hottest haircuts for 2018.

Shoulder length

Celebrity colorist, Michael Canalé, thinks that the damaged hair of 2017 needs a rest

— and women will be going shorter in order to get rid of those frazzled follicles.

He says,

"Due to [… ]ombre and balayage, hair is brittle and damaged…"

"You'll start to see a lot of chin and shoulder-length styles."

But if you're not quite ready to chop it off, Canalé suggests rehabbing your tresses by

taking your vitamins, and adding length with extensions.

Natural color

A more natural look is in the forecast for 2018, according to Canalé, who says,

"As we move away from aggressive hair colors, you will see more natural blending, using

paper-thin highlights to create a gradual blonde, instead of sun-drenched blonde."

Undercurrent

Steve Lococo, master stylist and co-owner of B2V Salon, says multi-dimensional coloring

is in, offering,

"Infuse [your] blonde with some copper, blush pink, or soft mint.

We call these tones 'undercurrents.'

They help move the overall haircut and hair color."

Shaggy bob

Celebrity stylist Brandon Martinez predicts the pixie of 2017 will be transformed into

a longer, shaggier version for spring 2018.

Vanessa Quiles and Gabby Fishman of Takamichi Hair also predict a nod to the '70s vibe with

shaggy cuts featuring cheek-sweeping fringe.

Ombre roots

Martinez foresees the once-popular high-contrast root trend — which was rocked by everyone

from Rihanna to Kylie Jenner — going lowkey, and giving way to what he calls,

"A more natural ombre look, as roots are making a comeback."

French girl chic

Fred Connors, owner of FRED NYC, says that in 2018 beach waves will peace out, and the

French girl look will be in.

He dishes,

"The biggest trend in the salon and on the street is 'French Girl Chic.'

Clients are moving away from beachy blonde lobs and opting for darker-hued, edgier cuts."

Grab a baguette, and the French girl 'tude, and you'll be Paris-chic wherever you are.

"You have to pretend that you would be happier somewhere else, reading a book.

Which, you don't have to read."

"I can't read."

Bowl cuts

Strong, structured looks are about to blow up your Insta feed.

Shaun SureThing, co-owner and lead stylist at NYC's Seagull, dishes it up, saying,

"2018 will be the year of cutting it all off.

Bowl haircuts and strong geometry will dominate."

But this is no low-maintenance trend.

Quiles and Fishman say these "modern, geometric haircuts wear like wigs," which means 100

percent commitment to getting touch-ups on the regular.

Mullets and shags

Gender fluidity will be heavily influencing hairstyles of 2018.

SureThing suggests,

"Styles venturing into mullet territory will be hot for the androgynous set…

Think soldiers coming home to the 'Summer of Love' and deconstructed mod looks from

swinging London."

Pastels

The pastels of 2017 will only gain momentum in 2018, according to Global Redken Artist

Lindsey Olson.

And it won't just be for blondes and millenials, either.

Olson's watching for pinks and blues in the coming year, saying,

"[Pastel] looks just as gorgeous when done subtly on a brunette...What's best is that

we'll be seeing it on people of all ages!"

Unfussy and textured

Based on the looks that graced the runways, unfussy and textured hair, both long and mid-length,

will be a 2018 total "go to."

Patty Mocarski, of Little Space Salon, and one of Allure's hair pros, says,

"Overall, there will be a lot of plays on texture, no matter the length or color.

Slicked back, tousled, or loose will definitely be a go-to in 2018."

Lococo agreed, saying,

"Mid-length locks will be the hit this year — right below the shoulder, with long, choppy

texturizing.

This will allow the most styling versatility."

Jodi Dery, owner of Cloud 10 Blow Dry Bar, echoed the mid-length prediction, saying,

"We are seeing women embrace their natural texture and hair versus trying to change it."

Dramatic bangs

In 2018, bangs will be all about the drama and length.

Lococo says,

"Long, soft bangs, where they're past the stage of growing out by the cheekbone, will

make a real statement in 2018."

Lococo suggests parting longer bangs down the middle for the trending "curtain bangs"

look, allowing you to change up your look daily (minus the scissors).

The pageboy

Daring, short cuts will be back for those who are willing to show off their features.

Mocarski says,

"If the ladies are willing, [there will be] a real return to sturdy pageboy haircuts.

Calling all gamines front and center."

Tapered Afro

This trend is about to become more prominent for ladies with natural texture.

De L'isle of Happy Curls, Happy Girls, says that 2018 will be all about,

"The TWA/Tapered Afro for those with kinky, curly tresses, [which] allows you to enjoy

all the volume and glory of curly hair without too much of the hassle."

And the look will never get boring, since De L'isle says, you can go with,

"...an undercut with graphic design, lots of length on top or a shorter finish, marked

edges, or a natural finish…

They definitely add a touch of fun and personality to your everyday look."

The Vidal Sassoon bob

Celebrity hairstylist Keka Heron is calling it; the classic Vidal Sassoon bob is coming

back.

She says,

"The clean, blunt bob.

It's a chic haircut that looks great on all hair textures, face shapes, and ages."

The VS bob may be short and structured, but its endless styling variations keep it fresh

after all these years.

Long layers

Never chopping off your long tresses?

Face-framing layers will prevent long hair from falling flat in 2018.

Heron says,

"Women are going to be asking for longer layers for 2018.

The shortest layer starts at your chin.

The layers will allow for great fullness and texture to long hair."

Looks like Jennifer Aniston gets a new top spot with her signature look!

The Most Terrible Movies Of 2017 - Duration: 7:58.

2017 was filled with cinematic wins, from horror hits like Get Out and It to the continued

superhero domination of Logan, Wonder Woman and Thor: Ragnarok to indie favorites like

Baby Driver and The Big Sick.

But not every movie that made way to the silver screen this year has seen such success.

Here are just some of the biggest stinkers Hollywood produced in 2017.

The Book of Henry

After the positive critical reception of Safety Not Guaranteed and the financial success of

Jurassic World, director Colin Trevorrow made a serious misstep with The Book of Henry.

Sure, his third feature has a fantastic poster, but the film itself was widely dissed and

dismissed.

The pic stars It's Jaeden Lieberher as the title character, an insanely intelligent 11-year-old

who spends his days inventing Rube Goldberg machines, investing in the stock market, and

taking care of his adorable brother.

Henry is so smart as to be obnoxious—constantly correcting every adult around him, from doctors

to school principals.

"Hank."

It's actually Henry.

I'd think you'd be able to retain one single name somewhere beyond that haircut."

This prompted critics to pan the would-be hero as smug and unlikable, even as he tries

to rescue his neighbor from being abused by her police commissioner stepdad by way of

an elaborate assassination plot.

Once his own life reaches the point of peril, it's hard to care about him anymore.

Wish Upon

When Wish Upon hit theaters in July, it faced some steep box office competition from War

for the Planet of the Apes, but that was the least of this film's problems.

Instead, it was the movie's ridiculous plotline that sunk any interest in the film.

It followed a high school outcast named Clare who comes into possession of a mysterious

box that's been possessed by a demon who'll grant her wishes but takes a life in return

for her heart's desires.

While the obvious way to beat this box is to simply stop wishing, Clare just can't get

enough, and keeps wishing for things that are hardly worth the cost.

Critics hated the derivative plot and its superficial centerpiece, and the film barely

recouped its modest budget.

The House

You can hire all the comedians you want, but if you don't have a solid script, then your

movie won't get any laughs.

That was the problem with The House, the latest from Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O'Brien

of Neighbors and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates fame.

Although The House boasts the talents of Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler, instead of giving

them a strong screenplay to work with …

"Which we were kinda counting on…"

It leans almost exclusively on their improv skills.

The so-called "comedy" revolves around a pair of parents who open a casino in their friend's

house to raise tuition money for their daughter, but things get wildly out of control.

Soon, the two become suburbanite mobsters, using drugs and chopping off fingers.

While it seems like this wacky premise could lead to some good gags, most of the jokes

failed to land with critics or those few audience members who bothered to watch.

A Family Man

Gerard Butler has not had a good year, thanks in part to this movie.

The plot for A Family Man follows his ruthless businessman character who ignores his poor

children as he tries to win the favor of his out-going employer and outmaneuver his office

rival to become the new boss, all while drinking a lot of Red Bull.

Of course, things get complicated when his kid is diagnosed with leukemia, forcing our

hero to choose between his son and his job.

All in all, A Family Man is a predictable story that tries to jerk a few tears as Gerard

Butler becomes a good dad, but critics found it hard to relate to or root for his character.

The Emoji Movie

You might think a movie featuring Patrick Stewart as a walking, talking piece of poop

would at least be worth watching as a gag, but The Emoji Movie is such a soulless slog

it deprives you of even that simple pleasure.

It's a movie that's supposedly about being true to yourself, but really, it's just a

big commercial for Spotify and Candy Crush.

A lot of people scoffed at the idea of this movie when it was first announced, and rightfully

so.

The film was obliterated by critics, even though it still turned a profit at the box

office.

The Last Face

There's no denying Sean Penn is a talented filmmaker, but even the very best directors

come up with a bomb now and then.

Unfortunately, The Last Face is so bad that when it played at Cannes, the audience started

heckling the movie pretty much as soon as it started rolling.

The Last Face takes place in countries like Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Sudan, but for

a film set in Africa, it's kind of weird that all the black people are relegated to playing

background roles or mutilated corpses.

Instead, the movie centers on beautiful white people falling in love, which did not play

well to its audiences at the festival or earn wide release as a result.

The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature

The Nut Job wasn't exactly what you'd call a masterpiece, but it made enough money to

prompt a sequel.

Nutty by Nature follows its woodland stars after they're forced to return to the wild,

at which point our furry friends—led by Surly —move into the local city park.

Unfortunately, the mayor plans on chopping down the trees and turning the area into a

theme park—and he hires a group of exterminators to deal with the rodents, forcing the critters

to fight back.

Critics panned the pic for being boring and unimaginative, and it earned less than half

the revenue of its predecessor due to audience disinterest.

The Dark Tower

Hollywood has tried to adapt Stephen King's Dark Tower series for years—and now, after

years of waiting, fans of the novels can finally see Roland shoot with his mind on the big

screen.

Unfortunately, the movie was absolutely awful and failed to capture any of the magic that

made the books so beloved.

The Dark Tower stars Idris Elba as a gunslinger dedicated to protecting the titular tower

and defending 11-year-old Jake from the Man in Black.

Dark Tower should've been a slam dunk, but instead of being as original and exhilarating

as the books, the movie was derided as generic action fare, which is everything King's version

was not.

Flatliners

When the original Flatliners hit theaters back in 1990, it made a pretty penny at the

box office, but still failed to impress many critics.

Compared to this year's pseudo-sequel, though, the original feels like an absolute masterpiece

of horror.

The film follows a group of med students experimenting with life after life.

Their tests involve taking some heavy duty drugs, stopping their hearts for a minute

or two, and checking out the other side before being resuscitated.

Naturally, messing around with the afterlife has serious consequences, but when our heroes

start experiencing some "spooky" visions, the film devolves into Jump Scare: The Movie.

Critics called out the film's lack of suspense, foolish characters, and lacking visuals, leading

many to wish the property would've just stayed dead.

Geostorm

When the trailer for Geostorm first hit, everybody knew we were in for something brainless, but

audiences had their fingers crossed for some campy fun.

Unfortunately, the film had almost no redeeming qualities and got laughed out of the theaters.

The film followed a man trying to save a series of satellites that protect the world from

apocalyptic weather events after somebody sabotages the system.

With catastrophes breaking out across the globe, there's a lot of visual flair in play,

but those action scenes are few and far between, interrupted by long segments of boring, flat

characters staring at a bunch of screens.

The Snowman

On paper, The Snowman should've been awesome.

It stars several formidable thespians and was directed by Tomas Alfredson, director

of Let the Right One In and Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

But despite all that talent, this film is a bloody mess.

Based on the novel by Jo Nesbø, The Snowman follows an alcoholic detective who chases

a psycho with a thing for building snowmen.

Unfortunately, the thrills are undone by a slew of messy subplots, over-the-top music,

subpar performances, and a bunch of supposedly freaky Frostys that really aren't that frightening.

It also didn't help that The Snowman had one of the worst—and most meme-worthy—marketing

campaigns in recent Hollywood history.

"You could've saved them.

I gave you all the clues."

Instead of being scary, the movie ended up arriving as one of the year's most unintentionally

funny movies … but only after being ... plowed by critics.

Get it?

Jeez.. that's as bad as the movie..

Thanks for watching.

Religion vs Spirituality – What is the difference - Duration: 6:11.

Religion vs. Spirituality What is the difference

by Edward Morgan

It has become quite popular in recent years to distinguish between spirituality and religion.

Its true that there are valid distinctions between the two, but there are also a number

of problematic distinctions which often and unnecessarily divide the two fields of thought.

One principal problem with attempts to separate religion from spirituality is that the former

is saddled with everything negative while the latter is exalted with everything positive.

It is important to note the fact that many of the negative things which people attribute

to religions are features of some forms of some religions (usually Judaism, Christianity,

and Islam), but not of other religions (like Taoism or Buddhism).

Religion is spiritual and spirituality can also be considered religious.

One tends to be more personal and private while the other tends to incorporate public

rituals and organized doctrines.

The lines between one and the other may often not be clear or distinct depending on the

interpretation.

Consider these definitions:

Religion is an institution established by man for various reasons.

Exert control, instill morality, stroke egos, or whatever it does.

Organized, structured religions all but remove god from the equation.

You confess your sins to a clergy member, go to elaborate churches to worship, told

what to pray and when to pray it.

All those factors remove you from god.

Spirituality is born in a person and develops in the person.

It may be kick started by a religion, or it may be kick started by a revelation.

Spirituality extends to all facets of a persons life.Spirituality is chosen while religion

is often times forced.

Being spiritual to me is more important and better than being religious.

True spirituality is something that is found deep within oneself.

It is your way of loving, accepting and relating to the world and people around you.

It cannot be found in a church or by believing in a certain way.

Consider the following in favor of the spiritual path:

There is not one religion, but hundreds There is only one type of spirituality

Religion is for those who want to continue rituals and the formality

Spirituality is for those who want to reach the Spiritual Ascent without dogmas

Religion is for those who are asleep Spirituality is for those who are awake

Religion is for those that require guidance from others

Spirituality is for those that lend ears to their inner voice

Religion has a dogmatic and unquestionable assembly of rules that need to be followed

without question Spirituality invites you to reason it all,

to question it all and to decide your actions and assume the consequences

Religion threatens and terrifies Spirituality gives you inner peace

Religion speaks of sin and of fault Spirituality encourages living in the present

and not to feel remorse for which has already passed Lift your spirit and learn from

errors Religion represses humanity, and returns us

to a false paradigm Spirituality transcends it all and makes you

true to yourself Religion is instilled from childhood, like

the soup you do not you want to take Spirituality is the food that you you seek,

that satisfies you and is pleasant to the senses

Religion is not God Spirituality is infinite consciousness and

all that is It is God Religion invents

Spirituality discovers Religion does not investigate and does not

question Spirituality questions everything

Religion is based on humanity, an organization with rules

Spirituality is DIVINE, WITHOUT rules Religion is cause for division

Spirituality is cause for union Religion seeks you so that you create

Spirituality causes you to seek Religion continues the teachings of a sacred

book Spirituality seeks the sacredness in all the

books Religion is fed fear

Spirituality is fed confidence Religion lives you in your thoughts

Spirituality lives in your conscience Religion is in charge of the to do

Spirituality is in charge of the to BE Religion is a dialectic

Spirituality is logic Religion feeds the ego

Spirituality makes you transcend Religion makes you renounce yourself to the

world Spirituality makes you live with God, not

to renounce him Religion is adoration
