Waching daily Dec 18 2017

Hey guys!

It's Mi-Anne, and this is Beauty With Mi.

Today I have three metallic liquid lipsticks that I am putting to the test.

I think they'd be perfect for any parties you're going to, perfect for the winter season

amazing for New Years.

So we have three different brands that we're trying out today.

The first of which is from Covergirl.

These are the Melting Pout Metallic Liquid Lipsticks.

Next up we have these ones from Lottie London.

They're called the Slay All Day Liquid Lipsticks in the metallic formulation.

And finally we have these babies from Smashbox.

I'm going to put all three of these lipsticks through the 12 hour wear test to see how

they hold up and you're coming with me.

But first, are you subscribed?

If you're not, click down here.

A little subscribe button so you can hangout with me every single Monday.

So I'm actually going to try on all three of these lipsticks right now.

Just so we can see how they apply.

The first impressions, the formula.

And then I'm going to wear them for three consecutive days and that's where we'll

see how long they wear.

So first up, rockstar Covergirl.

I actually love the combination of red lips and blue shadows.

So this look is very me.

Fuzzy slanted applicator.

You push the product out like this.

It looks like these are going to be nice because you can kind of sheer them out if you want

to wear them as a stain instead of just a full on metallic liquid lip.

It's actually really easy to apply because the formula itself is very creamy.

So it glides on really easily.

It feels really good.

It actually feels like balm.

It doesn't have any explicit long wear claims but it is a liquid lipstick so in theory it

should last a long time.

I'm definitely giving metallic vibes here.

It definitely comes off on your hands if you were to kiss someone or drink out of a coffee cup.

It's not completely transfer proof.

I'm into it right now especially because my lips are very dry.

But, I have a few other colors here.

We're going to swatch them all for you.

And you can see which one you like the best.

Next up we have these lovely lipsticks from Smashbox.

Now these lipsticks are supposed to last for eight hours so we will see.

I'm going to wear them for 12 so we'll see if we can stretch it a little bit.

Right off the bat, I'm into this applicator.

It has a nice tapered tip.

It comes to a point.

I think that that's going to be really great for getting along my lip line.

It has a little bit of a reservoir tip as well, like right here where you can see there's

a little bit of a hole, a little divot.

And there's product catching in there.

I think that'll be nice for applying a nice smooth, opaque layer.

I love the color.

I definitely see this metallicness but I think it's a little less metallic in finish then

the Covergirl one that I just tried.

I think in part because this one does dry down matte whereas the Covergirl one has more

of a satin finish.

I wonder if it's going to start to dry out my lips after a few hours of wear.

Let's do a little test to see if it's completely dry.

Nothing.

I love that a lot of brands are coming out with metallic lipsticks that are in beautiful

and really wearable colors.

Last but not least, we have these fellas from Lottie London.

The Slay All Day Liquid Lipsticks.

They're supposed to be very long wearing.

They are called Slay All Day.

I have this shade.

It's called "Boy Bye."

Oh, that's very metallic.

And then I have another shade called "Shook."

Am I gonna be shook by Shook?

Get '90s vibes from this.

So I think I'm going to go with Boy Bye, which is this plum shade just to keep it all

in the same color family in terms of all the lipsticks that I'm wearing today.

Very pigmented in one swipe.

So right off the bat, this one feels drier than the other two.

But nothing too crazy right now.

I wonder if four hours down the road if it will start to crust.

But it does feel really good.

Out of all three, I think think this one is the most metallic.

Let's see if it will come off my fingers.

Nothing.

Nada.

I'm curious to see how this one wears.

I'm wondering if it's going to get drying.

Hopefully it won't.

But so far I like it.

I think it's really pigmented.

I think it was easy to apply.

So I guess only time will tell.

Let's move on the 12 hour test.

Hey guys!

I am wearing the Covergirl metallic lipstick today.

And it is around 9AM, about to head off to work and wear this for a full 12 hours.

So far so good.

The lipstick is looking great.

I just put it on so of course it is.

It feels really good.

I was so excited to have this lipstick on today because it has a slick, emollient, balm-like

quality even though it does have this beautiful metallic finish.

So therefore it's a little bit hydrating on my extremely chapped lips.

So that's a plus.

It is around 1:00PM.

I just had a little bit of lunch.

It's wearing a little bit in the center but nothing too crazy.

And I have something really fun and

very seasonal to do.

I have a gingerbread house!

I just ate my gingerbread house.

It's dying a slow, slow death.

I had some gum drops and some ginger bread and lipstick is holding up.

Still feels really good.

Still feels balm-like.

I can go like this.

And I can feel it sliding on my lips which is actually really nice.

I think it's fading a little bit in terms of the color.

It definitely doesn't have as much of a metallic finish anymore.

It's leaving a nice stain on my lips that I like.

I'll check in with you guys at 5 o'clock and we'll see how this fella is doing.

Bye!

It's around 5:00PM.

I've been wearing this lipstick for quite some time now.

At this point it has faded a lot.

It's feathering a little bit which is as expected because I had a really big burrito

for lunch and I ate quite a bit of it so it's kind of coming off.

I really like it because it feels like lip balm.

It kind of stains the lips so I actually don't feel like I need to reapply it.

But for the sake of this video I will.

It's around 9:00PM.

I've been wearing my lipstick for 12 hours and I've got to say I'm very impressed

with how evenly and how pigmented the stain is.

In terms of the metallicness, it's definitely gone now if you look at it.

It's definitely more of a stain.

It's really only got that metallic sheen once it's freshly applied.

And for a couple of hours after that until it starts to wear off.

But overall I really enjoyed it.

I t definitely doesn't have the longevity of a true matte liquid lipstick.

But that being said, I really enjoyed it especially because it's super cold and dry outside.

It was so nice to have a pigmented lipstick that wears and feels like lip balm.

That's my two cents on this one.

I've got a few more lipsticks to try so stay tuned.

Hey guys!

It's 9:00AM.

I got to work a little bit early today because I have a lot of stuff to do but I'm wearing

metallic lipstick of course.

This is the Smashbox one.

It doesn't feel drying yet.

I'm excited to see how it wears.

It's 1:00PM.

I'm here with Michaela.

Hello.

So I've had a lot of tea.

I've had some snacks.

And it looks pretty much the same.

What do you think?

It's cool.

It's kind of a metallic, sparkly finish which I really like.

Good for holidays.

That's exactly why I'm doing it!

Yeah.

I didn't tell her anything about the video so.

I had no context I swear.

It's wearing well.

I'm going to eat lunch in just a bit.

And at my 5:00PM check-in I will let you know how it stands up against food.

It's 5:00PM.

I just had lunch because I was just so stuck into work that I forgot to eat.

So I ate a very oily salad and I don't eat salads gracefully.

And the lipstick has come off.

We'll see how it lasts until 9:00PM and I'll check in for the final update.

I've been wearing this lipstick for 12 hours.

Looks pretty good.

Still has the metallic finish.

I did reapply at like 5:00-ish.

But it wore pretty well until I started to eat that really oily salad.

But I'm going to do a little mistletoe test.

She just wants the mistletoe.

I just kissed my kitty a bunch and now I'm going to kiss Collin with some mistletoe.

Nothing, see.

Nothing on the face.

Well that's me signing off.

Say bye, Collin.

Bye.

It's the final day of my lipstick challenge.

I'm wearing the Lottie London metallic lipstick today.

And I've got to say it feels really comfortable.

I just put it on though so we'll see if it gets crusty or dry throughout the day.

But so far so good.

I actually have some exciting things planned today.

I'm going to be hosting the second installment of our Harry Potter Re-read Club.

So we'll see how this lipstick wears through that and more.

It's 1:00PM.

I just had lunch.

I had a giant bagel and the lipstick is still pretty even around the outside of my mouth

but definitely wearing in the center.

And I don't know about you guys but I don't eat bagels in very dainty, gentle ways.

I kind of just go at it.

So I think considering, it held up pretty well but I definitely want to reapply and

see how the lipstick layers on top of itself.

So I'm going to do that right now.

It's starting to feel just a touch dry but nothing too uncomfortable yet.

It's a little bit before 5 o'clock and I'm going to be heading out for the day soon.

I haven't eaten anything since around 1, when I had my lunch.

So the lipstick has stayed on really well.

I think that if you're not going to be eating anything really greasy like a salad or the

bagel or pizza, it'll actually stay on really well.

Like look at this.

It did get a little bit crusty, like the product was peeling a little bit towards the center

between my lips.

So I just took a tissue and blotted it away and then it ended up being fine.

So that's one thing to note, it was a little but uncomfortable.

But all in all, it has worn well.

So Harry Potter Re-read Club and I've been eating some of these cookies that my friend

Carly made.

What do you guys think?

Good.

Looks really good.

Nice.

Thank you!

I'll give you guys a closer look.

It looks good, it's not feathering.

It doesn't feel drying.

So far so good.

I will check in with you guys later today and let you know what I think. Bye!

So Harry Potter Re-read Club has sadly come to a close.

It's like 11:00ish and this is the state of the lipstick now after having had pumpkin

pie and more apple cider and the works.

So it's on but definitely a stain.

It's pretty much completely off.

But I've got to say, I'm pretty impressed with the way it wore.

The liquid lipsticks tend to wear very patchy on me and end up getting really dry to the

point where I have to use a wipe to take them off.

But this one actually wore relatively evenly.

I mean obviously you can see little bits of it.

It's definitely not a lipstick to wear if you want it to last through something like

ramen or pizza.

It's not going to do it.

But I liked it.

It was very comfortable honestly.

And it was very easy to layer on top of itself.

So definitely it's not the longest wearing, but it's still a good one.

And there you have it.

Those are all three of the lipsticks put through the ringer.

Let me know which one you liked the most.

Which one was your favorite color.

Have you tried them before?

Cast your votes in the comments section down below and I will catch you guys next week.

YouTube Demonetization and How We 'Fixed' It [CASE STUDY] - Duration: 7:00.

YouTube Demonization, it would never affect us here at vidiq, afterall we're here to help

YouTubers right?

Hello everyone, welcome back to vidIQ, my name is Rob.

If this is your first time we are the YouTube tool and service that aims to help you get

more views in less time.

Out tool is free to download, a link is in the description and while you're at it subscribe

to the channel and click on the notification bell so you don't miss any of our content.

YouTube demonitization, the scourge of all video creators right now.

You spend hours crafting your masterpiece only to discover that the moment you upload

it to YouTube from out nowhere you're socked by that dreaded icon.

Do it.

Go on, I dare you.

Do it.

The most common flag video creators are being hit with is this 'Not suitable for most advertisers'

warning

It leaves you in adsense limbo, not really knowing whether your video will get ads or

not.

You can appeal the flag but you either need to have 10,000 subscribers or the video needs

at least 1,000 views over seven days.

The appeal process is a manual review, that can take days, and as well all know, most

video traffic comes in the first 48 hours.

We've already shared one video creator's story on how it affected his channel and the horror

community at large and now we have our own weird story to share.

Now just before we start, we don't monetize our content here at vidIQ, however we did

need to put our channel through the monetization process in order share external links on our

videos.

Ok here's what happened.

This is the content in question, a video about how YouTube are killing off their featured

content tool.

Now if I click into the video and check the monetization tab with have a green icon but

as I said earlier we're not monetizing the content.

However, when I first uploaded this video and before I had written the title, description

and tags it received a not suitable for advertisers warnings, so as a test I uploading it again

to see what would happen.

Lo and behold it got hit with the same warning and at that point you're thinking this video

is going to need a manual review if we wanted to monetize it.

But we already have proof below that exactly the same video is perfectly acceptable for

monetization, so what happened?

First of all let's check what the monetization tab tells us.

It does indeed say it has limited or no ads and that I would have to request a manual

review.

Why did this happen?

Well so far all we've done is upload the video and thumbnail.

Is it the filename, the current video title or the thumbnail that has a gravestone on

it?

Who knows, but let's start tinkering with the video info.

First of all I pasted in my Title, tags and description from the video which is now available

for monetization.

That didn't seem to fix the warning so I decided to systematically go through the other stuff

starting with endscreen cards and to my utter astonishment adding endscreens seemed to fix

the issue.

Whoa, whoa.

Hold on, you're trying to tell me you can fix demonetization with endscreen cards?

That can't right

No, that's not right, but it did send me down a demonetization rabbit hole that made me

a little crazy.

The next test was to add the endscreen cards first and this time it made absolutely no

difference, the video still has a warning against it.

I wanted to turn my attention back to the video info so again I changed title, description

and tags and as before it didn't seem to make any difference but I decided to leave it for

about a minute and then refresh the video manager page.

Ok so now the video is available for monetization.

it must be something to do with the video info.

Next test.

upload the video without the thumbnail, let's make sure YouTube isn't somehow detecting

that gravestone as ad unfriendly.

Alright, it's still add unfriendly, by process of elimination we are getting there.

What we're going to try this time is to simply remove the word dead from the title, nothing

more.

No description update or video tags added.

Save the changes, wait a minute, refresh the video manager page and... boom.

So surely that wasn't the fastest one minute Youtube manual review, there must be some

automated ad-revue system checking Youtube videos.

Let's test it out.

The obvious thing to try was to reverse what we just did, stick dead back in the title.

I refreshed the video manager page several times over five minute but no warning returned.

So I uploaded the video again with different titles.

Dead Dead, dead, dead

I'm not dead I even tried adding an exclamtion mark at

the end, nothing worked.

But change the title to deceased which means exactly the same thing and yep no problem

that's clean.

Confused?

Well I'm afraid it's about to get worse.

As some of you many know I have another YouTube channel called the Video Gadgets Journal where

I do run monetized content so I decided to upload exactly the same video with the same

title there and what do you it's fine with no ad warning.

Another thing that you're supposed to be able to do is to filter you videos by those with

ad warnings.

However, when I do this on the vidIQ channel, my supposedly ad unfriendly video disappears

from the list.

But at the same time if I click on all the relevant links I can request a manual review

if I want to.

We could go around in a million circles and not get any closer to the answer so from our

experience what are the questions?

Is this video actually ad unfriendly or is there some weird bug in YouTube that's making

us chase a red herring?

Does Youtube demonitize content based on nothing more than a single sensitive word in a title?

Does YouTube's ad-system automatically check videos when you change the title, tags and

description?

Does YouTube treat channels different depending on how much advertising data an experience

a channel has?

Once a video has been deemed advertiser friendly, can you manipulate it to make it ad unfriendly

again?

And finally which YouTube AI robot is in charge over there, this guy?

Bite my shiny metal a...

So plenty of questions to discuss in the comments below and if you have a demonitization story

you want to share we'd love to hear from you.

I guess the one thing we can take from all of this is that if you do get that icon, it

might not be the end of the world, it may just require a simple tweak in your video

data.

But of course I appreciate that a lot of you this demonetization issue is a lot harder

to resolve.

Now I'll leave you with one final ironic thought, if any vidIQ video should be demonetized it's

this one.

We've got comic violence, use of weapons, coarse language and some criticism of the

YouTube platform.

Make sure to check the Pinned comment and I'll let you know if it is deemed ad unfriendly.

But I suspect we'll be absolutely fine

That's it this video, I hope you enjoyed watching this video as much as I enjoyed making it.

Enjoy the rest of your video making day.

Bye for now.

We haven't seen this either.

Skineri: "You cannot kill me, I am Immortal!" Me: "Or at least you think you are."

Also I have my headset on only one of my ears, so I cannot deduce their positions based on sound, unfortunately.

A cutscene should be played here, but it doesn't. xD

The cutscene would have included an army of Kleers going through this corridor with a fade to black.

And if you wait long enough, the cutscene will end and you will be able to kill them.

Weekly Entertainment Wrap Up #50 [CC] - Duration: 6:14.

I miss the sun.

Hi, YouTube, it's Kathy. Happy Bookmas. This is my Weekly Entertainment Wrap Up for

December 10th through 16th.

This week I read 5 books, I watched 2 shows, I listened to 2 podcasts, and I listened to 1 book.

First this week, I finished There's Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins.

This seemed like the perfect book to bring with me when I would be sleeping in a room

with complete strangers all weekend at PodCon. This is a gory, horror book that takes place

in a small town. Out of nowhere, students are being killed off,

and the protagonist thinks that it might have something to do with her secret past.

There's sex, love, death, mayhem, and lots of blood, so considering my first email address

included the words horror flick chick, this was right up my alley. One criticism I've

heard and agree with is that you learn who the killer is way too early in the book, but

I really enjoyed the way the point of view changed to characters that could possibly

be the next victim.

Next I finished Library Mascot Cage Match by Bill Barnes and Gene Ambaum.

One of my coworkers has a routine of putting up a few strips from this in the elevator

at one of the branches I work at, and they always crack me up, so I decided it was time

to read an entire book of them. This comic takes place in a public library, following

clerks of various work ethics, fallible patrons, and a page who is somehow also the

mascot - which makes me really happy that I've never had to wear a character costume while putting

books away. If you have ever spent more than 5 minutes in a library, this comic is relatable.

Next this week, I read Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris.

This starts off the books I am reading for the Holiday Adventure-a-thon, which is one

of three readathons I am doing in two weeks.

This collection of short stories - some fiction, and some autobiographical - centre around

Christmas. It was published 20 years ago, and I got through about half of the first

story before falling into language that is so problematic and is just not acceptable

today. The humour in this collection was decent, but too often relied on sexism, racism,

classism, homophobia, or ableism to make a marginalized group the butt of the joke.

I did enjoy learning what it is like to be one of Santa's elves, and one family Christmas card letter surprised

me in the path that it took, but it was not without its problems. Apparently there is

a revised edition, I don't know if it is any better, and I would straight up pass on this.

My first read for the Sapphicathon was Knit One Girl Two by Shira Glassman.

This was a short novella about a couple of geeky, artistic Jewish women who are collaborating

on a project and going on dates, and the only complaint I have is I wanted this to be a

full length novel. It was only 68 pages, and I would have loved if it had been fleshed

out to include another 200 pages, but that's probably because I loved all of the characters

so much that I just wanted more.

The final physical book I read this week was Girl Reading by Katie Ward.

I went into this without know anything else about it, and I am so glad I did, so

I'm going to keep this brief. One thing that took a little bit of getting

used to is that the author didn't use quotation marks to indicate dialogue, so sometimes it

was unclear if someone was talking, and if so, who. Despite this, I highly recommend

picking up this book. It is worth working through that initial confusion. This book

is broken up into seven different sections, and I really loved that the last section

tied it all together. If you like books about books or reading, which I clearly do, this

is something I think you should read.

This week, our Tuesday night dinner club watched Riverdale, Season 2, episodes 3 through 6.

I enjoy that this show is playing with social media, and how naive Archie can be. Most of

the parents continue to be terrible. I have a love/hate relationship with Cheryl; she

can be a human, and then she can be not. I'm waiting for this show's plot to give an

excuse for the song Black Betty to play as entrance music.

This week on Survivor, my favourite castaway still persists, the sneaky jerk looks

more and more like he's going to make it to the final three, and I am very excited for the finale.

This week I listened to Criminal, live at PodCon.

As you might have guessed from the name of the podcast, it is about crimes, but we also got to learn

a little bit of background about how Criminal came to be, and some of the peculiarities

of Phoebe's speech patterns. This live showing also had a visual element, which was incredibly

hilarious given the second story was about a man who has streaked at most major sporting

events, and [giggles] she put up a nude action shot and minutes later realized that she forgot

to engaged the little back box that covers the genitals.

This week, in preparation for meeting the authors, I did some catching up on Welcome

to Night Vale. I was first in line and didn't know how

much time I had, and was going to ask them for book recommendations but I kind of froze

and we talked about how pretty my tattoo is instead.

This most strange thing about being used to listening to somebody in the privacy of your

own home or in your transit bubble is seeing those people using that voice, talking unscripted.

Yes, that is how Jeffery and Joseph actually sound when they talk. Cecil and Meg can go

in and out of different inflections they use while voice acting show, and Dylan

has the same charming quality of voice if you stop him in the hallway and ask him for

a book recommendation. If you aren't acquainted with this small

desert town, it is the first podcast I ever listened to, and I completely adore it.

This week I listened to The Fifth Season by N. K. Jemisin.

This is a highly acclaimed fantasy book, the first in a series, and I am so glad that I

finally got to listen to it from my library. It is about 16 hours long, so I had to speed it

up to get it all done this week. This book follows a few different characters on journeys,

and I spent a decent amount of time getting distracted by how these characters interconnect.

In this world, there is a type of hereditary magic that allows certain people

to move stone through use if thermodynamics. At least I think that is the best way to describe it.

Additionally, every so often, the world experiences a fifth season, which can last

for hundreds of years, and cause a huge decline in population due to starvation.

Something I really enjoyed is that Essun's section was told in second person, which is a style

you don't see very often. It is also the perspective to which you may have noticed

I changed halfway through that sentence, and continued into this one. You

might be wondering why I am such a dork, but the universe has no answer for that.

This book has a cast of mostly, if not entirely, people of colour, diverse sexuality and family structures,

a clear cut class system, and intriguing views on power. I'm looking forward

to consuming the rest of the Broken Earth Trilogy.

That's it for this week. If you've read, watched, or listened to any of these, let

me know about it down in the comments below. On the way down to the comments, if you

hit that Subscribe button, that would be very nice of you. You can also like and share this

as you see fit, and I will see you tomorrow for more Bookmas. Bye!

I had to stop to answer the door and now I don't know where I was.
