One Bad Reddit Post Brought $198 in Adwords Traffic - Duration: 9:42.

So, last week I posted my vlog to Reddit.

It only got up to 23 upvotes, but that generated over 2,000 views and 170

subscriptions.

Then, over the next two days, I tried to duplicate that Reddit traffic using YouTube pre-roll

ads to find out the monetary value of that Reddit

post, As well as what views and subscribers cost,

right now, during Adpocalypse, using YouTube pre-roll ads.

Now, I know that numbers aren't for everyone, and this episode is going to be particularly

number heavy, so I wanted to add, next week,

I had an idea, I came up with a website, it was eChemistry.com.

I had 169,000 users.

I haven't talked about it since I shut it down,

but in next week's episode I'll discuss my experience turning an idea into a website.

Make sure you're subscribed so you don't miss it.

Now back to the current thing.

First, I'm going to show you the raw numbers and then we're going to go through them again

slowly to really pull out the meaning.

So, I took my vlog and paid to play it before any other video on YouTube, as an ad, to see

what it cost to get views and subscriptions.

Untargeted, the ad ran 1,137 times for $26.79.

That happened all within ten minutes.

It played all over YouTube on 1,050 different channels and brought in 30 subscriptions.

Targeted ads were viewed 780 times for $86.47 and brought in 67 subscriptions.

Then, finally, Reddit.

This post was not popular on Reddit.

It peaked at 23 upvotes and stabilized around 8.

The Reddit numbers were awful.

The YouTube numbers they generated were AMAZING.

That post alone brought in 2,335 views, 170 subscriptions and $1.01 in ad revenue.

Now there are a lot of ways to do the math here.

For Reddit I'm going to use peak votes, because I think the number of votes a Reddit post

has at its peak is the most influential in driving traffic.

So now, let's do meaning.

Unrestricted views cost me 2.36 cents per view.

When the ad shows and people skip before 30 seconds, I didn't pay anything.

But, anyone who hit 30 seconds I paid 2.36 cents each.

Now, with unrestricted views, 1 out of 43 people who watched for 30 seconds or more,

ended up subscribing.

That made the price per subscriber using YouTube pre-roll ads, on unrestricted content, during

Adpocalypse, 89.3 cents per subscriber.

I'll link to the video I used in the description below, if you want to see what they saw.

Next, targeted views.

I targeted several channels and even up to a bid of 30 cents per view I could only get

on the channel called "Crash Course."

Because I was targeting, the views cost much more.

I paid 11.1 cents per view on average, which is 4.7 times the cost of an unrestricted view.

But targeting worked in that 1 out of 11.5 people who viewed 30 seconds of the ad ended

up subscribing.

So, that's a conversion rate almost four times higher than the unrestricted views.

But because those eyes cost so much more, it ended up averaging out to $1.29 per new

subscriber using targeted ads.

So this could be different for your type of content, but for me, the niche I'm targeting

is so expensive that it's worth just shotgunning my ad out to unrestricted, untargeted viewers.

But trying targeted ads for similar content was really interesting for market research.

What that means is that advertisers think that users who watch this type of content

are more than ten times more valuable than random YouTube eyes.

To make this all better, Adwords has a coupon that I mentioned last week, which I link in

the description below.

When you spend $25 they'll add $75 to your account.

I was able to get a coupon for a hundred dollars when you spend $25 by calling the 1-800 number

on that page.

Using my actual numbers, unrestricted views which spent just the bare minimum 25, plus

the hundred dollars from the coupon would bring in 140 subscribers.

If you use the $75 coupon, that would bring in 112 subscribers.

Using my targeted numbers and the hundred dollar coupon, that would be 97 subscribers.

And with the $75 coupon it would be 77 subscribers.

This is a great example of why using data is important.

With the same $25 you can either get 140 subscribers or 77.

Now, if you're a huge channel this is a really bad idea.

Even at the cheapest possible option, those users would have to watch an average of 90

more videos just to make back the money it cost to get them in the first place.

But if you're a tiny channel, like me, then this is an amazing deal.

I have 324 subscribers, so I still know everyone's name and would be overwhelmed to get 140 more.

But before we hit conclusions, let's do Reddit.

At the peak this post had 23 net upvotes, with upvotes being the currency of Reddit.

Now here's the really amazing thing, 1 out of 13.7 views that came from Reddit ended

up subscribing.

If you compare that to the two Adwords options, the people who showed up were much more like

targeted viewers than like random viewers.

So each net upvote on that Reddit post brought in 101.5 YouTube views, 7.4 subscriptions

and 4.4 cents in ad revenue.

That is huge.

So, now, if I use my actual, combined numbers, that one unpopular Reddit post was worth $198.71

in Adwords driven subscriptions.

Or it was worth $128.52 in Adwords driven views.

So, if you were equally targeting views and subscriptions using my actual data,

then each net upvote at the peak added $7.11 in Adwords advertising to my post.

And each down vote took away $7.11 in Adwords ads.

Because you have the power to vote either way, your one vote made a $14.22 difference

in how many people came and saw my video.

This might be the one part of life where your one vote makes a huge, meaningful, instant

difference, regardless of what the majority ends up choosing.

So, summary points.

If 140 new subscribers would make a difference to you, from my experience, spending the $25

pre-rolling your ad, especially during Adpocalypse, is really worth it.

This was in last weeks' episode, but if you're going to buy a house, you buy it right after

the crash.

If you're going to buy stocks, buy them right after the crash.

If you're ever going to buy YouTube ads, do it during Adpocalypse.

I was able to get the $100 bonus coupon by calling, I don't know that everyone will be

able to get that.

Leave comments below on what works and what doesn't work, if you do call the number.

Test out targeted views.

They convert better and teach you about the value of your market.

But don't be afraid of untargeted views.

For me, untargeted pre-rolls were so much cheaper that they were the better option.

Next, don't use an adwords expert.

When I called to get that coupon, I got transferred to an "expert" who tried to help.

They're trained in selling products and external websites.

Mine didn't know what a vlog was.

And even after watching the episode and consulting with her manager, she suggested that instead

of running YouTube ads that I use regular Google search and buy the keywords "Free Online

Movie Download."

That's an adorable misunderstanding of what YouTube is and my "expert" was super nice

and really trying to help, but I deleted her entire campaign as soon as we got off the

phone so I could do it right.

Next, Reddit is better than Adwords for the effort you put in to get each viewer and subscriber.

YouTube is better than Reddit for friendly comments.

Reddit's thing is anonymity.

People make up weird usernames, and can say whatever they want with no repercussions.

That makes Reddit a really safe place to be mean and write mean comments.

If you have bile in your soul, Reddit is the place to take it out and spread it all over

the Internet.

So, post your content to Reddit. There are lots of good people there and it brings tons

of high quality traffic.

But then read your comments on YouTube where people use their real photos, their real names,

and people are much more supportive and friendly.

Adwords sells a great product, but dealing with them was one of the worst consumer experiences

of my life.

I was permanently banned, for life, from Adwords, while I was still on the phone with my Adwords

"expert" setting up my account for the first time.

Once you're banned, they send you a letter telling you that they won't tell you why you're

banned.

I ended up figuring out that it was because there's a # sign in my mailing address.

Billing cleared my ban as soon as I removed that pound sign.

But I had to open a second account in order to get the data for this video,

that's how I figured out that the # sign was the problem.

And now Terms & Conditions has permanently banned me for life because I opened that second

account.

Despite being banned, I'm going to try to find a way to repeat this experiment with

each vlog.

Day 1 will be Reddit.

Day 2 will be Adwords ads.

And, over time, hopefully the numbers will get better and better.

Looking at numbers like this, you can really see why entertainers make so much money.

If untargeted eyes are worth 2.36 cents each (per ad!).

And targeted eyes are worth more than 30 cents each (per ad!)

then anyone who can draw a huge audience is really drawing a huge amount of value for

advertisers.

So, to Redditors, thank you for all the traffic and subscriptions.

To YouTubers, I was overwhelmed with how friendly and supportive complete strangers were to

me, just because I posted one video.

Mouse over this floating face icon for the subscribe button so you're here for the eChemistry

story next week.

And the Reddit / Adwords updates, whenever they happen.

This is still the beginning of this channel, so you being here means way extra right now.

So: Thank you.

And I will see you next week.

Grasshopper-ARCHICAD Live Connection - Workflows: BIM Tower [6/6] - Duration: 6:22.

Start Rhinoceros

and display the New panel in the Rhino startup dialog.

Open an empty Rhino template.

Position Rhino on the left side of the screen.

Start Grasshopper by typing Grasshopper into the Rhino command line,

and position Grasshopper to the right side of the screen.

Open the BIMtower.gh file in Grasshopper.

The view settings of the Grasshopper file are set to "only draw preview geometry for selected objects",

so you can see only the selected elements in the Rhino preview.

If you wish to change that setting later, click on the green icon in the upper right corner among the other view setting options.

A spiraling BIM tower is our last example in this training.

A series of spiraling elements from both the facade and the structure of the tower.

Go to the "Components"view in Grasshopper

and drag a selection rectangle around the first 5 components as seen on the screen

in order to see the elements of the tower.

Let's have a look at the individual construction elements in Grasshopper - that are later converted to ARCHICAD elements.

The ARCHICAD type of the elements are shown in capital letters, in parentheses at the title of the dialogs.

Before the parentheses, the Grasshopper component name is shown.

Click on the Boundary Surfaces (SLABS) components in Grasshopper.

A series of surfaces follow the spiraling shape.

Each surface contains a hole for the concrete core of the tower.

These will be Slab elements in ARCHICAD.

Click on the Ruled Surface (RULED SHELLcore) component.

The core of the building is a ruled surface in Rhino that is fed to a Ruled Shell ARCHICAD Grasshopper component.

Click on the Pipe (COLUMNS) component

and proceed to clicking on the Pipe (BEAMS) component as well.

Columns and beams are defined for both the horizontal structural frame and the vertical structure.

Click on the Pipe (MULLIONS) components.

The facade is made up of Grasshopper pipes that become ARCHICAD mullions

and also a Morph element for the glass surface.

To see the surface, click on the Mesh (MORPH glass) components.

A model of similar size takes a bit of time to synchronize with ARCHICAD,

because ARCHICAD is creating parametric BIM elements, not just previews as Rhino does.

The construction elements should be synchronized one by one by switching on the Boolean toggles.

Switch each toggle from "false" to "true".

Start ARCHICAD and positionit at on the right side of the screen.

Open the BIMtower temp.pln file

and start the Grasshopper-ARCHICAD Live Connection as shown earlier.

Navigate to the ARCHICAD sync view in Grasshopper

and switch the Boolean toggles on by clicking on the right side of the toggles one by one to synchronize the tower with ARCHICAD.

Once we synchronize the model with ARCHICAD, we are able to generate plans, sections and elevations easily.

It also becomes intuitive and fast to query the model for schedules

that give us information on the BIM elements of the model.

Open the BIMtower.pln in ARCHICAD

from the "Rhino, Grasshopper and ARCHICAD example files folder.

This file has different schedules preset in it.

Click on the "floor areas" schedule from the Navigator Project Map.

The net and gross surface areas of the slabs can be listed as well as gross volumes of the slab with or without holes.

If we unlocked and deleted the current BIMtower in this file,

then reconnected the file to Grasshopper and decided to change the design at this point in Grasshopper,

then the schedules would be updated with the changed information instantaneously.

Click on the "contour beams" schedule from the Navigator Project Map.

The beams and columns can also be listed.

For columns, it makes sense to list them based on their slant angle as shown in this schedule view.

It is an option to schedule the columns ... based on slant angles.

In ARCHICAD, we can also create visual overrides to represent information in a graphical way.

Click on the "structural hierarchy" view from the Navigator View Map.

Structural Hierarchy can be visualized by coloring the main structural core red,

the slab supporting beam system blue,

and the mullions and transoms of the façade green.

Click on the "function categories" view from the View Map.

Functional Zones can also be visualized based on ARCHICAD properties of the spaces.

Click on the "floor plan area" view from the View Map.

This screen presents floor plan area measurements in a graphical format.

Trey Gowdy: Congress Will Subpoena Susan Rice to Testify If Necessary - Duration: 2:11.

susan Rice has refused to testify in front of Congress about the unmasking Trump aides

and officials.

Her excuse?

That the ranking member hadn't signed the invitation letter.

Republicans are asking Rice to testify after she asked for names linked to President Trump's

transition and campaign to be revealed.

But still, Rice refused.

Rice's attorney wrote a letter to the chairman and ranking member of the Senate Judiciary

Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism, Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI)stating:

"Senator Whitehouse has informed us by letter that he did not agree to Chairman Graham's

invitation to Ambassador Rice, a significant departure from the bipartisan invitations

extended to other witnesses.

Under these circumstances, Ambassador Rice respectfully declines Senator Graham's invitation

to testify," But Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) wasn't buying

Rice's excuses and has said he will issue a subpoena if needed.

"There are things called subpoenas.

You shouldn't have to use it with a former national security adviser, but if you do,

you do," Gowdy said.

"Members of Congress don't pick the witnesses.

Lawyers don't pick witnesses.

The facts pick the witnesses," Gowdy said.

"And whether Ambassador Rice likes it or not, she's a really important fact witness."

Even her own colleague Sen. Dianne Feinstein insists that Rice reconsider the invitation.

So what is Rice hiding?

She can talk about it in interviews on cable, so why does she not want to inform Congress?

Thank you listen! please subscribe to check news.

Please turn on subtitle if you can't hear voice clearly.

I'm Joey.

My Nvidia Shield TV Setup with Accessories Re-upload with Video of Setup - Duration: 14:01.

welcome to my Nvidia shield TV and today

we're going to take a look at my setup

for the shield TV I've disconnected

everything so I can show you guys

so there's the shield and as you can see

right there is the external hard drive

that I used as internal then it goes to

the USB here you can see the connection

the only one that's not here is the HDMI

but the first one right here is your

external internal then you have the USB

hub right here as you can see it's

hooked up to this hard drive you can

also hook up this little thingy which is

this you can see this is the mouse I use

as a little Dumbo

you can plug it in here is the

headphones that I used to record as you

can see and then there's the mic USB the

hard drive 5 terabyte hard drive the

only thing that's missing here is the

webcam but that's the setup a very quick

look at how I have my shield TV set up

there we go I have a 256 gigabyte SSD

external USB 3.0 hard drive SSD solid

state drive as my internal so it

replaces that 16 gigabyte hard drive

with 250 gigabytes and it's extremely

fast it's faster than the probe trust me

I've done the numbers the next thing I

have is a USB hub and that brings it all

together that basically connects all

this stuff down here you see

just by this one little device here and

then I have a five terabyte external

hard drive hooked up to the first slot

here so let's just go to settings and

check that out I actually have a one

terabyte hard drive right now because

I'm doing a reset so I saved I backed up

everything onto this one terabyte hard

drive it was only a hundred gigabytes

but I backed it up here's my internal as

you can see the 16 gigabyte gives you

actually 11 gigabyte hard drive internal

and now this is my internal when you

adapt it becomes your adapter storage

and that becomes your internal storage a

formats it and sets it all up so I have

that hooked up the next thing I have

actually what's moving the mouse right

now is this right here with this little

dongle set up right in here and it works

just like a regular Mouse sometimes I

put in a wired mouse the wired one works

a little bit different with the wired

mouse the keyboard down here opens up

much quicker than with this one the one

I have right here on hand which I'm

going to test is this one right here is

the MINIX I also have one of these which

the kids kind of messed up and this is

the same thing as the MINIX one but each

one has the little dongle and they work

only if you plug it into the USB hub the

next thing I'm using to record is this

right here a headphone with mic it has

to have a 3.5 millimeter jack and it

hooks up straight to the gamepad

as you can see right here we'll take a

look look a closer look at it later you

also have one of these with a USB and

see this one right here is another one I

have two USB you can use it for Skype or

twitch you know all the live stuff

hangouts it will work and it records and

it's very clear so the next the last

thing I have is a USB cam I don't use it

very much it's hooked up to the TV but

the kids sure do enjoy it and they

record straight to the external hard

drive so now let's go take a look at all

the products here take a closer look

as you can see you can get a one

terabyte external but there's no point

you really don't need that much internal

storage 16 is too small but 250 is the

perfect it's very hard to fill up to 50

if you're storing all your emulators at

net and games on the external as long as

it's 3.0 and it's a desktop that's

plugged in it will work fine

I play 4k movies some of those 4k movies

are a hundred gigabytes and it plays

perfectly through the USB hub so you can

see their different sizes this is the

one I have right here I got it for a

little cheaper was around 50 bucks and

it works great it's faster than the 500

gigabyte Pro so for anybody who's

getting a pro I suggest you get the 16

and spend the money on a solid-state

drive because there's nothing faster

than a solid solid state drive so now

let's take a look at the USB hubs as you

can see this is the one I own right now

that's plugged in right at this moment

right now the other one I have is this

one right here and I don't use it

anymore for some reason I don't know if

it's something went wrong with it but I

always thought that if it was plugged in

it would be better maybe it was

defective if any of you guys having a

plugged in one let me know might get

another one but this is the one I have

it's unbelievably fast quick small

so that's going to bring together all

your stuff so let's move on the external

hard drives

you don't need oh my goodness 8 terabyte

hard drive Jesus I thought 5 terabytes

was huge so let's scroll down I just

want to show you one thing here now I

have one of these right here it's

plugged in right now the 1 terabyte and

let me tell you it's much slower because

it's a portable then the then the

desktop one much much slower who is

directly plugged in to the shield not

going through the hub it would still be

slower than the desktop one so just

letting you guys know that now the next

one is obviously the air mouse you can

get a combo keyboard with mouse which is

what I'm using right now and this right

here is air mouse let's plugged in I'm

going to plug it in right now

I'm going to show you what the

difference is as you can see when I

select up here you can see the keyboard

pops up and I can do type in whatever

with the mouse now I'm going to put in

my MINIX won't air mouse and you're

going to see the difference so I'm

plugging it in now there we go it's

plugged in

this opens up for some reason so let's

go back I'm actually using the MINIX

Mouse here so here you see I'm moving it

around like a regular Mouse my wrists

everything works perfectly on here go up

moves up now the differences is when

you're typing now as you can see when I

select up here you see the bottom you

won't get a keyboard popping up anymore

when you're using one of these uh air

Mouse because it has a keyboard on the

back of it as you can see it's pretty

cool so let's go back and let's write

something in here

let's go home let's go into Firefox

I'm just going to type up here you see

at the bottom so I'm going to type on

the back YouTube I spelled it wrong but

you see at the bottom fix it up just

like that

and most of the buttons work I can go

home

pushing the home button the volume works

most of the buttons work as you can see

I'm moving everything around here and

I'm doing that with the bear Mouse so

that's the air Mouse let me unplug it so

I can go back to the some reason and

acts funny when there's two two of them

plugged in

so this is the one I'm using right now

when this is very good one of these

these are the ones I'm using with the

dongle works very well so let's go to

the microphone and headphone here now I

have one that's very similar to this the

reason I'm showing you this is down here

I want to show you this picture here

because these are the ones you have to

get if you're going to use with the

gamepad you see it has a 3.5 millimeter

jack here for your headphones let's hope

this thing as you can see goes straight

into your gamepad and then it comes with

this little one to go into your computer

but without that it will not work the

other one I have is something like this

and that's what I'm recording with right

now so let's go to the next one which is

what I use right here for Skype for I

use it for the hangouts and it works

very well

I have something that kind of looks like

that just a little more expensive or you

can get a Bluetooth one you also can get

with the headphones with the USB and you

plug it into your USB hub and it works

and the last one is your webcam and your

webcam comes all different this one has

this is the one I have right here

recording 1080p

one day I'm going to use this sucker who

knows totally the accessories I have

that's how I have my shield set up

guys if you like enjoyed this video

please give it a thumbs up if you guys

have any questions please leave them in

the comments and I'll get back to you as

soon as I can I hope you enjoy this

thank you so much for watching and take

care

Former President Obama recently received a $400,000 speaking fee.

This prompted two Congressmen to reintroduce a bill vetoed by Obama in 2016.

The bill would prevent past Presidents from receiving their Federal Pension if they make

more than $400,000 in a year.

Congressmen John Chaffetz introduced a bill in

the House.

Sen. Joni Ernst introduced a companion bill in the Senate.

Both have expressed hope that President Trump will sign the

bill into law.

Some say this

is a political move to draw attention to the fee

paid to Obama, while others say it is a political attack.

One thing is for sure, Chaffetz and Ernst are trying to take some of Obamas Ben Franklins!

LOL What do you think?

Ya know I like to experiment.

I just don't like the way that's doing.

I won't do that again.

We'll give that a little time to marinate.

Then go back with plain boiled linseed oil.

Grasshopper-ARCHICAD Live Connection - Rhinoceros Tutorial [1/6] - Duration: 17:05.

In this exercise, we'll present some basic Rhinoceros features and functions.

Open Rhinoceros 64-bit version by double-clicking its icon on the desktop.

Display the "New" panel on the startup dialog.

Select the"Large Object - Meter" template from the list.

In this guide, we will be specifying the size, distance, and other parameters, so keep in mind that your units are set in meters!

If,you experience issues later on with elements not appearing in ARCHICAD,

the reason could well be that you used the small values specified in this tutorial,

while your units remained set in millimeters for example.

Change the units as needed, by either selecting your units on the startup dialog screen or selecting a new template.

We will be using meters for units.

If the Rhino startup screen did not display or faded away too soon,

please select the "New" option form the File menu where you may also specify the necessary units.

Open the "Rhino hands-on tutorial.3dm" file from the File menu

to begin this chapter of the training.

This Rhino file is part of the downloaded training package.

How do we navigate in Rhino?

Use the right mouse button to Orbit.

PressShift + the right mouse button to Pan.

Please note that the shape of the cursor changes to reflect the navigation mode.

It is important to know the kind of elements used by Rhino,

because when we reference elements from Rhino to Grasshopper, we must use the right element containers.

Observe the different element types shown in this tutorial file.

There are 2D and 3D elements.

The 2D elements are Points,

Lines,

Polylines

and Curves.

Points are the most basic 2D elements: they are based on Cartesian coordinates, x, y, z.

Lines are connections between two points.

Polylines are a sequence of lines with a curve degree of 1.

Curves are polylines with a high curve degree.

Both Polylines and Curves can be either open or closed.

How do you change the curve degree?

Select the camel back-shaped polyline above the "Polylines open" text...

simply by clicking it with the mouse.

Type Rebuild into the Command Line.

When you press Enter, the Rebuild dialog appears, ...

and here you can change the curve degree.

Please enter 3 for the Degree value.

Observe how the polyline becomes a curve by changing the value of the curve degree.

Take a look at the 3D elements.

3D elements groups include Surfaces,

Poly-surfaces,

Extrusion Objects

and Meshes.

Surfaces in Rhino are like a stretchy rubber sheet.

Their topology is rectangular.

They can be modified with control points.

You can turn the control points on or off with this button,

located on the left side of the window.

Surfaces can be open or closed, trimmed and untrimmed.

Turn the control points on by clicking its icon, located on the left side of the window - as shown on the screen.

Notice that if you turn the control points on for a trimmed surface,

the original control points can be seen for the whole surface, regardless of the trimming.

In wireframe view, you can see a set of crossing curves (isocurves), alongthe V

and another set along the U direction.

They help you to visualize the surface.

If a surface is selected, you may change the isocurve density in the properties menu located on the right side of the window.

The properties menu can be reached from the Panels menu item.

Changing the isocurve density in the Properties panel on the right side, does not change the number of control points.

Click on a surface and change its isocurve density by typing a value higher than 1 into the Density field.

We'll enter 4 in this example.

Pan in the file to see the poly-surfaces.

Poly-surfaces are a series of connected, joined surfaces.

If they enclose a volume they are solid poly-surfaces.

Solid poly-surfaces must be "watertight," otherwise they are open poly-surfaces.

Sometimes a single surface can be solid, for example a sphere or a torus.

Extrusion objects are like poly-surfaces, but they use less memory.

Although Rhino is primarily a NURBS modeling software, it also includes mesh modeling tools.

We are not going to use the mesh modeling tools in this tutorial because of their limited importance in Grasshopper.

In Grasshopper, we are going to work mostly with Surfaces, so let's get acquainted with the surface tool in Rhino.

Choose the Surface Tools palette from the toolbar at the top.

Notice that this changes the setup tools on the left side of your Rhino window.

Pan towards the right of the 3D elements, to the text "extrude".

You can extrude 2D elements with the extrude tool.

You can use the extrude button from the setup tools, or type Extrude into the Command Line.

You can define the extrusion with various shortcuts:

D for Direction,

B for BothSides,

S for Solid,

L for Delete-lnput,

T for To-Boundary,

P for Split-At-Tangents

and A for Set-Base-Point.

You can also select these options from the Command Line.

Choose the polygon above the Extrude text by clicking it with the cursor.

Select the extrude command from the toolbar

and pull to extrude

finally click to finish the extrusion.

Undo the command.

Let's see how to change the default direction of the Extrusion.

Select the Polyline,

then click the Extrude button.

The extrusion appears.

Now select Direction in the command line or type D and press enter.

Now you have to define the Base point for direction,

then the Second direction point

and finally, the Extrusion distance.

You can issue these commands numerically by typing a number in the Command Line, or graphically by simply clicking on the screen.

Pan towards the right, to the text "revolve".

You can revolve elements with the Revolve button.

When you click on the Revolve button, it prompts you to select the curves to Revolve.

Select the curve shown on the screen,

then press enter.

Now define the start and the end of the axis.

To easily set the axis, turn on "Osnap" at the bottom of your window.

Make a checkmark in End, ... Point, ... Mid ... and Cent.

Set the start and the revolution angle by typing the number, or simply by clicking the beginning and end-point of the revolution.

Complete the revolve command.

You may also define a revolution angle numerically as shown on the screen.

The 4 point curve is the simplest surface.

You only need to define 4 points:

the program creates a surface connected to these points.

Pan towards an empty area.

Select the corresponding tool from the left.

Define 4 points to create a surface - as shown on the screen.

This tool defines a surface from 2, 3 or 4 edge curves.

Pan towards the text "4 edge curves".

Select the "Surface from 2, 3 or 4 edge curves"icon on the left.

Click the 4 curves above the text, as shown on the screen.

Notice that the created surface is split into three separate surfaces.

The created surface is not one, single NURBS surface, but a poly-surface.

This is indicated by bold, black curves.

What could be the reason for this?

The reason is that all edges of a NURBS surface must have the same curve degree.

Let's delete and undo the last operation.

As mentioned earlier, you can change the curve degree by typing Rebuild in the Command Line.

Select the curve edge on the right side,

as shown on the screen

and change its curve degree by using Rebuild.

Change the curve degree of the selected curve to 4.

The curve degree of the other curve edges are also set to4,

so now all four curves have the same curve degree values.

Now create the surface again using the same steps as before.

Click the Surface from 2, 3 or 4 edge curves icon,

and then click on the 4 edge curves again.

Notice that this time the result is a NURBS surface.

Pan to the right, towards the "Simple Loft" text.

Curves are "lofted" in the order you select them,

but it's also important where you select them.

Select the Loft icon on the left or type Loft in the Command Line.

Select the two lines to loft,

by clicking their opposite end points.

Notice that the created surface changes depending on which end of the curve you clicked on.

If you are not satisfied with the surface,

you can align the curves in the Loft Options dialog box that pops up during the creation of the loft.

Click the Align Curves button in the Loft Options dialog.

Drag one endpoint of the curve towards the other

and notice how the resulted surface changes.

The Loft Options dialog box includes several style options.

Normal, ... Loose... and Tight define how the loft fits the curves.

Straight sections will create separate sections between the curves.

Developable means that the loft can be created from a flat sheet for manufacturing purposes.

Don't modify the Style option this time.

Select the surface ... and type rebuild.

The Rebuild Surface dialog appears.

In this dialog, you can change the point count and the degree.

Be careful not to set the point count (the number of control points) too high.

In larger models, this can make the surface difficult to edit and display.

Pan towards the right, towards the "Multiple curve loft" text.

Select the corresponding command icon on the left.

Let's start creating a multiple curve loft

by selecting all 4 curves.

Please pay attention, and select the same end of all four curves.

If necessary you may use the "Align Curves" option later in the Loft Options dialog to modify the results, as shown on the screen.

You may also select a different Style for the Multiple Curve Loft.

Pan towards the right, towards the "Sweep 1" text.

Please notice that there are 2 different commands to Sweep.

You may use Sweep 1 or Sweep 2 rails.

You can also sweep one or more profile curves.

Let's take a look at the sweeping 1 rail option.

We are going to sweep one profile curve along one rail.

Click on the Sweep 1 Rail icon in the generic tool box on the left.

Rhino will prompt you to select the rail first, so please select the curve.

Then, continue by selecting the prompted Cross Section Curves, so select the single cross section.

When you're finished defining the curves, please press enter.

Now we're prompted to drag a seam point to adjust.

Define the direction in which the cross section is moved along the rail.

Do this by dragging the small arrow shown on the cross-section curve.

This will be more important when we work with more than one profile curve.

After pressing Enter, the Sweep 1 Rail Options dialog box appears.

Here you have more options to edit the surface.

Let's continue and see what happens when we have one rail, but two profile curves.

Select the Sweep 1 Rail command again.

After you set the rail, select the two cross sections.

Similarly, to the Loft command, it matters where you select the cross-section curves.

If you select the two curves on their opposite sides, the small arrows will point in different directions.

You can drag the seam points later if needed.

Select the opposite ends of the cross-section curves

and press enter without changing the seam points.

You will see that the beam is twisted.

Adjust the shapes by clicking the Align Shapes button in the Sweep 1 Rail Options dialog to fix this.

Pan to the right, towards the "Sweep2" text.

Now we are going to see how the Sweep 2 Rails tool works.

Select the Sweep 2 Rails command,

and select the two rails as shown on the screen.

Make sure to select the curves at their right edges.

As you are prompted to select the cross sections,

select the cross sections at the right end of the cross-section curves.

Press enter to see the resulting surface.

The Sweep 2 Rail Options dialog box appears, offering various cross-section curve options.

Enter 10 to the Rebuild With Control Points ... field.

Notice the Add Slash button.

Use this to set the direction of the curves that define the cross-section.

You can adjust the outcome of the operation by shifting the cross sections to another direction.

Click the Add Slash button to adjust the curves that define the cross-section.

Click OK to accept all changes and to close the dialog.

Congratulations, you have completed the basic Rhinoceros training!

subject it can be touchy we stopped in

front of a cell at the end of a very

long grey corridor only one window in

this whole unit at the very end of the

hall al turns to me the black scorpion

tattoo on his neck visible on the white

light filtering through the lone window

I should warn you he says this kids not

right I mean really not right I can't

let you in there alone I'm a little

surprised by his words this is the first

time L ever made a display of concern

for my safety in one of these cells

maybe they've upped the policies here

but I al buddy I can't get decent

answers out of him if a guards hanging

over his head I say he won't loosen up I

gotta work my magic on him l looked at

me for a long minute Jake

do you realize what he did to that Park

family I guess Al's right maybe I'm

being a little reckless but there's no

way this kid will tell me what I want to

hear with him hovering over us besides

what's he going to do to me in such a

small room what can he try to pull in a

cell with nothing in it to use as a

weapon I counter how about you stand

right outside and I'll holler if he

comes at me with this gal looks

reluctant he agrees ok I'll be here just

outside the door but look Jake the

trails off I can see the apprehension in

his eyes any funny business and I'm in

trouble and so are you i clap l

shoulders no need to worry al shakes his

head but unlocks the door left me inside

as he closes it quietly behind me I nod

at him reassuringly the silent I'll be

all right

the kid is standing in a corner of the

cell just staring in the distance pale

skin no hair completely bald I remember

that part striking me as weird no hair

maybe he was sick hi Solomon I say my

name is Jake no response unblinking eyes

he's not looking at me more downward I

get the feeling he's seen something I

feel a shiver creeping down my spine but

I tense my muscles warding it off I

won't let this kid get the best of me he

just not at all with it lots of people

aren't I was wondering if we could have

a little chat I say the cells small but

I take two steps forward he's still a

couple of yards away not responding I

been to his level Salman

I'm not the police I just want to ask

you a couple of questions about what

happened last night

I want your side of the story that gets

them the kid looks at me his irises are

what captivate me they're brilliantly

light the lightest blue I'd ever seen

like the palest clear sky engulfing me

suffocating me like I'm lying on the

grass looking up and it's swallowing my

entire being a memory of bad one tugs at

the corners of my mind but I struggle to

recall I can't focus on it above the

noise rings in my ears so loud what is

that I want to look awake he holds my

gaze not blinking the sound growing

louder and louder I feel a sweat break

out of my forehead a bee drone down the

side of my face the moment feels like a

century my ears

it must be bleeding from that noise I

yes I'd like to give you my side of the

story he says and the buzzing stops I'm

still reeling from the impact I feel

dizzy

off-balance like I'm gonna pass out I

put my hand on the cement wall to stay

myself

are you ready for what I have to say he

says I pause something told me to get

the hell out of here

this isn't safe this isn't right

nice although hard yes I say I'm ready
