One Bad Reddit Post Brought $198 in Adwords Traffic - Duration: 9:42.

So, last week I posted my vlog to Reddit.

It only got up to 23 upvotes, but that generated over 2,000 views and 170

subscriptions.

Then, over the next two days, I tried to duplicate that Reddit traffic using YouTube pre-roll

ads to find out the monetary value of that Reddit

post, As well as what views and subscribers cost,

right now, during Adpocalypse, using YouTube pre-roll ads.

Now, I know that numbers aren't for everyone, and this episode is going to be particularly

number heavy, so I wanted to add, next week,

I had an idea, I came up with a website, it was eChemistry.com.

I had 169,000 users.

I haven't talked about it since I shut it down,

but in next week's episode I'll discuss my experience turning an idea into a website.

Make sure you're subscribed so you don't miss it.

Now back to the current thing.

First, I'm going to show you the raw numbers and then we're going to go through them again

slowly to really pull out the meaning.

So, I took my vlog and paid to play it before any other video on YouTube, as an ad, to see

what it cost to get views and subscriptions.

Untargeted, the ad ran 1,137 times for $26.79.

That happened all within ten minutes.

It played all over YouTube on 1,050 different channels and brought in 30 subscriptions.

Targeted ads were viewed 780 times for $86.47 and brought in 67 subscriptions.

Then, finally, Reddit.

This post was not popular on Reddit.

It peaked at 23 upvotes and stabilized around 8.

The Reddit numbers were awful.

The YouTube numbers they generated were AMAZING.

That post alone brought in 2,335 views, 170 subscriptions and $1.01 in ad revenue.

Now there are a lot of ways to do the math here.

For Reddit I'm going to use peak votes, because I think the number of votes a Reddit post

has at its peak is the most influential in driving traffic.

So now, let's do meaning.

Unrestricted views cost me 2.36 cents per view.

When the ad shows and people skip before 30 seconds, I didn't pay anything.

But, anyone who hit 30 seconds I paid 2.36 cents each.

Now, with unrestricted views, 1 out of 43 people who watched for 30 seconds or more,

ended up subscribing.

That made the price per subscriber using YouTube pre-roll ads, on unrestricted content, during

Adpocalypse, 89.3 cents per subscriber.

I'll link to the video I used in the description below, if you want to see what they saw.

Next, targeted views.

I targeted several channels and even up to a bid of 30 cents per view I could only get

on the channel called "Crash Course."

Because I was targeting, the views cost much more.

I paid 11.1 cents per view on average, which is 4.7 times the cost of an unrestricted view.

But targeting worked in that 1 out of 11.5 people who viewed 30 seconds of the ad ended

up subscribing.

So, that's a conversion rate almost four times higher than the unrestricted views.

But because those eyes cost so much more, it ended up averaging out to $1.29 per new

subscriber using targeted ads.

So this could be different for your type of content, but for me, the niche I'm targeting

is so expensive that it's worth just shotgunning my ad out to unrestricted, untargeted viewers.

But trying targeted ads for similar content was really interesting for market research.

What that means is that advertisers think that users who watch this type of content

are more than ten times more valuable than random YouTube eyes.

To make this all better, Adwords has a coupon that I mentioned last week, which I link in

the description below.

When you spend $25 they'll add $75 to your account.

I was able to get a coupon for a hundred dollars when you spend $25 by calling the 1-800 number

on that page.

Using my actual numbers, unrestricted views which spent just the bare minimum 25, plus

the hundred dollars from the coupon would bring in 140 subscribers.

If you use the $75 coupon, that would bring in 112 subscribers.

Using my targeted numbers and the hundred dollar coupon, that would be 97 subscribers.

And with the $75 coupon it would be 77 subscribers.

This is a great example of why using data is important.

With the same $25 you can either get 140 subscribers or 77.

Now, if you're a huge channel this is a really bad idea.

Even at the cheapest possible option, those users would have to watch an average of 90

more videos just to make back the money it cost to get them in the first place.

But if you're a tiny channel, like me, then this is an amazing deal.

I have 324 subscribers, so I still know everyone's name and would be overwhelmed to get 140 more.

But before we hit conclusions, let's do Reddit.

At the peak this post had 23 net upvotes, with upvotes being the currency of Reddit.

Now here's the really amazing thing, 1 out of 13.7 views that came from Reddit ended

up subscribing.

If you compare that to the two Adwords options, the people who showed up were much more like

targeted viewers than like random viewers.

So each net upvote on that Reddit post brought in 101.5 YouTube views, 7.4 subscriptions

and 4.4 cents in ad revenue.

That is huge.

So, now, if I use my actual, combined numbers, that one unpopular Reddit post was worth $198.71

in Adwords driven subscriptions.

Or it was worth $128.52 in Adwords driven views.

So, if you were equally targeting views and subscriptions using my actual data,

then each net upvote at the peak added $7.11 in Adwords advertising to my post.

And each down vote took away $7.11 in Adwords ads.

Because you have the power to vote either way, your one vote made a $14.22 difference

in how many people came and saw my video.

This might be the one part of life where your one vote makes a huge, meaningful, instant

difference, regardless of what the majority ends up choosing.

So, summary points.

If 140 new subscribers would make a difference to you, from my experience, spending the $25

pre-rolling your ad, especially during Adpocalypse, is really worth it.

This was in last weeks' episode, but if you're going to buy a house, you buy it right after

the crash.

If you're going to buy stocks, buy them right after the crash.

If you're ever going to buy YouTube ads, do it during Adpocalypse.

I was able to get the $100 bonus coupon by calling, I don't know that everyone will be

able to get that.

Leave comments below on what works and what doesn't work, if you do call the number.

Test out targeted views.

They convert better and teach you about the value of your market.

But don't be afraid of untargeted views.

For me, untargeted pre-rolls were so much cheaper that they were the better option.

Next, don't use an adwords expert.

When I called to get that coupon, I got transferred to an "expert" who tried to help.

They're trained in selling products and external websites.

Mine didn't know what a vlog was.

And even after watching the episode and consulting with her manager, she suggested that instead

of running YouTube ads that I use regular Google search and buy the keywords "Free Online

Movie Download."

That's an adorable misunderstanding of what YouTube is and my "expert" was super nice

and really trying to help, but I deleted her entire campaign as soon as we got off the

phone so I could do it right.

Next, Reddit is better than Adwords for the effort you put in to get each viewer and subscriber.

YouTube is better than Reddit for friendly comments.

Reddit's thing is anonymity.

People make up weird usernames, and can say whatever they want with no repercussions.

That makes Reddit a really safe place to be mean and write mean comments.

If you have bile in your soul, Reddit is the place to take it out and spread it all over

the Internet.

So, post your content to Reddit. There are lots of good people there and it brings tons

of high quality traffic.

But then read your comments on YouTube where people use their real photos, their real names,

and people are much more supportive and friendly.

Adwords sells a great product, but dealing with them was one of the worst consumer experiences

of my life.

I was permanently banned, for life, from Adwords, while I was still on the phone with my Adwords

"expert" setting up my account for the first time.

Once you're banned, they send you a letter telling you that they won't tell you why you're

banned.

I ended up figuring out that it was because there's a # sign in my mailing address.

Billing cleared my ban as soon as I removed that pound sign.

But I had to open a second account in order to get the data for this video,

that's how I figured out that the # sign was the problem.

And now Terms & Conditions has permanently banned me for life because I opened that second

account.

Despite being banned, I'm going to try to find a way to repeat this experiment with

each vlog.

Day 1 will be Reddit.

Day 2 will be Adwords ads.

And, over time, hopefully the numbers will get better and better.

Looking at numbers like this, you can really see why entertainers make so much money.

If untargeted eyes are worth 2.36 cents each (per ad!).

And targeted eyes are worth more than 30 cents each (per ad!)

then anyone who can draw a huge audience is really drawing a huge amount of value for

advertisers.

So, to Redditors, thank you for all the traffic and subscriptions.

To YouTubers, I was overwhelmed with how friendly and supportive complete strangers were to

me, just because I posted one video.

Mouse over this floating face icon for the subscribe button so you're here for the eChemistry

story next week.

And the Reddit / Adwords updates, whenever they happen.

This is still the beginning of this channel, so you being here means way extra right now.

So: Thank you.

And I will see you next week.

Trey Gowdy: Congress Will Subpoena Susan Rice to Testify If Necessary - Duration: 2:11.

susan Rice has refused to testify in front of Congress about the unmasking Trump aides

and officials.

Her excuse?

That the ranking member hadn't signed the invitation letter.

Republicans are asking Rice to testify after she asked for names linked to President Trump's

transition and campaign to be revealed.

But still, Rice refused.

Rice's attorney wrote a letter to the chairman and ranking member of the Senate Judiciary

Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism, Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI)stating:

"Senator Whitehouse has informed us by letter that he did not agree to Chairman Graham's

invitation to Ambassador Rice, a significant departure from the bipartisan invitations

extended to other witnesses.

Under these circumstances, Ambassador Rice respectfully declines Senator Graham's invitation

to testify," But Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) wasn't buying

Rice's excuses and has said he will issue a subpoena if needed.

"There are things called subpoenas.

You shouldn't have to use it with a former national security adviser, but if you do,

you do," Gowdy said.

"Members of Congress don't pick the witnesses.

Lawyers don't pick witnesses.

The facts pick the witnesses," Gowdy said.

"And whether Ambassador Rice likes it or not, she's a really important fact witness."

Even her own colleague Sen. Dianne Feinstein insists that Rice reconsider the invitation.

So what is Rice hiding?

She can talk about it in interviews on cable, so why does she not want to inform Congress?

Thank you listen! please subscribe to check news.

Please turn on subtitle if you can't hear voice clearly.

My Nvidia Shield TV Setup with Accessories Re-upload with Video of Setup - Duration: 14:01.

welcome to my Nvidia shield TV and today

we're going to take a look at my setup

for the shield TV I've disconnected

everything so I can show you guys

so there's the shield and as you can see

right there is the external hard drive

that I used as internal then it goes to

the USB here you can see the connection

the only one that's not here is the HDMI

but the first one right here is your

external internal then you have the USB

hub right here as you can see it's

hooked up to this hard drive you can

also hook up this little thingy which is

this you can see this is the mouse I use

as a little Dumbo

you can plug it in here is the

headphones that I used to record as you

can see and then there's the mic USB the

hard drive 5 terabyte hard drive the

only thing that's missing here is the

webcam but that's the setup a very quick

look at how I have my shield TV set up

there we go I have a 256 gigabyte SSD

external USB 3.0 hard drive SSD solid

state drive as my internal so it

replaces that 16 gigabyte hard drive

with 250 gigabytes and it's extremely

fast it's faster than the probe trust me

I've done the numbers the next thing I

have is a USB hub and that brings it all

together that basically connects all

this stuff down here you see

just by this one little device here and

then I have a five terabyte external

hard drive hooked up to the first slot

here so let's just go to settings and

check that out I actually have a one

terabyte hard drive right now because

I'm doing a reset so I saved I backed up

everything onto this one terabyte hard

drive it was only a hundred gigabytes

but I backed it up here's my internal as

you can see the 16 gigabyte gives you

actually 11 gigabyte hard drive internal

and now this is my internal when you

adapt it becomes your adapter storage

and that becomes your internal storage a

formats it and sets it all up so I have

that hooked up the next thing I have

actually what's moving the mouse right

now is this right here with this little

dongle set up right in here and it works

just like a regular Mouse sometimes I

put in a wired mouse the wired one works

a little bit different with the wired

mouse the keyboard down here opens up

much quicker than with this one the one

I have right here on hand which I'm

going to test is this one right here is

the MINIX I also have one of these which

the kids kind of messed up and this is

the same thing as the MINIX one but each

one has the little dongle and they work

only if you plug it into the USB hub the

next thing I'm using to record is this

right here a headphone with mic it has

to have a 3.5 millimeter jack and it

hooks up straight to the gamepad

as you can see right here we'll take a

look look a closer look at it later you

also have one of these with a USB and

see this one right here is another one I

have two USB you can use it for Skype or

twitch you know all the live stuff

hangouts it will work and it records and

it's very clear so the next the last

thing I have is a USB cam I don't use it

very much it's hooked up to the TV but

the kids sure do enjoy it and they

record straight to the external hard

drive so now let's go take a look at all

the products here take a closer look

as you can see you can get a one

terabyte external but there's no point

you really don't need that much internal

storage 16 is too small but 250 is the

perfect it's very hard to fill up to 50

if you're storing all your emulators at

net and games on the external as long as

it's 3.0 and it's a desktop that's

plugged in it will work fine

I play 4k movies some of those 4k movies

are a hundred gigabytes and it plays

perfectly through the USB hub so you can

see their different sizes this is the

one I have right here I got it for a

little cheaper was around 50 bucks and

it works great it's faster than the 500

gigabyte Pro so for anybody who's

getting a pro I suggest you get the 16

and spend the money on a solid-state

drive because there's nothing faster

than a solid solid state drive so now

let's take a look at the USB hubs as you

can see this is the one I own right now

that's plugged in right at this moment

right now the other one I have is this

one right here and I don't use it

anymore for some reason I don't know if

it's something went wrong with it but I

always thought that if it was plugged in

it would be better maybe it was

defective if any of you guys having a

plugged in one let me know might get

another one but this is the one I have

it's unbelievably fast quick small

so that's going to bring together all

your stuff so let's move on the external

hard drives

you don't need oh my goodness 8 terabyte

hard drive Jesus I thought 5 terabytes

was huge so let's scroll down I just

want to show you one thing here now I

have one of these right here it's

plugged in right now the 1 terabyte and

let me tell you it's much slower because

it's a portable then the then the

desktop one much much slower who is

directly plugged in to the shield not

going through the hub it would still be

slower than the desktop one so just

letting you guys know that now the next

one is obviously the air mouse you can

get a combo keyboard with mouse which is

what I'm using right now and this right

here is air mouse let's plugged in I'm

going to plug it in right now

I'm going to show you what the

difference is as you can see when I

select up here you can see the keyboard

pops up and I can do type in whatever

with the mouse now I'm going to put in

my MINIX won't air mouse and you're

going to see the difference so I'm

plugging it in now there we go it's

plugged in

this opens up for some reason so let's

go back I'm actually using the MINIX

Mouse here so here you see I'm moving it

around like a regular Mouse my wrists

everything works perfectly on here go up

moves up now the differences is when

you're typing now as you can see when I

select up here you see the bottom you

won't get a keyboard popping up anymore

when you're using one of these uh air

Mouse because it has a keyboard on the

back of it as you can see it's pretty

cool so let's go back and let's write

something in here

let's go home let's go into Firefox

I'm just going to type up here you see

at the bottom so I'm going to type on

the back YouTube I spelled it wrong but

you see at the bottom fix it up just

like that

and most of the buttons work I can go

home

pushing the home button the volume works

most of the buttons work as you can see

I'm moving everything around here and

I'm doing that with the bear Mouse so

that's the air Mouse let me unplug it so

I can go back to the some reason and

acts funny when there's two two of them

plugged in

so this is the one I'm using right now

when this is very good one of these

these are the ones I'm using with the

dongle works very well so let's go to

the microphone and headphone here now I

have one that's very similar to this the

reason I'm showing you this is down here

I want to show you this picture here

because these are the ones you have to

get if you're going to use with the

gamepad you see it has a 3.5 millimeter

jack here for your headphones let's hope

this thing as you can see goes straight

into your gamepad and then it comes with

this little one to go into your computer

but without that it will not work the

other one I have is something like this

and that's what I'm recording with right

now so let's go to the next one which is

what I use right here for Skype for I

use it for the hangouts and it works

very well

I have something that kind of looks like

that just a little more expensive or you

can get a Bluetooth one you also can get

with the headphones with the USB and you

plug it into your USB hub and it works

and the last one is your webcam and your

webcam comes all different this one has

this is the one I have right here

recording 1080p

one day I'm going to use this sucker who

knows totally the accessories I have

that's how I have my shield set up

guys if you like enjoyed this video

please give it a thumbs up if you guys

have any questions please leave them in

the comments and I'll get back to you as

soon as I can I hope you enjoy this

thank you so much for watching and take

care

you

Congressmen are going after Barack Obama and Benjamin Franklin - politics - Duration: 3:32.

Congressmen are going after Barack Obama and Benjamin Franklin.

Former President Obama recently received a $400,000 speaking fee.

This prompted two Congressmen to reintroduce a bill vetoed by Obama in 2016.

The bill would prevent past Presidents from receiving their Federal Pension if they make

more than $400,000 in a year.

Congressmen John Chaffetz introduced a bill in

the House.

Sen. Joni Ernst introduced a companion bill in the Senate.

Both have expressed hope that President Trump will sign the

bill into law.

Some say this

is a political move to draw attention to the fee

paid to Obama, while others say it is a political attack.

One thing is for sure, Chaffetz and Ernst are trying to take some of Obamas Ben Franklins!

LOL What do you think?

this I've got a list of questions in a

notebook in the hand and religion isn't

one of them but it should be I think

about how I'm going to broach the

subject it can be touchy we stopped in

front of a cell at the end of a very

long grey corridor only one window in

this whole unit at the very end of the

hall al turns to me the black scorpion

tattoo on his neck visible on the white

light filtering through the lone window

I should warn you he says this kids not

right I mean really not right I can't

let you in there alone I'm a little

surprised by his words this is the first

time L ever made a display of concern

for my safety in one of these cells

maybe they've upped the policies here

but I al buddy I can't get decent

answers out of him if a guards hanging

over his head I say he won't loosen up I

gotta work my magic on him l looked at

me for a long minute Jake

do you realize what he did to that Park

family I guess Al's right maybe I'm

being a little reckless but there's no

way this kid will tell me what I want to

hear with him hovering over us besides

what's he going to do to me in such a

small room what can he try to pull in a

cell with nothing in it to use as a

weapon I counter how about you stand

right outside and I'll holler if he

comes at me with this gal looks

reluctant he agrees ok I'll be here just

outside the door but look Jake the

trails off I can see the apprehension in

his eyes any funny business and I'm in

trouble and so are you i clap l

shoulders no need to worry al shakes his

head but unlocks the door left me inside

as he closes it quietly behind me I nod

at him reassuringly the silent I'll be

all right

the kid is standing in a corner of the

cell just staring in the distance pale

skin no hair completely bald I remember

that part striking me as weird no hair

maybe he was sick hi Solomon I say my

name is Jake no response unblinking eyes

he's not looking at me more downward I

get the feeling he's seen something I

feel a shiver creeping down my spine but

I tense my muscles warding it off I

won't let this kid get the best of me he

just not at all with it lots of people

aren't I was wondering if we could have

a little chat I say the cells small but

I take two steps forward he's still a

couple of yards away not responding I

been to his level Salman

I'm not the police I just want to ask

you a couple of questions about what

happened last night

I want your side of the story that gets

them the kid looks at me his irises are

what captivate me they're brilliantly

light the lightest blue I'd ever seen

like the palest clear sky engulfing me

suffocating me like I'm lying on the

grass looking up and it's swallowing my

entire being a memory of bad one tugs at

the corners of my mind but I struggle to

recall I can't focus on it above the

noise rings in my ears so loud what is

that I want to look awake he holds my

gaze not blinking the sound growing

louder and louder I feel a sweat break

out of my forehead a bee drone down the

side of my face the moment feels like a

century my ears

it must be bleeding from that noise I

yes I'd like to give you my side of the

story he says and the buzzing stops I'm

still reeling from the impact I feel

dizzy

off-balance like I'm gonna pass out I

put my hand on the cement wall to stay

myself

are you ready for what I have to say he

says I pause something told me to get

the hell out of here

this isn't safe this isn't right

nice although hard yes I say I'm ready

you

Episode 30 - A Ranchers Steak - Duration: 5:14.

Hi, I'm Erin and this is Our Wyoming Life.

Beef it's what's for dinner.

Stick around to the end of the video to find out how you can win two free Our Wyoming Life

steaks.

Shipped right to your door.

I get asked all the time at farmers' market how to make things.

Some of the most asked questions are what do you do with a kohli rabi?

I always say slice it, salt it and eat it raw.

Another common question is what is this really pretty rhubarb looking thing.

That's rainbow chard.

I like it best chopped and sautéed with a little garlic and olive oil.

What's your favorite steak?

Actually our favorite you won't even find on the price sheet.

Mike and I both love the tenderloin filet.

We love it so much that we don't even sell it.

We keep all the filets for ourselves.

Yes it's pretty selfish but I like to think of it as one of the few rewards that we take

for ourselves for all the hard work we do.

I'm going to show you our favorite way to cook a tenderloin filet.

This steak has been completely thawed and has been sitting on the counter for the last

30 minutes warming up a little.

This will help keep it super tender once it's cooked.

The only seasoning I'm going to use on the steak is a liberal sprinkling of salt and

some fresh cracked pepper.

Make sure to get both sides.

I will also need some garlic and a few sprigs of fresh thyme.

Over at the stove I'm going to use a heavy bottom pan.

I want a skillet that can get super hot.

The oven is turned on to 400 and is ready to go.

Some olive oil and a little canola oil go into the pan and then it's turned on medium

high to get screaming hot.

Once the pan is ready I place the steak in.

It cooks for 2-3 minutes without being messed with.

I want it to form a really great crust on the bottom.

It should release easily when it's ready to be flipped.

2 more minutes and then it's time to add the thyme, garlic and a liberal scoop of butter.

Once the butter melts a large spoon is used to baste the steak in the garlic butter.

Then into the oven for 3-4 minutes depending on how well done you want your steak.

I'm going for a medium rare to medium cook.

Once out of the oven it's onto the cutting board to rest.

The steak gets covered with some foil and left alone for 5-10 minutes.

This allows all the juice to be redistributed and to stay in the steak once it's cut.

Ok moment of truth here.

Oh it looks beautiful.

It's perfectly done.

It's tender and juicy and you can really taste the garlic and thyme.

I definitely love this cut of beef.

This technique would work with any type of steak.

CoD 2 Spanish Civil War ► Act III - Mission 9: "The University City" - Duration: 20:17.

Madrid, November 15, 1936

The Madrid front has been established in the Casa de Campo. Even though rebel forces have managed to gain terrain, Asensio's column has fallen under siege.

It is foreseen that Barrón's and Delgado's columns will come to his aid. With the forces once again assembled, the Nationalist strategy must go through taking the University City.

"The university city"

Madrid November 16, 1936

Near the Manzanares River

Bravissimo! Our bombardments have devastated the area. But there's still a group of enemy Spaniards resisting. We have to take them out presto!

Here we are, sir. I've gladly gone through bursts of whistling bullets to get to you.

We were waiting for you with impatience. That area is vital for the Republicans and it will be heavily protected. Go carefully.

Start uncorking the champagne, sir. Your most coraggioso soldier will give you the victory.

We are leaving! Don't get left behind, Corporal!

They're inside!

Militiamen and workers of Madrid, lay down your weapons. Break free from your scummy leaders that have always lied to you and now abandon you. We know who the culprits are and only upon them will the weight of the law fall. Just one cry shall unite us - Viva España.

Attention, Madridians - Having Nationalist forces reached the gates of the heart of Madrid and having overtaken the south of the Manzanares, as resistance persists, all the population becomes a military target and battlefield.

Mission accomplished, sir. The Republican bullets have to be faster to catch me next time. But we've suffered many casualties.

Everything has a price. The University City will not hold for long.

"Know, Madridians, that bigger the obstacle, harder will your punishment be. The attached sketch shows how three quarters of the national territory are in our hands, it should open your eyes better than any long speech. Madridians! Your freedom day is very near. If you want to save your lives and avoid irreparable damage, surrender unconditionally to our generosity." - Francisco Franco
