Hi everybody it's Thespina!

I work in retail which means

I have to deal with stupid customers

and this is my top list of annoying customers

Number 1: Serial Returners

If you've returned more than 3 items in a 3 month period

or you've returned every single item you've purchased from a store... I hate you.

If you're buying something make the decision on the spot

If you're not convinced, go home and think about it.

Don't buy it because you're bored and have nothing better to do

"Excuse me its brand new. It's in the box so I would like a refund"

You see this tsoureki, my family didn't eat it at Easter

so I want a refund, it's still in the package.

It's still got the egg in it and everything. I haven't even opened it.

Number 2: Time Wasters

These are the people that come in the store and make it sound like they're going to buy something

so you end up spending heaps of time with them

in fact you might even spend over an hour with them

only to find out that they'll "think about it"

If you're bored browse, look at the stuff

but there is no need to take up a shop assistant's time

we've got a long list of things to do

other customers we should be serving. If you're not going to buy

Don't waste our time.

Number 3: The wear and tear returners

After using an item everyday for 6 months

bring the item back and complain it's faulty

If you've used the item more than 3 times and it's been over a month since you purchased it

It's not faulty...it's wear and tear.

Number 4: The over entitled customer

This one gets on my nerves like anything.

This is the customer that thinks that just because she's been shopping at your store for over 10 years

she is entitled to anything and everything

This could be something as small as a discount or a return of a product she bought 2 years ago

without a receipt or proof of purchase

If you don't have a receipt and you don't have a proof of purchase

I can't do anything

Okay yes, you might be purchasing items for 10 years

I dont care.

"Unless you give me a discount you will be losing my loyal service. I just want a discount!"

"just give me 10% off"

I get it you've been loyal to us for 10 years and blah blah blah...

That doesn't mean that I can bend the rules for you.

I'm going to lose my job if I give you an extra discount!

"I know they're $5 it doesn't matter I want 10% off!!!!"

Number 5: The investigator

This is the customer that will ask you a question

and then ask you the same question another 3 times followed by... "are you sure?"

YES I'M SURE THE PRODUCT IS OUT OF STOCK

AND I AM SURE THAT I HAVE CHECKED THE OTHER STORES

AND I'M SURE THERE'S NONE AVAILABLE ANYWHERE ELSE

LIKE IN THE WORLD

"Are you sure?"

Stop wasting my time and get out of here

If I tell you once listen carefully

because there is no way that you're getting the answer that you want!

it's not available...get it through your head

what do you want me to do? Pull one out of a magic hat?

no I don't own a magic hat... that would be pretty cool if I did!

So they are my top 5 most annoying customers

How to Improve Your Reading Skills - Duration: 4:27.

Because good reading skills will improve your overall English language skills!

So let me tell you how you can improve your reading!

After spending many years in school, we think we're good at reading. But what if I tell you we're not?

And that reading greatly affects our ability to learn a language?

Let me explain: First, reading can improve your vocabulary.

Studies show that reading significantly improves people's receptive vocabulary.

These are words that you might not necessarily be able to produce, but you can recognize them and understand them when you read them in a text.

Studies have also shown that vocabulary is most important when learning a new language.

Second, by actively observing the text, you can improve your grammar.

Basically, your grammar improves when you're paying attention to what you're reading and follow the patterns of the text.

This will enhance other skills, such as writing, or speaking, and it's especially important if you're trying to learn English for academic or business purposes.

Here are four ways to improve your reading.

Number one

Read, and read as much as possible!

There're so many things you can read in English: books, magazines, articles, newspapers,

and of course our Interactive English lessons!

Our advice to you? Read something you like!

If you like history, read about history. If you like sports, read about sports.

Just choose something that will keep you reading, and remember: practice makes perfect.

Whatever it is you're reading, read it more than once.

The second way to improve your reading is to check your comprehension.

Sure, you read something, but how do you know you understand it?

Well, for example, if you're reading an academic article, you can write down the main idea of each paragraph.

Then, when you're done reading, you have a summary of the entire article.

Or, if you're reading a storybook, check your comprehension by paraphrasing what you've read.

You can either write it or say it in your own words.

If you have difficulty paraphrasing what you've read, then this will show you that you probably need to reread the story.

And of course, you can check your comprehension by practicing with us!

In our videos, we ask you comprehension questions and we'll help you find the right answer if you make a mistake.

The third way to improve your reading? Read at the right speed!

Let your hand be your guide. Put your finger on the text and move it along as you read.

This will help you find the right speed for you that will maximize your comprehension.

Or you can also practice with us!

In many of our reading videos, we show you texts that move at the speed of a native English speaker.

Look, this may be challenging, but it will train your mind to start reading faster.

The fourth and final way to improve your reading is to interact and engage with the text.

Ask questions about what you are reading, just like you would ask to another person.

For example, before you read, you might ask:

Then look for the answers while you read.If you're an advanced English learner, think of questions with more substance.

When you interact with the text, you will become a better, more efficient reader.

And you will have a lot more fun reading, as well!
