IT reviewed (*no spoilers before 2:22*) - Duration: 9:17.Hey guys BigBigFlo here and tod..
… and today we're talking about..
… IT!
The story takes place in Derry in 1989.
The town is somehow haunted but a bunch of kids wanna find out the truth about this evil
clown who is terrorizing them.
The movie was directed by Argentine director Andrès Muschietti, who had previously directed
the horror movie in 2013 called: Mama.
In this movie, IT, the director chose to slightly adapt Pennywise, the dancing clown, from the book.
"My approach to Pennywise was, on one hand, I wanted to stay true to the essence of the
character, but at the same time make it an edgier character who's basically unpredictable
and people won't expect everything that he comes up with."
The cast is led by Jaeden Lieberher, for the good guys, and by Bill Skarsgard, for.. well..
for the clown.
Bill's face and expression in that movie are very… hmm.. specific!
"My older brother Gustav, he's an actor as well, he had this ability to do.. you know,
point his lips in a very strange way.
And for some reason I don't know how I understood I could do it as well.
But I was like maybe 10 years old and…
Oh my!
Can we see that?
Just for that camera right there.
Number 3!"
Interesting fact: Pennywise's eyes looking in 2 different directions are not due to CGI
but to the actor's impressive ability.
Just to be clear, I'm not a big fan of horror movies.
95% of the one I've seen are just stupid with a very weak storyline.
Also, I can't compare the movie to Stephen King's book as I haven't read it.
However I truly enjoyed the movie, even though it wasn't really that scary but more about
making the audience feel uncomfortable.
Apparently fans of the book and the mini serie seem to have enjoyed it too.
It is not the movie of the year, but it is a good horror movie.
In short… go watch it to make up your opinion and come back to tell me what you thought
of it in the comments.
That's it for the non-spoilers, so be sure to be back to watch the end this video once
you've seen the movie!
!SPOILERS!
!SPOILERS!
There isn't much that actually bothered with this movie.
So we'll talk about those two big points and then will talk about what I think worked well.
1) The movie doesn't really start until they all start sharing their stories with
each other, and it's like 1 hour in the movie.
Until that point we don't know who we are following, where the movie is going or what
their goal is.
It's messy!
2) From the start, the movie uses cheap ways to try to scare you when it doesn't actually
need it.
It would almost feel like the film makers think that 'loud sound' equal 'scary'.
I will not explain why this is wrong, as people have done it before me.
But I will link in the description to those videos and I strongly advise you to go watch them
cause they're just super interesting.
And now here is why I think the movie worked.
1) A fantastic cast!
Every performances was on point!
Interesting fact: To have that real friendship feeling between the kids, the actors have
spent 3 weeks together bounding and playing before the shoot.
"One of the things I wanted to do in the novel, in all of my novels, is to create characters
who are fundamentally decent by in large.
In that way you don't want them to be spam in a cabin, you don't want them wiped out.
You want them to live and you want them to win!
And I think that translates to the film, that's one of the reasons I really like this movie."
2) A bad guy well worked out.
As it's often said "a movie is only as good as its villain" and, in that case,
it is true.
Bill Skarsgard brings to this movie what Heath Ledger brought to The Dark Knight.
HOW DARE YOU?
I know, I know, don't worry, the Dark Knight is still much better.
"I was staying at this house, and there were four people in the house and I felt very
self conscience about practicing a clown laugh.
So I get in the car, and you know when you're in a car you get in that safe bubble being
in your own car, in clown face.. and I'm like
"here it is: AHAHAHAH!".
And I just started, you know with the laugh.
– Alone in the car?
– Driving through Hollywood in clown face, laughing like a maniac."
3) The music was just the way it is supposed to be for that genre, no more no less.
4) It was really well shot and extremely well lit.
But what makes IT stand out from the other horror movies, to me, is its camera work.
It makes you feel uncomfortable, breaking the rules of physics making Pennywise's
actions unpredictable.
Pennywise isn't always fully shown, which actually makes it look scarier.
5) This oppressing feeling was well balanced with some relax and fun times in the second
part of the movie.
I actually found myself laughing more often than getting scared and I wasn't just laughing
at people jumping in their seats!
I might have.. once… twice..
Interesting fact:
"Is it true you guys didn't see him until you had to actually shoot a scene with Bill?
– Yeah – Yes, they released what he looked like to the public and to everyone except
for us, and we didn't get to see him until we actually had a scene with him.
To make the reaction very realistic.
– Right, so what we're seeing on film is legit your reaction you had.
– Oh yeah!"
Question Time
Why were the adults all so freaking weird and evil?
Apparently a deleted scene of Stan at his bar mitzvah where he blames all of the adult
for all the disappearing and murders would show how corrupted they became due to the
curse on Derry.
Well, it would have been nice to see it for our understanding then.
Why did they have to wait for so long to talk to each other?
Or didn't even talk to the police?
Seriously, why did they make it look like cleaning the blood off the bathroom was fun?
Cleaning is never fun!
If they just understood that they are stronger together, why is it only three of them going
into the house?
When they are the most scared in the story that's when decide to… separate and go
their own way?
To be alone…?
… Really?
So Bill keeps insisting on how important it is to remain together and yet just go running
after his little brother when he gets a chance?
Nice Bill.. nice…
Saved by a kiss… aww how romantic!
The story takes place in 1989, right?
And the curse happens every 27 years… so if I do the maths.. it's 2016, a shame the
2nd movie won't be out before 2019…
You're three years late, mate!
And to finish I found this cool!
"There's this one kid Jack Grazer, he plays Eddie in the movie, and it was my first
day of shooting.
In the scene I walk out, I approach him, and it's a really intense scene, I'm right
in his face, I'm drooling all over him and he's crying.
We sort of block it briefly without doing really emotion into it and then you know, they
yell 'action' and I do it.
And I'm doing this clown thing, I'm screaming, cause part of Pennywise is that he hates the
kids, and there is so much anger.
–Most clowns do!
– And then I approach him and I scream in his face and we're doing the scene and he's
crying and gagging, and doing this whole thing.
I'm like, in the back of my head as we're shooting I'm like "oh my god I'm traumatizing
this child!", what am I doing?
You know.
And they yell cut and I go "Are you ok Jack?" and he goes
"Love what you're doing! Love what you're doing with the character!"
Alright guys, thanks for watching!
Please let me know what you thought of the movie in the comment section and remember
to subscribe, and I will see you around!
See ya!

Dollfie® Dream Faceup Part 2 - Application - Duration: 29:50.Hello, welcome to Part 2 of our Dollfie Dream face-up. Make sure to keep your primed Dollfie head in a Ziploc.
Palomino pencil sharpener, made in Germany.
Blu Tack or Fun-Tak mounting putty for mounting Dollfie eyes, permanent mounting, but can be removed easily.
3M sandpaper, I used 150 grit, but I suggest 220 to 400 grit to file down your pastel chalk.
Any dish will do to hold your pastel powder for blush.
Generals Earth, Portrait & Skin Tones compressed chalk.
Haruhime Cosmetic Brush Set from Daiso Japan.
Eye Shadow Chip from Daiso Japan.
Makeup Pad, 160pcs from Daiso Japan.
General's Watercolor Pencils, important to use water-based materials on the primed surface.
As we begin, I go by a certain order of application. Lashes > Brows > Blush > Lips
If the blush was swept over the lashes, the light colored blush will not show, hence why lash before blush.
I begin with brown before black because it is easy to erase, so I use it to create my lash design.
Brown also gives a nice undertone for the black lash drawing and gives the black lashes a feather effect.
We are starting to thicken the lashes on the front upper lid. This is the same as applying eyeliner makeup.
This is important to create an illusion of thick lashes.
Make sure to alternate between a frontal and upwards view of your Dollfie head to test the lash design.
Take advantage of the curvature of the eye socket to guide your pencil marks down to a good taper.
Make sure that your pencil tip is razor sharp when you start to fan out and taper your lash drawings.
Use your paper mat to help get your pencil into a razor-sharp chisel tip.
Go really light with drawing your brows at first.
Now you can refine your designs with your eraser before you commit to the final lash and brow design with black.
Again, take advantage of the eye socket curvature as a guide to draw your bottom lashes too.
Now to finalize it with black!
Make sure to check your brow placement. It should have been measured earlier, but you can still erase errors.
Time to file down various pastel sticks for the blush.
Your paper mat will be your best friend at this point.
Spread the pastel powder onto the paper mat and swish it around to get only the finest powder on your brush.
You might not see any results at first as you brush, but rest assured that the fine powder is taking hold.
Be extremely careful when drawing the mouth line and do it lightly with a razor chisel tip of your black pencil.
Getting ready to apply Vermilion watercolor lipstick.
Oops... accidentally marked lipstick on her forehead XD
And this is the final look before coating the head with Super Dollfie UV Cut spray.
Thank you for watching!

Dollfie® Dream Faceup Part 1 - Surface Preparation - Duration: 4:49.Hello, welcome to Part 1 of our Dollfie Dream face-up.
This head was previously cleaned up in Part 0 of our Dollfie Dream face-up videos.
We will be applying Mr. Super Clear Matt spray to the very base surface of the Dollfie head.
This will ensure that the surface has enough tooth to hold watercolor pencil marks and pastel powder blush.
Or, allow us to do a complete wipe of the face in case of a catastrophic mistake.
We will use 99% alcohol to make absolutely sure we strip off any residual chemicals
Give the head a little time to let the alcohol evaporate.
I will be using an air duster to make sure I blow off any dust or lint.
Though this part is unnecessary as I will be dusting off the surface with my clean hands for the final check.
I will be using this giant tapered 45cm cooking chopstick from Daiso Japan to mount the head onto.
Make sure Mr. Super Clear is being sprayed outdoors or somewhere with a lot of ventilation.
When you begin spraying, be sure to start spraying the empty space besides the doll head, not directly onto it.
Make sure to shake up the canister really good. You should hear the agitator ball knocking around inside.
Give a few quick test spray to make sure that the plume is not being blown back in your direction.
Inspect that the wetness has even coverage on the side of the doll head you are spraying.
Since we started on her right side spraying forward, we will mirror the spray pattern from her left side.
Make sure to inspect that the coating looks even throughout the facial areas you plan to work on.
Sorry for the bad focus of my camera =(
Make sure to give it a little time to dry outside, and pray no dust particles had collected on the head.
Make sure your fingers are clean as you run them across the facial surface to check for dryness.
She is ready.
