You could spend many a sleepless nights
and waste the better part of your day
trying to come up with a nickname for something so powerful
that it will literally make you scream for your mother
Many have tried, almost all have failed
Save one, the one that called it "Godzilla"
And today, we're gonna add the name "Ours"
If you think about it, the GT-R can pass for your average road car
Well, because, its got basically almost the same stuff
Like HID headlamps, 20-Inch mags
a twin-turbo V6 that produces 565 horsepower
Its got LED taillights, a titanium exhaust
cruise control, air conditioning and
power folding side mirrors
Kidding aside, this car is no push over
All the updates for 2017 have a purpose
For example, a chin spoiler that's more efficient
A grille that's wider to allow more air to come in
20 more horsepower under the hood
and an updated rear diffuser
This car is definitely not your "siento-bente rice rocket"
You know, siento-bente. The sound is 100kph but the speed is 20kph
Yeah, this ain't one
Sitting inside the cockpit of the GT-R at rest
you'll notice that it's very very comfortable
The first thing that greets you is the nice Alcantara leather
with hand-crafted stitching. Very nice
Quality still goes through the center console
with this carbon fiber trim that you see here. Very nice
You got two cup holders, the notches for the driver aids
very premium feel. Very nice
A huge touchscreen display in the center
and a steering wheel that is made by the hand of God himself
This thing is awesome. Another thing that you'll notice too
is that there is a carbon fiber on the trims inside the dash
The one other thing that I wanted to point out
when sitting inside the GT-R for the first time is that
it's not intimidating. In fact its the opposite, its very inviting
except maybe for one little thing
When you get on over to the speedometer of the car
most normal cars have their 100km/h at say maybe the 11 o'clock position
The GT-R has it at the 7 o'clock position. That's crazy
On paper, the GT-R is a 2 plus 2 so here at the back
you're surrounded by, well speakers and not much anything else except
maybe one cupholder, not even room for 2
So I'm sitting behind my normal driving position and I'm a fairly short guy
so now that I put the seat back
Yup, sardines in a can
The first time you step into a GT-R
get in there and you know grab the steering wheel
Your adrenaline is going to be pumping and that's normal
I'm sure that that's Nissan syndrome taking into effect
getting you all pumped, getting you all hyped up
You want to step on the gas, go as fast as possible
attack the corners, that's great and all
But, you got to remember that this is a 6 cylinder
3.8L 565 horsepower engine so you got to be careful, you got to take it easy
While driving around the city, sure the seats may feel a little cramped
the bolsters might be getting on your nerves so to speak every once in a while
But when you're on the track and you're enjoying it at either
full speed or half speed, you're gonna enjoy the bolsters a lot
It does keep you in your place, and you're happy that they're there
Many a time people have said that the most useless function inside a car
would be launch control and you know I tend to agree with these people
because when are you gonna use it from one stoplight to the other, that's true
However, this is a race track
and it's empty
Oh yeah
Turn that on. Turn that on
Hold down the break, put it at 4000
and go
Oh my god!
Oh my goodness
You okay?
Let's do that again
Now, as much fun as that was and I wanna do that again and again and again
A novice like myself knows when to give it up
to someone that knows what they're doing
So, that's what we're gonna do right now
We're gonna give this car to someone that
pretty much knows what they're talking about and what they're doing on the track
and we're gonna go for a taxi ride and see what that's all about
The 2017 Nissan GT-R is available at Php 7,350,000
Quite a lot of money if you might think, but it is worth every centavo
and I'll give you 3 reasons why
Number 1, it can outperform several European sports cars
at the fraction of the price
Number 2, this thing can do the Nürburgring in under 7 and half minutes
Now, the Nürburgring and EDSA have something in common
Plus minus 2 kilometers
So essentially, you can make it from the Rotonda of Mall of Asia
All the way up to Monumento in under 8 minutes
It takes longer to create a soft boiled egg
And number 3, everything that you see here
all these bags, table included
fits in the back
Not bad for a sports car
