Episode 001 RodBaker Vlog - Let's Do This! - Duration: 5:05.

So welcome to episode one of

the video blog that I'm gonna start putting together. My name Is Rod Baker, I am a DJ here in Dallas-Fort Worth.

Basically I don't have an agenda with this I'm not trying to go anywhere with this really in particular

Some of It might be Q&A from fellow wedding vendors,

Some of It might be Ideas for weddings. Some of It might be.....

Yeah well I've got a couple of audiences really i want to cover.

The brides out there that have questions about DJs and weddings, and all kinds of things in general.

I've been in this business a long time. I've DJ'd

for 27 years, I've been full-time since

2010.

I just wanna start giving back.

This has been very good to me over the years, I

really enjoy it and

I just want to do something with this.

What I'm showing you so far in this episode is a typical Saturday night. I'm worn out.

You know when people say "oh you've got the easy job, the fun job I

want to show every side of It. I'm gonna be transparent with this. I'm going to show

the ups the downs.

Because it's easy to show you the part on Saturday where you're good, but it's not as easy

to show you the part on Tuesday where you're

struggling getting all your paperwork done and your Tuesday

appointments and, throughout the week the networking and all the things that we do so

this will be a combination

trying to

help my fellow vendors, help brides...but then also give you a snippet and a kind of a "Day-in-The-Life" type thing,

really just...

Here's The Thing...

I'm gonna be blunt. I feel like everybody has this period of life where they have the most fun, that they look back on.

For some people it's high school, for some it was college, some people it's a childhood.

For me, it's right now.

Right now i'm living that era that when i get

older...I'm gonna look back and go, "man that was the fun part and

I really want to document that. So that's what I'm doing with this, vlog. I want

to document

The fun. It's not all fun fun in the traditional sense, but for me this life, is fun. We're having a good time so i

want to share that with you. Where this goes, I don't know. We'll Just see!

But Let's have some fun with It. Thanks for tuning in,

we're gonna make this a short episode, but we're gonna get rolling with this thing and

Planting a potted tower of strawberries // Strawberry Tower // The Gardenettes - Duration: 1:47.

My kids eat strawberries by the punnet full, so I'm going to show you how to

create a potted strawberry tower - dripping with delicious homegrown

berries that you and the kids won't be able to resist. Start with three pots in

descending sizes now I'm using Northcote Pottery's low Italian Bowl which have

this nice wide base and a lovely warm, natural look that's perfect for edibles.

Half fill the largest pot with potting mix and place the middle sized pot on

top then plant the bottom with strawberries - topping up the sides with

potting mix as you go so there is a ring of strawberries around the middle pot.

I'm using three delicious varieties so 'Strawberry Delight' which has sweet

medium sized fruit and these really pretty pink flowers. 'Tioga' which is a

Californian beauty that really loves the Aussie climate with hefty fruit and a

classic strawberry flavour and 'Strawberry Deliz' which has unique upright fruit.

Now fill the middle pot roughly halfway with potting mix and place the smallest pot

on top - then plant a ring of strawberries in the middle pot finally fill the top

container almost to the top with potting mix and plant it out too - if you want to

super crop of berries then place your strawberry tower in full sun and liquid

feed every two weeks with Powerfeed in the purple bottle. It's designed to promote

loads of flowers and fruit. But here's my secret tip for an extra sweet crop make

sure you give them fortnightly doses of Seasol too - not only do regular doses of

Seasol increase root mass and improve flowering and yields, but strawberries

grown with Seasol are remarkably sweeter - so you won't need to sprinkle

sugar on these beauties!

As I said last time, in our case of congolese music

when we talk about intervals

we just mean the fact of playing two notes in the same time

or one by one. And the reason why we call them intervals

is because of the gap between those notes.

When are going to call them third intervals, tenths, or sixths

Simply because of the notes picked ...

No kidding ?!

Seriously, if we play on the C chord again

let's think on the basic of the major scale

Here is a scheme of the major scale which is made up with its seven notes

C D E F G A B

Then C again as an octave

The 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th

In other manner of speaking, to use a more "technical" vocabulary

1st note is C, which is also called the 1st degree and the tonic

Then D which is the 2nd note, 2nd degree and so called the 2nd

Then E which is the third and also the third degree and so called the third

As you have noticed we using a vocabulary more articulate now so ...

THIRD

4th degree, which is the 4th note (F)

G which is the fifth, and also the fifth degree

A which the sixth note, sixth degree and so called the sixth

B the 7th note, also the 7th degree and so called the 7th

Then the octave, wa can say it's an 8th note

as we will carry on counting 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15

Let's stop here we are not going too far counting

So let's get back to what i was saying

When can we say that an interval is a third, fifth, sixth or tenth ?

If we play the C note with a E

it's a third interval, just because of the gap between the two notes

we know that C is the tonic and E the third

so this interval is a third interval

The main note played as for example know the C

You count the gap : one, two three,

we end up on the third because of this manner of counting from the first note C tonic to the E

Then if we offset to play the D with it third interval

the third is going to be the F

That gives one more third interval

played on the base of the D note (as the main note)

And we can go over and over, if we offset to play the E note it third will be G

Here are the third intervals combinations played one after the other

And we can find the full set of third intervals on all the fretboard

To give you another glimpse in seben solo guitar

why do I talk about third intervals pretty often

it's because so much used in solos

let me zoom to show you like in the C chord

I could create a full melody only with third intervals as for example

The rythmic could be

We often come accross thirds in seben

Specificaly when we want to play two notes in the same time

This is an example of one of my sebens

played with only third intervals, as in most of my solos you will often find thirds

but also in congolese music seben and rumba

And I take my pocket. There was something like a

He know I don't believe these kind of things.

Then I - Okay.

Put it back.

I don't have the time to run, like, eight feet.

I'm just standing there like, the round pole.

No balance.

I said, anytime you see, I nod my head,

rolling the camera.

And I go up.

I go down.

It's scary.

Really scary!

I'm not - I'm just ordinary people

I'm not a Superman.

And somehow, I see the drop.

The sweat.

Then I look at the camera.

That's a cameraman up there already two hour.

(chuckling)

I said, "Okay, take a rest.

"Get off your sweat."

Then he get off all the the sweat.

Then I go up, "Are you okay?"

"Yeah."

Then I just do this.

One of the stunt guys,

"Rolling!"

I said, "Huh?"

Then, you just hear

15 camera rolling.

We only have 400 feet.

You're not gonna jump?

Gone!

(screaming)

Wow!

The whole entire shopping mall, quiet.

I say,

"I'm gonna die."

I jump down.

And I said, "Wow, safe landing."

I grab my stunt guy do this.

Then he said, "Hold on big brother,"

"I'm gonna die, don't hit me anymore."

Because I'm so exciting, the power.

I don't know where the power come from.

Then I turn around and I see

I hit myself, bruise.

I just,

"Aahhh!"

Then I see all my hand, the skin peeled, then at -

like 6:00 we finish.

Then we

drinking a beer,

celebration.

Then I go to Heart of Dragon*

Get out the car, sleep, drive to the location.

Then, "Big Brother, we are on the location."

I get up.

I cannot open the door.

My hand just like this.

It's over.

All the energy are gone.

Then I get out of the car.

The whole body was, no more power.

I think at that time, in one second,

I use all my power.

Yeah.

Actually, I go down.

Almost fainted. (screaming)

We glad we don't have, like, a sound recording at that time.

We dub later.

Then, as he pick me up.

"Speak dialogue!

"Speak!

"Speak!"

Otherwise have to do it again.
